I made some rounds today and scored some decent finds...

Target
PS2 16MB Memory Card - $7.87

GameStop
Guitar Hero II (360, Sealed) - $9.99

Blockbuster
Eternal Sonata (360) - $14.99
Perfect Dark Zero - $4.99
Rouge Galaxy - $6.99 <- I felt this was a great deal for this game.

I may run a few more places later and I'll update if I get any other good finds, I also got 2 rechargeable Duracells AAs with the charger for $6.48 at Target, not a bad find if you use a lot of AA batteries like I do.

Picked up a few games this weekend:
Battlezone (PSP) new $10
War Jets (PS2) new $2.50
Eggstreme Mania (PS2) new $2.50 (I know... but it was new and cheap)
And for the NES a 76 in 1 pirate cart $2.99 (label says Megacom and the back of the case is stamped Supervision) I tried to snap a pic but it keeps coming out blurry. I thought it might have been a Caltron at first but I'm still happy as I've never actually seen one of these before.

Was at Walmart tonight and they had a bunch of $10 DS games. Mostly shovelware titles but I picked up:

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (DS)

Which is a game I had wanted but I hadn't wanted to pay anywhere near retail for it.

Ah, good day today...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3650/3442698752_fee9757428_b.jpg

First find was last night after midnight. Since I'm waiting for my Sega CD to arrive (should ship today), I decided to price Lunar 1. A seller on Amazon had a complete copy in good condition for $30, +$4 shipping. The seller was marked as "Just Launched," so I'm taking a risk, but as long as it's complete and working I'll be happy.

I've been doing my thrift runs every other Monday, but I had to work yesterday. Today it's been raining all day, but I like rain, so the run was rather enjoyable.

First off, I hit Salvation Army:
Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator - $2
-I used to play this one with my dad, but then he let somebody borrow our copy, and never saw it again.
Freelancer - $2
-Generic case... does this one need a key? I've been wanting to play it forever...
Music: Asia - Astra, Alien Ant Farm - ANThology, Genesis - Invisible Touch - $0.49/each

I finally gave GoodWill another chance:
The Dig - $2.06
-Not pictured, forgot it in the car. Disc is in better condition than my copy, has the manual and jewel case. I lost my case a long time ago, so now I have it CIB again. One of my favorite adventure games...
Saw a PSX, SCPH9001, $15, and a GCN WaveBird minus the receiver, $4, but nothing else. That place still smells.

Then the library bookstore...
Box of comics - $16
-Says $0.25/each on the box, and there's 165 of them in there. I asked the guy if he could cut me a deal if I bought the whole box, and he called whoever has authority over that sort of thing, ended up $0.10/each (hooray for Golden Age pricing). It's 75% manga, including Nadesico, Gundam, Inu-Yasha, Eternity Comic's adaption of Captain Harlock, and more of that sort of thing. This finally got me to stop by the comic shop for more bags and boards, which are now averaging out to cost MORE than I spend on the comics themselves... o_O
Cromartie High vol 1 - $2
Passed up the rack of shojo stuff. Also passed up the stacks of Ah My Goddess, never much cared for magical girl/harem manga.

Last stop was my church's thrift:
Sega CD - $1/each
-A/X-101 (Complete)
-Microcosm (Complete)
-Kriss Kross (Disc + Manual; I had to... if only for a laugh)
-Marky Mark (Disc in Vanilla Ice jewel case; same reason)
-Joe Montana's NFL Football (Disc only; I might go for a complete Sega CD collection, so I'll take what I can find)

Golden Axe (SMS) - $3
-Complete

Information Society - Peace and Love Inc. - $2
-This one has the modem noise track, yay secret message!

Want. :(

I think insoc.org, the old official Information Society site has that in downloadable form. Interestingly enough, Kurt Harland ended up working on sound design for video game companies in the bay area after Insoc. He last worked at Crystal Dynamics/Eidos, but I don't know what he's up to now.

It doesn't. I'm not paying retail for it either. :p I have it on MP3, but I still want all those albums I don't have yet.

You should visit their site, they released remastered versions of their first two albums along with a CD filled with rarities from their early days.

Hit several stores, all I found was a Sega Base Converter for the Genesis for $1.98 loose.

