so as the N-Gage some how some way finds a way to continue into 06 how many games do you think we'll get?

It doesn't look like anything is scheduled for January but there are reports that Nokia will release 2 games a month through to 07. If that starts in February that would be another 22 games LOL I don't think that will happen but who knows. Right now I know of only 7 games scheduled for release. If Nokia could manage another 18 games this year I think that would be good and bring the total up to 70 games :)

I finally decided to go get Sega Rally. I don't really collect non-us releases but since it was just one and the N-Gage is the only system I've gone for a complete collection with I said oh well. I think I got it from the same guy in Thailand that many of you have since when I checked his feedback I saw some familar names LOL

I'm sure most of you kept it sealed but not me I busted this game out of the wrapper as soon as it arrived so I could see just how bad it was. It's not unplayable but there is no reason to play it when we have Colin McRae Rally on the same system that just does everything right.

Also it looks like some of the accesories are in stock at letstalk.com

I think the games are announced are the last games were going to get. But who knows, Nokia has suprised me before.

i expect 2-3 more titles, then the system will be abandoned...

i cant imagine sales are that good on the newest released titles, and nokia will only release those games that are near completion - the rest will simply be scrapped.

then, in 2011, someone will have to hunt down the programmers who used to work at nokia and get beta copies of partly completed games and some concept art for systems...maybe a proto of the infamous 'n-gage 2'.

in an unrelated issue, does anyone have employee records for nokias n-gage division?

I am interested in picking it up as well, but haven't seen it on ebay lately. Can you post a link to the auction, or disclose the seller's id?

I recently picked up the Speaker and MMC switcher, and both work great. They attach to the n-gage quite well, and seem to be pretty durable. Also, if you buy 3 games with them and enter the discount code, they'll take the discount off the accessories as well. Not sure if it will work just on accessories as well, or say 2 accessories and 1 game.

here is the seller ID:iamsiamz

and he has an Ebay store as well: LINK (http://stores.ebay.com/eXglue-AnyThing-EvryThing-in-THAI)

looks like he has a BIN Sega Rally for $49.99 but I got mine in a regular auction for $30 and I saw others even get it for as little as $13 @_@ so you might want to wait until he puts some up as regular auctions.

something else you might want to try is PM Amy Rose here on DP. I saw she gave someone Sega Rally in the Secret Santa thread. She lives in Australia so she might have acess to them. Just a thought.

qbertandernie

might as well pick up sega rally too i guess. id hate to have one game in the library missing, even if it is import only.

and im glad to know the speaker and game switcher are available now. i quit watching letstalks site when the games i wanted all arrived.

looking at my excel list, the average price for an n-gage game has been $9.14. how many supported systems can you have a complete collection for at that cost? i love n-gage!

classicb: whats the 52nd game? my count had it at 51 if counting sega rally. so another 18 games this year would be 69?

I'm not sure. I was just going off what I had wrote on the first page of this thread. I edit it everytime a game comes out but I could have screwed it up somewhere. I have 51 US and then Sega Rally 52.

I tried to use the 15% off code and it said it was expired. :( it was bound to happen.

I ordered the headphones (the cheap ones, I can't believe they have $79 headphones even if they are bluetooth), speaker and MMC card expander. I wanted to get one of those new cases but I can't find them anywhere on the site.

you know what other accessorie I would like. I'd like a screen magnifier like the old Gamegear and Gameboy had (although smaller). Not for playing games though since I think it would get in the way but for watching movies and stuff on the N-Gage.

hey does anyone have the N-Gage Insider magazines. I got vol #2 from a former N-Gage collector here on DP I think he had 9 of them so I would guess some of you got one as well. I was wonder how many issues there are? My guess would be around 4 or 5 since it looks like they just make them for the big video game events.

I guess I'm an N-Gage collector, too. I've got about 10 games for the system. I'm particularly interested in the N-Gage games that are mail-order only. I assume if the N-Gage takes after the Atari 2600 pattern, the final batch of mail-order only games will become the rarest games for the system. I can't wait for the Civilization port to come out in particular.

on top of being rare they are actually some of the best N-Gage games which should make them even harder to come by at a later date.

The only two N-Gage games I've ever really enjoyed are Xanadu Next and Pocket Kingdom. I hope these latest releases reach that level of quality.

Wasn't there supposed to be a sequel to Pocket Kingdom, by the way? I wonder if it's been cancelled.

I have been suprised by the level of games still coming out. I was also wondering who here knows what type of promotional displays N-gage released to display their games. I have an extra n-gage QD dual mounted wall mounted dispay kiosk that I have up for trade or sale.

