One of the NES units has obviously been worked on at one point as large woodscrews are holding it together. LOL That one worked great, the other is a bit touchy so I swapped their internals. Finally - the hodgepodge NES I cobbled together from parts I had lying around and a mainboard that stank of cheap cigarettes after my trusted original NES died is gone! :)

I haven't sat down and gone through cleaning the games yet, I'm just too tired tonight. Most of them are titles I need, with the exception of Donkey Kong Classics and Xenophobe which will go into bundles unless they move individually. (just actually sent my girlfriend a copy of Donkey Kong Classics but the NES port of Xenophobe - eh) All the controllers work fine and have been tossed in the controllers box. The Genesis 3 works great and will be up for sale after I install a US/JPN region switch - if you're interested PM me - it should be up during the last week of the month. No problem with the Genesis games either - bundle bound as well.

Oh, and of course with the exception of the NES games, everything was cleaned up before the picture was taken. I dream of the day I come across someone selling stuff at a flea market that looks as presentation good as the things I sell. LOL

well, i think i've determined that i have a serious issue. Bob the Builder? i mean, it was only a dollar... but i just couldn't leave it in the thrift. i HAD to rescue it. i'm hopeless.

on the brighter sides of things... that 7th Guest is a pretty rockin find for a buck. and those genesis cardboard boxes are MINTY, which isn't something i see too often...

I went to my local game shop to see what Dreamcast games they had. They were all £5 each, so I decided not to bother. The manager knows me so he said he could do a deal. £25 for all 10.

I like this manager much more than the old one.:D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/fibblewith/Pictures.jpg

I also got a CD repair kit this morning to fix the scratched up Dreamcast games I got yesterday. I tried about 5 and only one of them worked but they're fine now.

Had a great day Gsailing Sat. Went to a town-wide sale with a ton of sales. Got a few video game finds, but not as much as I hoped for so many sales. A couple non-gaming related things really made the difference. Anyway, I found the following:
http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/ma/masco/gba.jpg

GBA w/carry case & light $5

Also got a bare bones PSone for $1(not pictured)

http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/ma/masco/xbox.jpg

Xbox system w/intec contr. and Halo 2 game $30 @_@

The kid said he did not have it very long and he just got the 360 and didn't need it any more. Didn't he know he could trade it in for more than that. It still has the little plastic strip on the front. I checked the date on it and it is 7/2005 manufacture. I bet he has had it less than 6 months. ANyway, score for me.

That was it on game related things, but I also got these:

http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/ma/masco/gum.jpg

Gumball Machine w/Stand in like new condition $5

http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/ma/masco/hotdog.jpg

$20 for a commercial hot dog steamer. As you can see it works.
I used to work in restaurant and know ho much this stuff cost new. Checked ebay and sure enough it sells for around $200 and up used.

After I am done selling the xbox(already have one) & the hot dog steamer, I might go get the 360 basically for free or close to it after profits. Good day for me.

Hit up another EB games yesterday before the B2G1 free sale ended. N64 selection was HUGE, and the number of quality titles was decent. However... the number of quality titles w/o label damaging stickers on the cart labels was slim... No PS1 games to be seen anywhere...

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/7954/im000395altered5av.th.jpg (http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=im000395altered5av.jpg)

I hate N64 cart labels, I wish Nintendo used the plastic laminent throughout their cart manufacturing history. I doubt the cost cuts saved them much during the lamination hiatus from the N64 to mid GBA lifespan.

Here are my acquisitions for the previous week. I do not call them "finds" because most of them came from either trades on DP or from GameStop.

First, I got these from Vectorman0. $14 shipped and both are pretty minty.
http://jibbajaba.com/images/P1010293.JPG

So I am finally getting an XBox. Not a 360, but an XBox. It was the only console of that generation that I never bought. So since it is on it's way in the mail, I figured I would go ahead and use the GS/EB sale to stock up on some of the system's must-have games on the cheap.
http://jibbajaba.com/images/P1010290.JPG
Halo 9.99
Top Spin 7.99
Star Wars KOTOR Free
Burnout 3 12.99
Prince of Persia 12.99
Jade Empire LE Free

http://jibbajaba.com/images/P1010291.JPG
Project Gotham Racing 2.99
Halo 2 Guide Free

The cool part is that they are having the trade in deal where you get an extra $10 when you trade in any 4 current-gen games. There are no exceptions, so I took in a bunch of sports titles and other shit games (8 total) After trade ins, all of that XBox stuff cost me about $23 out of pocket, which averages out to a little over $3 per game.

