PS4 Skullgirls has been shipped. They're still waiting on the Vita version.

Consider me a LRG noob... What's this code to buy Night Trap? Some loyalty program or something?

As Aussie2B stated it sold out quickly, and they found out that a lot of sales was because while there was a limit of one listed, it allowed people to add as many as they wanted while normally it stops them from getting more than one. So they stated that everyone who had an excessive amount of copies were going to be cancelled altogether and anyone who sent a support ticket would be placed on the waiting list.

You can still purchase the game at $75 without the code, listed at that price to circumvent people from purchasing it. Any remaining copies will be sold on the site sometime in January. Here's the link though. https://limitedrungames.com/collections/sold-out/products/limited-run-74-night-trap-ps4?variant=43337253827

I'm surprised they didn't price it even higher. Weren't the Oddworld trading cards originally at $100 for anybody who was trying to get them without a code? I kinda feel like they're hoping some people who didn't get on the waiting list will bite at that $75 price point.

Are the releases from Fangamer comparable to the ones from Limited Run Games? There's something that interests me from Fangamer but I don't really know anything about them, if their releases are limited or not, if the quality is ok, etc.

Well, they don't have much history in it yet, with only Shovel Knight and Undertale (and with the former, they only acted as the distributor), but the rarity of Shovel Knight was about on par with a LRG release (they made 5000). I don't know if anyone has released numbers for Undertale. Quality-wise, I'd say they're a step above. Shovel Knight was only $25, which is as low as LRG prices go, for a game that's arguably more acclaimed than practically any indie LRG has released, plus it came with a nice 40-some page full-color manual, when most LRG releases either don't have a manual or it's been some little chintzy thing like the manuals with Xeodrifter and Thomas Was Alone. With Undertale, the quality of the LE absolutely blows LRG's CEs out of the water. It's better than most LEs I have period. The standard release is also $25 like Shovel Knight, and it comes with a really neat story booklet that's been made to look like a Little Golden Book (this is also in the LE).

The first batch of Crawl and 2064: Read Only Memories, both for PS4, have gone up, along with a bunch of 2064: ROM merch.

Also of interest is a little survey they're doing where you can weigh in on their CEs, rate of releases, and a bunch of other stuff: https://t.co/JIyYuFYgjb

Sounds like they're pretty good then. I guess the only thing to consider is if they're reliable with packing and shipping but they probably would be. Still very tempting then to buy from them. I'm hoping their PC releases are big boxes but the size doesn't really matter that much.

Right now I only have the internet through my smart phone so I don't check this site as often as I used to. My replies are getting later somewhat.

Just when I thought I was safe...yet ANOTHER release...and to make things worse, on BLACK FRIDAY. Great just great. I have enough issues getting the regular releases now (remember, no electricity and extremely limited internet), but offering it that particular day... frigging great. Thanks LRG... 😠

Yeah, I honestly don't know what LRG is thinking lately. They announce Super GunWorld 2 three days before release, and it's only getting 2000 copies, making it the second lowest PS4 print run from LRG. On top of that, Claire is only getting 2500 copies on each platform, which are print run sizes we haven't seen in over a year. Why are we going backwards here? It's been great seeing many of the recent releases last all weekend.

Fangamer seemed disorganized in getting Undertale shipped out. It seemed like they got overwhelmed with the volume. Originally, all the standard copies ordered and the first batch of the LEs were to go out in late September, but shipping only begun then and continued for a good month or more. They claimed they'd be shipping out LEs before the standard copies, yet I was seeing people receiving standard copies before my LE had shipped. Ultimately, I waited patiently for like three weeks or some such and finally caved and sent an e-mail. It then got shipped out right after that. It seemed like a squeaky wheel gets the grease kind of situation, and goodness knows how much longer I would've waited had I not sent the e-mail. The packing was adequate. It was first put in cardboard and then in an envelope. I've seen better packaging of LEs (like NISA using thick bubble wrap), but it was good enough to get here unharmed. With Shovel Knight, it was shipped quickly and also showed up in perfect shape.

