Chrono Trigger is worth $60 alone... Earthbound around $80... $250 is a little high but not crazy.

80 is on the high end for Earthbound. I see it sell for 55-59 all the time on Ebay. Chrono Trigger, 35.00 on Ebay all the time. These games are great, but they are not "worth" as much as people brew up in their heads, like this guy.

A couple of recent deals that I've come across (besides the whole Best Buy thing):

http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/4263/img5113.jpg (http://img50.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img5113.jpg)

Soul Calibur III LE Guide w/Soundtrack CD and guide in mint shape - $5
Unreal Tournament (Dreamcast) - $1.91
Burnout (Xbox) $1
NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 (Xbox) $1
Midnight Club II (Xbox ) $1

All the games are complete, with discs in great shape. Manuals are a little wrinkly, but for $1 I'm not complaining.

So I went out in the heat and the 10,000% humidity and did some thrifting. I picked up Surf Rocket Racers and Sno Cross Championship Racing for the Dreamcast, $1.98 each, and a loose Dreamcast console with one controller and a blue VMU for $7.98. No power cord or RF adapter, but that's easy enough to get. I also bought some little portable game console, one of those cheap LCD screen types that look like a marginally updated Game and Watch type of thing, with two game 'screens', for $3.98. And then I went to the Movie Trading Company and bought Zero Tolerance, Marble Madness, and Shadow of the Beast for the Genesis, $3.99 each. Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 for the 32X, $8.99. Strawberry Shortcake for the Atari 2600, $1.99. And Centipede for the Colecovision, $1.99. All loose, of course. Something else I found there, a 32X cartridge of Shadow Squadron, that the previous owner had sawed off the sides of the cart to try and stuff it into a regular Genesis console. People like that need to be lobotomized.

Here's the heartbreaking thing: I came across a boxed Turbo Grafx-16 in a thrift today, marked $15.99. The box was faded and beaten up. It seemed a little too lightweight, so I opened it up to check it out. The console was there, and the controller, but nothing else. And when I looked at the controller it turns out the plug has been damaged and wouldn't be useable. So, I had to pass it up. It kills me to have to leave something Turbo related in the wild, but in this case, it was probably for the best. But if anyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is looking to pick up a bare Turbo Grafx-16 console and they can supply the AC adapter and controller, you'll find it on the top shelf in the electronics section of the Thrift Town location in Arlington, next to an N64 and some other junk. I searched the place, and they had no games, power supplies, or anything Turbo related other than this console. Maybe someone came in and bought everything except the unit itself.

Only had about an hour and a half to hit sales today. Luckily, there was a neighborhood sale that had a ton of them all concentrated.

First find was the PSOne w/ screen (and MGS d1 inside) for $5 (hard to see, but there are two ac adapters and an official sony car dc adapter). Another guy was just seconds ahead of me and grabbed a bag full of Xbox controllers and hookups for $5, leaving the xbox itself behind marked at $10. That was annoying as I would have bought all of it, but the xbox alone doesn't do me much good. Unfortunately the PSone screen is very dim, almost like there is a backlight that isn't working. Is this a common problem with a fix? PS1 games were all $2 each at a couple sales. Xbox games were 1 each.

This PS2 lot was at my last stop that I really didn't have time for, but couldn't resist. Glad I stopped anyway. In addition to the games are a PS2 w/ hookups, 2 controllers, baggie of paperwork, and 2 memory cards. $60.

Chrono Trigger, 35.00 on Ebay all the time.

I paid $35 for mine back in ~2002, at a game store (Game Force, in Palm Harbor, no longer there). Chrono Trigger is meant to be played, not bought and sold as a collectible.

Now, I'd go for the DS port, which is actually VERY good.

Not really a find, but I got an APC power strip for $20 from CompUSA (TigerDirect store now). This thing looks like it's designed for retro gaming, with SIX spaces for wall-wart adaptors, plus five regular plugs. Now I have ALL my retro systems hooked up, with a master power switch.

Looks like the Gamestop Xbox purge has begun (bumped another thread about it) so I picked up a blue Controller S, Lego Star Wars II complete and King of Fighters 2002/03 complete, grand total about 25 bucks after the 25% off and the Edge card. Probably hit a few other GS's over the weekend and see what I can dig up.
