Is that a light sixer or a heavy sixer? Good price on the lot regardless of which type you got.

The local thrifts didn't have jack squat today, but I went to a few much farther out of town that I knew to be fairly reliable, and found some stuff.
http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/StevePW/stufffortoday.jpg
Strikers 1945 for $1.99, and in their glass counters were the PAL format releases of Crash Team Racing and Cool Boarders. Here again is another instance of finding imports in the US, but instead of them being Japanese, they're British this time. Pretty cool. Also found in their cases (and almost overlooked because of the clutter), the Nokia N-Gage Atari Masterpieces Vol. 1, still factory sealed and shrinkwrapped. This was one of the games you could only get off Nokia's online storefront and wasn't available in stores, and this is the second I've come across in thrifts! The first one, sadly, was missing the game because some shoplifter thought it was a regular old memory card. Dumbass.

At the next thrift I picked up the Tandy Baseball game, and the Challenge Master handheld. I also passed up on a couple sweet looking '70s era board games that I'm sure I never would have gotten around to playing. At the previous thrift I came across some electronic board game that was like Battleship, except with submarine warfare and having to plot out locations and enter them into it's little calculator brain. Maybe I should have picked that one up since it was nice and nerdy.

I went to the Console Game Exchange in Frisco, TX and bought Soccer Kid for the 3DO. A while later I stopped at their Valley View Mall location and picked up Galahad for the Genesis (a port of the Amiga game Leander).

As you had it covered up I must ask, does your Atari Game Center's lid have a giant crack on top? I'm just asking because mine does and I remember seeing one on Ebay that I was going to bid on having one.

I do have to say that sticker looks nice and healthy though.

I am actually very illiterate when it comes to Atari2600 and it's different models/variances. However, upon you asking I researched this and found out the differences. The one I got is a light sixer.

Nope this one is all intact no real defects to speak of other than the logo sticker in the very center of the lid is peeling off. Most I've seen don't even have this sticker attatched anymore so I consider it a plus.

Nice finds! I didn't get out yesterday, so I'm heading out later this morning to look around some. Surprised you bought something from CGX in Frisco as I go in that store to look but never buy anything due to their high, high, high prices! Anything that even LOOKS different is placed in a case with the price jacked up.

Apparently they closed their Town East location and rolled the inventory from there out to all of their other stores. They all seem to have a lot of new stuff, but I'm with you on their prices. I wanted to buy about 7 or 8 Genesis games, but since they want an additional $40 to sell them with the boxes, I laughed and walked out. Probably won't ever go back in there as it's just a waste of time now.

SNOW! SNOW! SNOW! EVERYWHERE!

AT THE DOCK SALE! AAUGH!

Oh well, it was a C64 day today. I found a few boxed C64 diskette games: Winter Games (Haha) and Zaxxon, maybe some others as I can't remember and a boxed Epyx Fast Load cartridge thingy. I also was lucky enough to find a Wico Command controller (the 2600 plug version) and 2 Wico "Ergo" joystick things, they look like the Epyx 500XJ joysticks. Interesting. The Ergo Sticks also have 2600 plugs. I tried them a little and they feel to be well made, as most Wico stuff is.

Also got some CDs; nothing interesting. A few bands I don't recognize, a copy of Monopoly Tycoon, and some others. One album is called "Tales From the Punch Bowl" or something like that. It's too cold to back to the car and check.

Mixed with the older PC stuff I found a minty boxed TEAC 5.25" floppy drive. Score!

Final thing was a boxed copy of Trump Casio (or some Trump gambling game or another). Dunno if it's worth anything, but it's neat.

Also, the VHSs you guys saw the other day were covered in snow. Not a great loss I think.

Hit a couple of Goodwills today looking for picture frames for some of my art, but struck out on that front. Did find a couple of gaming items though:

Formula One (Genesis) mint missing manual $1.99
Game of Life (PS1) mint complete $1.99
Project Gotham Racing 2 - Soundtrack Series by Malaco/Microsoft $1.99
---EDIT--- Did some research and this is the "HipHop" release, as there were 3 PGR2 Sountracks released - Hiphop, Electronica, Alt. Rock

Stoked to find stuff that I needed for the collection, plus my FIRST gaming soundtrack in the wild! NICE!