I gave in and bought what I wanted yesterday for cyber Monday, kind of as a birthday present for myself as it's coming up soon. Shipping was discounted to free which was really nice, and I didn't need to sign up for an account to make the purchase which I greatly liked. I hate having to sign up for accounts online so I usually avoid registering to many places. Today I got an email saying it's already been shipped out and I have a tracking number, which I'm surprised with as it's still listed as a preorder item. I'm just hoping it'll arrive safely at this point. This is just the second time I've bought anything online myself and the last time was in 2008. It's also been ages since I've paid more than $5 total for any game.

If you're curious what I ordered my avatar should be a good clue. :)

Side note, looking at LRG releases are they really mostly just for PS4 and Vita? As much as I like the Shantae releases I have no plans to ever buy those consoles.

So far all of the LRG releases are PS4, Vita and a few PC. They were recently approved to start doing Switch releases and the first of those should roll out in early 2018.

Windjammers and Claire: Extended Cut, each on both PS4 and Vita, with standard and collector's edition versions of Windjammers, as well as a bunch of Windjammers merch, have both been put up for sale, though the first batch has sold out.

Today, I decided to rule out another aspect of my LRG collecting. First, I stopped buying every platform variant of their releases, then I stopped buying any of their PS4 releases unless it's the once in a blue moon release of something I just gotta have, and now I'm saying to heck with the cover variants. They've gone way overboard to a stupid degree with those, so even though I got the variants for Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Runner 2, I decided to pass on the standard edition of Windjammers, even though it has a different cover from what's in the CE. The cover variant situation is even more BS than usual with this release since they could've (and should've) just made the CE copies have a reversible cover, with the side exclusive to the CE facing outward. A CE, with its higher price tag, should have everything the standard edition gets and then some. It's total nonsense for people to pay over twice the price and still not even be able to use the standard edition's cover if they'd like to. Personally, I also would've preferred the cover of the game to differ from the CE box, rather than both using the same art.

If I weren't so big on collecting LEs in general, I think I'd stop buying LRG's CEs too. Between the excessively high price tags compared to what you receive, the mediocre quality of what you receive, the cover variant nonsense, and the whopping $12.50 they charged me for shipping on this, they're hardly worth it. I don't know what the heck is up with the shipping cost this time. I've bought CEs from LRG four times before, and I never got charged that much for shipping. The La-Mulana EX CE cost me the usual $5.50 on shipping, same with Wonder Boy, and same with DariusBurst, which I even got another game with. The Ys Origin CE + Asdivine Hearts set me back $7 on shipping.

While not from LRG, another limited physical PS4/Vita release that LRG customers may be interested in is available for purchase starting today:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/arcadedistillery/skullpirates-a-piratey-action-rpg

SkullPirates is from the same developer as Plague Road, but for this game, they're using Eastasiasoft to produce physical copies (so I guess it's technically an Asian region release?). Physical copies are only available through this Kickstarter campaign. An unlimited number of standard copies can be ordered, but they're also offering an LE of which they're only producing 250 for each platform. I just barely got in on the double pack (one Vita LE, one PS4 LE), which saves $10 per LE, but the LEs can still be bought individually.

Edit: Looks like they shuffled the numbers, making more of the double packs available. Grab 'em while you can if you're interested.

LRG is definitely catering to collectors. All these variants are done on purpose so that collectors shell out more for variants. They know this so they do it on purpose. But it's getting to a point of it being a bit... abusive. Their CE/LE games are lacking and expensive, other cover variant is just a way to make collectors buy more copies...it's asinine. I'm happy im not that type of collector, but I still want LE's whenever possible.

Oh, and once again they are doing weekly releases? This really has to stop.

Aussie2B
12-03-2017, 08:36 AM
Yeah, I think they've evolved from "catering to" to "taking advantage of". All the CEs and variants are starting to feel pretty predatory, especially toward collectors who have OCD tendencies. In all my many years interacting with fellow collectors, I've come across very few who have said they actively enjoy buying up cover variants. Usually it's something they begrudgingly do, just because they want a full set of some form and feel "forced" to get all the variants. Myself, I didn't mind when they were reversible. Since I'd open my copies anyway, I didn't care which side was initially facing out. Once opened, there's no difference between one copy and the next, and it's nice to have the option to choose which cover you'd like to look at. But now that they're pulling crap like with Windjammers (which on top of the cover variants, even has a frickin' frisbee variant) and the whopping three covers for 2064, there's really no positive spin I can put on any of this. It's just them squeezing collectors for extra money. I'm glad the upcoming SteamWorld games are more like how LRG releases used to be. Only $25 apiece, and every copy contains both covers. I'm also glad to somewhat spare myself from their release schedule, since I just pass on the weeks with nothing but PS4 releases.