I figured I should jump in here.

Got a QD for Christmas. At first I didn't think it was possible for a system to have controls this awful. My fingers were in agony because the buttons and pad were so stiff. I switched with an extra faceplate and that cleared it up quite a bit. Thank god that was included in the deal.

I'm more than impressed by the games. I love Tiger Woods, Sonic N, Pathway to Glory, and Colin McRae. I believe if the media gave it a little more credit, the original model wasn't so poorly designed, and the graphics looked better in screen shots, it would have had a chance. There are some great games, and now it's just a matter of getting them all.

It's great to get a solid collection from the start and for so cheap. EB and Gamestop shipped quick, and with the other deals from DP members, I'll have around 20 games. Not a bad start!

(Classicb I'll get back to you soon on that trade!)

while I haven't played the original taco design I've heard people say its got an excellent d-pad and there are also spaces between the buttons which I imagine would help too bad you have to take the battery out to change games though. x_x

I got my accesories today :) I got the MMC card expander and snap on speaker. I wonder if they had made something similar to the MMC card expander for the original N-Gage if it would have helped anything. Anyway pretty cool little thing. Its nice to be able to have access to one N-Gage game and a MMC card full of extras at the same time. I think using it might also expand the life of that little rubber flap you pull down to put the game in.

qbertandernie
01-10-2006, 08:23 AM
yeah, i thought the game expander was ingenius. the speaker was pretty nice, but when you can have a portable system that you can stick two games in, not having to worry about losing one, thats cool.

I haven't posted here in a long time, so I figured I would hop in and let others know how I am doing with my collection.

I currently have 39 N-Gage games.

I have 3 left to get from the old batch (which is a deal already in the works from a fellow DP N-Gage collector).

I have 1 of the new games, Atari vol. 1.

I just ordered system rush and catan today from letstalk.com (what is that code, I didn't know it and couldn't find it, or else I would have ordered 3 games).

I have warhammer on backorder from letstalk, so I will be getting that gama as soon as it is in stock.

The only accesory that I own is the small case.

I seriously rarely play my n-gage, but I am very much enjoying collecting for it. I am acting on collecting this now before it goes the way of the virtual boy.

EDIT:
Also, anybody got an extra cord so that I can hook my n-gage up to my computer and get some demos put onto my mmc card?

Also, has anybody played alien front online or virtua cop, I am curious about those 2 games

Hot Seat is playing with one game pack and one system with two people. You just trade the system back and forth between turns. Works well with a game like High Seize.

That's a fun site, especially the personality profile.

It lets you take an ink-blot test and then rates you. The first one I did honestly... all the inkbnlots are obviously supposed to look like demons and monsters and hellspawns and such. Of course, I am "Shadow Born" and perfect for the game.

Then I said everything looked like "bunnies" and "panda bears" and "fluffy cats." It told me I had an unnatural obession with animals.

Then I said everything looks like "penis" and "vagina" and "breasts." Of course it told me I was a sexual deviant.

LOL

There's no point in advertising since it's not on shelves.

But with that logic, they shouldn't have bothered listing "Hot Seat" on Atari Vol. 1 either, yet they did.

Heck, with that logic, why list any of the options anymore? Why print the insert in color? Why print an insert at all? Why bother with the box? Heck, why a cart?

Nah, they're still treating releases as if they could be found on shelves, so it's odd either that High Seize doesn't say "Hot Seat", or odd that Atari Vol. 1 does. We'll see if any other "Hot Seat" games list the option on the back insert or not I guess.

Whoa... I just got one of these in the mail and almost all the games for it (just waiting for four more to come and I'll have the whole set.) This thing is AWESOME. I know the PSP and DS outpower it, but I don't have either of those and this thing is SO SMALL! I never though I would play such a nice-looking Tomb Raider on a handheld. Damn this thing is cool. Buttons are a bitch, though. Have to get used to those. The vertical-inclined screen is not nearly as bad as I thought. This little thing really is a portable PSone.

@_@ @_@ @_@

Now to try some emulation...

Can someone point me to an NES/SMS emulator for the Ngage? I suppose it's in this LONG thread somewhere...

:D

here are a couple of links.

http://ngage.dcemu.co.uk/
http://www.zophar.net/consoles/ngage.html

the verticle screen starts to become an issue with emulators. the Vampnet GBC (http://vampent.com/emu.htm) is the best emulator for the n-gage. It plays full speed and full screen. NES plays full speed but the screen options aren't that great.

non-gaming related

you can do other cool shit with the n-gage too like using it as a remote control for your computer (if it has blue tooth).

this site converts movies to fit your phone. nothing like a little Family Guy while waiting for the bus.

