Personally, Square's best, post-FF7 game and was unjustly overlooked for its time. The presentation for it was superb and rivaling PS2 games showed how great Square was in utilizing the Playstation's "limited" capabilities at the time. Square Enix should have incorporated its battle system into their FF MMORPG or at least given us the long awaited sequel.
(And, I'm still waiting...)
Square enix abandoned this game. They also abandoned Threads of Fate and Parasite Eve. Vagrant Story has almost unlimited replay value.

They haven't abandoned Parasite Eve completely. They are working on a game for it (for cell phones :puke:). What a friggin' joke! The long awaited sequel to great series and it's only available on cell phones across the Pacific Ocean. Why doesn't Square "Enorexic" throw up everything we loved about it into a rocket, light it up, and explode into the night sky etching the words "SUCK IT!". :grrr:

I was out on a secret project in NYC yesterday (to be revealed in the next two weeks) so I missed the update yesterday, this is catch-up.
XBox 360 Elite (complete) - complete in box. Sad to see someone give this up but that's just another happy owner down the pike.
PS1 Ehrgeiz (complete) - I have a waiting list for this game. 'Bout time someone coughed one up.
PS1 Xenogears (complete) - black label, nice.
PS1 Legend of Legaia (complete) - not that big of a deal but it's an RPG and it's in great shape so there you go.

Hmmm, not that BIG, huh?
It's a KIOSK! The all-new, designed for your entertainment, middle-of-the-mall-Digital-Press(let) kiosk! One-stand shopping! Of course, given the size of the facility, only GBA games are available here - Lynx carts and UMDs take up too much space. But at DigitalPresslet, you can buy something fun to play on the run, while eating your giant pretzel....

The dungeon mode is actually quite a strange take on the roguelike genre. It's worth it for people who are curious about that alone.
The Final Fantasy VII characters help too i'm guessing.

I guess it's just funny to me that there's such a demand for Ehrgeiz while certainly both Tobals and even the maligned Kakuto Chojin have better fighting engines (and nobody cares about the latter at all). Despite coming out first, Ehrgeiz always struck me as a poor man's Power Stone.

I can understand that, but again, you're only focusing on the fighting game aspect. Those who truly enjoy Ehrgeiz spend more time delving into the dungeons and unlocking stuff. It's a completely separate game from the fighting engine, really.

I didn't know there was more than one tobal released.
The demand comes from fanboys. If you look past the fighting game, the dungeon is a great experience. I warn you though, Ehrgeiz looks like crap on an HDTV.

You're right that the dungeon mode is better. I didn't dislike that portion of the game (though I did walk into a few boss fights by accident). I do wonder, though, if that was always meant to be there as it wasn't in the arcade game or if they added it to "beef up" the home release. It would be one of the few times an extra feature was better than the core game itself.

Well, there technically wasn't more than one released as far as North America is concerned. Tobal 2 would have come here if Square didn't conclude at the time that the only reason anyone bought Tobal #1 was just for the FFVII demo. Kind of a shame really as Tobal 2 is better than the first in every way. Hell, Game Informer even had a big spread on the game in anticipation of it's release here.
There is one thing I can't take away from Ehrgeiz though. The kick ass tag line. "God Bless the Ring"

SUMMER DISCLAIMER: Yes, this thread is my New Year's Resolution, but you're gonna have to bear with me thru these summer months. I'll only be in the store 2 or 3 days a week and will be getting most of my info second hand, and as good as my peeps are, they might miss a few things that you or I would find interesting. Keeping that in mind, let's proceed.
Wii System (complete) - In box and all, with a few upgrades, in fact. This one has a wireless sensor and a ton of virtual console games downloaded to the Wii's memory. This owner traded for a PS3 and also had a few extra controllers and lots of games. Quite nice.
Wii Guitar Hero III (complete) - In box, the software highlight of the above trade-in.
NES Arkanoid Controller (loose) - We get the game more often than the controller, it's good to get one of these so we can package 'em together.
NES Bubble Bobble (loose) - A "top 20" for us as far as NES requests go at the store.
Famicom 76-in-1 (loose) - Bootleg multi-cart. Decent selection of games including most of the ones you see on EVERY multi-cart.
PS3 Grid (complete) - Not a "big time" game but really new, first time traded in.
Wii Dream Pinball (complete)
Wii Target Terror (complete) - Imagine that! Two games I wanted to try finally traded in, on the same day. Coming home with me for review!
Catch-up from yesterday:
I didn't get to log this in - wasn't a big day of trade-ins but we got 15-or-so longbox PS1 games, which always piques my interest. The lot included Warhawk, Doom, Wipeout, Cyperia, Tekken, and several others.

