Nice grab there Ryan. Just curious, does the seller have the same FM initials? It'd be neat if the seller was the original owner of all those games, and given the way it was listed is totally possible. :)

Luck like I haven’t seen in a while at Goodwill over lunch today….
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4702/psx2009.jpg
Right away, I saw a half dozen boxed NES games for $2.99 on the movie shelves which was unusual enough… snagged the two that I needed boxes for, and went to the CD shelves. Saw the Zork Anthology disk, and even if it isn’t worth anything, as a fan of the Hitchhiker’s text adventure, I’ve always wanted to try Zork.
After adding Zork to the 2 NES games in hand, my eye caught a freshly-placed stack of black-spined CD cases with the telltale NTSC logo at the other end of the row. I patiently waited until the guy looking at the classical CDs moved on, and then I started going through the stack of about 20 games, all priced $1.99 each.
Spawn, need it….Croc, have it for the Saturn, not the PSX…passed on a few sports titles….and then BINGO, one after another, Tomba!, Tomba!2, Klonoa, Final Fantasy VII!...plus a bunch of other less exciting titles I did not yet have in my collection.
3 months ago, most of these cases would have been empty already, but fortunately this Goodwill recently started keeping all disc-based media in these big CD binders behind the counters. The cases and manuals were in good shape, and my hunch that the discs would be as well turned out to be true. Best lunchtime score I’ve had in a while…it’s been a heck of a May so far!

P.S. Not to mention the fact that I learned that Magic Johnson’s Fast Break is filled with “Slammin’ – Jammin’ Basketball ACTION”!!!

Alright, lots of stuff to catch up on from the end of last week.
These PS2 items were across the week so I really didn't keep track of prices. I actually bought more, stuff for friends, resale this and thats, etc. which are not pictured. The TRU 30% off PS2 games sale coupled with use of the "spend $25.00 get $5.00 off" coupon allowed me to pick up quite a bit. All said and done I probably spent about $45.00 on the items below but I don't recall specific prices, all were sealed new.
PS2 - Rock Band Drum Set
PS2 - Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 2
PS2 - Lego Indiana Jones The Original Adventures
PS2 - Midway Arcade Treasures
PS2 - Rock Band

Pirate Famicom multicart arrived today from the boards...
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2009-05-04(03).jpg
Nothing spectacular, it's the usual multicart assortment.
Lastly, lately I've been rebuying a few of my favorite comics. My all time favorite being Dave Stevens' opus to the 1930's, The Rocketeer. The early stories were collected into a single volume back in the late 1980's and that's what I set out to pick up again. I ended up buying a copy off eBay for pretty close to the original cover price and was happy to be able to read the exploits of my favorite pulp comic once again.
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2009-05-04(11).jpg
Now what was really interesting, and a little surreal, is that as I flipped it open for the first time I was greeted with a signature inside the cover. The book was signed by the late Mr. Stevens. It was pretty strange to say the least since to me Dave Stevens was one of the greatest illustrators to ever walk the planet. It was also a somber moment since I'm still a bit in shock that the world will no longer be privileged to witness new output from him - and he's been gone over a year now.

Good find on that Klonoa! I have only ever seen about 2-3 in the wild. Two at a GS (one was complete, I bought it), and one at a family-owned game shop.
Keep it: you may never find another one for that price in good condition. ;)

lol I had no idea what you were talking about until I remembered the "FM" on all the games. If it helps any there's no "FM" on Dragon Warrior III. :)
Thanks for the advice. I was actually going to try out a magic eraser.
Yes, knowing that DWIII is in the clear does help! Congrats, BTW, that must've been exciting.
I don't really like the magic eraser for nes carts. It is an abrasive, so doesn't work well for me on the textured surface. Also, it doesn't take very much use to leave noticeable wear, IMO. I've had mixed results with rubbing alcohol and goo gone: sometimes one OR the other works well, sometimes neither. I'd consider using that enamel remover or whatever it was after testing, but my collection isn't in perfect shape anyway, so I don't stress over it too much.