Spike McFang is a bit obscure, but not that expensive. How did people even swap circuit boards in the 90's anyways?

Nice find! If it's not power supply, replace the sockets on the mobo. I've fixed tons of Atari boards that way. Tedious, but effective in most cases.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered a: monitor cap kit, a board cap kit, a AR board rebuild kit, and a new "Big Blue." After I finish these I'll see where I stand, and maybe give this a go. There's only 4 socketed chips on the board, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Although I do remember it too me quite some time to add a socket for the Z80 on my DK board.

Brigandine was part of a $21.50 bagged PS1 set at Salvation Army that included a system, 2 controllers (both with PSM Final Fantasy VII stickers on the plugs), RFU adaptor, Ridge Racer Revolution, GH Jet Moto, PlayStation Magazine 06 and a bonus SaGa Frontier disc in the system. Unfortunately, it is missing the manual, but it does have the map.

Bust A Groove was $3.99 at Goodwill.

Not too shabby.

What I've gotten so far this month:

Early in the month:

Xbox, $10 for the three ($5 each, buy two get one free).
--
Malice
Gunvalkyrie (no manual)
Arctic Thunder

Then today I sold a relatives' broken PS2 slim back to the store, which he said I could do (and keep the money from... yeah, that was nice of them), so that paid for $12 of the $20 here, meaning that I only paid $8 for these three games... (as above it's buy two get one free there)

Scud: The Industrial Assassin (Saturn) -- new and sealed, though I have since opened it because I'm not a sealed game collector (I'd never keep a game without opening it, and I doubt it'd sell for anything that amazing on Ebay anyway, it's not the most valuable game exactly...)
Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox) -- listed at $13, but he only charged me $10. I've played this game halfway through before, and it's my favorite game on the system. Awesome, awesome game...
Goblin Commander (Xbox)

Then these two were separate, at a different place.

Xbox
--
Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller ($4)
Pulse Racer ($3)

Several days later:

Xbox
--
MechAssault - $5

Week and a half to two weeks ago:

Genesis
--
Burning Force (cart with clear plastic rental case with photocopied B&W box front and back pasted into the front) - $2.50

Xbox
--
Dead or Alive Ultimate - $5
Outrun 2 - $6

2/18 (six days ago):

Game Boy
--
Mega Man III - $4, cart only. Awesome find, I never thought I'd find this game for so cheap... so I started playing it of course, and yeah, it's amazing. The third, fourth, and fifth GB Mega Man games are exceptional games, some of the best MM games ever. III isn't quite as good as IV or V, I think, but still, it's fantastic. The game's $10-$20 on EBay, so it was a good find... (but again, not quite the equal in value to MMIV ($20-$40) or MMV ($30-$50)). Awesome, awesome find, I will be playing this (when I'm not watching the Olympics. ).

Xbox
--
Dark Summit -- fun SSX clone with a basic story. I've played some of it so far, and it's definitely entertaining. Okay graphics for an early Xbox game, fun SSX-style gameplay, decent music... it's not great, but it's certainly good enough to be worth playing for fans of this kind of game.

I also got a new PC gamepad, finally, a Saitek P990. My old P880 broke over two years ago, so it's been a long time... it's fantastic to finally have one again. ($20)

Two or three days ago
--
Tecmo Classic Arcade - Xbox, $9 (complete)

And finally, today.

Mortal Kombat II - 32X - $5, cart only

Not the most amazing game ever, sure, but I did want it, and I don't exactly see 32X games very often... had to pick it up. Pretty cool find!