I just got an Ngage and a mess of games. I must say this is one amazing little system. I know it's less powerful than the PSP or DS, but the DS is just too damn big for me and the PSP is still too expensive and I understand that battery life and disk loading are issues. This leames me with the Ngage.

Question-

What's the best FPS on the Ngage? I'm getting pretty deep into ASHEN (this game is cool) but I found that RED FACTION appears to suck. Does Red Faction get any better? Any other cool FPS? I know there are some Tom Clancey (Splinter Cell?)games, but aren't they more stealth-oriented? Anything else like Ashen that's just straight-up DOOM shooting?

:D

classicb
01-22-2006, 06:48 PM
Red Faction and Call of Duty aren't that good. I thought that Ghost Recon was the best FPS on the N-Gage but I liked the overall feel of Ashen more. There have been rumors of an Ashen sequel but who know if will ever see it this late in the N-Gages life.

also there is a free version of Doom on one of those links I posted.

Atari Masterpieces Vol. II - April

not much but I would expect some new game announcements at the Game Developers Conference if we're to get any at all.

Puzzle Bobble is hard because the game is so slow, just like Puyo Pop. Just like Java games on mobile phones. Far too slow for my liking.

Plus, the coloured balls / bubbles tend to blend in with each other after a while, especially on the original model N-Gage...

Ashen is a good game. I liked it, and the controls aren't too bad. I have seen worse and better, but I wouldn't say Ashen is as bad as everyone makes out

Newbie Question...

It seems that I can play GB, GBC, SMS, NES, and some MAME without too many problems via emulator on the Ngage. Is that correct? SNES is probably slow? How about Genny and TG-16?

What do I do to make it work? I have a laptop but it's not Bluetooth enabled.

I'm thinking of buying a 512 card based on what i've read earlier in the thead. Is anything bigger just too big?

What next? I've seen card readers that connect to the PC via USB. Is that what I need?

Then what? Download an emulator to my PC then onto the card to put in the Ngage? Do I add the games directly to the card? Is there some sort of menu?

Total newbie here with a basic working knowledge of some things and that's about it. I've read some guides but they don't address emulators directly. I'm going to give that DVD-to-ngage readable file thing a try, too.

Anyone?

:D

yup. that's the way to go even if you did have bluetooth computer.

once you drag the emulator onto the card and the roms (should be roms folder) you have to install it on the N-Gage. done like this

Menu/Tools/Manager/Find emulator on list/Install

make sure you install it to your MMC card you'll have the option to install it to your phones memory and you should never do that.

there is also on piece of software that is highly recommended that you get: FExplorer. It will alow you delete and move files around on your MMC card while in the N-Gage without it there may be big proplems ahead for you.

This system was never really $500. They just wanted to sign you up for cell phone service and if you agreed to a contract, the unit became $200 which is still expensive, but not insane.

DreamTR, you have a complete collection?

I kinda stopped using my N-Gage in december. So my collecting halted there too.

I am missing Spiderman, bomberman, ptg 2, high seize.

And one or two others. But it's not too far off complete.

Bojay: two years of service when everyone on the planet already has service is a lot of money= P

Yeah, I think a lot of people have complete NGAGE collections, it's not that difficult to obtain one at all....

Waiting for two more games in the mail for mine to be complete. I got wrapped up into this little device FAST.

Has anyone had a problem getting Monkey Ball to play on the QD? The card seems to have a groove/indention that the other cards don't and my QD won't accept it. Won't even go into the slot more than a fraction of a centimeter (I suppose that's a milimeter.)

Anyplace to get the memory cards cheaps? Ebay looks sketchy, and Office Depot didn't eben have one. Is the memory card (for emulators and such) hard to find? How about the USB thingie???

:D

I don't think I've had that problem with Monkey Ball

MMC cards aren't really a standard in anything these days so Ebay is probably your best bet.

I don't know if it is just my qd, or if i have a faulty game, but I was trying to play sonic n last night, and when i get to the 3rd level, the game quits out and it says that there was some error. this happened with pathway to glory (i think) as well. it has only happened to me with 2 games, but i know sonic n is one of them. anybody else have this type of problem?

I've heard this happening when people save to much stuff to the phones memory. Might want to make sure your phones memory isn't too full.
