My Best Buy haul today...

Dark Sector was from Target ($9.98). Everything else was $9.99 at BB. They didn't have Red Alert 3 but they had plenty of everything else. I just picked up what I thought I would actually play (or didn't already own).

Picked up 4 games at Best Buy on Thursday to bring back today and price match (I was working until 4 PM, good thing I picked them up cause almost everything was gone today)

Infinite Undiscovery
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
Silent Hill Homecoming
Jericho

Also picked up 2 games today when I went in to price match

Quantum of Solace: Collectors Edition
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

Plus there was a $20 off coupon floating around for IF, which the cashier was able to just give me the game for free. $50 for 6 games, not bad :)

Went to a thrift store and found:
Kinetic (PS2 Eyetoy Game)- 1.98
Case and Manual for DDR Supernova (PS2)- Free

I grabbed both of these games and they originally didn't have price tags. I asked the lady working there how much, and she said 1.98 (They are usually more, thank god for unpriced games). When I opened up DDR, I found it was empty and the girl working there looked at it and threw it out. I nearly jumped to grab it, and said that I will still take the case and manual, in case I find a disc only copy. She took it back out and gave it to me, and I was happy that I saved a case and manual from certain death.

BTW, I already own Kinetic, and if anybody is interested in buying it, just PM me.

From Gamestop-

Wario World (GC)-$9.99-complete

From Toys R Us-

A Nintendo DSi magnet, from a Nintendo rep doing a Rhythm Heaven demo-free

From Target-Nintendo DS Car Adapter-$2.48-NEW

There were a TON of these adapters, I guess they were clearing them out. This was about 2 weeks ago, I'm going back to see if they have any more sometime this week.

See, I knew that would happen. I had to work on Saturday, anyway.

Up at Texas Motor Speedway far north of Fort Worth, once a month they have their Trade Days USA event, which is supposed to be a big flea market/boot sale/farmer's market. I was bored today, not having too much cash, but I wanted to get out of the house, so I went. I drove all the freakin' way up there, and it seems there's nothing for sale out there. A few cars and some tents, looked like some 4-wheelers and scooters, just general junk I don't care about. Parking was $5, and I only had $12 on me, so I couldn't justify parking and checking it out since it kinda looked dead there. What a disappointment. They've only started doing the Trade Days for less than a year, so I hope they've established themselves a little more by the time I get the urge to drive all the way there again.

Going home I went to the Movie Trading Company in Hurst to look for Sega CDs and 32X games. And it looks like they've gotten rid of nearly all of them. So I go to the one in Irving. They don't have any at all. Hit the Console Game Xchange in Irving Mall, nothing interesting. I want to find some games for my Genesis/Sega CD/32X monstrosity, and then I remember that the location off Preston in Dallas had Fahrenheit for the 32X. I drive all the way up there, and they've gotten rid of most of their Sega games. I stop at the CGX store in Valley View Mall, and pick up Corpse Killer for $6.95 (although it might just be the regular Sega CD version instead of the 32X CD one I wanted to buy, I have to try it out). I then go to the main Movie Trading Company headquarters building off Greenville avenue in Dallas. A decent amount of Genesis games, but virtually no 32X or Sega CD games. On the way home I stop at the location in Duncanville, no 32X or CD games whatsoever. I realized that I had circled almost the entire Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, looking for games that most people consider lame. When I bought Corpse Killer, the guy couldn't figure out where in storage it was since nobody had ever bought a Sega CD or 32X game from him before!

Do you mean the Super Famicom game was 36¢? That's not only a great deal, it's a really odd price. And a WonderSwan for $4? Dammit, that's an incredible deal! Is it the color model or black and white?

Black and white.. it shows some use from previous owner

Well there's a story behind the famicom game. It was the last day of the con and I had no money. We left extremely early because the hotel kicks us out at 11am and my driver was leaving at 12 anyway. So I was walking around the hotel the con was in and I was about to sit on a couch a crossed from a sleeping couple when I noticed a quarter, nickle, and a few pennies. When the marketplace opened I went by the same booth I was hanging around pretty much all the con and everything there was half off because they didn't want to haul any of it back. The game was originally 1$, so it was 0.50$ and I was willing to test my luck (if you see my previous post you can see that I was getting things at a lower price anyway). I took out the change I found earlier and said "I'm offering all the change in my pocket for this game". The clerk laughed cause I did it before and started to walk away. I moved coins around on my hand and said "There's a quarter in there" It was hidden. The clerk smiled obviously amused at my persistance and it was sold for all the change in my hand. I'm not completely sure what I actually had.. It was not more than 0.37$

The WonderSwans where 12$ yesterday, so they where 6 today. My fiance hadn't bought me my christmas present yet so we asked asked about them. Somewhere in there we where saying if we where to get one we could only spend 4$. He seemed cool with it, and figured we might purchase it. As we conversed he added a game he knew was english-friendly (Evolution) so we talked some more... Then he offered the Wrestling game so we bit.