Yeah, I need something that will work on labels also. I don't know if you noticed the copy of Robocop, but someone has partially colored in the title on the label with an orange marker. >_< I don't worry about writing on the plastic parts, but writing on the actual game label bothers me a bit. At one time I had a bunch of Atari 2600 carts with LARRY written on the end labels. That's something that really gets my goat.

In that case, rubbing alcohol almost always works well. As long as the plastic coating is still intact, at least.

hit up my goodwill like I always do on Monday. This goodwill has been bone dry for the past maybe 3 weeks. So before I walk into the store you can peek in the window as you walk towards the door and I noticed its full...So I got a little excited. First went straight for the display case, which is where they usually keep games and systems. They had about 20 xbox games...nothing interesting mainly sports and gambling games, 2 copies of Sonic 2 complete and a PS1.
So by this time by hopes were gone since that is where they keep their games so I just go to the VHS/CD section which always has mountains of crap there. as I browse I noticed the classic NTSC logo, it was Marvel Super Heroes...nice, manual was a little beat up but I got it anyways. Then I noticed Syphon Filter...nice, might as well pick it up and be 1 step closer to completing the series. By this point I was happy cause these guys usually know whats up, so they don't have PS1 games in the CDs. I keep looking when i find more PS1 games in very poor condition otherwise I would have picked them up, notable titles were Twisted Metal 4 and Cool Boarders 2, but I'm not complaining. I hit the end of the CD section when I noticed a bright green logo catch my eye in a double case...I say to myself how awesome it would be if its Final Fantasy 7 (my roman numerals knowledge is poor at best) so I grab it...spine did say Final Fantasy, turn it around and low and behold it was Final Fantasy 7...considering the condition of the other games, i thought this would be beat up, but it wasn't. It was nearly flawless.
Pretty good Monday trip:
Marvel Super Heroes (beat up manual) 3.99
Syphon Filter - 3.99
Final Fantasy 7 GH - 3.99

3 months ago, most of these cases would have been empty already, but fortunately this Goodwill recently started keeping all disc-based media in these big CD binders behind the counters.
Man, the places near me, too! I don't know what jackasses keep stealing the discs out of the cases, but I want to camp out the whole day at one of the Goodwills just so I can beat the crap out of the guy when I spot him!
Thankfully, Goodwills near me have started storing some of their media in the glass display cases. It just sucks having to wait around five minutes for someone to open it, then get sort of escorted to the checkout to make sure I pay for it.

My Goodwills have taken a much more rogue attempt at curbing theft. They tape everything to everything with industrial strength masking tape.
Recently, they started doing it to games, the things most commonly stolen. :shameful:

I still peel back the tape to make sure the disc is in there. There was a taped, empty case for Doom II for the longest time.

That is awesome, nice find! I remember seeing the Mario one at my local Best Buy back around '98 when the N64 was in its heyday. I have never seen a Fox or Donkey Kong anywhere.

After a year of being dead, my favorite Goodwill is once again showing signs of life. Too bad my luck sucks.
A few weeks back I just missed out on the second Turbografx16 I've ever seen in the wild (and the first that wasn't waaaaay overpriced.)
Last weekend they had a stack of games. I picked out a copy of Journey to Silius, thank you Happy Video Game Nerd. $3.99 for that, which is more than I usually pay. (I was going to put it back, but my wife was sick of my wishy-washiness and bought it.)
Due to bad box art and a Seattle location, I also snagged a copy of Shadowrun. But being a cheapscate, I decided to save $1.99 and changed my mind at the checkout counter. Way to go clever guy--turns out Shadowrun is an R4/$25.
On the happy side, though, I did walk out with Street Fighter Collection for the Saturn. $2.99. Nice! An R4/$40 and a good game to boot. Happy!
But the happy feeling was short lived as a day later I found out it's a 2 disk game and I only walked out with disk 1. Oh well. I still dig the box art and can still play the games on disk 1. Guess I'm on the hunt for disk 2 now.

