Sure you can, it's just a bit of a pain since you have to contact their support, give them your key, proof of ownership (receipt, scan of the game + contents), and then wait for them to send you a new key.

Nope, sorry. They will not accept receipts if you purchased the game on eBay. The procedure you mentioned is only valid if you bought the game, brand new, at a retail store. I looked this up a while back to make sure nobody scammed me on eBay. :(

Generally if you can send them a photo of the disk and product key and prove you have it in hand, that's proof of ownership enough.

At least it was for Diablo II back in the day.

... But Diablo II's by Blizzard, not Steam.

Blizzard's a bit more flexible. If you send them the jewel case with the CD key sticker, they'll deactivate the key in use by that other person and send you a new one. (Source (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=adt0641p).) So Blizzard doesn't really care if your copy is used, as long as you actually have the original media and CD-Key. You'll have to wait a month for your new key to arrive.

Steam, however, will not care if the game is used or not. If you bought the game new from a retail store, and have a receipt to prove it, you will get a new CD key. If you didn't, and you bought it used, you have to pay ten bucks, and wait six to eight weeks for your new key.

...

Sorry for the off-topicness. >_>'

We were nearing the end of the New Castle flea market yesterday when I found these:

GCN Zelda Collector's Edition
GCN Mario Kart Double Dash

Both were complete for $20 bucks. I would have been happy to pay $20 for the Zelda alone. Yay for me!

Um, do people say GCN anymore? :hmm:

New Castle in Pennsylvania? Is that a weekly thing? I live near there and have never heard of it.

A fellow Pirates fan here at DP Land alerted me to the fact that EB was having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free offer this week that included all used games. I was going to wait until Monday to go game-searching because that's my birthday but decided to go today in case the sale was over by next week. Here are the 3 GameCube games I picked up, the last one listed being the free one...

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time including Master Quest
Super Mario Strikers
Mega Man Anniversary Collection

I also recently got the Mega Man X Collection so I've a lot of mega adventures to go through. And while I was typing up the above, the UPS Man came and he brought me...

Konami Classics Arcade Hits for the DS. This gives me an even dozen DS game cartridges...

This is a game I've been meaning to buy but I was hoping the price would come down but it never has. The used price was still only $3 off a new version but with the free game, I'm happy with the purchase. I do hope I enjoy it because I've never really gotten familiar with the whole sport of soccer.

I just recently became obsessed with collecting video games. I may have a problem.

This weekend I found a Donkey Kong 64 for $1

An Atari kids controller for $1.50

And, one of those UFORCE controllers (looks like battleship) for the NES for $2. I have no idea why I bought it.

And, I found a Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers for the NES for $2
