I must say, you get some pretty fantastic stuff on a near daily basis. Nothing earth shattering, but, man, you're very lucky to have such an awesome customer base.

Does anyone else out there running a store have such steady and fantastic trade-ins?

Sunday, bloody (and I mean that in more of a Brit way than a horror way) Sunday.

Dreamcast Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (complete) - always welcome here, on any system. The DC version is the least expensive but it's still a display case item.

Dreamcast Capcom vs. SNK (complete) - see above :)

Dreamcast Project Justice (loose) - I was just thinking about how this game should be in the top five most wanted Dreamcast titles, when one turns up today. Sadly, just a loose disc but a great one.

Nintendo DS Oendan (complete) - what a great game, and an import to boot. Hopefully someone will trade in the sequel so I can try it out.

Nintendo DS Oendan 2 (complete) - w00t.

Wow, those are 2 of my most wanted DS games... Maybe I need to move out there when I finish school.

You need to hurry up and get them!
I used NCSX for both, but I think they are sold out.
Play-Asia has them both in stock if you are interested.

Up late last night, didn't quite get to the trade-ins. Nothing super spectacular, however.

Nintendo Wii System (complete) - complete in box and in pristine condition. Amazing how a system that's 18 months old is still noteworthy as a trade-in. I wonder how much longer that will last?

Dreamcast Marvel vs. Capcom (complete) - the first one, mint condition.

An unexpectedly busy day (Tuesdays are usually my "relax" day) with lots of trade-ins but mostly fringe stuff and common titles.

PS1 Fighter Maker (complete) and PS1 Soul Blade (complete) - both from the same customer who also had all three Tekkens and a small stack of other ho hum PS1 games. These aren't earth-shattering either but I don't get them very often.

N64 Mario Kart 64 (loose) and N64 GoldenEye 007 (loose) - fast sellers, though they're super common.

Super common but valuable titles bug the hell out of me as I've been looking for a copy of Mario Kart 64 the past few months since I noticed that I no longer own one (most likely stolen at one point or another) but since it is common I refuse to pay ebay or other online store prices and it hasn't shown up locally at all in flea markets or thrifts. Then I take a look at the finds thread and every third post is someone finding mario kart 64...I guess I just live in the wrong town.

A few days of nothing very interesting, we got some good stuff today.

Virtual Boy System (loose) - and actually working perfectly for a change. The last two or three traded in were either missing critical pieces or had serious issues. Nice to just clean it up and put it on the shelf.

Virtual Boy Mario Clash (complete) - traded in with the above, nice addition to our Virtual Boy section.

XBox Modded System (loose) - the system has about 20 later releases for XBox on the hard drive and about 8 emulators pre-loaded. Only the Genesis ROMS have been added, so I have a little work to do to get this to "fully interesting". Naturally I can't sell this in the store but we may use this in the store or as a giveaway at a tournament.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, folks.

If it is, then I feel bad about giving some of the Tengen ones away. Is there a difference besides just the color of the carts? I might just unload some in the trading forum.

While the 1 player game is undeniably great on both the NES and the TENGEN version of Tetris, the TENGEN version yields an infinitely superior set of 2 player modes ... and the cart, as stated is overall more valuable.

However, the rom for the TENGEN version of the game is present on just about every single multicart that has come out of Hong Kong ... so, one doesn't have to go nuts looking for the TENGEN cartridge exclusively to own/play it.

Another light trade-in day (Memorial Day).

TurboGrafx-16 Collection (loose) - just a handful of jewel-cased games including Bonk's Revenge, Ninja Spirit, Legendary Axe, JJ & Jeff, Addams Family, and a few others.

Hmm, a LOT of stuff traded in today, let's see what's worth noting.

Early in the day, a regular forum member brought a box of various games, everything in great condition. Best stuff among that box:

NES Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (loose)
Genesis Castlevania Bloodlines (loose)
Genesis Gunstar Heroes (loose)

Later in the day...

Wii System (loose) - complete but without the box which kinda sucks. It's cool having two of them for sale in the store though, that's pretty unusual.

NES Donkey Kong 3 (complete) - I don't think this came in today but I noticed it in the cart of trade-ins that need to be priced. I'm guessing someone who worked on a day I wasn't there recently failed to report this.

Better-than-average sales day with an average amount of trade-ins, nothing really spectacular though.

Systems - Two PS2's, an NES (we always refurbish these, the shell is in good condition though), and an SNES. Nice take.

