Should have gotten it a year ago when it was new...

$39.99 might have seemed a little high, but it's worth the price of admission for 7 Slugs. You can't sit on SNK Playmore releases for too long (unless it's something like Art of Fighting Anthology, which nobody wants).

Well, I actually decided to leave a few hours ago. And after spending an hour trying to cross the border, I get there. And the conversation went something like this:

    ---
GS Employee #1: Hi, how may I help you?

Me: Hi, I'd like to buy a copy of Metal Slug Anthology, please.

GS Employee #1: Oh, sure. *goes towards the display and grabs a copy of Metal Gear Solid: The Essentials*

Me: Er, no, I said Metal Slug Anthology. I already own those games.

    GS Employee #1: Um...

Me: I checked out the Gamestop website and it said you had used copies in stock.

GS Employee #2: Well, the website is usually out of date...

Me: (Suspicious) I know. Which is why I would like you to please check your system for any other copies.

GS Employee #1: Well, we do have one copy...

Me: I'd like to take it then.

    GS Employee #1: ... but it's rented.

    Me: ... pardon?

GS Employee #1: It's at my house.

    Me: What.

GS Employee #1: Yeah. I think I'll bring it back on Tuesday.

Me: ... Thanks for nothing. *leaves*
    ---

Needless to say, I'm not buying anything at that Gamestop location anymore, and I'm going to see if I can contact the manager and file a complaint. Fucking hell.

    Edit:
I ended up ordering it off Gamestop's website for $17.87 shipped. Yay CAG 16% off code + Edge Card. I had to pay $3 shipping and $1.30 taxes but it was worth it.

Kitsune, contacting the manager won't do much, since he's likely very aware of the situation and let's them check the games out.

I would find a way to get the DM's number, because THAT is who all Gamestop employees fear. It might be worth a shot to complain to the manager, but it's doubtful.

And the shit about the website being out of date? That is bullshit, ever since they upgraded the site, the stock locator updates every day at 8 am. I've seen things go in stock one day, I bought it, and it was out of stock the next. The employee just tried to lie to you because he had it at his house.

I would raise hell, but I wouldn't expect much out of it... if you get a hold of the DM, chances are that employee can kiss his job goodbye.

Of course they did. Thats Gamestop policy. Nevermind the fact that they bought them from the actual wholeseller. They just wanted to open them and place their stupid price stickers on everything. But they were still in mint condition as far as the disc and instruction books were concerned.

I seen the ps2 today at gamestop used for 17.99. It has been there for months. I find it funny how they fit all the games on one dvd. Why would the xbox which had less need two dvds? I also agree with the earlier poster the gamestop locator was the best thing they had. I wonder what was the true reason they took it away.

What are you talking about? The Gamestop locator is still there, it just works differently. Instead of showing you a list of the Gamestop stores near you and the amount of copies of a particular game you're looking for that they have in stock, it shows you which stores near you actually HAVE the game. And the list shows up in the game's page once you've entered your zip code.

I was weirded out at first, because when I searched for MSA, it showed me the Calexico store I buy stuff at, a store in Yuma and one way north of me. It took me a minute to understand the change.

I don't like it, but at least I can live with it.

There site has changed dramitically over the years. Example I could search a 200 mile radius for a game. I picked up starblade alpha, psychic detective and other rare ones that way. There used list was from a to z now you search half the games aren't availible in the database. Only select ones. Try to search there Library of used games it is nothing like it was.

They use to list dam near every game availible in the stores but something changed. for me the hunter I don't like it. I would drive 30 miles to get a game.

Located a copy at my local Gamestop from the online shop for $17.99. Got the phone number off the site for the store, called it, asked them to hold it for me, picked it up 20 minutes later.

It was insanely easy, if you guys are gonna nit pick something why don't you start with G4 and how they show Ninja Warrior 24/7.

Well I am glad it worked for you but I did a considerable amount of shopping via the locator print screening phone as well as addresses due to traveling with my job. I just prefer the older locator. My preference. Like I want diane mizota back.

The funny thing is I have so many stories about getting games from that old style locator. I must have bought over 200 games from using that thing and I remember almost every one.

This is true. They use to have every game listed, but many have been taken out of their data base. To name a few: Red Star(PS2), Metal Slug Anthology(PS2--until recently of course), Samurai Showdown(Xbox). There are many more obviously so finding rarer games just depends on what the current store you are in has on hand.

I didn't think you'd have that many issues with the new search, gepeto. I apologize. I wasn't thinking you'd use it in that way, and when you put it THAT way, it makes sense, and it sucks balls.

Some really recent games, like Super Mario Galaxy, don't even show up on the site used!! Stuff like Brawl has new and used listings, Galaxy just has new... which is weird.

And Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was just added recently as used, because it wasn't there when I looked last week.

The new site changes did a lot to streamline the website and make it easier for buyers, but it killed some of the features the more hardcore people liked to use.

Just because you can't easily find a game in EB's database doesn't mean its not there. You just have to get creative locating it since the search engine has been programmed not to show any hits for certain older titles (Not sure what detirmines a game's status, I haven't seen any patterns).

For example I was trying to find Ferrari F355 for the PS2 earlier, which appears to not be in the system. But its able to be located by looking at the PS2 section by genre and then setting it to show backordered products. And if there were other Ferrari games available, you could've searched for Ferrari and had it list backordered products to reach it (Which didn't work in this case because nothing else available in the system has Ferrari in the title).

Here is the Red Star, which can be located just by entering the name in the search engine (Hasn't been removed from anything), along with Samurai Showdown V for the Xbox.

Lots of copies available close to me, I'm not sure why you think these aren't there.

They aren't as easily accessable as the old system. You could scan a 200 mile radius in 5 seconds and call each store or sneak in until you have a verifiable hit. Some days some stuff shows up others no where. Some times only new will show up with the used sorta greyed out.

The employee will not lose his job no matter what, nor should he. Gamestop has that policy of allowing employees to check out games to play, he should have just came back Tues. to pick it up. And while the locater is accurate to what the computer at the store believes is actually in the store every morning, there are occasionally mistakes at the store level.

I wonder if this policy is right next to the "There's a trade-in value discount when you bring in a scratched disc to cover disc refurbishing - even though we never fucking refurbish the discs!" policy.

I finally got my copy of Metal Slug Anthology today. I was all excited when I got home and started to do the PS2 case swap technique so I could have a "new" new looking game. But then all of a sudden I was stopped dead in my tracks: theres a price sticker on the front of the case, one on the back of the case, and....on the actual picture spine(not on the case)???What the hell. Gamestop and their annoying ass policies have pissed me off beyond reason. Needless to say, I'll be taking it back tomorrow. Hopefully another location will have put that spine sticker on the actual "case spine" and not the picture spine

Did you try pealing them off? As annoying as it is, they come off easy and I've yet to see any residue left over after removing it. You're transferring it to a new case so it isn't exactly trouble since your removing everything anyways.

I did try peeling it off but some of the color started coming off the paper. It's just another hassle that Gamestop should not be putting their customers thru.