The interesting thing about getting TurboGrafx games in stock is that it brings TurboGrafx owners in to trade some of their stuff so they can "trade up". I sold Syd Mead's Terraforming to a customer earlier, who traded in a small pile of Turbo games as part of the payment. If I can figure out some way to make that cycle perpetual I'd be thrilled.
TurboGrafx-16 Lot (various) - about a dozen TG-16 titles including Dragon's Curse, Las Alert, Ballistix, Veigues Tactical Gladiator, Sidearms, Falcon, Legendary Axe 2 and a few others.
NES Xevious and NES Galaga (complete) - fun to have in the store because of their "pre-classic" classic status.
PS1 Metal Gear Solid (complete) - minty condition, black label version.

Target Terror is a riot in the arcade, and I'm curious about Dream Pinball.
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (also for Wii) is one of the best pinball video games I've ever played. If you haven't tried that one out yet, don't hesitate!

Negative.
I've got an hour left tonight but I'm gonna go ahead and post this up.
PS2 Time Crisis 3 (complete) and Time Crisis 2 - TC3 is complete in the box with the crossover cable and all, very nice. TC2 didn't come in a box (I don't think).
GBA & GBC Boxed Lot (complete) - This collection isn't as nice as the one we received about a month ago, but again, a different guy with a big box of games (maybe 30 titles), many of which were sealed. This guy had a particular "taste", too. Lots of arcade-style (Phalynx, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Tron) and compilation games (Midway's Greatest, Konami Arcade). Everything in great shape. Really nice lot.

On the strangest Sunday ever (expect a blog thing tomorrow), a fairly average sales and trade-in day. If only they knew.
Sega CD Lunar (complete) - part of a Sega CD collection traded in, a little more to follow. It's nice when adults trade stuff in, because the stuff is usually in good condition and sometimes anally (if that's a word) complete.
Sega CD Lunar Eternal Blue (complete) - see above.
Sega CD Vay (missing manual) - ugh... just when you build up faith in the adult-type, they lose the manual on ya. Nearly complete, but that's not good enough!
Sega CD Sonic CD (complete) - that's better.

I'm sorry to hear that. My home was robbed back in November 2000, so I certainly feel your pain. Lots of gaming stuff was stolen but it was nothing compared to the jewelry stolen from my wife. It's a pretty "down" feeling overall, isn't it? I was lucky to have some good friends come to the rescue back then... it gave me a little focus on replacing my wife's stolen stuff.
Needless to say it's pretty hard to rob anything from me these days. You learn a lot having been through it once. So "broken into" yes... "robbed"... not so much. I shall elaborate tomorrow after some much needed sleep!

We got some stuff back, but not much. Ya, I shouldn't have said, "robbed" as I know that's when someone actually holds you up with a gun/knife etc. Certainly much worse that being burglarized... I've never seen this game on any list for any reason (e.g. best of, underrated, etc), but it is a solid game. Too difficult for most people (myself included), but a lot deeper than it first appears. You have to rescue people, refuel when you can, and shoot lots of anonymous baddies. I like it even though I'm not that good at it, I imagine shooter experts might have an easy time with it, or at least easier. My friend had or rented this back in the day, and I had to ask around here to find out what game it was based on my description. I then sought out a copy... I was much better at it as a kid. Based on your experience (and mine) I think it ought to have a bump to its rarity in the guide, but maybe we are just outliers.
wow sounds alot like subterrania for genesis a highly underrated shooter that can almost always be found for about $1.