That's the basic story there.. maybe a bit too long, oh well.

So today I went for an EQ2 night at a friend's house, and he had mentioned that I could have his 32X if he could find it. We had fun going through the box of old Genesis stuff, and I gave him a spare NES RF and let him borrow my Model 1 Genesis AC until he gets one for his, leaving him with the necessary hookups for his Model 1. I told him I could definitely use the 32X since my Genesis 2 from ebay oddly came with two ACs, and I had an idea for the video passthrough cable.

He gave me:
32X - Unit only, has the plastic spacer but no metal shielding pieces, which is how he got it and had never used it
Star Wars Arcade (32X) - Cart only
Moto Cross Championship (32X) - Cart only
Mechwarrior 2 (PC) - CD only, and it's a version that I don't have (think I have 5x MW2 now!)

Stuff that he didn't want, for close to free. I brought the Mountain Dew and gave him an NES RF.

Behold, my improvised 32X cable! Yes, it works! No, it's not perfect! Output from the 32X is fine, but anything from the Genesis side of things is BLUE. Click the image for higher resolution.

I'll be fixing it tomorrow, along with my Sega CD, which blew a fuse (the one that's prone to failure). I can't wait to gaze upon a working setup of the Unholy Trio, in its triple-AC glory.

EB visit (first time in years!) did pretty well I think:
bulletwitch, the darkness, ninja blade, sonic ultimate genesis collection, 360 wifi adapter EB games card and mag subscription all for 50 bucks out of pocket :) I had some trades but my god what a deal I feel happy about this

Also picked up a atari jaguar boxed with 2 games today on ebay shipped for a total of 80 bucks. Not sure how good that is but it seems alright.

Went to the Rayhnam Flea Market in Raynham, MA for the first time in about 15 years. Picked up Nobunaga's Ambition CIB (with map too!) for SNES KOEI collection for $20. Not too shabby.

I also saw Bubble Bobble Part II in person for the first time. The guy had two copies and wanted $100...

One vendor had a bunch of loose N64 manuals, but wanted $3 / per for them. No thanks, not when the games are barely worth that much.

I stopped at the shops on my way home from class today, and my Atari got delivered just as I arrived home. Fun day!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3405/3481207558_b25927fe96_b.jpg

$32 Atari lot:
2600 Jr - With AC, RCA cable, and RCA->Coax plug, works great! The clear plastic on the silver strip is STILL THERE! It's pretty clean too, so I'm very happy with it.
ET, Jungle Hunt, Joust, Pole Position, Battlezone - Great condition, labels look good aside from a few plastic-conforming indentations, all silver-label.
Two Joysticks - One has a kinda limp button, but I like using a Genesis pad better. I have some Atari stickers in my UT2004 case, should serve well to rebrand a 3-button pad.

Salvation Army:
GH Final Fantasy VII and VIII - $1.99/each
-Great condition here. FF8 looks unplayed beyond disc one, with only minor marking on disc one. FF7 has very minor marking on all three. Both manuals look untouched. FF8 is marked Square Enix, so it's the recent reprint I suppose. I haven't decided what to do with these yet, my friends will have first pick if I decide to sell though. I may keep them, since my copies have seen a LOT of use over the years.
Echo and the Bunnymen - $0.49

Goodwill - NOTHING, as usual
Saw some PC games, but nothing I really wanted. Mostly strategy. I can't justify impluse buys at $3.06/each.

Library - Cromartie High School vol 3 - $2
-Now I need vol 2...
Also saw a whole box of Robotech comics, from 80s through 90s (spinoffs and continuations), which I offered to take all if they could cut me a deal. The lady wanted to wait a week to see if they sell at $0.50 each, so it looks like I'll be stopping by after exams (darn, they remember me there now :P).
-Also keep seeing Burn Cycle (CDI). Would this be worth paying $3 just to emulate? It's been there for a year or so, and I'm probably the only one who'll ever care enough about it. Is it worth it?