Also, while I was there, the guy let me have two disc-only Sega CD games for free... I go in there and talk to him sometimes and was there for a while, and he ended up just letting me have them. I wasn't about to refuse... (they were untested)

Flink
Mickey Mania

Yeah, both of them are great platformers. Both are also on the Genesis, though Flink was evidently only on cart in Europe, so this is the only US version. I'd never played it before, but it's a really good game with great cartoony graphics and fun fantasy platformer gameplay. I'm sure I'll be talking more about this one in the future. The disc does have a little damage on it and in one of the early levels the music fails midway through the level, but if that's all that's wrong with the disc, I don't mind at all.

Mickey Mania... that one's much better known, and popular, for a reason. Great game. I think I like Flink more, really, but this game's fantastic too, and the Sega CD has the best version. Disc had a bunch of gunk stuck to the top of it, but I got that off and it otherwise seems to be fine.

Also, I got these in another store:
Insecticide - Nintendo DS - card only, $10 -- I'd been interested in getting this one for quite some time... finally did. Seems fun enough.

And four jewelcase/disc only PC games for $1 each:
Diablo (disc only)
Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes, Includes Corkscrew Follies (disc only; I already have the base game, so why not get the expansions? )
The Humans (disc only)
Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R Twin Pack (in original jewelcase; I mostly got this for Sonic R, which I don't have yet outside of emulation, as I already have 3D Blast on the Genesis. I do like 3D Blast though, so I don't mind getting another version of that either.

So yeah, some pretty cool stuff there, and some good luck...

Wow. 631 puts you close to completion! Nice work!

Today I hit a couple of stores. At Movie Trading Company, a guy walked in to sell some stuff when I was looking through the games and his lot included some Genesis stuff, so I waited around til they were done. At the end, they only took about half his stuff, but most of his Gen stuff. Here's what I got:

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/944/sam0861.jpg (http://img52.imageshack.us/i/sam0861.jpg/)

From MTC, for $15 I grabbed:
Puggsy - Complete!
Goofy's Hysterical History Tour -missing manual
Pink Goes to Hollywood - missing manual
Toki Going Ape Spit - loose

As I walked out, the guy was still in the parking lot, so we started talking and I asked to see what they didn't buy. He showed me the other games so I offered him $10 for:
Gex (ps1) longbox complete (with Wheel of Fortune game as well)
Funny World/Balloon Boy - missing manual
Flintstones - complete
Ariel the Little mermaid - complete

Trying to carry on the luck, I headed to Entertainmart and got:

I've noticed a lot of people have been picking up Genesis games lately without the manuals. I've been passing on quite a few because they aren't complete - are the manuals easy enough to come by, or are they just opportunistic pickups? I'd love to add a few more items to my collection, but I prefer CIB and I tend to pass on good deals for Genesis games (sadly) if something's missing.

Like you, I typically will only buy if they are complete, but with a game that I rarely see or have NEVER seen before in the wild, I'll get the game without the manual hoping to find one later. Sometimes the game and box are tough enough to find alone and I find that I've been able to trade manuals to get some that I need.

Also, it's so rare that I even find decent Genesis titles anymore around here that it's hard to pass them up at under $4 each with the box.

I'll pick it up for $4 with the box, but typically my finds are R4-R5 at $8-$10 with cart + box. At that point, I'm not sure if the rarity warrants the price w/o the manual or inserts. I'm up to 170 now for Genesis, so I've still got plenty to go. I just don't feel like tracking down a ton of manuals or inserts later on...

Shadow, I almost 99.9% guarantee I will have ANY genesis manual you need. Genesis has been my hardcore collecting passion since I've started and I've acquired so many extra manuals that I don't know what to do with half of them. They're pretty easy to obtain if you ask me...I used to find them on ebay all the time. The ebay store BreeGames used to carry hundreds, but it looks like he no longer does.

I forgot about a few finds I got today.

A PAL PS1 console with hookups, though the controller appears to be for North American systems. I'm not sure if it would have any problems or not, are controllers compatible with all regions? Are there any PAL exclusives worth getting for this? Is there any way to get it to work in North America? I don't have any PAL games to test it with, though I guess it can play audio cds. It also came with a Topview Movie Card, I'm not sure what it does besides allowing VCDs to be played but it seemed cool.