One of the goodwills I frequent has a horrible disc theft problem. There's been a few times when I've been a good little citizen and taken all the empties up to the register to let them know. And you can always just pop the hinges on a jewel case and open it backwards if it's taped. :)

Today's finds:
THX 1138: The George Lucas Director's Cut (DVD, new) - $2
Ryuichi Sakamoto: Soundbytes (CD) - $1
Vangelis: Heaven and Hell - $1
Royal Crown Revue: Kings of Gangster Bop - $1
And I found an old style, hacker-like clacky keyboard for a buck. The thing appears to be brand new, just dusty and old. It doesn't even have a PS/2 plug... I have an adapter somewhere though! I've been looking for one of these for YEARS. Hopefully it works.
On the other hand, I'd like to kick myself because I passed on three PS1 memory cards for five bucks. Two were official Sony ones. Augh. When I came back they were gone. I figured I couldn't afford them... and it turns out someone bought some stuff from me while I was away so I could. Blah. :|

I picked up a few decent items today at Goodwill, with some non find BS too. Each game is complete $3.99 each
Toe Jam & Earl Panic on Funkatron
DeCap Attack
Skies of Arcadia
As for the non find BS. They had about 15 Dreamcast games there, some really good titles. However, more then half of the games didn't have the game discs. The more note worthy games missing discs were, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Street Fighter III Third Strike and Giga Wing 2. At least Skies of Arcadia had the game discs.

Went to my local Goodwill today and was surprised to see some games there. They have been having more lately, but mostly Genesis sports stuff. Today they had a couple Sega CD games, Prize Fighter and Ground Zero Texas, both missing their discs. They also had 3 A2600 games, nothing super. I did, however, pick up a couple computer games and a set of XBox 360 HD cables. They didn't have a price sticker on them, but there was a $1 sticker laying on the shelf, so I figured that they went together. Now all I have to do is to figure out how to test them since I have neither a 360 nor an HD TV.

Another neighborhood sale. Pretty far away, but I think it turned out to be worth it.
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/finds156a.jpg
x-files is new, $1
PS2 DVD remotes, $1. I was holding one when I asked the price. She asked what I wanted to pay; didn't particularly want it, so said $1. 'Sure'. Then I indicated the other and asked if there was more PS2 stuff. Nothing else, but she said to take the other one, too.
Risk was $4, marked 5. (passed on PS1 Civ II (disc doctored) and Planet of the Apes (can you believe it?))
Castlevania was also $4. This is a sale that they have every year and is pretty 'commercial'. New toys and other products for sale. I hate these types of sales. This game was actually there last year and I passed on it. Almost passed again.
Got this for $50...
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/finds156b.jpg
Oh, and these were at the same sale and included in that purchase price! Xenosaga is new.

I actually have no idea what they add up to as marked, since i handed the stack to them to set aside while I chased after my son and looked some more. When I got back they had it tallied, though I asked if they gave a bulk discount. He said they added to 53 or maybe 58? and they sold it all for 50. There were several people clustered around these games flipping through them (and some DVDs). I was holding my breath waiting my turn, but amazingly none of those people took any! Can't believe these were still there considering the traffic (literally jammed in some places) and that it was maybe 9.30.
This last isn't game related, but I thought it was pretty nice. I have better printers, but one uses the same ink. Marked 30 for all but he took 25. He said there must be about $70 in ink, but it is more like 160+. Heck, the cartridges empty would be $42 in credit at OfficeMax (assuming there are 2 in the printer, haven't checked).
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/finds156d.jpg
edit: Holy canoli! I hadn't really paid attention to the marked prices on those PS2/GC games, nor I guess had I thought about how good a deal it was. As marked they added up to $53 (couple were 7, then 4 or 3). The GC and all was marked $25. Oh, and they are all in excellent shape and complete w/ inserts except BG:DAII, which is missing the manual.

Guess I was too subtle. That has always just been an odd title to me, and so I decided to have a little fun with words.

Well the game was originally released on Sega CD and called Lunar Silver Star Story. This was the 'penultimate' version with some extra stuff and thus it was the 'complete' version. How Vic justified it getting released on the PlayStation i'd guess, because it was so much better than that cruddy Sega CD version **eye roll**.