Yeah, I think they've evolved from "catering to" to "taking advantage of". All the CEs and variants are starting to feel pretty predatory, especially toward collectors who have OCD tendencies.

People don't have to buy them, or is that not what you stated to me when I was complaining that they were doing too many releases, variants, etc, just because they know collectors are super OCD and will buy them? That they were releasing everything could rather than actually going for better titles. Look at the recent list of releases though. December 1st was the first week and they've released two games, they're releasing two more games on December 8th. The Steamworld Dig games are releasing December 15th, so that's three weeks in a row so far and six games, plus depending on the game there's both PS4 and Vita versions. If you don't take into consideration that it's a different month, November 24th was Super Gunworld 2, November 17th had two others, and November 10th two more. So six weeks in a row they released 11 games. If you guys don't realize it's all about the money at this point, then you really are blind. I do appreciate them still being in business though as they actually have been releasing good titles lately, Ys Origin, Nex Machina, La Mulana, Windjammers, and Wonderboy for instance.

I also bought Windjammers for PS4 and Vita, but they stated "we're only going to ever go up $10 on what it is to purchase the game at its current MSRP(no sale price)." Windjammers is $15 on PSN but it's $30 through LRG. Now they're pricing specific games higher because of the popularity of the game to collectors and the cost of the Neo Geo version. The promotional page from DotEmu shows Windjammers launching at $14.99. http://www.dotemu.com/PressKit/sheet.php?p=Games/Windjammers

Aside from this post which was just because of a reply, I've actually stopped complaining about them though as I've realized, why waste time complaining about something that's never going to change. I'll just continue buying what I'm interested in and skip what I'm not. I'll make comments about the ones I'm not interested in, like the River City games being crap in my opinion and passing on Double Dragon 4 for it just looking like a really bad fan made game with tons of technical issues, but won't be complaining about LRG any longer.

Aussie2B
12-03-2017, 11:12 PM
No, I never said that in response you to complaining about variants or anything along those lines. In fact, I don't recall you ever complaining about such a thing in this topic. What you complain about is specific releases, of games you personally think suck and thus shouldn't be released by LRG. That's apples and oranges. I would never say that LRG shouldn't release any of the games they're releasing because I know that, even if I don't want one, and even if I think it's a bad game, a lot of other people do like it and do want the opportunity to buy it physically. Virtually no one wants variants. In fact, gamers are happier when they don't exist. You just buy the one version and you're done. You don't feel like you missed out on anything (your preferred cover), you don't feel obligated to buy multiple copies, or any of the other negative feelings associated with variants. I can pass on them, sure, but that does nothing to help the availability of these games when they sell out even faster because more people are double/triple/etc. dipping just to have every variant, among other issues.

As for the pricing, it's not a matter of popularity. Unfortunately, LRG lied to us when they said they wouldn't be passing the ESRB costs to the consumer. With Windjammers, it was a combination of the ESRB costs + there were more companies involved in the release than most from LRG, so more dividing of the pie. Super GunWorld 2 was also more than $10 above its PSN price. In that case, they said it was the ESRB costs + the low print run size. They've said that every release with a print run that small will have to be more than the usual +$10 to be financially viable. Of course they could solve this by just making bigger print run sizes. I didn't pay close attention, but from what I understand, Super GunWorld 2 sold out quickly. There is no rhyme nor reason to go backwards and return to these tiny print run sizes. I don't know if it's the developer being stupidly cautious or what. Claire had too small of a run too, in my opinion.

megasdkirby
12-06-2017, 05:58 AM
Not only small print runs, but the asinine "two copies per customer", EVEN on LE/CE copies! Just take a look at the limited editions of DD4 and Rivercity...1,900 copies and TWO per customer. LRG should only allow, at first, one copy per customer. If the game does not sell in 24 hours, then remove the limitation. As it stands, basically 800 people have a shot at the LE version, as many will purchase two to scalp the second copy.

