I went back to that place where I scored the RPGs last Thursday, and I found three more:
Secret of Evermore (cart only)
Dragon Warrior II (cart + protective case)
Dragon Warrior III (cart + protective case)
Someone was a roleplayer, heh. I also got the UK version of Doom Collector's Edition (in a DVD case) to replace my beat up US copy for five bucks, and a used copy of Adobe Illustrator 9.0 for two bucks (hope it's unregistered!).

Drove around Corpus today trying to find maybe a cartridge or two. After getting lost several times we did end up with a few things. My fiancee found some beanie babies and at another sale a couple expansions for Sims 2. At that sale I found a bare PSOne for $5, sticker says it works.
After the sales I went to a flea market I usually skip. Several places had games, not at a price I wanted to pay though. The same guy who had the Sharp NES six months ago. This time his special deal was a 5200 with a ripped up box and 5 games for $100. This sounds high to me, but I have looked into it in awhile. The old man at the booth thought it would be worth $300-400.
Kitty corner to his booth is a booth run by this hippie guy I've talked to a bunch of times. I'm going to sell him a genesis model 2 w/ hookups for $30, does that sound reasonable.

A friend of mine at work found a box of games he didn't want anymore ,and was about to trade em into gamestop, I dug through the box a bit and pulled a few games out (pokemon and metal gear) he took the rest to gamestop, and came back a few minutes later saying they offered him like 20 cents for everyting...he ended up givving me evertrthing they wouldn't take for a small fee.

aside from halo 2 everything is up for sale or trade as I don't really collect current gen games.

With all the bad things associated with Game Stop around here, I thought I should occasionally post when something good happens there. I've been looking for a boxed complete Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis for the Xbox for quite a while, but my local GS's never have it in stock (and now, never will). I've seen this on ebay for no less than $30, often times much more than that for a complete copy. So I call around and find a GS about 100 miles away has a copy, and they even check to make sure it's complete. Then I go to my local shop, they call and get it transferred to my store and it arrived today.
I like that they will do this for free, but they don't really offer it. You have to ask if they will do a store transfer for you and it truly depends on who you talk to and what kind of day they are having whether it happens or not. Anyway, I got it today and with the 25% Xbox game discount and my Edge card it was right at $20 after tax. Not bad at all!

I considered hitting the Goodwill store today, but since it's had nothing worthwhile in previous trips, I let it go. I thought about going yard sale hunting, but I'm sick of sorting through endless piles of used clothes, stuffed toys and illegally copied VHS tapes.
In short, much everything in this area is sitting in a used game store at a price no one will ever pay, or overpriced on craigslist because someone thinks their old console with 2 sports games should cost more than an Xbox 360.

You know what's funny, all the Gamestops in my area refuse to help me with this. There's one store in particular which is in the same city, but I can't go to it because there's no bus route that goes to that particular part of town (and I don't own a car). So I've asked all the other stores if they can help me, and they refuse. Even after I tell them other stores do this. :|

I have to look for them, I don't even remember. The last two I got were Bangai-O and Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth.
Oh yeah! Bangai-O!
I have that on the Dreamcast, but owning the N64 version would be cool to. You can never go wrong with buying Treasure's games a second time! ;)

I had FANTASTIC luck today
First stop was a garage sale that advertised Classic Videogames
Each system was $5 a piece, each boxed game was 50 cents a piece, each sealed game was $1, each loose cart was 25 cents and I also grabbed some empty boxes for 10 cents a piece. Oh, and the plushes were $1 a piece.

The games to the left of the Star Raiders are sealed.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2472/3557581177_35f335c586.jpg
Then I went to the Flea Market and a few stores. As usual, the flea market was way overpriced but I was able to get a few games I've been looking for. The Tecmo Bowl is still sealed so that's a definite bonus. My husband was REALLY excited about this one.

