Hey guys! Just uploaded a new episode of SEGA Versus. It's definitely Ghostbusters season in my household, so I've affectionately dubbed September "Ghostbusters Month" on SEGA Channel. This VS episode will be followed by a full retrospective on both the SMS and Genesis Ghostbusters games.
http://youtu.be/TIBQbdVTY0Q
It always amazed me how much BETTER the SMS version of the game was. Which did you guys play first?
That is some awful NES version, Activision low level programming. C64 version is great though.

I only played the SMS. It's too bad more developers didn't try their hand at this system (Most likely due to Nintendo's dealing).
Now for real fun, compare it to the 2600 version!

I gotta agree with the Angry Video Game nerd on this one, both are just bad games.
Speaking of Ghostbusters, why dont you review the New Ghostbusters II on the NES? THAT game is awesome.

Maybe you can add it in with the Genesis game on a general "good Ghostbuster games" episode, or something.

I can't say I find this video particularly persuasive. I mean, I get that the NES version's graphics aren't as good as the SMS version's (but then, they're not particularly distinguished from the C64 original either). Otherwise, the gameplay itself does not seem to be especially different despite the hyperbolic comments to the contrary.

Having tried the NES, SMS, and 2600 versions of Ghostbusters, I will say that I was only able to beat the SMS version. It didn't even take that long, maybe just a couple of hours. If I'm ever going to play it again, I'll play the SMS version.

My entire Nintendo Wii collection.
Yeah, well most of you know I am all about the classic gaming / computing but there was a time I always wanted the latest and greatest. After many years of always jumping in early with consoles and suffering many kicks in the face as an early adopter (not saying there were not benefits as well) over the last several years I have held back either buying systems only once well established or in the end not bothering at all.
Definitely current gen consoles do not interest me much and really even LAST GEN though for sure tempting I never really jumped in BUT a while back I spotted THIS package on Ebay that just seemed to hit that sweet spot of price / condition / accessories & games that I could not pass on it making it currently still my most "modern" gaming console. I had not bothered to make a video previously having only posted some pics and comments in a few groups and forums but these days as I am spending more of my rare free time sorting, organizing and preparing the collection for down sizing etc, I am using this opportunity to video and post either things I never got around to doing previously or catching up on video ideas and sharing with you all, in some cases I may occasionally cover something I did previously but even then I hope to do it in a better, clearer and more detailed way in an effort to not only improve on past videos but to present to some of the newer subscribers what they may have missed the first time around. As always thanks for watching, always feel free to comment or respond and know I appreciate you all.My entire Nintendo Wii collection.

Having only limited experiences with the SMS I had no idea the this version of Ghostbusters was so much better. I played the NES version sometime in the 90s and my brain asplode with confusion as to how it could be so bad.

Just thought I would share here as well for those wanting to see exactly what to expect out of the retail box.
Description:
Intellivision & Colecovision UNBOXINGS !
Finally received the Pre-Order I had made several months ago! Though tempted to cancel due to some details that later came to light I decided to just wait it out and today I received both of the latest Flashback units from AtGames. These were purchased online from ToyR'Us in the USA and shipped to me here in Canada via iParcels (who seem to have done a fine job overall) I give lots of narration and details so please watch and listen and see for yourselves exactly what you can expect should you decide to pick either of these up. These units were about $40 USD (corrected from my video commented) plus an additional $35 to have both units shipped to my address. I mention both pros and cons of these systems as well should you be interested in the cables/adapters to make the Intellivision Flashback controllers compatible with the original console please see IntellivisionDude video here for links and info:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeEFyel3lqg
*Contents may differ according to retail distributor.

http://youtu.be/ARdkHjDJTVo
I'm thinking they will probably release additional units in the future like they do with the Atari Flashback. The first round of games included with the Colecovision are lacking. No Q*bert, War Games, Cosmic Adventure, Congo Bongo, Time Pilot, Donkey Kong, BurgerTime, Mousetrap and I can go on and on. I alrady have a bunch of Coleco and Intellivision systems both with extensive libraries so does not make much sense for me to get these, but I may anyway just to have. Like most of the stuff I have and don't play. :)

I would love this video either way, but my dad's getting ready for open heart surgery in 2 days, and I got a little emotional. We never did anything quite like this, but we did and do play games. I think back to him beating Contra on one life when I was little, him beating Zelda II before me, playing around with Steel Battalion later and watching him laugh while using that giant controller, or even a couple of years ago when he came by on my birthday and jumped in on some Warlords with my friends. There's something really special about sharing something you enjoy with someone you love and look up to. Thanks for sharing a window into a meaningful time for you.

Hi
I want to share with you the new Dungeon Master review i just made on Youtube:
http://youtu.be/0lOc9txL1E8
This is my first video in a series i am starting about SNES games. My show is called "Tony's Forest of SNES". Go check out my review of Dungeon Master for the SNES, it may not be considered as the best port of DM but this is the first version i played and i am very nostalgic about playing that version. Please pardon my French Canadian accent!
This is done with an iPhone 4S (i don't have any other camera), a cheap samsung earbuds microphone! 12 sheets of green construction paper from dolloramma to build a greenscreen! A lot of nights learning how to use Final Cut Pro X.
Also the other dude made his first review in his new series called "Alex's Shooters". This episode is about Dodonpachi:

I've spent many hours with the original on Playstation, but never played the sequel. I've heard it's ridiculously difficult, though. If you could kindly recruit a Space Harrier in there when you've got an opening.. though I doubt he will last long LOL
Also, I've read that the research tree is kind of borked in this one, and you can actually get perma-stuck if things aren't done in the 'proper' order. Good luck!

Hey gang. In the past year, I've struck up a friendship with the guys over at Nintendo Life. They've long been supporters of my Sega gaming channel "The Sega Channel". At some point recently, I was asked to join the Nintendo Life team and create a new series for them. The result is "I ♥ Virtual Console", a series that will dive into Virtual Console wish list titles as well as titles already released. The first episode I've produced is for the game Monster Party, which has somewhat of a "cult following" with NES fans.
Would love to hear your feedback! Hope you enjoy, and Happy Halloween!

Solid video, good cover and exposure of what was hacked out of it. Not long ago there was a situation where a famicom prototype had been out there a long time, I believe in english, but some Japanese buyer who intentionally buys up protos got it for the sole purpose of keeping it out of the publics hands never to be seen or a copy of it made public, selfish type basically. The Nolan bros found another one online and snapped it up, then released it so people could see the original content and it's a fascinating comparison which you hit on in the video.
The only criticism I have, rebalance the audio as the 8bit jams there were a bit too loud in general and also made it hard to understand you a bit too through my laptop speakers.

Yea the game was officially licensed to have Tysons name right? I'd find it hard to believe that in all these decades he never played the game bearing his name and likeness before.
Tanooki
11-02-2014, 05:10 PM
I guess it's not true, if that image was him playing and not posing. I just remember the guy saying on TV he had never played it before, but as much as he has been hit in the head, he probably doesn't remember a lot of things.
ccovell
11-03-2014, 12:00 AM
Of course, with a lot of licensed (sports) games, the star that puts his name on the game almost never plays the game, and sometimes never even looks at the final product. So it's entirely possible Tyson never played his NES game, and was just posing for the camera.
But at the very least, going by those pics back from 1988, it's not correct to say Mike Tyson never touched an NES, anyway.