Err, not to nitpick, but wasn't the Sega CD version simply "Lunar: The Silver Star"? Then, of course, there WAS a Lunar: Silver Star Story that came out in Japan on the Saturn... I think I used to own it as I got it in a Japanese Saturn lot many years ago...
...so, I think Lunar: Silver Star Story COMPLETE was the "definitive" version of the one that came out on the Saturn, right?
I shouldn't know these things...

I can't wait to get Lunar: Silver Star More Completey-er Edition two console generations from now.
It will include ten discs that include every possible related video clip for Lunar, including footage of Zach Meston eating a sandwich at his desk at Working Designs, and a video review licensed from someone off of Youtube. It will also include Large, XL and XXL t-shirts, because, well.... let's be honest here, there aren't a lot of small people buying this series. Also included will be a detailed strategy guide on opening the package that you can only read after opening the package.

I don't like you.
Now on a related note, I'm just pretty sure that the Saturn and PS1 versions are nearly identical, but once again, are just elaborations of the Sega CD release. Just of course with fancier visuals and more fan service in the packaged goodies.

Not a bad day for me. It started off slow with just the cards, but I hit up some garage sales and ended up with the 64, and then swung by a couple goodiwills, got the GCN and Kiki. It's a VHS, but I've never seen it in English before, and it's the kirsten dunst version...since I love Kiki so much I watch it at least a couple times a week, and love Kirsten, I figure why not?

$5 Random box/binder of cards (pokemon, magic, some weird marvel ones that look awesome, etc)
$3 Nintendo DS case
$1 Game Boy Advance case/manpurse (seriously, why is this 3x the size of the DS one? >_<)
$12 Nintendo 64 + 8 games and 2 PERFECT controllers (Don't you hate when you end up with crappy analogs!?)
$11 Nintendo Gamecube with Digi out, no controller
$2 Kiki's Delivery Service
.25c Ryu Action figure (come on, could YOU pass him up??? HADOUKEN!)
What's the deal on Elmo's Letter Adventure? IIRC it's one of the hardest-to-find US N64 games, no? I'm guessing it's still not worth much, but oh well. Actually, now that I look at it, almost all the games are either "scarce" or "hot". Not bad, I say.

Here's what I found today:
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/finds157a.jpg
Wavebird and Kirby were marked 10 each, and I paid 15 for both. KOTOR was $2 (such a good game). The LCDs and Sonic commemorative coin/CD thing totaled to 0.50 since they were doing half price today. Anyone know about this Sonic thing? I think it must have been an import game packin or bonus, but haven't looked it up yet.

Saitek X45 was $5 at a sale this Armenian guy does all the time. I think he must do flea markets, cause that is what his yard/garage looks like. I'd seen this controller there before and passed, but today I asked about it. Works great, just calibrated it and tested all the buttons. Makes me wish I was into flight sims, but instead it will go for sale. Anyway, the Armenian guy is pretty funny. Last time someone complained about his smoking and he started going on about how his grandma smoked for 80 years and lived to be 105... the docs are all lying... etc. etc. Not in a mean or aggressive way, though, just sincere. Well, here in MN it is aggressive since most folks are easily offended/affronted, but most places he'd just be talking. Today I also asked about an xBox for sale ($20, but I don't need it or want to deal with reselling), and he started talking about how it and the 360 are the exact same thing. Controllers for it were $5 each, 'any store they is $20', which is probably the only true thing he said!
The Timex Sinclair 1000 didn't have a price tag, so I had to deal with another Character. This guy was Slavic, I'd say, probably Polish since there is a largish Polish population here in NE Minneapolis. Big guy, too, and not fat. Anyway, asked how much and he said $10. I don't recall what I said, but something like 'oh, no thanks' and started putting it back. He asked how much I would pay and I said $2 (its kinda neat to have, but not really worth anything to me). He 'laughs' in a not at all nice way and starts scoffing and saying 'f*ckin this, that, the other' almost, but not quite under his breath. He walks over and picks it up and tells me about how it is 'brand new'. I tell him 'It was made in like, 1978!' (I was 4 years off, but that's the year I was born, so it just came out). I started to turn to go, but he shoved it at me and as I gave him the 2 bucks he asks why I want it if it is so old. I just said I collect some of this old stuff. Not the best response since it probably made him think it was actually worth something, but I was a little on edge and wanted out of there.

