Elevator Action is hard, but I'm having fun! I keep John Woo-ing the enemies (Jump + Shoot at the same time). I finally made it to the 3rd building for the first time in my life tonight.

On 4D Warriors, I'm still confused what I'm supposed to be doing. I go to the top of the screen, and warp to another area. After playing that area, I'll go back to the top of the screen and return to the first area. So my question is, how do I actually beat the level?

Ok, well, I pretty much rocked faces off in 4d. Wow.

Sucks though, I had 4 lives and 160K, but I sucked VERY badly with those lives. Once you figure the game out, this should be a fun time for all.

Seriously though, I'm worried that if there's nothing happening at all during the bye week, it will make coming back the next week extra hard for some people. Please think about it.

When we did Elevator Action for the MAME Club, I ended up scoring 22,200. I'm interested to see how that score stands up against you sharp shooters.

And, like the Q*Bert round, I would have had an unfair advantage with this one as well.

Same thing here. Elevator action is just a bit slow for my tastes. 4D warriors was pretty cool, though.

I pretty much sucked at both games this week. I suppose I could have gotten a little better at Elevator Action...I don't feel like I maxxed out my score, but didn't play enough to really get there...final score around 14,000 or so.

4D Warriors I never could get in a groove with. I kept getting eaten by surprise monsters, and pulled into weird areas I had never seen before...ended with about 25000 or so points.

I approached Flack's score that he mentioned, but fell just short in Elevator Action. As for 4d warriors, I played one time, got pulled into some (apparently) secret area, and shot these two heads over and over, which made them either happy or sad. It was unusual. I had very little time to play this week, so that's the score I sent in. (Like 67000 though..).

First of all, I find those butts in your avatar disturbing.

I don't know if Gapporin will be posting a game or not, but I'll post one no matter what. I am going to give out some mini-prizes this week just to keep it interesting, but there will be no matchups and the scores will not count towards point-totals. Sound good to everyone?

Alright, I guess I could explain 4d for the intrested.

The point it to flip boards and kill the main monster, basically. As soon as you can, you should switch boards to kill the 'main' monster thing. If you take your time, either two diamond looking things bust out of the wall, two lines come from the back, or a bunch of red dot/hand things appear. The first two will transport you to one of (I think) 3 different areas. One of them has eye volcanos, and a floating eye. To beat that, you must defeat the floating eye. Another, is the one with the heads that you shoot, and they start to drool what looks to be blood. There are also things at the bottom shooting, and two happy/sad things. The way to beat that one is to shoot the small head that comes out of the fountain looking things at the bottom. And the last one I only played once, but you were just traveling down, and a bunch of things came at you from all directions. I couldnt figure this one out, and I died at it. There are 4 'areas' for each round. 1-3 are just basic monsters, but number 4 is the one you beat to go to the next 'round'. So basically, you keep flipping boards (sometimes you cant, due to a thunderhead blocking the path) until you get to the next round.

With my score, I didn't go into any of the other three 'dimensions' sub-levels.

GREAT picks this week. I may have to get a new mouse for Arkanoid though, as mine is still one of the old wooden ones. I never even thought to play Arkanoid on the PC, I always had to drag out the Arkanoid controller for that. And I haven't tried Gauntlet yet, but I never could get it to work. here's hoping.

@Chris- Just so you know, it's Duchess, not "Princes." My wife's name is actually Sarah Ferguson, but luckily, not too many people pick up on it.

Again they were based on submission order. I know that some of you don't like this, but nobody is challenging anybody anymore, and no one has found me a program to do the scheduling. The only programs I can find cost money. Generally quite a bit of money.

NE146, QOF, and Tripppsk played in a three way matchup because we now have an odd number of players. It sounds weird but trust me it works just fine.

I'll make it 750 meseta for whoever finds me a scheduling program that works and is free.

Damn, I have the absolute worst luck when it comes to matchups. Last week I got matched with Soulblazer, and this week I got Dr. Morbis. I hope next week is better for me. Another one of my favorite Capcom shooters -- Gun.Smoke!

Another game I owned and mastered on the NES and still play to this day.

I will promtly take down the entire enemy force with my cowboy and rack up another great score like with 1943. :evil:

I thought that they would continue on, but I played through the first one, and got a big 'ol game over sign. Then, I played the first like 5 levels of the hardest one, and got a higher score. So, what is it?

Wait wait wait, ok slight clarification...Gapp, you said play Expert or whatever the hardest mode is...well, there is an expert course (hard mode), and then there is the Special Course (aka Very Hard Mode) I would like a little clarification as to which one is to be played. I assume the Special Course based on previous wording. Thanks :)

Wow, I take back what I said eariler about Gun.Smoke. It seems I got a LITTLE carried away and now have to crawl back with my tail between my legs. ;)

I've never played the arcade version, but the game has been a long time favorite of mine on the NES. I never knew how DIFFERENT the game is in the arcade form. It's REALLY a different game.

It's a LOT harder, to start with. Several more stages. Crappy generic music, not the good tunes the NES version had. No shopkeapers to buy powerfull weapons from. Harder bosses. No need to get a wanted poster in order to get to the boss. No bonus items. A third button to shoot in the center. Etc.

I like the idea of the third button to shoot in the center and the extra stages, but everything else stinks. I've only gotten to the end of Stage 2 so far and around 70k points. Yeah, this one is going to take A LOT of pratice. x_x

The other game -- never heard of it, but quite fun! Reminds me of Mercury for the PSP. This one is much easier to use the arrow keys on the keyboard for to control. So far I've gotten to Stage 4 and around 50k in points.

As with the NES version of Gun.Smoke, you just need to get into the rhythm of the arcade version. The button setup is what caused me to design the button layout on my MAME cocktail control panels they way they are...

For the record, I'm able to get about halfway through level 2, and that is pushing my ability on this game.

I'm with you, but I have played the NES version. This is going to be a very lopsided week for me, as I am pretty good at Cameltry. Plus, this is the first week that I've been playing the games every day. I don't know why that is, I guess I really enjoy the picks this week, despite Gun.Smoke kicking my ass every two minutes. I need some assistance on Gun.Smoke if you please. What are the default button setups? I changed mine too fast I think. I keep getting rifles, but I don't know how to use them or access them. I would like to finish at least level 1. Any help is appreciated, thank you. :)

Default buttons are Ctrl - shoot left, alt- shoot center, space- shoot right.

I switched mine to RTY, felt more comfortable to me :)

I dont think you CAN use those rifles and the such, they are just points you can pick up. But dont hold me to that.

Getting kinda better at Gunsmoke.. At first, I could barely get anwhere in the first level, now I've made it to the 2nd boss.

I can make it about halfway through the second level in Gunsmoke, and I think to level 5 in Cameltry. I don't think I did that bad in either of them this week, and they're both excellent games! Now to track down the SNES version of Cameltry...

I sent in my scores last night. I don't expect to have enough energy to breathe after work tonight, so an early week for me.

Gunsmoke - I got that one game where I made it half / 3/4 way through level 2. I never saw level 2 again. Score ended up in the mid 50k range.

Cameltry - I really dug this game. I had a lot of trouble with level 3 on the Special Course, but if I could get past that level, then I made it to level 7 every time. I made it to level 8 twice, and level 9 (aka The Devil's A**hole) once. Score around 160k.

I hope for a split this week. :)