Aussie2B
12-06-2017, 08:06 AM
It seems to be their response to their CEs selling slower lately. Instead of being like "our standard copies are selling faster because customers are concluding that LRG CEs are overpriced for what they offer and not worth it" and trying to do something about that, they seem to think the solution is to court scalpers and collectors who feel they have to have one CE sealed and one CE open. But I think they're foolish if they believe scalpers can offset the people passing on their CEs because of their mediocre quality, considering, more than ever, LRG games, even the CEs, sell for around the same on eBay as from LRG, sometimes even less.

SteamWorld Dig for Vita, SteamWorld Heist for Vita, and what remains of the PSX cover variant of Nex Machina for PS4 have been put up for sale today.

It's nice to see a return to the basics. Though a double pack like the other physical SteamWorld releases would've been nicer, at least each was only $25, no overpriced CEs, and, hallelujah, they're listening to feedback about all the cover variant insanity. For the first time ever, I believe, a game with a reversible cover from LRG has ALL copies with the same side facing out, so sealed collectors don't feel like they have to order two copies.

Got my La-Mulana EX CE today, and I'm still kinda :/ about the quality of LRG's CEs. Collector's box is pretty nice, even if I'm not crazy about the art, but it's weird that the game's title is only on the top flap. I would expect the title on the front, but even in lieu of that, at least put it on the sides too so that if you shelve it among other LEs, you can tell what the heck it is without having to shelve it flipped on its side in order to have the top flap sticking outward. For some reason, the cheap brown cardboard tray holding everything barely fits the box this time. I really had to yank the thing out of there, and it makes the box bulge outward. The inner trays for the CDs make no bloody sense. The CDs still slide around all over, and if you try to pull the whole CD tray part out, it just dumps the CDs out the bottom. Then a big tray just to hold a little Vita case, and then the usual folded paper poster and an oversized manual which both slide around too. The manual is pretty cool, but I swear, it's got the weirdest gross smell about it. I've never gotten any manual or book in general that smells like that, and I usually like the smell of a new book. Every time I flipped a page, I cringed a little as it wafted the smell back toward me.

I'll try out the game itself another night. Next CE up for my scrutiny, haha, will be Windjammers.

Well my game arrived on the 19th. It's a big box release after all and it was well packed in a sturdy cardboard box so it arrived safe. There's also a download code on a sticker on the side so the latest updated version of the game can be downloaded from GOG, and the box can still be left sealed. I also wasn't expecting that bag of extra goodies to be included. Just awesome. :)

And more cover variant nonsense, which is even more of a cash grab than usual since they flat out admit the "developer edition" exists simply to put more money in the pocket of the developer. All you get for the extra $10 is different art, a slipcover, and an extra trading card. I might care more about supporting the developer if they weren't cranking games out as if they were shovelware, with games that all have the same visual style. I didn't think what I played of Plague Road was that great, and I decided to back out of the SkullPirates Kickstarter campaign since I don't have much faith I'd like that game and the physical copies are Asian versions anyway. I'd be perfectly content if Arcade Distillery went with Eastasiasoft for all future physical releases and then I could easily write them off, since I'm only focused on collecting US Vita releases. Anyway, back to Mecho Tales, with the two per customer, that means, for each platform version, some collectors are going to be buying four copies out of the mere 2500 pool, just so they can get both variants and have an opened and sealed copy of each of those. It's stupid how much harder they're making it just for people to get one single copy. If they want to split print runs into variants and allow two per customer, then they gotta do bigger print runs than 2500. Again, I don't understand why LRG is going backwards by doing prints run comparable in size to their earliest releases.

Well that should help a bit. Specially when I just got an email stating that the games will be released on Jan 1st together with a 2017 Liquidation thing/nonsense.

I find it funny that they say that they no longer had Breach and Clear, yet they will once again offer it as a "Blind Box Special". But it's from their "personal collections". Sure it is.

They added some more upcoming games to the store, and I swear, nothing LRG is doing is making a lick of sense. Now Mecho Tales is listed as a Monday January 1st release, with Rock Boshers DX (PS4 & Vita) and Yesterday Origins (PS4) just four days later on Friday January 5th. It's not like Mecho Tales is a variant of a Special Reserve Games release or anything. Why isn't it on a Friday like usual, what genius thought it would be wise to sell a game on New Year's Day, and why wouldn't these games all be lumped together if they're that close? It's bad enough when they got releases every week, now we can look forward to twice a week? I usually think LRG's shipping fee is pretty reasonable, but not when I have to pay for it two times over in the span of five frickin' days.

