A video I made of the highly secret and barely seen discontinued homebrew on the Vectrex, for IPYVD 2014...

Always a treat when video of super rare stuff like this pops up on the forums. Is there a pretty healthy Vectrex fandom/homebrew scene over in the UK?

Fandom, yes, I know many people who love the Vectrex, because it's a bit different and looks cool. We did have two quality homebrew programmers in Alex Herbert (Protector, YASI) and Alex Nicholson (Spike's Circus, Star Sling) but both have dropped out of the scene for differing reasons. Currently the most notable homebrew creators are George Pelonis, a guy called Der Luchs (Germany), and Kristoff Tuts (Vector Pilot and the upcoming Vector Patrol). Martijn Wenting (Netherlands) also made some quality titles, but has shifted over to other systems in the last few years, and may come back. Chris Tumber (Omega Chase, Vix) has recently returned to the scene and demo'ed some class WIP code allowing for 40-50 objects on screen at the same time WITHOUT flicker! We might get a Geometry Wars clone at last heh...
My collection is arguably second only to Chris Romero, so it takes some dedication and money to keep on top of things. Which is probably why in the new year I'll be thinning down other parts of my overall videogame collection so I can free some space up and have less to worry about.

Hey guys! I'm back with another video. This new series on Sega Channel (http://youtube.com/segamarkiii) aims to showcase Sega games that were made before the Master System (this includes Arcade titles and SG-1000 games).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyLKtVp1HNg
First up is Carnival on Colecovision (1982). I just love this game! It's so charming and I love all the sound effects. Very authentic.
As always feedback is appreciated! Thanks gentlemen and ladies.

Old news report from the early 90s on the Gulf War and how people growing up with video games benefits the armed forces(Don't know how credible that is but whatever). Also includes arcade and Radio Shack footage.

Wow! Maybe we'll actually see a version of Major Havoc for the Vectrex someday (the author of Havoc said the Vectrex couldn't scan fast enough to run that one).
Sounds like a challenge to me...

They make a Sega Genesis flashback too, that almost seems worth it for $20 cuz it contains over 50 good games, the usual suspects too like Golden Axe, Sonic, Streets Of Rage...

My big question on these types of machines is if they play as well as the originals. Atari Flashbacks included on that one.

It's done so as to keep the volume of the commentary track the primary focus.
Except in the case of the NSMBWii. That was done in a deliberate effort to skirt the auto-claim bullshit, which failed anyway because Nintendo claims visual content. No other studio does this.
Fro the other videos, yes the game audio is lower, but not so low its impossible to hear.

I dunno how difficult it'd be with whatever video editing program you use but sidechaining the commentary track with the video audio would let you raise the music volume a bit but have it duck down whenever you're talking, it's a simple process in a DAW but may not be possible with a video editor. Imo it's a little too low now you could probably raise it a bit even without doing what I said.
Great videos so far though, they're looking really clean.

Sometimes dubbed "Super Atari-Bros." thanks to the primitive VCS-like visuals, I think that's both unfair to the VCS (the 2600 was actually capable of some pretty decent animation of which Pixel Kingdom omits on purpose) and I also think that comparing it to the Atari is missing the whole point, which is minimalism.

I hate to admit it but I never could figure out how to play that game properly unlike the original Civilization. I had both of them on a combo CD package. It looks like a fun game though, but it's something I doubt I could look back to at this rate as I'm planning on checking out Alpha Centauri sooner than later.

I know how that is. That CD I said I had with both the games on it, I was so into CIV I actually took the old PDF file on there, printed it myself on a home printer in black and white, 2 pages landscape style, folded, glued each together and made over a 1/2 inch book out of it, then bound it with some thick tape. I've had that thing like 20 years, always was useful and a solid read.

Hi guys,
I started a walkthrough for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game on my youtube channel. This was one of the first video games that I ever played.
I decided to attempt a one life challenge of the game. Which is difficult to pull off if you're playing on a Nintendo but extremely hard to do on a keyboard (which I'll be using for this play-through.)
Just in case you've never beaten the game before, I'll show you the easy way to do it.
Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the videos.
Also, if you have any suggestions for how to make them better please let me know.

You should try "NCH Debut Video Capture" it's freeware and doesn't add watermarks to your videos. The one live run is a pretty difficult test, I don't have the patience to jump around avoiding enemies in beat-em-ups so I always end up losing a few lives.

Yeah, I'd really like to get rid of the watermark in the center of the screen. It's from the video editing software that I'm using.

I want to share with all of you the newest episode of "Tony's Forest of SNES". This time around, i talk about Lagoon. I have great memories of playing that game when i was a kid. It's not as complete as we would've liked it to be but since a lot of people have been asking us to show some gameplay this will have to do for now.

If anything is too sedate, it's the game-play shown. Long straight-aways, huge turns, and wide road all speak to the footage looking boring - take away the graphics and that's exactly what you get. I'm not suggesting Daytona and Virtua Racing don't have any of those aspects mentioned but they don't make up the majority of the action (in Daytona's case anyway beyond 3-7 Speedway). The music doesn't really fit but that might boil down to having different preferences. I'm surprised this wasn't released yet although I reckon the development team is rather small making for a long haul.
Greg2600

The music is definitely subdued, as are the tracks. This game felt a LOT like the Crusin' series rather than the SEGA stuff. I didn't understand the need for constant drifting, I hate that.
