A little catching up, as I was away on holiday with Mrs. digitalpress for 4 days :). We don't get out much.
PS2 Shadow Hearts (complete) - Not entirely sure why this belongs on an "interesting" list, but one of my guys at the store thinks so. That's enough for me.
PS1 Parasite Eve
PS1 Parasite Eve 2 (complete) - The first is a common request. The second is the game that a lot of people buy and learn as the rest of us did initially that it's not very much like the first.
Sega Master System Buster Douglas Boxing (complete) - Are we about to find out that this game isn't as rare as legend has it? Two of 'em in a month. There are still some Master System games that have NEVER been traded in. One should wonder...
TG-16/Duo Bonk 3 CD (complete) - Big time collectible!
PS1 Castlevania Symphony of the Night (complete) - Huzzah for black label oritinal versions, eh?
Virtual Boy System (loose) - In superb condition and working order, this will be placed into one of several "orphan" game packages (box/internals/packing) to make a complete set.

Wow, Bonk 3 is a nice rarity to have traded in. Its my least favorite of the series, but a title thats rarely seen, even on ebay.

Today (Labor Day), as phoned in by Raj.
SNES Soulblazer (loose)
SNES Lufia (loose)
SNES Brawl Bros (loose)
SNES 7th Saga (loose)
SNES Combatribes (loose)
SNES Saturday Night Slam Masters (complete)
SNES Super Metroid (complete)
SNES Super Punch-Out!! (complete) - JOY
Sega CD Lunar (complete)
There was some DS game mentioned that I wrote down too hastily to be able to read back. Looks like something with SMB (Super Mario Bros?) and boxed. When I write fast I can't read it back for shit and that's happened more than I care to admit in this thread :)

I have that same problem. I've learned to deal with it by printing absolutely everything. Aside from my own signature, I've actually forgotten how to write certain letters in cursive.

I don't have one but my friend Tim does. I doubt he'd have a problem letting us use it.
If we ever do multitap games I'd love to set up a Bomberman or some 8 player Lords of Lunar. You know that Warlords knockoff on the 'Making Of' disc for Lunar: SSSC? I have the game and two Playstation multitaps waiting to get some more mileage.

Yesterday:
PS1 Final Fantasy VII (black label, complete) - You know the way I feel about this game. At one time I had four of them in the store. A few days later everyone is looking for it, and they're all gone. I cannot stress the importance of the presence of this game in any decent game store!
NES Game Collection (loose) - A small pile of loose games. Notables included Donkey Kong Classics, Contra, and Little Ninja Bros.
360 Mercenaries 2 (complete) - First time traded in, the game's a week old. Usually I grab these to try 'em out first but a customer grabbed this one first.
Today:
NES Deluxe Set (complete) - Whoa, this is the huge box with ROB and Zapper and two controllers and Gyromite and Duck Hunt. The contents were in very good condition, ROB looks like he's never even been used. Documentation was all present. The NES needed pins, that's already taken care of, it's out on the floor.
NES Game Collection (complete) - We got about 10 loose and 25 complete NES games with the system above. The better of the boxed games included Metal Gear Solid, Donkey Kong Classics (two days in a row!), Joe & Mac, Burgertime, and Ikari Warriors
NES Dragon Warrior Nintendo Power Extras - I'm not sure of the scarcity or value of this, nor will I need to since this went right into my personal collection, but apparentlyl Nintendo Power offered some extra stuff with Dragon Warrior. There's a little letter explaining what you got, which included an Explorer's Handbook (a nice thick booklet with maps), an Adventure Guide (a laminated card with info on each character level), and two full-sized posters which also include various game information.

WEIRD day. A Saturday, usually the busiest day of the week, but it was pretty quiet today. Why? Because a fucking hurricane ripped through the area and access to the store was blocked off from the east side. Somehow the day didn't end up too bad sales-wise. And halfway through, I set up Rock Band and hung out with Raj, Maryah and Frankie "playing"... just the thing most people think game store people do but which in fact so rarely happens. It happens once every hurricane or so.
So trade-ins were pretty sparse, yet we did score:
NES Action Set (complete) - This was a completely immaculate set, including the original box and documentation. When the night was over I couldn't find it though, I think my peeps put things away a little too efficiently sometimes. But you may see this in the store tomorrow.
Genesis System Altered Beast Launch Set (complete) - I believe this is the first time that this particular set has ever been traded in. I may use the box as our display case "filler". This is the same one I have at home. The one I bought when the system first launched. Way cool though not particularly rare or valuable - at least for now!