There's a store chain up in Oklahoma City called GameXchange, and a day after visiting OKC I came across a GameXchange in Irving, TX. I managed to hit it when it was open, and it turns out it's the third in Texas, with another location in Lewisville. They had no pre-NES stuff at the moment, which is a shame. But they've got loads of NES carts. And good prices on Xbox games, I thought. I need to hit their Lewisville location sometime soon.

How's their recent material? I believe they recently released a new album...

I really like this particular album. The first was good, but this is better. I've also got Hack, but it doesn't really hit me the same way.

Double Dragon NES Cart Only- $1

South Park DVD: 2.00
Starsky and Hutch Gamecube- 1.00

That's a good series....I remember watching the anime version years ago...

Looking through the box, I have issues 2-6. The stuff by Eternity isn't actual manga localization, rather, original American comics based on the source material. They did Robotech this way, which proceeded into The Sentinels and all that. I've been wanting to check out the original Harlock anime for a while now, and reading these will probably determine if I start looking for it or not.

There's 26 total issues of Nadesico in the box, but two are #4, one of which is missing the cover. I've never understood why I find comics this way, you'd think that whoever bought them would have tracked down that missing issue #9... The two Gundam series in the box are 4 and 5 issues each, and both are missing the last issue. o_O

Synthesizer. Good music, but most of it is Kurt-less - the last track features vocals by him, though. I liked it a lot.

I actually like all their albums (except for Don't Be Afraid, which isn't bad but it's NOT Insoc).

Yesterday:

Meat Beat Manifesto -- Armed Audio Warfare (1990, CD) - $1
Rick Astley -- Free (CD, with bonus Astley mullet action!) - $1

Today:

Hooooooooooo boy. The city's been hit with a wind storm, so not a lot of buyers went to the flea market. But the sellers...

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2009-04-15-games1.jpg
All from one guy. The guy had a ton of crappy music (Sugar Ray, those morons who sung that Butterfly, sugah, baby song... yech) and at the bottom there was this box with PC games. Some Command & Conquer, disc only Neverwinter Nights... What's this? XCom? Diablo? HO SHI PLANETARY PACK! He also had the Fallout 1+2 set on a table. The outer cardboard was torn, though. :(

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2009-04-15-games2.jpg
Guardian Heroes sounded familiar so I picked up the case and saw the back cover. The disc has a few scratches but should play fine -- it's for trade if anyone wants it. No manual... and I can't play it, I still don't have a working US Saturn.

Phantasmagoria Stagefright and the 72-60 pin adaptor were pretty cheap - $1 for both! The guy (an American, the only one who sets up shop at this flea market) said $15 at first, which nearly gave me a heart attack, but then he said "Just kidding! $1."

"Each?" "For both, man! Sorry, I just wanted to have a little fun, that's all."

I paid and left. He's a weird one but he's sold me some cheap stuff before, so. :P The adaptor is brand new. The pins are completely unused. I already have a Honeybee 60-72 adaptor and a generic 72-60 one, I'm not sure what to do with this one.

Oh I will, I will. I've only got one other song by them in the From The Masses Depeche Mode tribute album. If I like what I hear, I tend to seek out albums which contain artists I like. (Which is why I also picked up that Rick Astley album.)

Fallout is worth money? Goddamn, I've seen copies around at thrifts. Time to go back.

Fallout... yes and no. The bundle I got is worth $15-25 bucks. Each game costs $8 on GOG.com, and they include a ton of bonuses (music, PDF manuals, icons, and such) which is a much better value than just having a disc only game. The soundtrack alone is quite a treat for me. I figure, I sell the games for $25, get $20 after fees, buy the games on GOG.com, get two bucks back. :) There's an European budget release (White Label) which contains Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics. Not a BAD thing, but it's basically a couple of discs in a DVD case. No manuals.

The really valuable item there is Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Planetary Pack. It bundles Alpha Centauri with the expansion pack (which is already rare to begin with). Disc only copies are worth around $40-$60 on a good day. CIB copies (which include a heavy printed manual, maps, and so on) can go for over $100.

Subsequent trips to the same Goodwills in too close of a timespan have meant less to pick from. I was determined to not walk away empty handed from both of the Goodwills I visited, so....