Nice finds chrissylas!
I took my girlfriend out to breakfast this morning and afterward we ended up driving around in the South San Jose hills. There were a number of yard sale signs out and we stopped at a few randomly, all of which didn't have much at all - granted it was after noon when we got to them. The last one we stopped at was right off a main drag but they had tons of stuff like old TV's, a bunch of VHS movies, things that usually lead to something decent being there. No video games but they did have three boxes full of Star Trek TNG VHS tapes. I looked them over and asked how much - $20.00. For some reason I debated it in my mind before saying that I would take them. The seller said it was the whole series and that they also had the entire TOS collection earlier but one of the other people at the yard sale ended up taking them and was considering this other lot.
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2009-05-23(01).jpg
A little dusty from sitting on a shelf but all in great shape. I'd say they're in 98% perfect condition, just a little wear to the cardboard snap cases. I sorted all of them by season and episode. Ended up being 86 TNG tapes and a single sealed TOS tape. She was right, it is the entire series except I'm missing the first tape from the second season (The Child / Where Silence Has Lease). I'm assuming whoever got the TOS set has my missing tape while I have their missing tape.
Really can't argue, twenty bucks for my favorite Trek series. And worst case scenario I can always make my $20.00 back at a yard sale for the set.

A bunch of Star Trek: TNG tapes
It's a shame that those tapes aren't worth much anymore, since they released the DVD season sets. Turn back the clock 5-10 years and those tapes would've been worth a pretty penny. My dad sold the entire VHS set on eBay a while back, just before the DVD release, and I think he got something like $200-250 at the time.
Also, those are some really nice cheap finds chrissylas! and that sealed Tecmo Bowl is pretty nifty too!
Today was my senior band trip, so I couldn't go to garage sales in the morning like I usually do. It will be pouring rain tomorrow so I won't go the flea market either.
For the trip we went to a mall in Grapevine Mills, TX (and other places) to this giant arcade called "Gameworks" that was obviously sponsered by SEGA. Almost all of their machines were by that company, they had a ton of UFO catcher machines, and I saw only 2 Nintendo (Mario Kart) machines out of the entire arcade. I stopped by the mall's Gamestop and picked up Medabots AX: Metabee version for $3.99. I've been wanting this game for a while because it's really a good underrated game. I also got Gradius Galaxies for $1.99, which wasn't bad either. I also went to this "everything's a dollar" store and picked up a small Crash Bandicoot pillow for a dollar (obviously). There's no telling how long that thing sat in the store. On the subject of these "dollar something or another" stores, has anyone seen the type of weird crap these stores carry?
The arcade had some sort of Japanese beetle fighting machines made by SEGA. They use some sort of playing cards. Anyone heard of these, they looked fun but the cards we received gave us unlimited play on only non-prize or ticket machines for a set time, and I didn't want to go buy a card just to play one or a few machines (though the UFO catchers looked tempting).
And by the way, Crissylas, what Atari 2600 game is that in the top row, middle? The one with the white label and the odd looking yellow character on it. I've never seen an Atari game with that cover.

Today I decided to trade in my doubles, Triples, and Quadruples. HOly Crap, it took four hours to find all 100+ or them.
I got 90 for my traded in items and I got the following with that credit:
Complete (minus box of course) near mint Intellivision. My Intellivision II still needs a PSU...
Pokemon Stadium (Making a boxed copy almost complete.. missing instructions).
Kirby Super Star
Tetris Worlds
Kingdom Hearts (Finally I get my hands on a copy)
Dance Factory.. Interesting enough. It will take your CDs (even burned ones) and make dance out of the tracks. I got it for my Fiance's Birthday.