Rainbow Six Collector's Edition for PC, most of the CDs are still sealed, but the 2 cases that are open are missing the discs. I'm not sure what to do about the discs, besides waiting until I come across some for replacements. Everything else is complete and included.

The Adventures of Pinocchio for PC, it's supposedly an adventure game so I picked it up. Though it's an FMV game and based on the 90's movie, I'm still hoping it will be decent.

Dude, holy shit. I've been looking for a copy of this for a while now, since I found the other game in the series, loosely based on The Jungle Book live action film with the guy from Dragon, the Bruce Lee "biopic".

If what I saw in The Jungle Book is any indication... you're in for a boatload of WTFery. (Do want T_T )

In the mailbox, waiting for me to get home were:

Aerobiz Supersonic (SNES, boxed) - from a fellow forum member
Panzer Dragoon Saga (complete) - from ebay

I've always wanted to try out Aerobiz because my buddy would talk endlessly about how much fun it was. PD Saga, on the other hand, was my own personal grail and finally, after many years of searching, raping and pillaging, I have acquired it!

I had no idea the game was a part of a series, I will be playing it though to see what it's like. I'm not quite sure why it says it's compatible with a microphone but that should be interesting(if I can find a microphone). I just have the discs in the case, no box or anything else. It's weird, but I had a feeling that if anybody would be commenting on that find it would be you. :D

There's another copy of it on ebay for really cheap, it's actually listed for less than what I paid for my copy(I didn't have to pay shipping though).

Well, it's not so much a series, but Jungle Book (a complete in box copy that I found at my usual flea markets) had ads for Pinocchio inside, and it seemed to imply that it was made by the same dev, and followed the same gameplay pattern. So I feel comfortable calling it a "series".

I'm trying to locate a CIB copy, though. :p

I went to the flea market and scored a complete and minty copy of Castlevania Bloodlines (plastic case version) for $3! After seeing that review by the Sega 16 guy over on the classic gaming section, I figured it was worth buying.

Bonus: The case also had the manuals for Castle of Illusion, Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage 3. I left Castle of Illusion and Sonic 2 and kept SOR3, because I keep finding manual-less copies of SOR3 all the time. :p

Plastic case version for $3...nice. I haven't seen one of those around here in quite some time. I picked up my cardboard Bloodlines (along with Hard Corps) for $3 each when I first got back into collecting in 2008.

Oddly enough, I haven't played them since I picked them up. I guess I know what I'm doing in the morning.

Picked this up for $100 only when I bought it the 360 had E73, took a chance and sent it in to MS and I just got a brand new console. Now I get to sell the extras from the purchase to recover the initiial cost.

And for once, I'm not selling the game. :p I'm aware the plastic case version is less common than the cardboard one; I'm just happy that I found this because the cardboard version tends to be all beat up whenever I do find it. And I HATE cardboard boxed Genesis games.

I probably should've picked up that plastic case version of Buster's Hidden Treasure yesterday, and now I regret not doing so. :( Argh.

Blitzwing: I'm still waiting to hear from you about that copy of Samsho Anthology for my friend. We can work a partial trade towards it (and a second copy if they're English-only.)

Maybe I need to send mine back in to M$. My 360 has been dead since I did the most recent update back in May and it fried it. I expect them to charge me an arm and a leg.

oh I forgot to mention, I went back the next day to pick it up and soul bubbles and everything worthwhile was gone, I asked the register jockey and he told me one creepy guy bought about 500$ worht of games (only leaving the dora games and the sports games behind) . He did have a couple copies of soul bubbles and friends left that weren't out that he sold me, I feel dumb for not grabbing more at the time.