SNES Super Mario All-Stars (loose) - common and beloved.
SNES Super Mario World (loose) - ditto.

PS3 GTA IV (complete) - I'm going to note here that sales of this game have officially stalled out and I expect that trade-ins are going to ramp up bigtime, so if you haven't picked the game up yet, good for you - you're about to find the game just about everywhere used. Personally I enjoyed the game but it wasn't really a step forward, rather a step sideways - much like Beautiful Katamari was for the 360. I did complete the main story, by the way.

Ah I might have to swipe a PS2 at NAVA, I need me a new DVD player...

Also got to love people who run out to get a popular game from the gate only to have them return the game a month or two after to get another game. Give those who wait some much needed funds off.

I'm already ringing true on the GTA IV thing. THREE of 'em for the 360 were traded in today. Not much else except:

Genesis game collection (complete) - a twenty-or-so collection of excellent condition Genesis games, all complete in box with manual. Not-so-common titles include Clay Fighter, Earthworm Jim 2, Joe & Mac, Math Blaster, Comix Zone, Virtual Bart, Pinocchio, TMNT Tournament Fighters, and Mickey Mania.

No. I'd guess that the kind of person who buys that version isn't going to trade it in either. We'll see!

Today, just one noteworthy trade-in.

NES Action Set (complete) - the system complete in box with the Zapper, two controllers, and cords that look like they've hardly been used. As usual though, the box itself needs new pins. Should have this back on the shelf tomorrow.

This question might land me a seat on the the short bus, but since you own your own store, do you accept trade-in's on more niche stuff like MVS carts, JAMMA boards, or is just the straight console stuff? In the pics of the store, you have a few cabs in there and I've been wondering if those were ever trade-ins?

Oh, back on subject, you have been getting a lot of nes stuff traded in lately, are they all loose, or do some come boxed, ect? Also, Little Samson wouldn't have happened to come through any of those piles?

I accept just about everything videogame related. MVS and arcade stuff included. I've actually taken eight or so arcade cabinets through the store. Or maybe you'd say "facilitated the deal". I put the seller directly in touch with my partner stonic, who restores cabinets in his free time.

Oh, back on subject, you have been getting a lot of nes stuff traded in lately, are they all loose, or do some come boxed, ect? Also, Little Samson wouldn't have happened to come through any of those piles?

I've never had Little Samson traded in.

Now, some catch-up. YESTERDAY was NAVA so it was a late night, just got the photos uploaded and now on to the trade-ins. I must say, yesterday was just about the mother of all trade-in days. Some really interesting stuff.

SNES Super Castlevania IV (loose)
SNES Legend of the Mystical Ninja (loose)
GameCube Zelda's Collectors Edition (complete) - again! They always sell fast though, or go for $40 a pop on eBay.
GameCube Super Smash Bros Melee (complete)
Wii Super Smash Bros Brawl (complete)
PS2 Grim Grimoire (complete)
PS2 Odin Sphere (complete)
NES Boxed Games (complete) - included quite a few of the original black boxes including Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and Gyromite. There was also a Metal Gear in there, about a dozen games in all.
Game Boy King of Fighters '95 (loose) - interesting, I've not seen this one before.
Game Boy Castlevania Adventure (loose)
Game Boy Final Fantasy Adventure (complete) - very minty in the box and all.
Game Gear Ninja Gaiden (loose)
Genesis Collection (complete) - a stack of complete games, about 15 in all including Ghouls 'n Ghosts, all three Shinobi games, and the first three Mortal Kombat games.

... but really, the day will be remembered for this one.

TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine Collection (mixed) - over 520 games in all, including just about every US game, even the CD releases. Check THIS link (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117502) for the details and pictures.

Monday.

Nintendo 64 Collection (loose) - a nice selection of pretty much everything Mario (Raj described it as "everything but Mario Kart"), including Mario 64, Mario Party 1-3, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, and Paper Mario.

Atari 5200 System (loose) - We don't get these in very often. The customer had two of them, but the second one was the four-port model and was missing that weird RF/power adapter which is so important and so specific to the 5200. So we just took the two-port model in, as well as some common 5200 games.

Wii Dance Dance Revolution (new) - Strangely new in box, the complete bundle. This was traded in by a woman who had a whole bunch of other Wii games to trade in, but this one was never opened.

No it does not actually, it is only headquartered in a building in Clifton New Jersey where people stare through the window to see all the old games that are for sale. However once in a while (say after 11 AM) the door opens to allows you to partake in acquiring said games.