It's actually a homemade label the guy had put on a Strawberry Shortcake cart :)
Yeah, I loved today :D I was able to replace some of my carts with the ones I bought today. (when I buy a double I always see which one is better and replace mine if I need to) and the doubles are some great games to sell/trade.
I need more room for my 2600/Intellivision collection though... I pretty much doubled them both today :D

Just a heads up, Dance Factory isn't like DDR/Stepmania or Audiosurf in terms of taking music you put in and putting it to the rhythm, it's almost as if it's random.
Nothing game-related today, but I DID find one of those bubble-wrap keychains for a lot cheaper than they have them at Thinkgeek.

Yesterday my friend and I went for pizza, and on the way back we hit a few thrifts. I didn't buy anything, but the first one we went to had an Atari Masterpieces Vol. 1 collection for the Nokia N-Gage. This was a game you couldn't find in stores, places like GameStop had already started getting rid of their N-Gage stuff by then. Atari Masterpieces was only available by mail order from Nokia, and then they only did it for a year or so. Talk about rare to find that in the wild. And of course, the game card had been stolen out of the box. People suck, especially the kinds of people who steal from a children's charity store.

$45 spare luxury cash left for the weekend. Time to head out.
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj72/diosoth/mayhaul3.jpg
$25 for SRA at Gamestop in great condition, $10 for the Sonic toy at TRU. It's the same body as the "Black Knight" Sonic, but with a normal hand.
I wasn't paying $30 for SRA especially when the local store got on my nerves about it.
Curious, Gamestop charges $20 used for Sonic Rush, which is the TRU price brand new. Yet Gamestop sells Sonic Chronicles for $25 new while everyone else sells for $35.
I also learned of a Goodwill store in that area. Not the one I usually stop by. They... were an even worse store. All games were sports titles, shy of a copy of Halo for Xbox. I don't have the Xbox anymore. They had an Atari 2600, 2 controllers, 2 paddle controllers, 10 games for $30. NO AC ADAPTOR. Bordering on overpriced AND no guarantee it works. It was also in abysmal cosmetic condition.
Why can't people seem to realize that condition dictates value?

I had some great finds today at the swap meet:
http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/7093/img0177u.j...
I see gold cart OoT and Castlevania on his table. Ask for a price and he says $4 each, and I can't get him to go any lower than $7 for both. So, because I don't either of those and it's a pretty good price, I bit. He then goes behind the stand and pulls out boxes for OoT and Castlevania: Legacy of darkness (which I think is different than just castlevania for N64, correct me if I'm wrong.)
I think cool, and ask if he has any more games back there. He says no, but I have just the boxes for some, you can have them for 25 cents each. I figure they will just be average N64 game boxes, but the first one he pulls out is Secret of Evermore, then secret of mana, and I shit bricks. I get him down to a dollar for all of the boxes. After that, I see the Brain Lord box, and remember it was on his table, and it's an Enix RPG, so I go grab it. He gives it to me for $3.
So, for $11, I got:
Zelda: OoT Collector's Edition CIB
Castlevania cart only
Brain Lord CIB
Super Mario 64 box + manual
Zelda: Majora's Mask box + manual
Castlevania Legacy of Darkness box + manual
N64 system manual
Super Metroid box
Secret of Evermore box + manual + poster
Secret of Mana box + manual + poster
Donkey Kong promo VHS
http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/2138/img0179i.jpg
These come from a guy who runs a store with just a bunch of crap, he occasionally gets games in and saves them all for me because no one else buys them. He prices all games at $2 each.
So, for $4 I got:
Bio Hazard Battle CIB
Shadowrun CIB
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/9319/img0181aeh.j...
The lady wouldn't go any cheaper than $15 for these three.
For $15, I got:
Super Mario Bros. 3
Kirby's Adventure
Pokemon Yellow
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/831/img0182k.jpg
Golden Sun actually has no game in it, someone stole it, but the guy just threw in the box and manual when I bought Guilty Gear.
For $3, I got:
Guilty Gear X Advance Edition CIB
Golden Sun box + manual
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/248/img0183r.jp...
Sorry for the bad pic, but that's Pokemon Emerald. It was originally $10, I offered $5 and he said 8, so I bought it for 8.