A bit outside of the gaming, I stumbled across something amazing at the pawn shop today. They had a Pioneer CD/CDV/LD player for $59.95 with a huge stack of LD movies for $1.99 each. I was returning a stick of RAM to them that apparently no one I know has a motherboard for (256MB DDR2 PC4200) and it was $9.95 so I was looking for something to get. For $10 I decided to go with 5 laser discs and when I got to the counter, the manager asked if I wanted 5 more discs and the player for $20 total. I couldn't pass up that offer so I jumped on it and dug out 5 more movies and what I got were:
Full Metal Jacket
Jurassic Park
Dragonheart
A Few Good Men
Dances with Wolves
Silence of the Lambs
Independence Day
Apollo 13
12 Monkies
Top Gun

All were in near mint condition and appeared to not be viewed but maybe a few times, even the platic covers were still on them! So with them being priced at $1.95 each (~$20 total) I got a free player! The Pioneer player is Dolby Surround 5.1, AVI/s-video and also has a built-in Karaoke, pretty damn spiffy! I'll post some pictures later tonight. :D

Yet another slow weekend...

from Book Broker:

Lunar Legend - cart only
Super Mario Land 2 - cart only
Power Blade 2 - cart only

$5 each

from Book & Music Exchange:

Zelda: Majora's Mask NP guide - $4

And now a rant:

In Book Broker's Dreamcast section was a DC-X boot disc with a mystery PAL game (from the angle I was looking at, I couldn't see what it was). I asked to look at it, and saw it was Shenmue II. I was overjoyed when I heard the price - $15. BUT... of course that was too good to be true, as it was only half the game! (discs 3 and 4)
I informed the person in charge of games that this was the case, and I was both depressed and pissed off about this issue. He went around asking all the guys working "just who in the hell took this game?!". I wonder what is going to happen to the person who didn't know that it was a 4-disc game... :smash:
And so the search continues... :frustrated:

P.S. To the Euro DC collectors out there... you're right. THOSE CASES SUCK! :deadhorse:

Power Blade 2 is pending out... Lunar Legend and SML2 are up for trade as they're spares.

Well, i used to think they were really nice when all i had were the games i bought brand new, then you start buying used games, and then you buy stuff in the post and you know something is going to get broken.

Cauterize is back and is a boot sale demon again. Wow as usual. I wonder if there are any boot sales in Manchester now i am staying here for the summer. The one back at home is within walking distance and last summer i went maybe 3 or 4 times and got some nice stuff.

Oh, and I bought on UK launch day:
Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?
So glad they kept a good name, though a little long, compared to Brain Age. The Training bit should remain.

Sailorneorune
06-12-2006, 06:44 PM
@ Julio - ok, those cases suck for used games.

I'm a little disappointed at The Broker for letting some asshole give them half a game... I may just swallow my pride and get the Shenmue II that's been sitting at the Book & Music Exchange for about 3 years... I just hope that copy isn't the one that was broken and traded in... ^^;

I also have the same gumball machine,
funny story, when i was younger I had it filled with gumballs or candy all the time when my friends came over they'd spend like 1-2$ every day getting gumballs from it
the funny part?

I always had it on the free setting, but they always put quarters in anyways ;-)

also there was a c3po figure stick in the top of the gumball machine for 5-6 years afterwards (too lazy to take it out)

When they were layed out over my bed, I knew it was going to take a long time to find all of their respective games and shelve them all. Took a good 4 hours for sure.

Don't get me wrong, though. That's not all my games. That's probably half of my total games right there. ;)

Had a very productive and expensive week:

http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/pokecards1.jpg
http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/pokecards2.jpg

first off at the goodwill I found a Pokemon yellow strategy guide for 25 cents and 2 binders FILLED with early pokemon cards, lots of rares and holos and a bunch of the first set first edition holo cards including blastioise venusaur chansey and raichu (which was one of the very few first ed. cards i needed to complete my set )
theres a ton of stuff from base set up till fossil if anyone would be interested as I have most of em already (I remeber there was a few people here looking to complete the early sets)

At the local savers I found this pile of game related goodness today:

http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/charmanders.jpg

the plush charmanders were 2$ each (and adorable) and amusingly are slightly differnt sizes I have a larger version of the same design kicking around somewhere, i'm curous to how many differnt sized ones they made. the ds bag was 2$ and the really nice pokemon silver/gold bag was a little overpriced at 4$ but I grabbed it anyways. Zelda guide was only a dollar..despite it being an abysmally shitty game..I figured i might as well get the guide for such a low price..and spekaing of abysmal..I grabbed the tekken movie..I was curious to how bad it was but never wanted to pay 100-20 for it.. might be worth the 99 cents i paid, and the chip and dale game was only 2$ I've been finding alot of random disney tiger lcd games there as of late, didn't even know this one existed.

