I was on vacation in Florida last week and decided to try to find some games, but only found a few things. First a note: if you're in the tourist-based area of Destin/Ft. Walton Beach Florida, I pity you if you are also a game collector. Here's what I found:
GameStop - there were 4 of these, but only ONE still stocks Gamecube and Xbox games. All the others are done with them. Also, they don't display their Gameboy games, you have to ask for a list. A list?? Forget it...
Goodwill - found one with a cool selection of stuff, but only one game item - boxed Genesis Jordan v. Bird for $5.99. Pass. Moving on...
Play N Trade - not much volume of stuff, but it ranged from NES to present. Got decent stuff from there, pictured below...
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/8983/img5326l.jpg (http://img7.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img5326l.jpg)
From Play N Trade (Ft. Walton Beach, FL):
In the Hunt (Saturn) - disc only
Bust A Move 2 (Saturn) - in case with Area 51 back insert (which I needed)
Blast Chamber (Saturn) - complete
Cyber Speedway (Saturn) - complete
Shellshock (Saturn) - complete
Last Gladiators Digital Pinball (Saturn) - complete
Razor Racing (PS1) - complete
Armada (Dreamcast) - no manual
Wild Trax (Super Famicom) - cart only
total was about $40
Kitsune Sniper
05-18-2009, 05:14 PM
Nuby Virtual Gun (Saturn Lightgun + PS1 Konami non-Guncon Lightgun) - $3
Mario Teaches Typing 2 - $2
Civilization IV Game of the Year Edition (great shape) - $1
Fantasy General (CD only) - $1
Edit:
For some reason my Ps2 isn't detecting the gun properly. Project Horned Owl thinks it's a normal pad. :( Haven't tested the Saturn side of it yet.

It was from a garage sale and the guy said it didn't work (he left it in the garage all winter long) so it was in his free pile. I fooled around with it, blew the dust out of it and kept turning it on and off and it suddenly came on. It seems to be working fine now.

That's a great deal, even without a proper power supply. The games are worth that much, I think. At least I'd pay that much.
I went to three Movie Trading Company stores, looking for mainly Genesis games. I picked up a little bit more.
Sherlock Holmes, It Came From The Desert, and J.B. Harold Murder Club for the TurboGrafx-16 CD, $4.99 each complete.
Bump 'N' Jump and No Escape! for the Atari 2600, loose, $1.99 each.
Ballblazer for the Atari 5200, loose, for $1.99.
And for the Genesis, all loose: Forgotten Worlds, Death Duel, Generations Lost, Zool, Championship Bowling, Ghouls & Ghosts, Wonder Boy in Monster World, The Ooze, and Red Zone. Most were around $2.99 to $4.99.
Super Monaco GP for the Japanese Mega Drive, loose, $2.99. It always astounds me when I find imports like this. I always wonder where they came from, how did they end up in Texas, that kind of thing. It's my second Mega Drive import, with Granada being the other. At least it gives me a reason to pull out the JP/US converter I bought in a thrift for 65¢. :)

Since GameStop marked the GameBoy Players down to $10, I took the opportunity to get a complete setup for a total of $40.
I checked the website for availability, and surprisingly, it's getting hard to find a GCN! A few around here had them, but I wanted a black one and didn't feel like calling/visiting 5 GameStops. Instead, I called Play N Trade, which had a black one (with digital AV) for the same price as GameStop. For the first time, I didn't buy anything else at PnT, just what I came for. That's a big accomplishment for me.
Since I was supposed to get a $10 gift card from GameStop for doing their feedback thing (I described this in another thread), I thought I'd pick it up and use it on a GB Player. I ended up paying for it out of pocket (again, described in another thread; I didn't get a GAMESTOP gift card...).
No sense posting a picture, you guys know what a black GCN looks like. Came with a silver controller (which he said he would swap for a black if he gets one) and it has a GB Player underneath it. Little scratched, but it's fine. I will, however, post the rather odd advertisement they stuck in my bag at GameStop.

It's an ad for the local beard-growing cult/club (?). Why GameStop is advertising them, I haven't the sightest idea. At any rate, I'm more the clean-shaven type.

Really? I've been running across them more and more in thrifts. Far more than PS2s now. I haven't seen a black one so far, though.

It's weird because I saw THREE in a thrift the other week, all for $10 each, but there were no hookups whatsoever. Two black, one indigo. They were just the GameCubes themselves, and I couldn't justify $10 for the unit when a controller is $15, A/V is $10, and power is $13, adding up to $48. Granted, I have a spare A/V S-Video cable in my bin, but I wanted a new controller anyway (my sister keeps hogging the GCN controllers).
The way it adds up, a GameCube costs -$8.

I see Gamecubes in thrifts more often than anywhere else these days, usually without hookups. I saw a bare indigo unit for $12.99 at a Goodwill on Friday and I'm pretty sure I saw a black one at another location last week. I checked the local availability on GameStop's website out of curiosity, and it looks like most of the stores in the area that have any Gamecubes in stock are out in the suburbs. I don't see the platinum units too often, but I can't imagine them being too tough to track down.

