Beat expert mode last night! Finally got through Hangar 18 and nailed Freebird on second try.

If anyone wants to hear an interview with the guitarist from GH2, it's really cool (iirc, his name is Markus Henderson). Check it out here:

http://maximumthreshold.podomatic.com/

It's a large file (147MB, I think). The first hour of the podcast is an interview with Ron Thal, the lead guitarist for Guns N Roses. So, skip past that (if you aren't interested) to about an hour, give or take 5 minutes.

For anyone who's having problems with their whammy bar, there's a fix someone posted in the official GH forums for it. It involves taking apart your guitar and messing around inside of it, but it's not that complicated. Just did it on my controller last night and it works amazingly. No more whammy bar problems!:

Just got it for 360. Circuit City had a deal. Free 1600 points card with purchase. Now how do you play this thing?

Yes, I also had to crack my controller open to fix the whammy bar today, and the fix does work. Just a matter of adjusting the potentiometer on the whammy bar mechanism, two little screws...

Large amounts of patience and practice!! It was very frustrating at first, but once I got the hang of it you couldn't pry the guitar out of my hands!

Soo what's the pedal port for on the 360 guitars?

I'm guessing it will be for a foot pedal that'll control Star Power activation. Maybe whammy bar too (kinda like a wha-wha pedal).

Well, they do make Whammy pedals too. I have the Whammy 2 pedal that came out in the mid 90s. However, for the recordings in GH that used it (Rage Against the Machine), the GH team used a Whammy 1, which I noticed in one of the unlockable videos.

It would be pretty cool if they allowed a distortion pedal to switch between heavy and acoustic parts.

'Song Packs' are apparently up on Live now. Prices look to be causing an uproar. Imean, how can they not, at 500 MS points for 3 songs.

Looks like I no longer have a need to get the 360 version. I was looking forward to playing all of the songs in one big group, and expected to pay like $25 for all of the ones from the first GH, but that's just down the tubes now.

I really hope this fails. That price is way outta line. Disappointing. A truly missed opportunity by M$.

I for one won't pay it.

Almost $2 per song? No thanks. Especially when it's crap that I already have on the PS2 versions.

Wake me up when they release some NEW songs. Although I have a feeling that they'll just keep releasing old GH1/GH2 songs until it's time for GH3. Why put any effort into it while you can just milk your old tunes dry?

Dang. This is pretty much right above the top of what I said I'd pay for a song. Two of the packs looks ok, but the third is pretty weak.

Gonna have to think about this one for a bit.

Well I'll still buy a pack or two, its still a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a PS2 and Guitar and Guitar Hero. Of course I feel no need to own them all so I'm going to pick and chose the ones I want the most.

They need to price songs at 50 to 80 pts per song and let people choose individual songs to download. They will make a ton more money that way and we'll all be a lot happier with our purchases. Also, has anyone experienced any feedback or echo while using the wired headset with the guitar?

So.....30 songs in GH1, in $5 3-song packs = $50 for the original GH1 song list in GH2.

Hmm. I dunno, Redoctane.

The packs seem sort of arbitrarily chosen, too. They should've gone with 5-song packs grouped by the tiers of difficulty, since I really only want to play the final 10 with improved h/o's and p/o's. That and goddamn Symphony Of Destruction....I really don't care about paying to play I Love Rock & Roll on the 360.

You can thank Microsoft for the pricing, and I bet they had a hand in on the piecing out of the songs, as well.

From posts on Major Nelson:

500 points for 3 songs...that's 167 points a song. Or $2.09 a song. 47 songs were in guitar hero. That's $98.11 to get every song from guitar hero 1

47 if they release all the unlockable bonus tracks. The main game had 30 songs. I wonder if they'll even release the bonus tracks from GH1. "Fire It Up" was nice, but who really wants to play "Hey" or *shudder* "Farewell Myth" again?

Now what on earth would make you think that? If you're going to say because of the gears thing you're way off. MS publishes Gears so they have a say in content, but GH2 is Activision and they have the final say.

That being said i was promised comptetitive pricess to other online music. This is absurd. I plan on buying Bark at the Moon and that's it. Worse then the horse armour.

sign it. Major Nelson claims MS is looking closely at their pricing structure

The good news? At least it's not horse armor.

The bad news? It's not much better.

The people over there pretty much summed up my thoughts.

I own GH1, and was well prepared to buy nearly every song from that library (so freaking tired of 'I Love Rock and Roll'), but not at that price. Get it down to $1 and we'll talk.

Hey, how about I resurrect an old thread? I just got this game in a bundle, and it just so happens that the HD had track packs 1-4 on it. Here's my question. Can I play those tracks using a completely different profile, and if so, how do I access them within the game?

Well I might as well contribute to this 'old' thread then.

Actually, although the 3-track packs are indeed the same tracks from the first Guitar Hero on PS2, the tracks have been remixed so that they sound more like the original songs as opposed to the more obvious, guitar-blaring versions from GH1.

I dl'ed the packs containing "You Got Another Thing Coming" and "Take It Off", expecting more of what I liked before, but was impressed to find out that they tweaked the audio tracks for the instruments.

IIRC, there was no way to play Bass Guitar in the original GH1, so these versions of the songs have added the Bass Guitar sections for each and every song that was included in GH1. To top things off, the hammer-ons and pull-offs work flawlessly since the songs are now using the tweaked GH2 game engine.

I remember having a hell of a time trying to play "You Got Another Thing Coming" on expert for the PS2 GH1. The hammer-ons and pull-offs would work, but not as smoothly as they did when the songs were remixed for GH2 X360.

I'm not too put off by the price of the packs, but I will agree that it does kind of suck that they're forcing gamers to buy them as a three track pack as opposed to letting gamers buy each track seperately.

I suppose that they feel that some tracks would sell like hotcakes and other tracks would sit there to rot, hence, the probable reason as to why they're forcing the bundles on consumers.

I figured I'd make an effort to keep from cluttering the board, but ok, new topic it is. Thanks for your help...