Church Thrift:
Banjo Kazooie - $5
Mischief Makers - $5 - picked up for a friend

Talk about being a dick. Seriously I just quickly added the value of all that stuff and you would of seriously been getting a deal at $275. Hell, I would have had more respect for you if you would have atleast offered him $200 but Christ! But instead you knew the guy was in a bind so you low ball him and he took it. I hope you feel real proud of yourself, especially when you plan on selling some of it on ebay to make a profit. Seriously, I am all about people getting "Deals" but dont find it cool when someone knows they are getting a steal already and decide to low ball someone even more.

I do not feel bad at all, people need to live within their means. He is a grown ass man, he should of known that he couldn't afford all that and keep current with all his bills.

I will try to not let my concious keep me up tonight. If it does, owell I will just play some SSBB on my new Wii.

I think the same but at the same time, the seller could have declined, that's not the buyer's problem.

Great deal, almost believable given the current price of the Wiis on the USA

NayusDante

Given the rate of Wii sales and Japan's recent decline, he may have made a smart move. There are 50+ MILLION Wiis out there, and the supply:demand is going to catch up eventually. If we think that GameCubes are cheap now, what's going to happen when Nintendo releases a new console come 2011 or 2012?

I didnt say it was evil to get a deal, I just think offering 1/2 of his asking price was a dick like move. No one on these forums has not offered less than a sellers asking price but low balling people is not cool. I know what people mean by the fact that the seller accepted but a lot of people these days are hurting for money and maybe he had no choice. With the economy as bad as it is and people losing their jobs maybe he had no choice but to take the cash because it was there and rent was due. Maybe he assumed you were going to pay the full amount and you showed up and offered $140? You never stated what you did. I dont know the exact situation but all I do know is things are tough for a lot of people/families right now. Either way, it may have been a good deal to you but I still dont think its right. As I stated above, I think $275 was already a DEAL but if you would have offered him a reasonable amount, around $200 for it I would have had a little more respect for you. Offering 1/2 of his asking price just seems like you took advantage of the situation. I dont care how anyone else feels about this, I just think it was the wrong thing to do.

This current economic situation is only hurting the the people that don't have the drive to succeed. I have a Bachlor degree, working on a Masters. No one has pulled my leg to do this. I work a full time job, and a aditional partime job. Not because I need to, because I want to be able to thrive and afford all the things I want, now and later in life. Americans were in need of a reality check, here it is; time to grow up. Get off government aid and get an education.

Yes I preyed on his situation, he only has himself to blame for purchasing all that when he did not have the money for his living expenses

oh, ok. I guess i misunderstood you the first time, and if he knew what he was getting then its ok, he could have sold it for much higher if he wanted to, its his problem

This current economic situation is only hurting the the people that don't have the drive to succeed.

Ahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Yeah, right. I'm sure all those people who got laid off from their jobs recently and who spend the whole day looking for a job to pay the bills and support their families AGREE with you.

Dick. Move.

Of course they don't, they should of went and got an education insted of going to work at the mill/plant/factory. They should consider them selves lucky that the minimun wage has been raised so much. I kept a few Illegal immigrants around to do my errands and some work around the house. I only have to pay them in beans and bread.

Judging from your spelling and grammar, you must be part of the mill/plant/factory lot, am I right?

Anyhow, weren't you just "woring" on a sweet Craigslist deal on some rare SNES games?
Why don't you get back to that. Those games should keep you busy. Too busy to post here.

Can we get back to the games we found at thrift shops and flea markets? You know, the thrift shops whose profits go to good causes, and the flea markets where there's people selling things because they enjoy it?

If you want to keep arguing about economics and why people need money, please do it in Off Topic, where it belongs.

I think we're getting caught up too much in the seller's circumstances. Common sense would have told him that he could have sold that lot on Craigs List within a day for $200 or $220, rather than accepting a lowball offer. He probably could have even traded it in to a local used game store and have gotten an amount comparable or higher than what Sourday gave him. If the amount was genuinely for rent, I don't really get how half the amount is going to help the guy.