Very nice. I always thought this was a great set. And the box art was bad ass. I have this same set, it's a shame the styrofoam packing in mine is abit chipped up. Probably just from age though.

A few items from the last two days:
PS2 Final Fantasy X International Version (complete) - I'd not heard of this before, it's NTSC-J but has options for both subtitles and audio in English or Japanese and also contains some extra gameplay elements not found in the original version. There's also a 20 minute video bridging the timeline between FFX and FFX-2. Went right to my collection.
PS2 Growlanser (complete) - This is the second one, a boxed set. Not very old but already pretty scarce.
PS2 Gitaroo Man (complete) - Not traded in here too often.
PS2 Firefighter (loose) - We've still got a complete one in the case, this time it's just a loose disc.

A couple of things off the top of my head from earlier today (it's a bit late, so I'm probably missing something).
PS3 Initial D (complete) - Sweet import! The best thing about selling imported games is that my customers often trade those games back in to the store. I've been wanting to try this one but wasn't going to open a sealed copy.
SNES Starfox (complete) - Not a big deal but for some reason this game complete in its box was really nice to see.
SNES Super Mario Kart (complete) - See above, but with a slightly higher price tag.
Game Boy Dragon Warrior III (loose) - Cool because this is one of those games that I've had the box and manual FOREVER and patiently waited for the cartridge to pass through. Check one more orphan off the list, this baby's complete.
Saturn Mr. Bones (complete) - A lot of a dozen or so complete Saturn games was nice, but most of them were pretty common. This was the best or most uncommon game in that lot.
SNES Robotrek (loose) - A lot of a dozen or so loose SNES games ... This was the best or most uncommon game in that lot. Oh yeah, one other one, Ranma 1/2 was in there too. That game was added to the "store copy" box, for use in future NAVA and other store gatherings 'round the SNES in future.

From yesterday:
Atari 2600 System (complete) - Boxed and complete and quite frankly the most "new looking" 2600 I've ever seen. It looks like it was opened and then sealed back up for 30 years.
XBox 360 Too Human (complete) - First time it's been traded in.
XBox 360 Facebreaker (complete) - First time it's been traded in.
PS1 Jersey Devil (complete) - Haven't seen this one in awhile.
PS1 Clock Tower (complete) - Nice. Already sold this morning.
PS1 Super Puzzle Fighter II (complete) - Also nice. Won't be here for long.
NES Game Lot (loose) - You see this one a lot but whenever I get a nice pile of NES games it makes me happy. This lot included most of the staples: all three Super Mario Bros, Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Contra, etc.

Is Clock Tower rare?
From what I've seen, it's not ridiculously rare, but not too terribly common either. Kind of reminds me of Silent Hill & FFVII for the PSX in the sense that the demand is high for these particular games, and as such, the secondary market value has gone up dramatically over the past couple of years.

Too Human is an ok beat em up...
It's more of a hack n' slash lootfest similar to Diablo, with the action of God of War thrown in for good measure. It's a decent rpg but they definitely got a number of key things wrong when making it.

A few things from today:
Saturn Rayxanber II (import) - Complete, and presumably traded in a few days ago, just wasn't reported to me at the time.
PS1 Silent Hill (complete) - Still in demand.
360 Rock Band 2 (complete) - JUST released and already traded in! Came from a GameStop employee who claims to have gotten this for free. It was opened.
SNES Breath of Fire 2 (loose)
Oh, and yesterday.
PS1 Final Fantasy VII (complete) - Black label, mint!
PS2 Lego Racers 2 (complete) - Listing it because it's the first time I've seen it at the store. We get a LOT of PS2 trade-ins so when a game shows up for the first time in 3 years it's uncommon, even if you didn't know it. I promise.