I'm a little pissed right now. I went to a dumpy little shop that has a few UK Dreamcast games. Previously, I had sent 98PaceCar into that place because he wanted to get some Japanese Dreamcast games they had. They sold him something like 15 games for a total of $45. When I wanted the PAL DC games, they couldn't find any prices for them. So I told them I'd be back later once they had figured it out. I went by today, and they still hadn't put prices on them, and searched all over eBay for prices (which they couldn't find since they were looking on US eBay for UK games). The guy refused to sell me the games since they couldn't price them. 98PaceCar got a heap of games for $45, but they want to screw me out of a maximum amount of cash I guess. Since the Japanese games couldn't be searched on eBay, they gave him a deal, whereas I always look like I've got money or something, so I always get shafted. That happens with every flea market I've been to where the prices aren't on the items. I once saw a woman asking about some NES games at a flea, and the woman told her they were $2 in Spanish. A minute later I asked her how much they were, and she wanted $5 for them. That pisses me off. Especially because I'm not good at haggling, I get angry and walk off.

I also came across a thrift that's only open three days a week, that I rarely go to anymore because of their batshit crazy prices. Today was the same, they had a 4-switch Atari 2600 with a Radio Shack universal power supply, one joystick with the rubber boot missing, and a Donkey Kong cartridge... for $89.99, with a tag on it saying "No discounts". I wanted to tell them that I had bought one yesterday for $10, but didn't bother.

Yesterday after work I hit a new thrift I'd spotted across town, didn't find anything. But on my way back was an old Sizzler steak house converted into a trading post, where I bought the Atari Heavy Sixer (with a broken difficulty switch) for $10 and that Japanese Saturn controller for $1. Today all I found was that Tandy Backgammon game to add to my growing electronic handheld collection.

First off, here's a picture of my find from yesterday.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-02-25.jpg

I didn't mention that the previous owner stuck some game genie codes in the case, between the plastic and the cover art. Thankfully it wasn't stickers. It also included a printout of codes from Galoob's website from back in the day. That's kinda cool.

Anyway, today I managed to score one of my DVD holy grails!

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-02-26.jpg

No, not The Black Hole (though it is kinda cool) - The Terminator Special Edition. But wait, you say. Doesn't Wal-Mart sell this? Not this one it doesn't. It sells a second printing of this that has absolutely NO EXTRAS. This one has a commentary and I think it has a making of, too. I actually ordered this from a website years ago and got the second, cheapy version. I've been looking for this particular one for years now, but I never stumbled upon it until today (well, I did find it once but the artwork was trashed). This is a flipper disc, which sucks, but oh well. I can manage.

The Gundam model is for eBay, but I'm willing to sell it or trade it if anyone's interested. :p

Edit: Wait, it doesn't have a commentary. BOO, JAMES CAMERON, YOU LAZY BASTARD. It has some DVD-Rom extras (probably the script) and a making of. Still pretty cool.

That Gundam Wing model looks sweet, and nice find on the SE Terminator. I've got the second printing one, which does indeed suck because it doesn't have extras.

Also, congrats on the cheap Ogre Battle 64 find Giant. I'd love to find that game for <$20.

Backstory on Ogre Battle 64:
I rented it from Blockbuster one weekend (when it was only 3-day rentals). I played through the whole weekend on that game and rented it a couple extra days. Sunday night, I was only 1-2 battles away from the ending. My mom told me I needed to get off the game, and I told her I was close to the ending. She told me I had spent too much time playing it for the weekend, shut it off, and returned it.

I'll never know which ending I would've gotten :( I have that memory burned into my brain, and it's the only thing I think of when I see that game. I must finish that game, just to see which ending I'll get.

Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance (Xbox) $4
Britney's Dance Beat (PS2) $4
Intellivision Classic Games (PS1) $3

All games are complete, and I'm heading up to play the Intv game right now. I never knew Britney had a video game, and I just couldn't pass it up. It looks cheesy and relatively lousy, so I hope it lives up to the hype!

I've heard that the Intellivision PS1 game wasn't all that good. Something about having to replicate the keypad with an analog joystick. I own a copy, but I honestly don't remember a thing about it, so it must not have been good. See if you can find a copy of Intellivision Lives! for the PC/Mac. Far better, although the Mac version is OS 9 I believe (at least mine is).