I'm skimming the topic on Mecho Tales on the LRG forum, and the reaction is predictably bad, but the whole situation is weird. The LRG guys sound defeated to begin with, as if they expected everybody to be unhappy about the details of this release, and they act as if the developer has them by the balls. I mean, what, is Arcade Distillery threatening to go with Eastasiasoft if LRG refuses to sell the "developer edition"? With the tons of releases LRG has been doing, I would imagine they could pass on this if it's going to primarily result in backlash. Is it really worth it for them?

Why isn't it on a Friday like usual, what genius thought it would be wise to sell a game on New Year's Day, and why wouldn't these games all be lumped together if they're that close? It's bad enough when they got releases every week, now we can look forward to twice a week? I usually think LRG's shipping fee is pretty reasonable, but not when I have to pay for it two times over in the span of five frickin' days.

If they had combined all seven releases on one day, people would have been upset as well. I'm sure even with the bad reviews Mecho Tales will still move and there is a good chance if someone wanted to try for all seven games, they would end up missing something. Frankly, I think they want to bury Mecho Tales and are only releasing it because they had a deal to do so. The developer has already moved on to EAS by the way as they are the ones handling the Skull Pirates release.

I'm frankly amazed no one remembered Luc Bernard's name from Eternity's Child "fame" nearly a decade ago. Didn't he say he was going to quit the industry or something like that?

For the few people still collecting every cover and platform variant of LRG's releases, I'm sure they'd be upset about the number of releases in the first week of January period, unless money is no concern for them. Spacing four days between them doesn't do much to help alleviate the financial strain. It only adds to it by tacking on another five bucks. They could just make a big bundle to speed up the buying process or just make bigger print runs in the first place so no one has to race for these releases to begin with. I'm just not seeing any worthwhile reason behind this move. It guessing it's either to bury Mecho Tales, draw more people to the liquidation sale, or the developer is being arrogant like with Jotun and insisting on having a day with no other new releases.

Any developer with unreasonable requests should be dumped by LRG. The developer should be happy that their game is both getting a physical release AND that they are getting more money. I know LRG wants to be very profitable, but sometimes the problems and stress are not worth it.

In fairness, it's a developer a lot of people think is a scammer and the game is pretty terrible. I suspect a lot of people will be skipping it.
So it'll be a rarer release that could be worth more later on, similar to Action 52. lol

They added some more upcoming games to the store, and I swear, nothing LRG is doing is making a lick of sense.

So I need to concentrate on FIVE titles that week? What bullshit is that? I'm seriously getting tired of LRG.
So why are you guys still buying so many games from them then? Really just curious at this point. I only bought the one I did because it's something I've really been looking forward to playing and reviews are all excellent (in particular a main review site that specializes with this genre gave it a rare 5 out of 5 and I usually agree with their reviews). I rarely pay more than $5 total for any game I want to play so this was unusual for me.

I guess I just dislike the sales strategy of marketing games like limited collector plates. The value on those tanked to near worthless, I expect the same to happen to these video games a few years from now. Modern games as a whole just feel disposable to me.

I wouldn't say I'm buying a ton from LRG these days. December was pretty packed with four I bought, but I only bought one LRG release in November, and none in September and October. I've been progressively slimming down what I buy from them. Originally, I bought one of every game, including the platform variants. Then I decided to only get the Vita versions when a game is multiplatform and only buy the PS4 games that weren't also available on Vita. Then I decided to cut out the PS4 games entirely, only making an exception if it's something I really want (and in the half year or so since making that decision, I've only made one exception). And just recently, I decided to pass on collecting all the Vita cover variants, instead only choosing one to buy. (I'll probably gravitate toward whatever is rarer or has a CE, but I dunno. Mecho Tales makes it tempting to say to hell with the rarer version.)

It's my casual collecting toward a full US Vita library that has me buying a copy of every Vita release LRG does. I dunno if I'll ever actually finish the set, but it seems like a fairly attainable goal for me, and I'm enjoying the collecting in the meantime and playing all these different kinds of games. There are 230-some physical US releases right now, and I have over half already. I don't think there's a lot of life left in the system either, so I think it's going to stay a relatively small set. Between that and the fact that it's a niche system with niche games, I think it'll be seen as a pretty collectible system in the future, and I think a lot of the games will hold value pretty well. Personally, I just love the system and love adding to my collection for it, since it's not getting massive amounts of releases like all the popular platforms. I feel like this'll probably be my last collecting hurrah for a modern platform. Modern gaming, especially modern home console gaming, is more and more going in a direction that isn't very appealing to me, on top of going in the direction of an all-digital future, and dedicated gaming handhelds, which are what I've enjoyed most these last two generations because they've offered gaming experiences comparable to 90s and 00s gaming, seem to be a dying breed and may not exist past this generation, outside of hybrids like the Switch.