Once you look past the circumstances of the seller, I think we're all guilty of taking advantage of sellers by not disclosing the genuine value of what we buy. All of us that have bought super rare games from people at garage sales or flea markets for pocket change.... I know someone here bought an Earthbound at a yard sale for 25 cents. If that seller later found out it was worth $100, I bet they would have felt like complete shit. Those of you that pick up $1.99 rare PSX RPGs from thrift stores that actually put the money towards helping people... I bet you're not tossing an extra $20 bill in their donation box when you pick up those games, right?

I mean, has anyone here actually given a seller MORE than what they ask for, for some rare games they're selling, just to "be fair?" Possibly, but I doubt by any kind of really significant amount. At least this guy was aware of the actual value of his stuff, and he elected to sell it at that price anyways.

People, lowballs happen. Is it worth more than that? Without question. The individual took the 145 offered to him for whatever reason. That is out of our control. Would anyone be saying dick move if he hadn't said the seller was moving the stuff for rent money, or that his original asking was 275? Probably not.

What if it was for a bunch of valuable NES/SNES games that he did that for? Is that better?

You all have spoken your piece, leave it be and lets move on to more deals.

Even people who have educations have been laid off from their jobs. Stop being a jackass and go live this "life" you supposedly have.

Honestly, I'd like nothing more than to see you get laid off from your job and then have someone do something like that to you. Also, I want to punch you in the face. Hard.

Apparently the NES games that Value Village has gotten in have been selling well. Cart and game prices had been raised $1-$2 over last week. Still not bad though.

Alien Syndrome CIB $3.90
NES Cleaning Kit CIB $1.90
Trolls On Adventure Island (w/ original cardboard AVE dust jacket) $3.10 (R6!)
Dr. Mario $3.90 with Dust Sleeve... not great but probably would have been pricer elsewhere
Mortal Kombat 3 Guide $1.25

I bought my NES Caltron at a flea for $3... all his games were $4 but he told me that one was cheaper since it was bootleg. Did I feel bad? Did I offer him more? No. It's a find... if he finds out it was worth more later that's HIS problem and he should have done more research.

Congrats on the Wii find... hope it isn't 'hot'.

OT, someone came into the store today and sold me a complete R.O.B. with the spinner, attachments, and 2 gyros. Even had the lower half of the styrofoam from the box. Picked it all up for $20. Passed on his grungy NES that he wanted $20 for... too many sitting in the closet already lol

Some decent finds...

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2009-04-29-1.jpg

One booth had two tubs full of CDs. It had a copy of DOA2 for the Dreamcast, several bootleg PS1 games, rap music, Hindu / Bollywood stuff (?!), Catholic music (?!?!), and some Saturn games.

I picked up the Marky Mark CD (DON'T JUDGE ME), Fallout 2 and the Ecco CD from there. The Metal Gear games were from another booth... and $6 for the pair. I'm selling or trading that Metal Gear, I already have a copy. But that VR missions? SCORE.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2009-04-29-2.jpg

The NHL and Gran Turismo don't include games, the guy that sold me the Metal Gear games gave the cases (and manuals) to me after I asked if he had any other PS1 games. I dug around his booth a bit and stumbled onto a copy of Link's Crossbow Training (disc in sleeve with instructions). I didn't want it (I don't have a Wii), so I gave it to him before I left, telling him I found it hidden in a box and that he could probably sell it for a bit more money. He was speechless but I just said thanks and left. I figured I owed the guy for the free cases and the VR missions.

A while later I went back to the booth where I got the Marky Mark CD and picked up Oblivion (new) for $2 and Blazing Dragons for $1. And I got the new Office:Mac 2004 for $3 (asking price). Not a bad day.

I bought Mario Kart, Yoshi Story, and Mario Party 3. Paid 17.00 total, I thought they were just that carts, we never really spoke about it. I just assumed since they we so cheap that they were.

Now after a few Emails he comes out with a price of 250.00

this is what his mail said.

Anthony,

Let me tell you how much is fair and how I arrived at this number. I believe $250 would be a fair price. The way I found this was I went to amazon.com and found each game in the condition I own it in, disregarded any shipping costs and took an additional 15% off the game.

For example if you follow this link
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00002STXN/ref=sr_1_olp_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1241010076&sr=8-2
you will see The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past listed in very good condition at $17.94 (including shipping). Take off the shipping and you get $13.95 and take off an additional 15% and you get $10.46 which I rounded down to an even $10.00.

Because I can tell you're eager to have these games I could probably meet with you before the weekend is here.

Ray

I added up everything the way he did and came up with 138.00. I would of paid the 150.00, but I'm not now.