This week I picked up a few things:
1) Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball (Xbox) - $5.00, complete - I only wanted this because I compiled a burned version which I downloaded years ago that has the nude hack applied. I've never actually owned the game itself, so I've never played it. I just wanted to burn it before the patch and files disappeared from the net.
2) Peggle Dual Shot (DS) - $24.99 - the price tag said $34.99, but it was actually $24.99. This isn't really much of a "find" since I paid full-price, but I just wanted it
3) Game & Watch Collection from Club Nintendo (DS) - price tag was $14.99, but I got 10% off with my
Edge card. For comparison purposes, I paid about $12 USD.
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s182/c0ldb33r/th_001-2.jpg (http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s182/c0ldb33r/?action=view¤t=001-2.jpg)
I saw the Game & Watch collection on the used shelf and was surprised to see it there. When I went to buy it, the clerk was surprised too. He said "I wonder how that made it out of the hold shelf". I asked what he meant and he explained that employees can hold games that come in and buy them themselves instead of putting them on the shelf. He also told me that if he had seen it, he would have bought it himself :)
What is supposed to be in the game & watch collection case by the way? Mine came with the game card, instruction manual and health and safety precautions booklet. I was expecting to see something special from Nintendo inside, maybe a letter or some stickers or something.

i was minutes late at the flea market today, i traveled a distance away from me where there are 2 flea markets close to each other. I spent about 30 minutes at the 1 and found nothing, then i went to the other and after i just started to walk around a guy passed me carrying a sega saturn system in the original box. It turns out he a regular game vendor inside the flea market, it would of hurt less if a kid or something bought it, but a vendor there, that sucks. I also missed out on a bear kodiak compound bow, i looked at it and set it down, and then came back 5 minutes later and it was sold. They were asking 25 for it.

Went to the Flea Market Saturday and Sunday...
On Sat:
-4 issues of Gamepro magazines and 2 issues of Nintendo Power (the Gamepro issues all have Nintendo themed covers) -50 cents each
-Turok Evolution strategy guide-good condition-$1.00
I also stopped at a pawn shop on the way back home and found:
-Turok-N64-loose $6.00
Then today went back to Flea Market and found the following, complete and in good condition, all for Gamecube
-Tales of Symphonia-$2.00
-The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker-$2.00
-Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles-$2.00
-Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean-$2.00
The Wind Waker game still has the receipt in it from 2003, I thought that was pretty cool.

Today was a good day for finds. A 64k Tandy Color Computer, a bunch of carts, a Multipak Interface, Disk Controller/RS-232 expansion carts, floppy drive and disks, which are mostly blank. There's printer ribbons for a DMP-200 printer too, not pictured.
All work great, tested the entire thing with the Diagnostics cart, except for the drive. I get an "?IO Error" when it tries to load a disk. I don't know what's wrong with it, but it doesn't really matter because not much came out on disk anyway.
Oh, and three sealed copies of Color Math. LOL
The cost? $65.

I checked my mailbox today and received instructions and warranty card for my Sega CDX. The eBay vendor found these months after shipping me the CDX I bought from him, so he sent me them for the cost of shipping. There's also a notice about Sherlocke Holmes - apparently you have to fire up the Sega CD occasionally or it'll lose your save files (I've never had that happen) and also an ad for Sega Vision.
It was really nice of the guy to send me the Sega CDX docs, but man... they stink of cigarette smoke like something awful :(

Went into goodwill yesterday cause I was really bored. Only thing I found was this Dragon's Lair board game for $1.99. Not too bad for the price. Had everything it was suppose to, and condition was pretty good.

The cocktail is a little confusing though. It was advertised as a Galaga but a quick look at the ad showed that it wasn't any Galaga I've ever seen. It doesn't have a title screen when it boots up so I'm trying to figure out what it is. The glass on the top of the machine is broken so I'm going to have to replace it. Going to post in the Arcade section to see if anyone can help me figure it out. Game is pretty fun though!