Cornelius, I think that was the package that came with the Limited Edition Sonic Adventures for the Dreamcast. Not 100% sure but, at least, I think it is.
A few new things for me today. The animation cel is from Captain N and came as a trade for a couple of extra games. The two games cost me $35 shipped.

Went back to a sale I went to earlier, and picked up a 360 for 10 bucks. It was painted in ugly yellow and blue paint, and the guy cut out one the sides and put clear plastic so you can see it operate. I am going to test it soon to see if it will Red Ring, and even if its broken I will keep the hard drive and sell off the parts.

3 Garbage Pail Kids & 6 Trash Can Trolls - .25
Got these at a sale on Friday, had a ton of non sports cards (a few hundred) guy said he'd sell them all for $5 but I only really was interested in these. Told him I had 9 cards, he said how about .90 which I countered with .25. It's funny that I mentioned GPKs just a few days ago then buy some just afterwards at a yardsale for the first time. Sorry no gum around either :D, I though the asking price was funny as IIRC that would have been 2x per what a card costed in a pack back in the day (.25 for 5 cards).
American McGee's Alice Cased (PC)
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Cased (PC)

This stuff was actually from a yardsale downtown that I've been to a few times in the last few years that always advertises "video games" got to the sale kind of late (about 8:10-8:15) but I wasen't too worried as not many people seem to go yardsaling around that area, kind of a run down part of town so I guess most yardsalers want junk from people in nicer areas.
This was at the same house that I got Shadow of The Colossus & Neverwinter Nights at last year and I don't think I mentioned it but I left my number at this house last year as I asked about older games & the girl mentioned her boyfriend who was at work and had a NES, SNES & Dreamcast which he forgot to bring down that he was going to sell. I got her cell phone number and called 2 or 3 times and even left a message with my number the last time and as always never heard back. I'm thinking maybe part of the reason they were lazy about getting back was the missing cords on the NES & no SNES system but who knows lol.
When I noticed what house this was I figured fuck it I'll just pass remembering them not getting in touch with me last year but since the only new sales today (Saturday) around my town were a community sale which I went to last year (and asked about video games at every house!) that is very popular with people crawling all over the place and a few street sales near this community sale that I've been to all of in previous years I figured I'd try my luck at what was out at this sale advertising video games as they always have at least a little something good (Suikoden III a few years back for example) and figured at best they'd have mentioned games from last year for sale and maybe even something RPGish for the SNES judging from some of the other games I've seen for sale before at this house.
I got to the sale to see all three systems out, the Dreamcast was marked $20 and only had about 6 games, Sonic Adventure & Evolution 2 being the only decent ones and IIRC both were missing manuals. The NES stuff was in a box and was marked $30, Resistence was marked $5, Sonic Chaos on the table .50, Genesis & SNES carts in a box marked $1 each. I grabbed what I did and asked about the NES offering $10 for it since it was missing the hookups. The guy was thinking about my offer figuring it out in his head with everything I had (which was close to $45 with all the IAPs). I offered $25 for everything which he countered with $30. I paid $30 instead of trying to be any cheaper and shaving off another buck or two since I was already doing good. I ended up grabbing the Genesis Game Genie as I left out of the $1 box for the hell of it. I passed on an NBA Jam or two which I already owned and a few 16-bit sports games.
I was happy about finding Donkey Kong Jr. as I have been hoping to find that or Donkey Kong for the NES but figured I'd try my luck at finding them in the wild instead of resorting to buying online since I already have Donkey Kong Classics.
After this sale I decided to call it a day instead of running around to a few of the street sales going on nearby since I figured I used up all of my luck at this sale and since the same community sales end up being (mostly) all of the same houses every year around here. I figured that I'd be better off saving the time today to clean the contacts on these games.

The Sonic thing was included in the Sonic Adventure 2 Birthday Pack. The only reason I know that is I received it in an EARLY GameTZ trade. The guy who sent it couldn't find its US counterpart in his trade bin to send instead.