I grabbed a few pc manuals for 25 cents each at the goodwill as well:
http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/civ3manual.jpg
only one i really wanted was civ3, but since i use psp alot I figured i might as well have manuals for it..even if it is the wrong versions ;-)

not quite gaming related but I also picked up these transformers:

http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/g1transforme4rs.jpg
nothing really specail but they sorta "came with the meal" because in the same lot i found one of my long time holy grails!

http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/fourstar.jpg
an extremely rare "bootleg" set of transformers from the 80s called I shit you not "mr hard hat" they were all remolded constructicons released by the best knockoff company ever to grace the earth.

so overall a very good week for me findwise :-)

I've got that same binder with 'Pokemon' on it, it's what I had when I collected the cards, and it's where they are all stored still. Right when it died down, I was one of the few kids that didn't try and sell their stash, so I've got most of the base, all of Jungle, all of Fossil, and then some TR and Gym Trainers, as well as some fairly rare Japanese ones. About 4-5 sheets of the 'vending machine' ones, with the fan-made art as the pictures.

back when it was the big thing, I worked at a card shop and we were one of the offical pokemon leagues, I ran the league (jim the gym leader) was alot of fun back then, and I met alot of great people trhouggh it, plus ended up with buttloads of cards, promos and otherwise. and I was one of the few who didn't sell his collection just to get into the next big fad (dbz and ugiho i think were next)

Pics?

Here you go: http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=14aihax

It also came with five cart-only games, nothing spectacular:

Adventure Island
Jaws
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 3
Tetris

The carts and the system box each had prices written on them in grease marker, so I'm assuming they were sold at a thrift store at some point.

Certainly worth $0.75, though. ;)

i would have offered 50 cents take it or leave it

Isn't 75 cents cheap enough? After all, it included 5 games, aswell, And i'd have paid 75 cents alone for the games, even though i already have the latter 3..

You guy's might think I'm crazy but I got from my friend a PSP for $9.00 with Lumines, Untold legends BoTB, Coded Arms, and Ridge Racer. Plus Spider Man 2 the movie. If you want verification contact Vintagegamecrazy.

Although i don't doubt it, i don't believe it. But i know it's possible.

Mega Man X3 - Free :eek 2:

I asked a freind over the net if he had any rare SNES game he would sale, he told me he would give me X3 for free.

I lucked out.

Awesome!

As for my finds, nothing.

This week I found a pretty good deal on a Dreamcast lot (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=87268).

Also, I got a copy of Action 52 for the Genesis for $4.99 Cdn (approx. $4.48 USD). The box is a little rough, but the cart and instructions are in great condition. Actually, the box is in good condition, not great - but definately good. :)

theres a ton of stuff from base set up till fossil if anyone would be interested as I have most of em already (I remeber there was a few people here looking to complete the early sets)

That would probably be me *L*
I've actually finished up to Fossil at this point, but if you've got any of these, I think we could make a deal...

Stinger is rad! It's the second NES game I ever owned. I really think it helped shape my gaming tastes. not towards shooters, but towards the bizzare and interesting.

Funny coincidence. I just got back from my local Savers and found that exact Charmander (the big one) for $4. It's sitting on my daughter's bed right now awaiting her eventual discovery (with apologies to Jibbajaba).

Huh? What do I have to do with this? What the hell is a charmander?

The Games Are As Follows: (Taken from Auction Description)
-DJ Boy (with Aunt Jamima boss that was edited out of the US version)
-Psy O Blade (like Snatcher)
-Bloodshot (PAL game, Doom clone with amazing graphics)
-Chiki Chiki Boys (excellent platformer by Capcom)
-Ninja Strategy game (that I can't read the title of, basically turn based strategy with ninjas and samurai)
-Anime based Martial arts game (can't read the title of this either, but it's one of those fighting games with tons of anime intermissions and very animated battle scenes)

Hey mgriff, could you post better pictures of the two games you can't figure out the titles of? I don't know much Japanese, but I can probably look up what games they are. :)

Haven't posted any finds in a while so I thought I'd go ahead with this week.

First up hit Kmart and CC for games on clearance and got the following:

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/4056/dcp00824lx.th.jpg (http://img215.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dcp00824lx.jpg)

The GBA items were from Kmart and were $1.50 each

The Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube games were from CC and they totaled $13.00

Then hit the only yard sale in the area advertising video games and found the following:

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5605/finds7sg.th.jpg (http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=finds7sg.jpg)

N64 games were $2 each
Home Improvement was $3
PS1 games were $2 each and the Tiger Woods game does have the South Park video on it. :)

Finally they had this little beauty:

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5849/dcp00809ut.th.jpg (http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dcp00809ut.jpg)

The Japanesse version of Chef. The box is a little worn and has writing on the front but it is complete and only a mere $5.00 :D

There's no listing for the Japanesse version in the Guide. The US version is listed as R5 $75 loose. Does anybody have a idea on the value of the Japan version?

saw this in the final batch of PS1 games an EB by my house had left... had never seen it before, it's a puzzle game, and i'm a puzzle game whore, so i came home with it. it's actually based off of Puzz-loop, so i'm familiar with it already... hope to give it a shot in the very near future.

oh, apparently the guide says it's an R4/$15 title... not too shabby.