Today was a day not so much about quality as it was of quantity. Though the quantity was of preffy good quality, so maybe we got a little of both worlds. Maybe not.
N64 Game Lot (loose) - Two dozen or so of loose N64 games. Of these, only five were "non-premium". The rest included Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 64 (3 of 'em), Mario Party 2 (2 of 'em), Pokemon Stadium 2, Goemon, and a few more.
GBA SP Systems (complete) - Complete in box, TWO Game Boy Advance SP systems. One blue, one silver.
Atari 2600 Systems (loose) - THREE Atari 2600 systems were taken in today. Mint condition six-switch woodgrain goodness. Can never get enough of these, they're slow but steady sellers in this store.
Sega Genesis System (complete) - Complete boxed system in "collector" quality condition. This one had both Sonic and Sonic 2 packed in, a variant I have not seen before.

Yesterday:
Sega Master System Castle of Illusion (complete) - One of the ten toughest for the Master System, also one of the ten best in my humble opinion.
Sega Saturn System (loose) - Only notable because it's the only one we have in the store at the moment. There's been quite a shortage on Saturns lately.
Today:
Sega Saturn System (loose) - Funny how that goes. None on 2 months, then 2 in 2 days.
Saturn Power Drift (complete) - Import, a pretty good find!
PS2 Treasure Box (complete) - Import, this is the Sega Ages release of Gunstar Heroes/Dynamite Headdy/Alien Soldier pack that us suckers in the US weren't treated to.
PS3/XBox 360 Lot (new) - Weird, and we always think possibly stolen when factory sealed current-gen goods come our way. One customer with one copy of Star Wars Force Unleashed for 360 and one for PS3, also Mercenaries 2 for both, NHL 09 for both, and TNA Impact for PS3.

So I may need to catch up a bit later. We took in a lot of stuff Saturday (NAVA).
Today, just two worth noting:
ColecoVision system (loose) - A little dirty but loaded our games on the first shot. ColecoVisions go pretty fast around here.

Daily. But as PapaStu said, nothing particularly interesting or rare. I mean, if someone came in with Electroplankton I'd mention it. But I get a lot of good DS games that you can find just about anywhere... not worth mentioning in this thread meant for the interesting or unusual.
Speaking of which, yesterday we had traded in:
Game Boy / Game Boy Color Multi-Carts (loose) - Among a whole boxload of loose Game Boy, Color and Advance carts, many of which were imports, were four very cool multi-carts. Two of them for Game Boy and two for Game Boy Color. The 126-in-1 (!) on one GBC cart actually had about a dozen games with variations on each counting as a game itself. We've seen this before in Famicom and NES multi-carts as well. Still, the lot itself is worth a mention.

Yesterday:
NES Wizards & Warriors (complete) - Rare? No. Particularly unique? No. But beautiful, and in "collector quality" condition with the enclosed map in superb shape as well.
Star Blazers, Season I and Season II (complete) - Each is a six-DVD set. I watched these when I was in high school, I'd catch them while getting ready for school in the morning. Love this series. Never got to see all of season II though, which is why that particular set is coming home with me, at least temporarily.
Today:
Wii Samba de Amigo (complete) - I'm getting a "frustrated" vibe from owners of this game, which is really a shame. First time traded in.
XBox 360 Infinite Undiscovery (complete) - First time traded in. One of those games I really want to play but wonder when I'll ever actually get to it.

PlayStation 1 RPG lot, included:
PS1 Persona 2 (complete)
PS1 Tales of Destiny 2 (complete) - Crazy that we already had one of these in the store, the game is pretty scarce.
PS1 Lunar (both of them) - Jewel case, discs and manual but no "extras".
PS1 Legend of Mana (complete)
XBox 360 Rock Band Bundle (complete) - I'm getting the impression that GameStop isn't taking these back. We've got three used sets in the store right now.
XBox 360 Elite System (complete) - Complete in the box. Hasn't been as sought after lately as it was in the early going but our customers are elite, so having systems that are elite just seems *right*

