God of War PS2. Beat it about an hour ago. Great game! :) Some of the cutscenes are horrible tho, sensless killing of civilians :(

Hehe, when i was a kid and this game was new i could beat it without any problems. I even got the secret ending. But when i play it today, i can hardly get past the ice level. The controllers are so freaking bad. Wonder how i managed to master it when i was a kid hehe.

Yeah I am stuck on the ice level, but on a good note I beat Double Dare for the NES a couple of minutes ago I never could when I was a kid.

Finally forced myself through the 5th case of Phoenix Wright 1.....now I won't have a guilty conscience when I go buy Phoenix Wright Justice For All!

I'd have to say the 5th case, though it has some great moments, is pretty poorly constructed though.

"He stabbed the victim in the chest!"
(autopsy report says victim died of a stab in the back)
*present autopsy report*
"This clearly contradicts the witness's statement!"
"No it doesn't. You gets a penalty."
(me, playing the game): "WHAAAAT THE SHIT"

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (PSP).

Took me a lot less time to beat than Liberty City Stories, although I had a kid on the way when I got LCS, so the comparison isn't directly fair.

Next up for me is Splinter Cell: Double Agent on the 360 and Twilight Princess on the Gamecube...

I beat Twilight Princess on the 11th, making it #4 for the year. 38 hours of pure sextacular goodness.

To be honest, it wasn't all sunny...the extreme overuse of bloom (the first time I've EVER complained about it), the crappy swimming controls, crummy climbing controls, and at times wonky combat controls (mainly because of the camera...especially in the final battle) were easily overlooked by the sheer quality of the overall game experience. What a fucking awesome action/adventure title.

I found it to be even better than Link to the Past (which I've long held as the high point of the series). It's just so. fucking. good.

Right after beating it I fired up Okami, which I'm liking as well...but I heard the second half of the game feels terribly tacked on :( Oh well, I'll find out in about 15-20 hours! :)

I have recently finished Indigo Prophecy and Castlevania II.

Indigo Prophecy was a good game, almost more of an interactive movie. Very well done for what it is (certianly better than the early FMV interactive movvies). Unfortunately, like everyone says, the story gets really stupid at the end.

Castlevania II is just not a good game. At least the music is awesome.

Exile PCE

Time to try your hand at the second game, which is a clusterfuck of incredible proportions. It makes Time Stalkers look awesome.

On the 16th I beat Interstate 76 on PC and today I completed Interstate 76 Nitro Pack (again, for PC...both thanks to GameTap since both are bitches to run in WinXP). Fucking wonderful games, though not without their drawbacks. The resolution is locked at 640x480 and the engine's draw distance and level of detail are pretty primitive (polygon pop in a-hoy!), but they're still fun as all get-the-fuck-out.

I was a little disappointed in the disjointed nature of Nitro Pack, but I did like how it expanded on the character back stories and fleshed out the universe a little bit (such as more directly connecting the Interstate series to the Vigilante 8 series).

Haven't had much time to play anything but I did manage to beat 24: The Game. I've never seen an episode of the show, but the game was highly stylistic and moved along at a fast pace. The story was ok but tended to jump around a lot. The game as a whole was pretty easy and I was able to beat most of the missions on the first try. I haven't traded any games for a while but this one may find its way to my trade box shortly. 6/10

Just got Suikoden (PSX) so I've put a few hours into it. Thanks to a nice tax refund I was also able to pick up a DS and a PSP, so plently of handheld gaming goodness for me.

Yeah I had such high hope for the entire game and it just spiraled downward at the end. I hope if a sequel comes it is much more thought out this time.

There's already quite a bit of games that I whomped in this month. As far as I can remember, that includes ICO, Snatcher, Typing of the Dead, Time Crisis 4, House of the Dead 4, the unlocking of absolutely everything in Warioware: Smooth Moves, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Phoenix Wright: Justice For All, Hotel Dusk, Gitaroo Man, quite a few games on Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2, and most recently Cannon Spike (taking a grand total of fifteen or so minutes :p). That's already quite a good list for the first two months! ^_^

ADD: Forgot Star Control II. Man, that game kicks so much ass.

The Warriors (PS2) - I was just looking through my memory card saves and remembered that I was close to finishing this one. I had been stuck on the "No Permits, No Parley" mission since 6/01/07. I decided to give it another go and managed to easily complete it on my second try (I have no idea why the other 100 times I tried it, it was so damn difficult). The story quickly wraps up after that mission, but the game was completely badass. Gameplay was varied, the soundtrack was awesome, and the combat brutal. Easily one of my favorite games of the last generation. 9/10

It's been a slow season for me beating games, but I did manage to finish off the single-player campaign in Delta Force: Black Hawk Down for the PS2. Once again my gaming ignorance has been to my advantage since I never played the original PC game. I guess quite a bit of the experience was chopped out of the port, but I didn't read any of the reviews of it until after I had finished it. Honestly, I thought that it was a good FPS in a great setting. There were some problems, but it was a nice change from fighting some nameless enemy in a barely visible setting. Trecking through the desert, or riding shotgun in a mounted vehicle weapon was good twitch shooting.

On a side note: I really need to play more games with sunlight in them. I didn't realize until this game, but 90% of the stuff I play through takes place in darkness or claustraphobic conditions. It was nice being blinded by the sun for once.

#7 - Okami (PS2)

Pointlessly drawn out and repetitive gameplay with some seriously bland level work. They really should have cut the game down a fair amount (like...to a third of its present length). I wonder if anyone that reviewed it actually bothered to play through the game or if they rated it based on the first hour or two of gameplay, because god DAMN does it get old fast. Maybe everyone was just happy to have such a uniquely beautiful game that lasted a long time and didn't much care about the actual quality of it...

Took me 32 hours 38 minutes to beat it but it somehow felt like 32 days.

But yea, great writing, graphics, and music. If they trimmed it way way way down and tightened it up a hell of a lot, it could have been on par with Beyond Good & Evil...but it's a pretty fucking far cry from it as it stands.

Yeah, I agree in many respects. I have a stack of about 12 games on top of the PS2 that I started playing and plan on finishing. Okami has been there since release. It's fun, but I just can't find the motivation to slog through the rest of it (according to your time I'm about 1/2 through it). Ususally, I'm not a big stickler on voice acting either, but the constant beeps and boops when people speak is annoying, I would have rather read text with no sou d effects at all.

I just finished off Adventure Island for the PCE on my PSP. I was expecting Master Higgins, but was treated to a nice clone of Milon's Secret Castle (one of my NES favorites). I can't understand a lick of Japanese and had to restart a few times to even find which line of gibberish that was the start game button. Luckily, beyond the story, there is enough English to figure out what is going on. I was about to stop playing when the beginning 10 minutes of the game suffer from the Lagoon effect on the SNES, you primary weapon of attack is little more than a glorified butter knife with a few inch reach.