3) Game & Watch Collection from Club Nintendo (DS) - price tag was $14.99, but I got 10% off with my
Edge card. For comparison purposes, I paid about $12 USD.

I just found one of those at GS too, except it was the Japanese version.
Also, I had no idea GS employees could hold stuff. I should have figured they did, though. :/

Being able to instantly hold a game that comes in is one of the only reason that makes working at a place like GS/EB worthwhile. Back when I worked at EB it helped me expand my collection by a fair margin.

Don't they have a 20% discount card, or something? One of the guys at the local GS says he uses one with the Edge card to get 30% off. If that's true, I wouldn't mind working there. Their ridiculous business practices are still off-putting, though.

Yep. The only annoying thing about that is when there is some sort of massive sale you have your choice between your discount or the sale. They rarely let you use both, which just annoyed me.
But yeah, first dibbs is why I work at a pawnshop while I'm in university. It's cheap and easy finds come to me, I still go hunting though.

Yeah, no special letters or anything in the Game and Watch Collection case. You got really lucky with that buy, I had to pay 800 Club Nintendo coins (value of about $800 worth of stuff :S) for such a bare-bones game. Luckily most of the stuff wasn't mine to begin with and about 100 coins came from post-play surveys, so all's good. Now I'm saving up for Hanafuda!
Recently I found:
Pokemon Master Quest for PC - $1.98
Goldeneye 007 - $3
PSX w/ one controller and cables - $5

My main problem would be gutting new games. It feels dirty selling people stuff that really isn't new. ;_;
Back on topic; I found a copy of Warioland Shake at one of the local Blockbusters this past saturday. It was still on sale for $19.99.
Funny thing is, I had another store call this location about a week ago to see if they had any. The answer was no, even though it was in stock.
The game happened to be on the shelf, so I guess the employee on duty that day never thought to look there. LOL

Well, this is stuff I purchased over the weekend and today.
-An original manual for my Donkey Kong Cocktail (ebay $4.50)
@Value Village
-Double Dragon V (1.90 CIB)
-Ren & Stimpy: Stimpy's Invention (CIB) $1.90
-Tom & Jerry's Frantic Antics (CB) $1.90
-Bubba -N- Stix $.80
-A proprietary RF connector for an IBM PC jr. (in awesome condition) $2.12
@Random Thrift
-Wing Commander Expansion Set CIB (3.5 Floppy) $1
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3567607445_05dbbae216.jpg
So I actually found a complete 3.5 Floppy version of Wing Commander II a few months ago at the same thrift. Too bad I don't have an older PC to run these on.
Also, I did some research and found thats an accessory for the IBM PC jr. From what I understand it's a failed attempt for IBM to cash in on the success of the Apple II. At any rate, I searched the forums here and found only 3 threads about the PCjr. Not exactly popular but it also may be hard to find. If anyone's interested let me know, I'd be up for a trade of some sort.

First thing I bought was this Tomy Atomic Arcade Pinball mechanical toy from 1979, cost all of $3.19. (My brother got one of these for Christmas after it came out, and the idiot took it apart to see how it worked and never figured out how to put it back together. It only lasted a couple months!) I also picked up a cartridge for the TI Speak and Spell electronic toy, since it came in the same package as TI Home Computer software used to come in and that gave me a warm fuzzy. Turns out there wasn't any cart inside the case, however. I also picked up the newest iteration/abomination of the venerable ol' handheld Merlin for $4.19.
At a couple Movie Trading Company locations (Frisco and Plano) I picked up the Genesis carts, ranging from $2.99 to $4.99: T2 The Arcade Game, King of the Monsters 2, Road Rash 3, Micro Machines, and Atomic Runner.
At a Microcenter store I bought Harvey Birdman for the Wii marked down to $6.53, Commandos Strike Force for the Xbox for $4.28, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance for $5.34.