Busy Tuesday, I'm getting that "summer is coming" vibe. Of course, the local schools had the day off because there were no snow days this past winter, so I had a few more youngsters in the store earlier in the day than I'm used to. Good trade-in day.

PS3 60GB System (loose) - The best PS3 to own in case you didn't know. My educated customers certainly know it, and I get asked about the 60 quite often. Now I just have to figure out a fair price for it.

PS2 Atelier Iris 3 (complete) - First time traded in. RPG's are always welcome.

PS2 Fatal Frame (complete) - I already have one of these in the display case, which makes this seem less important. I'll just drop the price of that one so I can put this one in its place. Oooh! A sale!

NES Sqoon (loose) - I've had thousands of NES games traded in over the years. This is the first time i've seen this one. I don't think I've ever even played this one.

NES GI Joe (loose) - BOTH of 'em. GO JOE!

Genesis Gaiares (complete) - A forum member is working toward getting a 360 and traded in the two NES games above as well as a dozen or so others, two or three boxed, and a handful of Genesis games. This one stood out. And the next one.

Genesis Time Killers (complete) - This game always sells well and my guess is that people think it's really cool all the way up until one minute after they play it.

I've never seen this game on any list for any reason (e.g. best of, underrated, etc), but it is a solid game. Too difficult for most people (myself included), but a lot deeper than it first appears. You have to rescue people, refuel when you can, and shoot lots of anonymous baddies. I like it even though I'm not that good at it, I imagine shooter experts might have an easy time with it, or at least easier. My friend had or rented this back in the day, and I had to ask around here to find out what game it was based on my description. I then sought out a copy... I was much better at it as a kid. Based on your experience (and mine) I think it ought to have a bump to its rarity in the guide, but maybe we are just outliers.

Well, if you are lucky enough to live in/near NJ, you just walk in the front door. Otherwise, you hope what you want is in their eBay store. Which amazingly enough has the name digitalpress also! If you always go to the digitpress forum page directly, you might be missing some nice info, so do yourself a favor and click the banner at the top of the page, then browse the menu on the left side for stuff like store location. My favorites are the Rarity Guide and store webcam. What the heck game was that playing all day today? Looked like a Turbografx running it, but I wasn't sure.

Being a very late release NES game, it doesn't pop up as much as the earlier releases. The box/manual are getting exceedingly harder to find. A CIB one might run you somewhere around $100 now.

Good sales day but not a whole heck of a lot of trade-ins.

Game Boy Micro (new) - No idea why this was still brand new in the box, but then again, we don't ask a lot of questions.

N64 Game Collection (loose) - When a kid says "I got some stuff I wanna get rid of" we expect sports and wrestling games. Not the case this time. Instead, he had Mario Party 3, Mystical Ninja (Goemon), ClayFighter 63 1/3, TWO copies of Castlevania Legacy of Darkness, and a few other decent games.

I bought one from a Toys R Us that closed at a 60% discount and never opened it until I sold it so there are excuses for it being unopened especially from the overspenders like myself (thinks of the two or three paper boxes of unopened games sitting in my computer room).

A short day (Sunday we're open 12 to 5) and yet we still took in almost $900 in trade-ins! The bulk of this was systems - an XBox 360 Premium, TWO PSP's, XBox, PS2, Dreamcast, Game Gear, Super NES... whew! A few notables.

XBox 360 Rock Band (complete) - Well, complete except for the box and in excellent condition. No idea how I'm going to package it, however.

Dreamcast Seaman (complete) - We don't get this one WITH the microphone very often, so this was a nice addition.

Dreamcast Psychic Force 2012 (complete) - Another one I don't get traded in very often. Part of a small collection of Dreamcast games, the others were fairly common.

SNES Lot (loose) - Let's see how long THIS Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Kart and others last. I just can't keep these titles in stock.

Housecleaning. These were taken in over the last week and I forgot to mention them.

SNES Super Scope (complete) - Complete in box but more amazingly it actually works! The few 'Scopes I've had traded in in the past didn't work.

PS1 Suikoden II Strategy Guide - Not in the best condition but how often are you going to find one of these?

OK, yesterday we paid out a lot. Today we paid out MORE. Over $900 in trade-ins. Sound scary? Yup. But on days like this I'm generally happy. When you see big money trade-in days that means we bought stuff that's worth something. It's $200 days that you find a lot of crappy PS2 games, endless waves of GameCube and PS1 systems and the like. Not so today.