I wanted to collect every release, but thanks to Maria, I lost quite a few of them. I did, however, refuse to purchase on getting, that being Lawbreakers. No offline mode, not worth it.

I may do what Aussie is doing...just get Vita releases. Thankfully, I'm not a variant collector so I don't get several copies of a game just to have different inserts. But I always tried to get CEs when possible and at least a PS4 and Vita release. Meco Tales, I will forgo the CE version, as it just a lame excuse for the developers to get more money. And I'm only gonna TRY for the Vita release. If I miss it, oh well, I have the digital version...and while not terrible, it does suck quite hard.

Limited Run Games is releasing Senko no Rondo 2.

The first time I've seen this gameplay style was in Touhou Gensou Rondo Bullet Ballet and while I was really interested in the gameplay style, I was never interested because I didn't like the games presentation. So right now is the first time I've seen a game in the Senko no Rondo series and the presentation looks a lot better imo, bullet and attack graphics don't look so repetitious, characters look different, not generic anime girl shooting at generic anime girl, etc. I was always really interested in the versus aspect though because it adds a completely new dimension to the genre, like Furi but boss versus boss instead. Definitely picking this one up.

Yep, even though it kinda makes me feel like a sucker, I grabbed the Vita developer edition. I'll take solace in that I don't think LRG will be working with Arcade Distillery anymore, and hopefully that'll be the end of "developer editions" too.

I completely ignored the whole blowout sale. I hate their backwards logic of doing Mecho Tales today so people can "save on shipping". All they're doing there is punishing their regular customers. I've already bought everything I've wanted from their previous sales, so how does this save me on shipping?

I was tempted on getting a blindbox, just for Breach and Clear (only Vita I'm missing), but decided against it. Don't need anymore repeated copies. Also, since when is Breach and Clear "uncommon"? Other titles are rarer?

In this case, they found a box of 30 copies of Breach and Clear. so they were uncommon compared to other less frequently included games in the blind boxes. Also, the Breach and Clear copies they found were Sony promos, so they have the UPC punched.

Today LRG is selling Rock Boshers DX for both PS4 and Vita (plus bundles with a CD soundtrack) and Yesterday Origins for PS4.

I just grabbed a Vita copy of Rock Boshers. It's nice to see another return to the old way of doing things. Just the usual 25 bucks, no cover variant stupidity, and a soundtrack available on CD rather than vinyl and not as a part of an overpriced CE (though it would've been nice to see them sold by themselves, not solely within a bundle). And I have some confidence that Rock Boshers will be fun, which I don't have in Mecho Tales. Though I'm still bitter that I have to pay full, separate shipping for both.

In other news, I think that god awful UPS Mail Innovations, which makes packages take twice as long to travel the relatively short distance between me and LRG, may have lost my copies of SteamWorld. For days now, the tracking on UPS's end has been saying that they handed the package off to USPS, but when I check the tracking number on USPS's end, it says that they're still waiting to receive the package. So lol, good job, guys. I guess I'll wait a few more days to see if it randomly shows up before I start the hassle of contacting LRG support.

Tomorrow is the day for The Bit.Trip (PS4 & Vita) and Screencheat (PS4). I think this'll be the first time since LRG came into existence that I'll pass on one of their new Vita releases. Not because I don't want The Bit.Trip but because of this line in their email: "A special convention exclusive variant will be available for each platform later this year at PAX East." Since I decided to stop supporting all the cover variant nonsense and just buy one version of each Vita game, I'm planning to wait and take a shot at getting that rarer variant, which I assume would have the same price. With any luck, they'll sell that on the same day as something else and spare me from having to pay shipping for this game alone. I already feel like they screwed us on shipping earlier this month, and I don't want to pay shipping two times for the 19th and 26th releases that are only one week apart either. The line about the PAX East variant sounds as if they're ONLY selling it at PAX East, but I assume that's just poor wording on their part. Every other convention variant has later been sold on the site. Worst case scenario, if I fail to get the PAX East variant, I'll pick up The Bit.Trip on eBay. Between The Bit.Trip already having a regular retail physical release on multiple platforms and LRG's Runner 2 often selling for even less on eBay than it did originally, I feel like this one won't have much value on the secondhand market and can safely be put off for a later purchase.

