My only local Sears has, for the past two years, never put anything on clearance. Their "clearance" bin is full of price-cut stickers with the MSRP on them. Having them rung-up reveals that they're price as marked. Lord...

At least you had some luck at one of their other locations. :)

At least you had some luck at one of their other locations. :) That sucks, ours always has clearance. Maybe try complaining to corporate or something, I assume its supposed to be a universal clearance?

I was being lazy and hadn't bothered to go for a while because I hate going to the mall, probably if I went last week there would still be multiple copies of Pikmin and MadWorld left but I only found one.

Try explaining clearance to my local Walmart.
They have Bloodrayne for the GCN, Madden 2005 for the PS2 and Road to Fifa World Cup 2006 for the x360 for $30.

My local store just said "Fuck it" and made every game in the clearance rack $15.

Some were $5 last week.

So I got a major haul for a very LOW price on craigslist (I won't say what as I am selling a portion of this lot), but it was good

I believe I speak for a ton of other posters when I say DAMN YOU

That chip thing is cool. It looks like it's for the 2600, try putting one of those chips in there and see if anything boots up. I might be interested in that...

Anyway, I got Tempo Jr. and Surf Ninjas on the Game Gear. The former is definitely better than the latter.

One of the local Wally-Worlds just brought out two fresh stacks of Twisted Metal (one of the newer PS1 releases) and a PS1 Winnie The Pooh game. They are all yours for the nice sum of $19.88 a piece! ;)

Not a misprint. Mine still has MLB 2005 and Who Wants To Be a Millionaire for the PS1 for the low price of $19.88 each. Most wal marts just don't clearance anything.

A few years ago, there was a Wal-Mart by me that was closing because they moved the store down the street to a new location and they were selling their games at 75% off. My cousins and I went in and cleaned up, we literally had a cart full of games and our sales per person were like $300-400 each. I think I walked away with 40 or 50 titles from that sale.

What's weird is they re-opened that Wal-Mart a little while later, putting two locations within 3 miles of each other. I don't know if they were clearing out overstock or what but right before the holidays, they had a TON of titles for $10 each. Fire Emblem had JUST come out on DS that week and it was in that bin at that price. :)

Of course I haven't seen any killer sales like that from any of the Wal-Marts around here since. There are three that are relatively close to where I live and all three have a dump bin set up on an end rack near the games section. It's mostly $20 titles that they took out of the glass cases to make room for newer releases though.

Scooped a couple things today.

Quake 2 (W9x), Soldier of Fortune 2 (W9x), Lightening Force: Quest for Darkstar (Genesis, cart only), black official GameCube controller, Age of Empires (W9x), Encarta 96 (woohoo!), Space Jockey (2600), and some others for a couple dollars today. Not a bad haul since I was looking for a copy of Q2.

I should have been a bit more specific, so here it is:

Ummmmmmmm guys...I have no idea what they are haha. I was thinking they were just standard games in some wacky device you Atari/Coleco/Intellivision people use

Like I said, I don't collect for those systems (though I collect everything else), so any input/advice/information would be wonderful.

I didn't think they were anything special...but maybe you guys know better?

It's very possible that it is a bootleg cart. Back in the day some that were tech savvy would build cartridges like that, and then just swap a copied IC to play different games.

Today's finds:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-02-13.jpg

Total was $20. I already own all of these, but the copies are much better than the ones I own so they'll be replacing them and my extras will be put on sale. The guy at the booth said that there were lots more games, but he didn't know where they were, which makes me think two things:

One, the box got lost somewhere
Two, the guy that works for him nabbed most of the good stuff before I arrived.

The two memory cards I found had save files for Suikoden II, Silent Hill, FF Tactics, Metal Gear Solid, and a few other big-name RPGs. I'm going back there tomorrow to see if anything else popped up.

Also of note: Found two Saturn games, but they were soaked for some reason. They were Scud and Johnny Bazookatone. Also, I missed out on a box filled with Sega CD games by a few minutes. :(

... lots of stuff ...
Congrats on that haul, some really nice games and tons of interesting items.

Yesterday I picked up a bunch of music CDs and two games,
Die Hard Trilogy 2
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis

$4 each at a thrift store, been wanting the RE3 for years now and finally bought it. Ahh memories of hanging at friends houses late evenings in high school playing newly released rentals. Wanted the Die Hard game for the shooting, could use more light gun games.

So yeah, it was a good day. Today was so good I'm not even sure I want to bother going back out tomorrow morning; I might just sleep in! My favorite finds from the bunch: DJ Boy, SNES Zelda (that sticker is on the shrinkwrap, which is completely intact except for the right-hand edge), NGPC KOFR2, and Iron Soldier for Jaguar. The NES lot was great, but a ton of these games are duplicates -- from my own collection, that is. I'm not sure why the guy had so many duplicates in the pile; I didn't ask. When I asked him the price he said he do $3 for each game, or $50 for the whole box. I tried to get him down to $40, but he wouldn't do it. We finally settled on $45, which was still a killer price, considering the NES came with a total of 68 games, 1 Game Boy game and that weird XaviX thing. I'm gonna have to look that up.

If anyone sees anything they like, I wear a medium, and I like Turbo Grafx stuff. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

I passed on a Bases Loaded 4 cart only at the pawn shop a few years ago. Only one I've ever seen used in the wild in my area. Passed since I really had no interest in playing it but would have grabbed it just for the hell of it if I realized it was worth about $10 and was rather hard to find, it would have only set me back a buck

Got a Starcraft II calendar tonight at Borders for $1... They also had Resident Evil 5, WoW, and Diablo ones. All calendars are $1, and they have quite the selection. Everything from Thomas the Train to Playboy. Noteworthy titles were "Nuns Having Fun" and "Porn for Women." The latter had a dude on the cover (LaVar Burton?) fully clothed, but holding a plate of strawberries and whipped cream. I can see why they're all $1...

