There had been a new one for the last few months:
http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157184
The old one just got too big and would crash over and over, so now they're yearly like the "Beaten in 20**" topics. But since it's 2012 now, time for a new one anyway. You should edit the title to include the year.

A whole lot of Modern Warfare 3, a tad of Gears of War 3 and of course Halo Reach. But lately what I've been devoting a good amount of time to is Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic. I never played the Yavin Station add on content and I'm building up to that(13 hours in so far) now. I'm also still alittle bummed that only Pc gamers get Star Wars: The Old Republic so this is another way of me coping.

I finished Untold Legends - Brotherhood of Blade today. You can clearly see the upgrade the second part got. Never the less it's a fun game. Now I've just started Star Ocean - First Departure. I was a bit surprised by the fighting system since I expected round-based fights. Instead it's action all the way. Not a bad thing tho, so far it's fun. The story itself is also interesting, I just need to figure out how the controls (in therms of items, skills and so on) work exactly. I still think I can allready say it's a very good game: cut-scenes are beautiful and the graphics in general are nicely done, the music is sweet and story and the general gameplay look good too.

Started the original Assassin's Creed after trying out Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and hating it. Too many dipshit side missions and money gathering. To me, it's just GTA set in ancient times with Dead Rising-esque side missions thrown in as filler. Yes, I know there is more to it than that but some of the open world-find this shit-do this deed-earn this coin/trinket/clue games like that bore the hell out of me.
I am enjoying Assassin's Creed though. It's a little bit more linear and yes, there are side quests, open city environments, and the like but it doesn't seem as bloated as Brotherhood.

2012 is going to my year of "I'm tired of seeing it as 'unplayed' on my Backloggery so I'm just going to start playing the darn thing." Aside from Skyrim and an occasional round of UT3, everything I've played this year has been new to me, but long waiting on my shelf.
Last weekend I played Braid and Machinarium, both all the way through in one day each.
Skyrim (PC) - It's very fun in small doses, but I can't sit for hours with it. I play an hour or so every few days.
Gears of War (PC) - This time I'm giving it a chance with the 360 pad. Now I understand how the gameplay actually works. Too many unfair sections with crappy cover, success is kind of random. I keep getting stuck in walls and having to restart from the last checkpoint.
Bioshock 2 (PC) - It's okay, but not really amazing. I wish it had NPCs to make it more of an adventure/RPG, rather than such a straightforward shooter.

I'm not sure why I've never posted here before, seems like an interesting thread...
Final Fantasy III (SNES) - I've been playing quite a lot of this since I got it from Christmas, I forgot just how fun this game can be.
Pokémon Emerald Version (GBA) - Been replaying it, doing a Grass-type only playthrough, I got rid of all of my Pokémon games when my DS Lite was stolen last year, so I need to replay some of these older ones to reacquire the Pokemon from them.
Gears of War 3 (X360) - Long done with the campaign, still occasionally hopping on multiplayer with friends.
That's it for now, I'm planning on trying to beat a lot of my RPGs this year, so you'll probably be seeing a lot of them on here in the coming days.

I found a boxed Master System at Goodwill last month and finally got some games at the tail end of last week to kick the tires.
With that, I've been playing Hang On, After Burner and Out Run. I've also been playing a good deal of Road Rash and Vectorman II on the Genny.
Of the modern stuff, I've been playing a lot of Pac-Man CE DX and Daytona USA on the Xbox 360.

Yesterday:
Daytona USA (Dreamcast)
18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker (Dreamcast)
Dead or Alive 2 (Dreamcast)
It has been a while since I fired up the little white box to enjoy some arcade favorites. Playing the games on the VGA Box is an interesting experience on a newer HD widescreen television. The picture doesn't want to quite cover the whole screen, leaving a vertical black bar on the left side only. I compensate for it anyway as the graphics blow me away every time! Daytona USA was fun to play, but just as hard as it always been to me. The controller is so twitchy! 18 Wheeler makes me wish I had a bench or one of those video game rocker chairs to play with. Dead or Alive 2 was on of the first games I purchased for the Dreamcast after seeing the demo that came with the system. I'm not huge on fighting games but the graphics, story, and gameplay sucked me in.
Today:
Street Fighter II (SNES)
I haven't played this game in a few months since I found it complete in the box at the flea market. I decided to play on the normal difficulty and see if I could make it all the way through. It turns out....I can't! I made it to Vega (after losing a few times) and kept getting my ass handed to me. I finally gave up and shut the SNES off. It's no fun to get frustrated playing games, huh?

