I actually saw it here in San Francisco this past Friday, and anyways the director was there and stated that they've actually "recently changed the rules for Donkey Kong <Donkey Kong only>" and to no longer accept video feeds.
As far as his portrayal of Billy, the director also said that the king of kong crew more or less just shot what was placed in front of them. In one instance he had a chance to actually sit down and shoot billy. They loaded up two cameras by mistake..while one was filming the environment/billy, the extra camera was placed just on Billy's eyes for like 5 minutes; "It's not in the hair, but in his eyes" joking about his ego/stage personality.
Overall it went very well with everyone there. I was totally shocked that he showed up there! Very cool. He also said that new line cinema (I think) wanted to recreate the documentary as a movie. His main concern at that point was to make it with character, something with a little more substance like "little miss sunshine" and not just some cheesy flick...thank god.
Oh yeah, on the DVD the Mr. Awesome video will be on there, so fear not!