THREE Wii Systems (complete) - Yes, complete. All in box, all in excellent condition, all from different sellers. Oh wait - one of them is missing the Wii Sports disc which is both weird and sucky but it's all good, we'll fill that one in.

Did I mention we got three Wii's traded in today?

XBox 360 HALO 3 Edition (complete) - First time we've seen one here.

TurboGrafx-16 System (loose) - Only listed because it's uncommon as a trade-in, not especially rare or valuable. Certainly near and dear to me personally.

TurboGrafx-16 Ghost Manor (jewel case) - No outer box but otherwise complete. Part of the system trade-in, and the most interesting. There was a Bonk's Revenge, R-Type, Keith Courage and a few others mixed in there but nothing we haven't seen before.

PS3 Uncharted (complete) - This one is coming home with me as I have yet to play this game that every PS3 owner who has played it raves about.

Super light trade-in day on an incredibly HOT day in NJ. Just one mentionable.

GameCube Pikmin and Pikmin 2 (complete) - both in excellent condition. Pikmin 2 has become a bit of a collector's item among GameCube collectors. Both games are really FUN, regardless.

Pikmin 2? A collector's item? I bought that game when it came out - it's definitely a great game. But how could it be a collector's item? There were so many produced.

Probably in the same way that FFVII is now fetching upwards of $100 used now. Supply and demand, dude.

Seeing what both Pikmin games go for these days makes me glad that I got both of them for $10 each (the first one was a used copy, and Pikmin 2 was brand new, thanks to a TRU clearance).

A video game doesn't need to be rare in order to become a collectors item. As AB Positive stated, it's all about supply vs. demand.

Lots of common stuff traded in today. There's *always* a highlight though, if you really look for it.

SNES Collection (loose)- Someone brought us a two dozen or so collection of SNES cartridges. We pay top dollar for these, nowadays. This particular customer has pretty good taste in games, I must say. Included in this collection is Super Metroid, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Super R-Type, Starfox, Mortal Kombat 2, Clayfighter, Super Star Wars, Mega Man X, Doom and a few others you'd probably like.

Not much else worth reporting today.

Today felt more like a Saturday than a Friday, but not as many trade-ins as a usual Saturday. That makes it more like a Friday than a Saturday, after all. See?

Game Boy Originals (loose) - two different customers traded in Game Boy original B/W and a few Game Boy Color games, and not the usual dreck. We have a Burgertime in there, Alien vs. Predator, Killer Instinct, Zelda Oracle of Ages, and a few others that I just don't remember. Pretty cool.

SNES Mini System (loose) - this is that second generation Super NES. We get these in pretty often really, but they're kind of an interesting conversation piece when selling systems to customers. Kinda like the NES top-loader.

SNES Megaman 7 (loose) - I didn't think much of this at first, then I checked what we sell it for and thought there was a mistake. No mistake.

There was a time when Megaman 7 used to be the most expensive of the Mega man games on the SNES. Now they have started to pop up everywhere. Finding a complete one that isn't an ex-rental is still a challenge though.

Sales were berserk today (in a good way)! Just a few notable trades.

PS3 80GB System (loose) - We've been getting a lot of these lately. I'm kinda surprised as the system finally has a "killer app" and we've been moving PS3's better than ever. The 80GB is nice because we can "sell" the PS2 backwards-compatibility.

SNES Legend of Zelda: LttP (loose)
SNES Illusion of Gaia (loose)
SNES Turtles IV (loose)
SNES Super Metroid (loose)

Happy Father's Day!

I'm pretty sure I was closed last year on Father's Day. Note to self: don't do that again.

PS1 Final Fantasy VII (complete) - black label version, always a hit with customers.

PS1 Vagrant Story (complete) - A PS1 "3D" RPG whose graphics have actually stood up pretty well.

PS1 Parasite Eve (complete) - always a hit with the ladies.

Saturn System + Collection (mixed) - a loose system with a bunch of US and import games including NightWarriors, Galactic Attack, Galaxy Fraulein (JP), many others.

Saturn Dungeons & Dragons Collection (complete) - Cool enough to be listed on its own, I haven't seen one of these in awhile.

That collection is worth a lot. If I lived near the store, I'd be constantly broke. No kidding.

Personally, Square's best, post-FF7 game and was unjustly overlooked for its time. The presentation for it was superb and rivaling PS2 games showed how great Square was in utilizing the Playstation's "limited" capabilities at the time. Square Enix should have incorporated its battle system into their FF MMORPG or at least given us the long awaited sequel.