God I loved Star Blazers. One of the few anime translations worth watching.
I actually watched the entire first season today. First time viewing the series since it originally aired here on channel 11 back in 1982. Well, maybe "watched it" isn't completely accurate. "Had it on in the background" is more like it, but I was paying attention through most of it. A real throwback... the show was so intelligent for its time and yet so simple. Animation was horrible in terms of frame rate but terrific in terms of style, again "for its time". That second season will have to wait a bit but I'll have another marathon day in a week or two to watch that, REALLY watch that.
Let's see. Today:
PS1 Lunar Silver Star Story (complete) - The second in a few days but this one is REALLY complete, with all the extras and the outer box.
PS1 Castlevania Symphony of the Night (complete) - We have a few of these in the store at the moment. Like Final Fantasy VII, happy to stockpile them because there's always someone looking for it.
PS1 Wild Arms and Wild Arms 2 (complete) - Who is trading in all of these PS1 games? Random customers but randomly welcome.
Dreamcast Plasma Sword (complete) - Any Star Gladiator fans out there? This game isn't particularly rare or particularly good, it just LOOKS really cool and always sells fast.

I've got a bit of catching up to do as I've been out of town for most of the past five days.
Thursday:
SNES Lot (loose) - Good loose stuff included Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2, Turtles Tournament, Super Mario Land, Mega Man X, Super Adventure Islande, and Super Mario All-Stars. Nothing rare, just good.
NES Lot (loose) - From the same customer. Included Tyson's Punch-Out, Donkey Kong Classics, Super Mario Bros. 3 and 2 more NES systems.
Friday & Saturday:
Nintendo DS Lite, Navy (loose) - An uncommon, import-only color.
Nintendo DS Lot (complete) - Great selection of games including Oendan (import), Mystery Case Files, Mazes of Fate 2, Hoshigami Mix, and Etrian Odyssey 2.
Genesis ToeJam & Earl (complete)
Sunday & Monday:
Dreamcast Lot (complete) - Included Street Fighter 3rd Strike, King of Fighters, King of Fighters 2000, Street Fighter Alpha, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, and Grandia 2.
PlayStation Super Puzzle Fighter (complete)
PS2 Import Lot (complete) - Included Ico, Arcana Hearts, Guilty Gear XX Reloaded, and King of Fighters Orochi Collection.
PS2 Persona 3 (sealed) - Traded in brand new *shrug*
Nintendo 64 Lot (loose) - Big pile of games, the cream of the crop being Mario Party 1, 2 and 3, GoldenEye, and 2 Mario Kart 64's.
Tuesday:
PlayStation Silent Hill (complete) - Black label edition.
Today:
Nintendo Wii System (complete) - Complete in the box. We've presently got two of these in the store.
NES Famiclone (complete) - I forget the name of it, but it has PlayStation-style controllers, guns, a dance mat (?), two paddles (not the Atari-style... these are PING PONG paddles), four cartridges, and the system supports Famicom cartridges as well. One of the better clone packages I've seen.

I don't know why, but for some reason when I read these trade-ins, I find myself wanting to know whether the trader took cash or credit. Again, I can't really say why, but if you (digitalpress) think it might be interesting to track here and it isn't too tough to do, I think that'd be cool.
It's just impossible. I'm not always there and I'm stretching my guys enough just asking them to remember (or maybe tougher, write down) anything "interesting". I'm not sure why this is interesting either, which factors into this. For the record, 2 out of 3 customers take cash. Not sure what the ratio of notable trade-ins are, however. Sorry.

I can do it Friday, but you may need to remind me (PM ME)!

You know when I was growing up that came on at 7.00 am it was awesome. we loved it it was so different. Years ago when ebay was open I purchased the complete seriers on vhs the transfer wasn't great either LOL I am not sure how many seasons there were. I am going to have to transfer them to DVD.
I love them old series. I was even able to snag the boris karloff thriller complete set. You just don't see them oldies but goodies everyday.

Not a whole lot today.
XBox Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (complete) - Needs resurfacing but is in otherwise good condition. Any day we get a MvC2 it's a good trade-in day.
Wii Guitar Hero 3 (complete) - The whole bundle. The Wii version of this blockbuster seems to be the most unpopular. We've sold the least and taken in quite a few.