Prepare yourselves for a summer cornucopia of posts in this thread. School is out and adults are starting to take time off. It's already evident in the past few days' trade-ins, and the store is just a little more known than it was LAST year, when we had a ton of crazy good summer trades.
SNES Zelda Link to the Past (complete) - nice to see this one in minty shape boxed complete.
SNES Mario All-Stars (complete) - see above.
SNES Mega Man X (complete) - as above.
SNES Axelay (complete) - as above, OK I'll stop here. There were quite a few complete boxed SNES games in this trade-in. Sometimes I wonder "where were these people over the last three years" and then I remember that I'm in the most populated area of NJ and just 20 minutes from NYC. I'm glad they're still comin'.
PS2 Jurassic Park (complete) - Hello PS2 collectors. It's pretty hard to find this one in the wild, isn't it?
Nintendo NES Lot (mostly loose) - Two separate trade-in customers provided us with multiple copies of Super Mario Bros 1-3, the TMNT games, Castlevania, Super Dodgeball, Tyson, Ninja Gaiden, and more. Nice re-stock for the Angry Video Game Nerd weekend.
Genesis Shining in the Darkness (complete) - Big deal? No. But my guy Raj loves the artwork and puts this one aside. Plus it's a Genesis RPG, which is something we can't get enough of.
SNES Super Scope 6 (complete) - Didn't we just get one of these and I said we NEVER get these in working condition? Well, that last one sold already and this one is in better condition, box-wise. Might be coming home with me.
Sega CD System (loose) - only mentioned because we've been out of these for a few weeks. Glad to see one back in stock. It's the side-loading later model, by the way.
PS3 DBZ Burst Limit (complete) - first time traded in. Again, this may be coming home with me for a test drive, though I have no interest in owning it.

Joe, I had a thought this morning. You've got the trade ins thread, which is really interesting to read. Have you ever thought about making an "Interesting sales" thread? You could post about the most interesting sale or request of the day. I know you have posted in the past about how popular items fly out the door. It might be interesting to see what uncommon/rare/oddball things people are buying.

Thanks for the well wishes, folks. We didn't get robbed, just broken into. I think you'll find the photos quite entertaining, if not alarming. In any event, upgrades will be made and there's a separate thread to discuss this going forward:

The "trade-ins" thread is a 2008 project. You know me... I'll try something different for 2009, perhaps you've hit on something here! I don't have the time to do more than one of these things in the one hour a day I spend online these days :)

Idea! Trade in video! Simple idea, have a camera on a Tripod, have someone go in front of it, say the date and hold up the various items that were traded in, make it less the 60 seconds and you got a viral hit.

From OUR (collecting) standpoint that would be awesome, but put yourself in my shoes. I don't want anyone to think they've got the "trade-in of the day" because that means automatically they should get the "payoff of the day". I play fair but I'm also a businessman.
I do like the video idea though. There may be something to build on there.

^ Alright how about game of the week where you do a mini review of a game (or 2) that is in the store for sale?

PS2 Jurassic Park (complete) - Hello PS2 collectors. It's pretty hard to find this one in the wild, isn't it?
Only if its JP: Operation Genesis.

Is there any other Jurassic Park game on PS2? You've got me stumped, but yeah, that's the one I was talking about.
Today, just a few more PS2 goodies.
PS2 Fatal Frame (complete)
PS2 Shadow Hearts (complete)
PS2 Shadow of Destiny (complete) - yes, Gamestop has this one listed at $4.99 which is a great deal. It's really really old but a good game that we don't see nearly as often as $4.99 suggests.
XBox 360 DragonBall Z Burst Limit (complete) - we had a PS3 version traded in a day or two ago, this is the first 360 version traded in.

Also, congrats on the awesome trades!

Just a few things today as we begin to batten down the hatches for an "Angry" video game weekend.
PS1 Final Fantasy Tactics (complete) - mint and black label. Every time I see this game I want to start it all over again. Better finish Lost Odyssey first.
PS2 Magna Carta (complete) - we don't see this one too often but this is the complete version with the larger box and extras. On my list of games to play this one is like forty-eighth. That's not bad really, it IS on my radar.
XBox 360 Battlefield: Bad Company (complete) - are you KIDDING me? The game just came out yesterday! The guy says he "beat the game" and is moving onto the next thing. Wow. Just, wow.

Wonder why someone like that just doesn't rent...
67 dollars or so (If your in NY state at least) for what amounts to a 1 day rental is pricey, even if you can get half of that back the next day for trade in value.

To each their own I suppose.