Disney Universe on 360 and loving it and really fun platformer and you do the movies to collect costumes for your character to wear and use there weapon in each stage of each movie, finished up with all the movies but Wall-E then have to go back to replay some levels to unlock more costumes....pretty fun!.

After going goodness knows how long without playing much of anything, I'm finally getting back into some gaming. I set my mind to beating Kendo Rage on Super Nintendo, and I finally did it (on Normal), after playing the game casually several years ago and getting close but never quite finishing it off. Good to mark that off the mental list. Not the greatest little platformer, but still decent fun.
I'm also playing Gradius on NES, but I don't know if I'll stick with it long enough to beat it. I haven't played the NES version of Gradius in many years, and I wanted to see if I'd be any better now, especially with how I blew through the first Gradius on PSP not long ago. Well, the NES version still creams me, but with a little practice, I have gotten farther in it than ever before. I'm not sure if I ever cleared the third stage in the past, but now I've made it to the sixth. We'll see if I end up beating it or not.

No. It doesn't matter how old or current they are, all video games are fair game in this thread. As for me, I've been playing Left 4 Dead on the 360 trying to finish up the single player campaign before hopping online. I've also been putting more time into MW3 and Halo: CE Anniversay. On my PS3 I just started playing Ninja Gainden: Sigma and I am once again replaying parts of Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic for Xbox.

In that case, I'm playing Fable: Lost Chapters, Phalanx (SNES) (when rushed for time), Super Metroid (when I have more time), Golden Axe Warrior, and Final Fantasy IX, depending on which game I'm in the mood for. Sadly, I've really only had time for short bursts of Phalanx here recently.

I think we did have a daily playing topic in modern gaming at one point, but it's just kind of a mess to split it up. Same deal with "Beaten in 20**"; new or old, doesn't matter. Sometimes it does feel like I'm practically the only one playing retro games in here, though. o_O

This was talked about awhile ago..and i've thought about it many times,
You see I created this topic way back here and on other websites.. and this site has gone through many changes..I'm pretty sure(I'm getting old) when I created this there was just one Gaming forum area, not a modern and classic at the time..and or well at the time the only thing I played was retro classis..
after seeing a Modern Gaming,Arcade Alley I thought about making new topic to seperate the gaming ..but I play so much different stuff today that spans new, old, arcade, pinball,Import that I just feel it would be to much to keep up with so I just keep posting everything I play in this thread and that's pretty much how it's remained.
But I don't post daily as I don't have the time.
Yesterday I play Super Mario Bros..testing a NES Top Loader for Ebay.
I still play and enjpy that NES game..
The other day I played:
Mega Man X SNES
Mario's Time Machine SNES
Wario's Woods SNES
Donkey Kong 64 N64
Today I'm messing with my Turbo Express, thinking about selling it.
That took me to play my Atari Lynx..
LYNX ..California Games
LYNX Gauntlet..
I might play my Nomad today..but am looking for a specific game that I don't own.
So far every night I play.
Xbox 360 Assassins Creed II....I prefer very long playing games that take a long time to finish..
I also bought Assassins Creed Brotherhood used to play after this..
I blew through RAGE.... such a short game, that pissed me off..
I want to buy Skyrim..but I need the push, someone to convince me that i would like it.