What's the order of desirability for GCN, personal color preference aside? I remember that my mom actually bought our GameCube (wasn't MINE, it was for the family) right after they stopped packing the Zelda discs, and it was a platinum one. I personally wanted a black one, but I remember the silver ones being a lot easier to find at that time, and I saw huge stacks of them at Costco, etc. Now, however, I'm reading that the platinum GCN was limited edition.

Back in September or so, Target blew out their Gamecubes with them eventually going down to $24.98 for a new sealed GCN. At the time, I picked up two (a black and a platinum) just in case some of my friends wanted one, but since they didn't I have my indigo plugged in and my other two are still sealed and have become a part of my collection. Here's to actually making the right choice once!

By pure luck, it was mine for only $21.59. It is complete and has absolutely every insert.
The whole thing is quite pretty, condition wise.
I have played a bit, and it just about left me in tears. This is one of the best and intense shooters I have EVER played, and probably now my favorite N64 game!

Chrono Trigger - $50 (varies a lot)
Lufia - $20
Lufia II - $40
Paladin's Quest - $10
Mega Man X2 - $40 (PM sent on this one)
None of those include shipping, those are the cart-only prices I've seen, and they're ebay prices.

Got my PS3 today!
Purchased a 40GB model with intentions to upgrade the drive with one official controller, a wired Mad Catz controller, and a copy of Motor Storm on ebay for 240ish. It comes with 14 day money back return, and it comes with a 10 month remaining warranty from place of purchase. (GameCrazy). So I'm set for any problems that could arrise
Well I have a problem....I have not been able to play one game on it.
The system would Freeze on one game, and another it would error out.The one that it would error out I know works. So I upgraded the firmware and it let me start the game. Before I was able to do anything it froze again. Now the system no longer recognizes there is a disk in the drive. Did the Lazer -just- die on me?
I'm thinking on taking it in on warranty since it's 100% transferable (I checked) anyway.

Sales were pretty dry today, but at one sale a guy had a table of random electronics. He said he'd bought a pallet of this stuff. Well, it was no surprise that the two things I bought don't work, but for $5 each I can't complain, and I think I can fix the Lite...

I asked about a 'Gunfighter' LED game and he just gave it to me with the DSs. I've got two of these now, and will probably swap some parts to get one in nice shape w/out corroded terminals.

To celebrate getting my car back from the shop and having my air conditioning work again, I went to a couple Movie Trading Company stores after work. The one in Arlington seems to get pretty decent stuff on a regular basis, but the ones in Grand Prairie and Duncanville hardly ever. But anyhoo, their Memorial Day sale means all previously owned games are buy two and get one free. So I picked up:
Junction - Genesis, loose
Chase H.Q. II - Genesis, loose
Paperboy - Genesis, loose
Ghostbusters (blue label)- Atari 2600, loose
Faery Tale Adventure - Genesis, loose
Viewpoint - Genesis, loose
Off The Wall - Atari 2600, loose
Joe & Mac - Genesis, loose
Shining In The Darkness - Genesis, loose
Normy's Beach Babe-O-Rama - Genesis, loose
Star Trek Star Fleet Academy - 32X, boxed and complete (!)
Kolibri - 32X, boxed (!!!)
I've been wanting to buy Kolibri for years, but I never spotted one in the wild after the downfall of the 32X. It's also nice to have a copy of Normy's Beach Babe-O-Rama, which is based on a comic drawn by one of the Blue Sky Rangers, the group who programmed games on the Intellivision.

I got a copy of Quantum of Solace for the 360 with a T-Shirt and guide for about 20 shipped on e-bay, which arrived today. The box is a little squished but overall it's in good condition and I'm really happy that I didn't have to spend more than I wanted to get this.

Traded the broken PS3 on warranty for another 40gig. Brought it home tested it out to make sure I was satisfied. Opened it up and popped in a spare 250 gig HDD I had lying around the house. SWEET! Also got a free 15 month warranty on this one too!
Also bought:
Ratchet and Clank Future
Civilization Revolution

Which ones do you have? I have PokeMon GS Stadium and Super Smash Brothers.
My import N64 collection is small with only 3 games, but that's mostly because I've been focusing on other systems as of late.
*(Sorry if this is off-topic, I don't mean to thread-jack.)
I have to look for them, I don't even remember. The last two I got were Bangai-O and Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth.

Finally found something at the flea market. Granted it is not much, but I did pick up a lose cart of Action 52 for the Genesis for the outrageous price of $1. One of the vendors had a couple of the old model of the 2-XL Robot that used the 8-track tape cartridges. Each one had one tape. I didn't bother to ask him what he wanted for them since I had no idea if anyone actually collects them.

It had been dry for a while at that flea market. This was my first game find for the year. I have had some other good finds there, like the Turbo Express that I got for $10 and the 3DO that I got for $20.