Oddly enough, the TV connector is somewhat hard to find for the PC Jr. The PC Jr. was the first home IBM computer, and its clones like the Tandy 1000 actually outlived and outperformed it in the marketplace.

Well, it's been over a year since I've posted any finds on this forum but I finally got off my lazy ass and took some pictures of what I managed to get within the past two weeks:
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u160/Xexyz1337/IM000518.jpg
Retail Buys:
- Imported DoDonPachi: Daioujou Black Label EX off of NCSX.com
- Domestic release of Raiden Fighters Aces came from a Game Stop, and it was *gasp* sealed!
- Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga, non Player's Choice, sealed, paid the full $29.99 MSRP due to finding it at a local chain shop. I just couldn't resist the temptation.
Flea Market Finds:
- Blades of Steel, complete for $3. It was mixed in a display full of VHS tapes...
- Raiden Trad (complete) and The Punisher (missing manual) for $5 together. The vendor I got these from had a bunch of overpriced PS2 and Xbox games, so it was kind of odd he had two Genesis titles (desirable ones at that) just sitting there in the mix.
- The Raiden Project, complete for $2. This find made my day because I've been looking for this compilation for years now. It was at a junk vendor, who had 6-7 other jewel case PS1 games sitting there. They were all football & golf games, so Raiden was definitely the oddball of the bunch.
- The rest of the PS1 games, Crypt Killer, Lethal Enforcers I & II, Rage Racer, No One Can Stop Mr. Domino!, Vandal-Hearts II, R-Types, Torneko: The Last Hope, Wild Arms, and Wild Arms 2 were $5 a piece from a single vendor. They were all re-sealed in cellophane. I doubt the seller was trying to pass them off as new, he just did this to discourage assholes who steal discs from the cases.
Now that I look at it, there's a bit of a Raiden theme going on in my post :D

DOSBox is nice, but real hardware is always going to be more accurate. It's not expensive to build a retrogaming PC, just be on the lookout for a cast-off Pentium I/II, about 64mb SDRAM, HDD under 32gb or so, Win95, an ISA SoundBlaster 16/AWE series, and a few ZIP drives. Optionally, get a 3dfx card for Quake. The ZIP drives are for transferring drivers, abandonware, etc. My SB AWE64 sounds better than anything DOSBox can put out.
I'm holding off on posting finds, since everything this past week is eBay and it won't be in my hands until I'm home from vacation. I'm going for a complete Dreamcast library, and I'm almost 7% done.

Really awful day at the flea market. Nobody had anything interesting except for one vendor who wanted $20 for a couple of Chinese Translators (the handheld types) and a Video Professor set... I was about to leave when I took a turn and looked at a booth that wasn't set up when I got to the place in the morning, and I noticed some CDs just lying there. I saw Japanese so I took a look. And when I got there, I thought this:
"What the hell is Tokimeki Memorial 2 for the Playstation DOING HERE?!"
I snatched it up, and it appears to be complete. All five (!) discs are here, as is the manual and some sort of ad for a music single. I kept poking around the same booth and I picked up a complete copy of Office 2000 Premium and a shareware game CD for my collection.

The Prairie Home Companion CD and the Works 2004 were $2 a pop. The former's for me, the latter's for eBay.
The top stuff... Black Hawk Down is the Mac version and it -seems- to be worth a lot of money for some reason. Some idiot on Amazon has it for $100. The lowest price for a used one is $25. I figure, I can probably get $10 off it on eBay (haven't seen a copy there for a while.)
Vampire The Masquerade doesn't include the manual. :|
The Casino game for the Dreamcast is complete, and I never thought I'd own a game with that asswipe De La Hoya on the cover, but eh. The total for those four items was $3! After I paid, the booth owner came up and wasn't happy that one of his workers almost gave these to me for free. :p