Why would we call you a moron you idiot!

Now if it was 60 cents maybe, but at 60 dollars it's nothing special.

We don't care how much you spend. This whole point of this post is about what people really find. Price tag is subjective. If you post something like I trade my DS Lite for some Sega Genesis sports title and bitch about how you really screwup, then you will expect some rude welcoming.

Speaking of awesome fiancees/wives, Achi got me Arkanoid DS, Korg DS10 and an import Arkanoid paddle add-on for VDay. I got her a case of 9 import FFXI Trading Arts figures. Thank god they aren't totally random! I was going to be pissed if she opened all nine and was missing just one. >.<

Well that was disappointing. A guy in my area had a lot of 50 or so Japanese ps2 games and when he brought them they were clearly fake. The pictures printed on the front were all pixelated and blurry, no playstation writing in the inner rigs, Cero Ratings were cut in half on the sides of the discs.

This was especially a disappointment because in his add he had games like mushihime sama as part of the lot. That game alone would cover 85% of the cost of the entire lot if it were real.

So just a reminder for you guys, ALWAYS check the games you're buying in person before doing anything because these things DO happen.

at the swap meet:

sonic and knuckles cart only - $2
romance of the three kingdoms IV PS1 - $5
shining force genesis cart only - $6
n64 gameshark - $3

and the best thing:
pokemon n64 with pokemon controller, cords, transfer pak and star wars rogue squadron cart for $30.

definitely keeping this for my collection, i've been somewhat looking for a pokemon N64 for a while and all the ones i've seen are either overpriced or shit condition. maybe i'll keep shining force, gonna try it out at least.

Here's what I got yesterday:

Master System:
Ghostbusters (complete) - $1

PlayStation:
Tokyo Highway Battle (complete) - $1

Dreamcast:
Psychic Force 2012 (complete) - $5

The Ghostbusters manual had several codes written in it, and there was also a folded sheet of paper with more codes. I spotted two names - Eric and Heidi - written inside the manual. One (if not both) of them spent quite some time with this game back in the day. Maybe I'll play around with a few of the codes someday.

Half Price Books has been running a Presidents Day sale all weekend, from Thursday through tonight, which is 20% off everything. I forgot to take in my coupon on Thursday but they said I could bring it in with the games I bought and they'd take the 20% off then. Of course, I always find more games and walked out with this purchase:

Ghost Recon 2 (Xbox) complete
Medal of Honor Frontline (GC) complete
SW: Rogue Leader (GC) complete
Gex 3: Deep cover gecko (PS1) complete
Robotech Invasion (Xbox) complete
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Xbox) complete
Splinter Cell: Pandora tomorrow (Xbox) complete
Medal of Honor European Assault (Xbox) complete
Goldeneye Rogue Agent (Xbox) complete
South Park: Chef's Luv Shack (Dreamcast) complete

All for $31.39. Not rare stuff, but for under $3 each, great for the collection.

It's time for Foxhack's Stories of Fail!

I went to the flea market and didn't see much of anything. Except for a pile of taped DVD+Rs in cases... so I ask how much and the seller says $2. I figure, $2 for 11 DVD+Rs in cases isn't so bad so I pay.

I get home and unwrap the tape, and realize... that there's only -one- DVD+R. The rest are Lightscribe CD-Rs. Well F me. :P Oh well, I can use the CD-Rs for something, I guess...

I'm extremely happy right now! I picked up a CIB copy of Popful Mail from a local Craigslist seller. The best part is that I only paid $15.00 for it! :D

I also got a few less notable finds over the past few weeks:

Daxter for $4.99 (Used, CIB)

Lego Indiana Jones for $14.99 (Used, CIB)

Official Sony PSP UMD Case for $14.99 (New) - I really like this case because it uses magnets to hold the UMDs in place instead of clips.

Pokemon 4ever for $6.99 (New)

Pokemon: Jirachi Wishmaker for $6.99 (New)

Dock sale.

Got a dirty PSOne with a broken CD door hinge for a couple bucks, couldn't bear to leave it just sitting there, and perhaps it'll be good for parts/a portable project :D. There's an third party memory card stuck in it so I guess that's a bonus.

Also got a almost complete copy of Toy Story 2 (PSX) for $0.50.

I got a lot of small misc things; calculators, XM radio stuff, and PDAs this time. Most interesting find today was a Psion Organiser II with a 64k card and a "MATHS" card. From what I can tell the Psion Organiser series was the first PDA ever made, the one I got in particular was made in 1986.

Saw a lonely copy of Pokemon Pinball (GBC) and an original model 1 Genesis, loose. But to be honest I need those things like I need a hole in the head.

/me hides behind a couch from the Sega fanboys with pitchforks and torches.

I saw this IDIOT throw a freakin' POLK AUDIO XM radio receiver (XRt12) into a box, damaging it. I rushed to and and saw the guy had cracked it's front faceplace. I still bought it anyway, though. Why can't more people respect good quality audio stuff?

Decided to check out toysrus (looking for the exlusive transformers animated figures that SHOULD be out)

turns out they are clearancing out a shitload of mediocre to decent games, I picked up:

http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/snk.jpg
I passed up alot of other games including samurai showdown collection(hated the series) and the tru exclusive soul bubbles and the collector's edition of afro samurai. (I left the rest for the creepy ebay reseller assholes) might go back for a copy of soul bubbles.

not bad for the price at all, also picked up a shoebox of ninja turtles and some transformers at a yard sale on the way back.

stopped at another yardsale and picked up a large plastic tote filled with power rangers ninja turtles and beast wars figures:

now I just need the time to sort them out ;-)