Goodwill #1:

Namco Museum Volume 3 for PSX, mint and complete - 80 cents
Road Rash 3D for PSX - bootleg silver disc by "players" - 80 cents
Marvel Superheroes for PSX - bootleg silver disc by "players" - 80 cents
The Smelly Mystery for PC (kids game that was later licensed by Humongous Entertainment) - 80 cents
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral, (mint condition to replace my roughed up copy from when it was released) - 80 cents
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine (same as above) - 80 cents
Bushido Blade 2 case with a OPM demo disc in it - 80 cents
Jet Moto disc in a 2Extreme case with no manual - 80 cents

Goodwill #2:

Bart Simpson telephone from 1990, complete in mint packaging. Scary looking too; his eyes blink red when the phone rings. $3.99

Gamestop #1:

I needed a GCN controller, so out of desperation I went and (over)paid $15 at Gamestop for one. I also picked up Sneak King for 99 cents (the only original Xbox compatible title left at the location), and Star Fox Adventures in mint condition for Gamecube for $4.99.

GameStop #2:

Then I found out about the 25% off sale on Xbox titles, and used my edge card to get the following for just under $40:

Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance
Tron 2.0 Killer App
Obscure
Stake: Fortune Fighters
Road Kill
Star Trek: Shattered Universe
Judge Dredd
Alien Vs. Predator (case and manual for free -- they had no more discs)

Anyway to make a search on there, expect for it listing all known ps2 games that are CD-ROM from every known country, make it ntsc, or pal only. I would love to know a full NTSC list of CD-ROM games, and not have to shift through pal, japan, etc, and games that didn't even come out here. Its helpful but not that helpful as you still gotta do some leg work to find out if a game in your region was a cd-rom game or not.... :(

Atari 2600 finds come every couple of years for me (I'm not counting eBay here, I very rarely go there anymore). I went to a weird thrift store when I was in South Jersey yesterday. They had 2 bins full of loose Atari games, and I saw Star Fox on top of one of the bins. I didn't have my list with me, but there was a 1 in 3 chance that I was buying the correct one. It was! Now I have the complete collection of Mythicon "games." Now to find the boxes and docs...

Yeah, believe me, I know how lucky that was. If you look, the thing was only up for like 17 minutes before I accidentally stumbled on it. And that includes two or three minutes of me staring at the thing wondering what it was and if it was a worthwhile purchase. I did a quick Google search before I put two and two together and realized it was a Japanese X'Eye. But what's a Wondermega generally worth? I can't really find anything concrete other than "quite a bit." Granted, I'm not currently planning to sell it though I'm not sure what use I'll get out of a console that can't play U.S. games.

Today I picked up a blue Nintendo DS (first generation model) with headphones for $34.99 in a Salvation Army. They had a silver model too, but the hinge was broken, so I couldn't pick it up for someone else who wanted it.

In thrifts in Denton, TX, I bought:

Einhander, Bio Freaks, Tenchu-Stealth Assassins, and Red Asphalt for the PS1, amazingly pristine, $2.42 each.
Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels for the Sega Saturn, $4.94.
Pinball for the Philips CD-i in the long plastic case with the cardboard sleeve, 99¢.

There was a game store off the interstate that I'd seen a couple times driving past going somewhere, but I never could stop. Today, I went there. And turned out they're out of business. Dang. Then I went to the only other location of GameXchange in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and they didn't have much in the way of classic games (they've only been around for a couple of months). On the way home I hit another thrift, where they had an NBA Jam Tournament Edition, NFL Blitz '99, and Soul Edge arcade cabs for sale the last time I visited. Nobody's bought them, not surprising how much they're charging for them and considering that Blitz is the only one that looks okay, the other two have bad monitors.

I'm not sure what use I'll get out of a console that can't play U.S. games.

If you can rip your US CD games to images, there's tools to change the region and burn a new disc.

But what's a Wondermega generally worth? I can't really find anything concrete other than "quite a bit."

On the low end you could still make $100-150. On the high end we'll talking about $250-400. Also, my US X-Eye plays the majority of Japanese import games I put in it. You should try with your US games once your Wondermega arrives. You might be pleasantly surprised. But I can't help you with the cd part though.

Hooray for the start of garage sale season here in Chicagoland. Here's what I got today:

-PS2 with Rebel Raiders and Brave Fencer Musashi - $15. It looks like this one doesn't read CD's, just DVD's so I'll have to tinker with it some. I already have a PS2 so this one will be for sale or trade once I get it sorted out.

At my local Half Price Books:

-Stubbs the Zombie (Xbox - Sealed) - $4.95. I really want to play this one, but it looks like I can sell it for a nice chunk of change on ebay. I may sell this sealed one and buy an open copy.