Anyway, I feel like everything with LRG lately has been adding insult to injury. My SteamWorld copies are very obviously lost in the mail, but LRG refuses to do anything about it until it's been 30 days since the last shipping update, so I'm stuck waiting until the end of this month. I was already annoyed about not being able to combine Mecho Tales and Rock Boshers, and then they're shipped one single day apart and arrive on the SAME DAY. So stupid. It's as if LRG wants to create more work for themselves and waste people's money. And on top that, I actually bought that dumb cash-grab "developer's edition" of Mecho Tales, and the one stinkin' thing that's actually different about it from the standard edition, the slipcover, shows up all torn up at the front top right corner. There is no way in hell I'm wasting even more money on Mecho Tales to return the whole thing for a replacement, so I guess I'll see if they can send me just a replacement slipcover or a partial refund. *sighs*

I have a package of LRG well over a month in transit. I really despise UPS Innovations. Yet they continue to use them.

And today is BitTrip and some other crap. I will pass...possibly just get the Vita version with my friends help. I rather concentrate on next week for that shooter game. I just hope I get electricty by then.

I will be skipping today's releases as well. Screen Cheat isn't something I'm interested in, and I will be at Pax East, so I can just hold out for that copy if I decide to get it while I'm there (and hopefully pick up some other good stuff from them). I do like to watch and see how quickly games sell out, even if I am not purchasing. I saw LRG at PAX East last year and spent a good amount of cash at their booth. I'm not sure what they'll end up having this year that I don't already have, but last year I hadn't been buying any of their releases so it was all new games to me.

I personally can't wait for the blind boxes to come in. I bought 5 of them, and I think it'll be fun just seeing what games I get. If I end up with ones I already have, I can just EBay them or leave them sealed and on the shelf because I open and play most of the games I get from them.

Runner is alright actually so I purchased The Bit Trip on 3DS awhile ago. I'm thinking of getting it on PS4 but I can guarantee I won't ever play it, so might just skip it. If I do play it again, it'll only be the 3DS version since by design it's pretty much perfect for that system.

Yeah, I like seeing how their stuff sells even when not buying too. I wish everything would last for at least days, but it is interesting to see what sells faster than others. Like I never would've expected Night Trap to have such demand and sell so quickly.

To correct myself, the slipcover isn't the only thing different about the Mecho Tales developer edition. I forgot that the cover in the case is different from the regular release too. But I don't see a cover variant as something deserving a higher price tag, even if it is rarer, so the slipcover is the only "extra" for that additional 10 bucks (unless you want to count an extra trading card, which I don't). As dumb as it sounds, the extra slipcover was my main motivation in getting the developer edition, but I'm not even gonna attempt to justify it. I will fully say I'm a sucker for buying it, and I thought it was a rip-off cash grab from the get-go. But now I all the more wish I just got the standard edition when the dumb slipcover shows up damaged. I couldn't care less about the whole angle of "supporting the developer in creating their art" when it's a shady developer cranking out games like shovelware. I'd like to open my copy of Mecho Tales and see if the game is as bad as many claim it is, but until I come to some resolution with my support ticket, I'll refrain. I did at least open and try out my Rock Boshers DX, and it was pretty fun.

I grabbed a Vita copy of each.

All my older orders are finally getting straightened out too. Thankfully, LRG agreed to send me a replacement Mecho Tales slipcover without me having to sending the whole thing back (technically, the blue plastic of the case got a little scraped up too, similar to what happened to my PS4 Saturday Morning RPG way back when, but whatever, I don't care enough to waste money on replacing the case), and they were also nice enough to not make me wait the full 30 days before sending out new copies of the SteamWorld games that got lost. So according to the tracking, I should finally receive these replacements today. And my Windjammers LE and Claire were mailed too, so assuming all this stuff arrives safely, my only incomplete order, besides what I just ordered, is Skullgirls and Volume.