If you mean this thread , I certainly find it interesting and I am glad to see it updated frequently, once again. I think it is because the physical store is sort of the heart of Digital Press as a whole, right? I don't know if I'll actually ever get all the way to New Jersey to check it out, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading about the daily happenings. I also like looking at all the photo updates. It is just good to know that a store like yours actually exists. I have certainly seen nothing that comes close out here in CA. So even though, in a sense, if a copy of Lunar is traded in over there it really has no direct relevance to my situation, it is just endearing to know quality games like that still travel through a brick-and-mortar retail establishment where a collector could come across something special.

That definitely ISN'T what I meant. I wouldn't have started and maintained the thread if I didn't think it would be interesting. I'm pretty sure what I was referring to was someone requesting if I could include if the customer took cash or store credit on the trade-in. Or something like that.

Another +1 for Star Blazers! Man that was some good stuff, I remember fighting with my sister over who get's to watch what when we got home from school in the 70's.
Gonna' have to look into getting the whole series myself.

I believe today shall mark the official kick-off of "holiday gaming season". That season where everyone brings trade-ins aplenty for credit to buy one or more of the new hot titles. Quite a trend, today. Still, with the piles of stuff we got, only a few worth mentioning. Note that there were lots of Mario and popular titles but of the somewhat different stuff...
PS2 Disgaea 2 (complete) - Sure, no big deal really, but it hasn't passed through here all that much. Any RPG in our shop is a good RPG.
PS1 Parasite Eve (complete)
PS1 Resident Evil 3 (complete ) - These were two of a dozen or so PS1 games from the same customer.
TurboGrafx-16 Lot (various) - A system with TurboTap, two controllers, and about 15 games, the highlights of which were Blazing Lazers, both Legendary Axe games, Bonk's Adventure, and Impossamole. Oddly, we got TWO TurboGrafx-16 systems traded in today, surely a first.

Nice! Did any of those games come with original carton box?

No. They all came with jewel cases and manuals, some were missing the Hucard sleeve.
Two items of note on this Sunday, which marks a turnaround of sorts. September in general was pretty dismal. Let the record show that the month was marred by horrific stock market plunges and validated in early October with retail sales reporting lower than expected. I *did* feel that. October has been pretty good though, and this weekend hearkens back to the June/July weekends where there was plenty of business going in and out.
Nintendo DS, Navy Import (complete) - This is the second time we had the Japanese navy blue DS traded in in a single week! This one is even better though, it's complete with the box and documentation and all that. Very nice.
PSP God of War System (complete) - Complete and more - the guy had a 4GB memory card which is ALSO red! Pretty cool.

Trade-ins have been light the past few days but Friday and Saturday turned up some pretty interesting stuff.
SNES PTO II (complete) - An uncommon game complete in box.
SNES Wizardry V (complete) - See above.
NES Power Pad (complete) - I've never actually seen this in a box before. This one came home with me.
NES Power Set (complete) - The complete in box NES set with the power pad. One of the more uncommon NES boxed system sets.
N64 Pikachu System (complete) - Nice, complete in box.
Virtual Boy System (loose) - Hopefully working, we didn't get to test it in the middle of a crazy NAVA Saturday... but I know where the previous owner lives.
XBox 360 Dead Space (complete) - First time traded in, the game's just a week old.
Coleco Tabletop Pac-Man (loose) - Needs a bit of cleaning but otherwise in perfect working order.
Nintendo DS Electroplankton (complete) - One of the few "rare" DS games, I haven't seen one in the store in well over a year.

Hey Joe
yes you know where I live. I played that VB for about 2 hours - that was all my eyes could take. Yes it does work, but if there is any problems with anything I traded in or my brother - just let me know.
The store was crazy last night. It was a cool scene and I am glad I stopped over.
My brother thanks you again!
For those keeping score we both took credit.

Wow, either Dead Space is not all its cracked up to be, or it is another situation of hardcore gamers plowing through games super fast.
I am anticipating this game, so I am hoping that it was a hardcore gamer

Impossamole while not super expensive, is one of the more difficult Turbo games to come across. Besides the complete turbo collection earlier this year, have you had any other copies come in?

It's a great game, but it's linear and not very long. I finished it in about 10:30 or so. This is why I love Gamefly. It lets me play all the new games I want without having to shell out $60 for something I know I won't play again after I finish it.