-Broken Sword (Xbox) - $2

-Turning Point - Fall of Liberty (PC) - $1

-Call of Cthulhu (PC) - $1

-Playstation 1 Link Cable with box - $2.95

My $34 Amazon Lunar 1 came today, and I'm still waiting for my Sega CD to arrive. It's in alright condition. Case has one crack, manual has a folded corner, but it's good enough to meet my expectations. The disc is pretty good.

Last night at Play N Trade, I picked up two NES games from the bargain bin. Codename Viper and Bucky O'Hare, $3 each.

You can easily sell a broken PS2 for $30 + shipping on ebay, I'd recommend listing it there.

Today I left late for garage sales (11, my mom had to do stuff in the morning and came home late) and only got two things. There wasn't that many garage sales, even though this time of year there are tons of garage sales. It seemed that at every garage sale I went to they said that they already sold their games, and only saw one game today, and that was Wheel of Fortune for N64 for 5 bucks. Well, here is what I found:

Chris Rock Bigger and Blacker DVD- 2 bucks
"Determination" framed Inspirational Poster- Free (Favorite find of the month)

Everything except Ghosts & Goblins was picked up at Gamestop for about $35 (been wanting Chessmaster for quite awhile). Ghosts & Goblins was $20 at Walmart but it's one I've been wanting to pickup and wasn't sure if it was going to be around much longer (PSP games don't seem to be stocked for very long around here).

Blurry pic, but as you can see, there's a Commodore 64, a 1541 drive, a bunch of peripherals, and manuals, along with a big box full of games. Behind that is yet ANOTHER Commodore 64, this time boxed. There is only one power adapter, and the drive is missing the cable to hook it up to the C64. Lots of unlabeled games, but I found Ghostbusters, so it's good. There's also Cybermorph for the Jaguar. Total price? Drumroll please.....

Fifty dollars! :D:D:D

Possibly my find of the year, just need an AV cable and 1541 connector and I am set.

Hit up some yard sales this morning, nothing but over priced trash. Things did get better at work though where I picked up the following:

Spice controller (Gamecube)
Mario Party 7 (Gamecube unopened)

Then after work I hit up a second Blockbuster in hopes of finding Dark Sector or GH III for the 360. Again, they did not have GH III in stock, and the Dark Sector they had was in a BB case. I did find this though for $10:

Professor Layton (DS unopened)

Thanks for the tip, but I was able to get the PS2 working like new after an hour or so in my workshop. I'm almost tempted to keep it and sell my current one - I can't believe how much quieter the newer 50000 series is than my older 39000 series.

I should add I picked up a dirty N64, 6 or 7 games, and a transfer pak for $3 at a garage sale today. When I got home and looked through the games (the price was so low I didn't even look to see what was in the bag), there was a decent condition Starcraft 64 and NFL Blitz Special Edition (an R5) in there...score!

Stopped by a thrift today. They had a few Dreamcast games, but most were junk.

-Dead or Alive 2 (complete) I've been looking for this one! $1.98
-Fighting Force 2 (complete) I got this mixed-up with a different game. Wish I hadn't bought it now.... $1.98

They also had a sealed Genji demo for the PS2. It was $1.98 as well.
After this, I picked up Parappa and Beavis & Butthead Vol.3 for the PSP from Best Buy. Both were on sale for a juicy $4.99! :D

So yesterday, on the way home from a gig I stopped by my (sorta) local Value Village. I found the following games all behind the display case. They were all labeled with prices and are as follows:

Defender 2- 2.90
Gyruss- 1.90
Snake Rattle N' Roll- 1.90
1943- 2.10
TMNT III- 1.90
Millipede- 2.10
SMB 3 (CIB)- $.80

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3334/3454842829_d03b8a8d11_o.jpg

This brings up a question. As I stop by, this place once or twice a week I usually am familiar with their inventory. These games were probably taken in and priced at the same time as they were all stacked neatly together. I also gather that they were price by the same person, as the handwriting looks similar. So my question is, why the different prices? Why is there a dollar difference between Gyruss and Defender 2? This has always struck me as odd.

I also found that SNES power supply for $1.51, which completes one of the loose SNESs I had. And although I don't usually buy doubles of games I have, a CIB SMB 3 was hard to resist. I also had forgot that I already had a copy of 1943, instead of 1942- so that makes 2.