Still not playing a whole lot since I'm pretty busy, but I have been reading plenty of Nintendo Power. I'm up to issue 49, so I decided to take a crack at B.O.B. on Super Nintendo as I read the coverage on it. It seemed pretty lame from past experience, but having played it more now, I'd say it's more middle of the road. Not particularly bad, not particularly good. Pretty challenging, though, even just a few stages in. Typical American game design of this era. A lot of cheap shots and deaths that you just have to eat since there's no opportunity to react, so there's a lot of memorization involved, although even that doesn't always help because the response time is kind of slow. I wish this game provided passwords a little more often rather than one every three stages. Some nice little touches in terms of animation, but the music blows and is repeated way too much. The overall visual style is getting way too repetitive also, but hopefully that'll change. I'm up to stage 10 so far. At least there's a little bit of variety to the gameplay. In the 9 stages I've completed, one was a boss and another was racing around in some kind of ship.

I'm playing B.O.B. on Super Nintendo intermittently, but I'm up to... stage 15, I think? I beat the second boss, which was the last of the first world (with three worlds in total, I believe). It's kind of troubling that I had to get through four stages to get my last password (five if you count stage 14, which was basically just a cinematic sequence). I hope there won't be much more of that, and I definitely hope they won't bump it even further.

Battletoads for the NES... Man is that game hard!
I didn't get to post this before, but a few weeks ago I went to the arcade about a half hour from where I live and played 40+ games from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. This was a HUGE deal for me as I am only 14 years old now, so I never really got to play at an arcade before. Now I know what it was like for kids back then... Man I wish I was born earlier! And even better than that, my dad knows how much I love retro video games so he promised to take me there once a month! And this weekend, on Saturday, it will have been a month which means I can go kick it old skool once again! And even better than that, I'm allowed to bring my 2 best friends which I have progressively turned into retro gamers too, and appreciate retro games as much as me! Man, life is good!

Chipping away at B.O.B. on Super Nintendo. I'm on the 10th stage of the third/final world. I'm a little intimidated by this world, since the game was already fairly challenging and everybody seems to say that the game REALLY goes crazy with the last world. It's definitely been kicking my butt and took a good deal of practice just to clear what I have. I must be getting pretty close to the end, though, so we'll see if it goes even nuttier yet.
I also had some fun trying out recent acquisitions. I tried out Yoshi, BurgerTime, Solar Jetman, Shadow of the Ninja, and Kung-Fu Heroes on NES, Uniracers and Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! on SNES, and Iggy's Reckin' Balls on N64. Some pretty decent games among those.

So far I've only needed to use guides for the Soma Evolve system, and the Heal Stone options. The rest I figured out through trial and error.
It a pity that Namco never localized this title, it really is one of the best portable Tales games. Oh well, if the speculation/rumors about Hearts getting a Vita remake are true, maybe we will eventually see it in English.

Recently finished Neutopia on TG-16. Was very surprised how it stuck its claws in me and kept me playing to finish when I initially thought of it as a poor Zelda clone.
Fiddled around with the Mass Effect 3 demo along with demos for a variety of games on XBL (yeah, they were so good I forgot their titles...oy).
Before work yesterday I dipped my toes into the pool of Mystic Defender for Genesis. And speaking of pools, lately my daughter wants to "play" a game so I pop in Super Mario 64 and swim in the pond by the castle as she says"Get the fish! Get the fish!" as she flails on the NES controller I handed her.

I'm a bit behind on my modern RPGs so I've started playing through some Blue Dragon on my 360. I've had the game for months and its finally time to play it.

I'm halfway thru Alan Wake: American Nightmare. It's short but thats to be expected considering it's a $15 downloadable title. One change I definitely don't like are the check point lights going out immediately. I also played Castlevania: Circle of The Moon and HAL Wrestling on my GBA while waiting for my car to get serviced. HAL Wrestling is one of the cheapest wrestling games ever. The CPU will act like it's a real prowrestler and hardly ever lets you get any moves in. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to play that once again.

will i be judged if I say I'm currently playing NBA Hangtime (N64) a lot? Like an unhealthy amount. The AI in that game makes it addicting. The better you play, the better they play. It makes for competitive gameplay against a computer I didn't know was possible back then.
