Castlevania Aria of Sorrow in an hour and seven minutes. I was filling a bit of the map in the early parts but then when I got double jump, skipped to the Floating Garden then Clocktower and then only went along the path to finish the game. Didn't get the real ending either. Only killed Graham to get the neutral ending.

3/26 - Eternal Sonata (PS3) (time = 33:38'58'') Probably one of the most visually pleasing games I have ever laid my eyes on. I can't wait til hardcore RPG developers like Atlus, NIS, Namco, etc. start bringing their RPGs to the PS3. Sonata was an excellent game start to finish. Only downside is the main storyline is a bit cliche; but no worries the underlying storyline offered so much more to this game!

DonDonPachi. Hard game. I atleast got past the first stage without dying. Probably continued about 7-10 times to beat the game though. Would have continued less if I used more missles, but alot of the times I died with 3+ missles left.

I can't wait til hardcore RPG developers like Atlus, NIS, Namco, etc. start bringing their RPGs to the PS3.
Well, we're getting Cross Edge (http://ps3.kombo.com/article.php?artid=9639) on May 24th. Atelier Rorona (http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1222820_1407.html) has been announced too, though there's no US release date yet. I'm waiting for Atlus to announce Shin Megami Tensei 4, personally. They mentioned it ages ago if I remember correctly, but we've heard nothing since.

Yea I've seen those one. They're been trickling in every so often...Eternal Sonata, Valkyria Chronicles...the two you mentioned are next. Can't wait til NIS and Atlus jump ship and start releasing for the PS3 like they have the PS2.

#13 - Mortal Kombat (Genesis) - I beat single player and defeated Reptile - I pulled that head right off! Despite the crap graphics, I prefer the Genesis version to the SNES one. The presence of blood makes no difference, I just find the combat to be more like the arcade. The SNES version would always let you get away with stupid crap (like beating the enemy doing nothing but foot sweeps), luckily the Genesis version isn't so stupid.

Silent Hill 2: Beat it the other day. It had been lying on my shelf for awhile, and I just needed to defeat the last two bosses. I got the "Leaving" ending. I doubt I'll be playing this one again.

Winter Heat on Arcade
Die Hard Arcade on, well, Arcade

#14 - Sonic CD (Sega CD) - I've beaten it in the past but I did it again tonight. I actually had to play through the game twice. The first time around I got a "game over" during the mecha sonic race in Stardust Speedway 3 and didn't want to have to replay Stardust Speedway levels 1 and 2 so I used a level select to go straight back to the boss battle. This screwed up my save data and I had to replay the whole game! Oh well. I didn't get all the chaos emeralds, I just can't handle those 3D bonus levels. I did, however, play the whole game with the 6 button arcade stick which made it a lot more fun. (Apr 4)

#15 - After Burner Complete (32X) - Not much of an accomplishment because you get infinite continues. I love Afterbuner II and appreciate how near-perfect this version is. Great fun to play with an arcade stick. Whenever I get hit or crash, I like to shake the arcade stick because that's what it did in the arcade. I'll have to track down the Saturn version next.

#16 Metal Slug (Wii - SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1) - I've never beaten it before. Now I have. I'm surprised how short it is. That's okay - I'd rather play a great short game than a mediocre long one. (Apr 4)

Civil War: A Nation Divided

I'm surprised by how low the scores are for this one since I really enjoyed it. I do wish it was longer and the fact that it doesn't have multiplayer does hurt it but the unique gameplay element of having guns that take so long to reload really adds to the enjoyment.

I'd give it 7.5/10

#17 - Chrono Trigger (DS) - I beat it and got the normal ending (ending #1). I finished all the sidequests mentioned by the fellow at the end of time. I didn't bother with the fetch quest one because I hate stuff like that. Plus, I got some prism helmets and the rainbow sword, so I was well equipped already. I'll do the New Game + and check out the extra DS content some time. (Apr 11)

19. Final Fantasy 9 ... Probably one of the most enjoyable Final Fantasy games I've played...
Yeah me too. I love Final Fantasy IX. Like you said, it didn't change a whole lot battle and magic system wise, but it was a nice way to return Final Fantasy to its roots after the futuristic FF VII and just plain crazy FF VIII. I loved the plot line about Vivi having to learn who he is and where he's from - very well done. I didn't really care for the last boss music. It sounded like it should be at a hockey game. Also, I didn't get the last boss at all, it really came out of left field. Still, when all is said and done, I think IX is my favourite.

5. Keith Courage in Alpha Zones - TG16 -- Fun game, but it had some annoying parts, and got a bit old by the end... the final boss was a pain, particularly with how when you die you start the entire level over again. I finally gave up and used the cheap trick that makes the final boss not fight back... if you could continue from right before the bossfight I'd have beaten it normally I think, but having to do the whole level over every time was just too annoying. Still, a decent game overall.

6. The Legend of Zelda - Phantom Hourglass - Nintendo DS -- I stopped right near the end sometime mid last year... finally got around to finishing. Really awful story, but fun gameplay... overall a good game, but much too easy most of the time... apart from a few very frustrating segments in the central dungeon. So yeah, some questionable difficulty balance. And there is also that completely stupid story... oh well, overall I liked it, for the most part.

4/12 - Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Grimoire of the Rift (DS) (time = about 83 hours!)
Played this game for much longer than I was comfortable with. Almost started to become a chore with the endless barrage of side questing. The story was cliche and nearly nonexistent as well. Although this one atleast kept my attention until I beat it where the first installment failed to do that. I completed around 190 of the 300+ quests available! this game is easily over 100 hours long to accomplish everything. Near the end I only did the side quests that granted items I didn't have for making gear. Despite all my complaints beware of the vicious addictive cycle within it. Do some quests, get some materials + learn new skills, create new weapons, equip new gear for a new skill, quest again...blah, blah, blah. It was honestly the only thing that kept me going for as long as I did.

Just finished Final Fantasy VI on GBA! I finished the main story a while ago, but only recently completed the Dragon's Den and Soul Shrine.

I'm not going to add this to my list as I've already beaten Crono Trigger, but I beat Lavos today just using Crono and Marle at the very beginning of the game. I got the developer room ending. :)

With two fighters at Level 42, I didn't need the Masamune.

So far April is treating me pretty well, I finished off my second game of the month yesterday.

I beat Superman Returns for the 360. Or at least I beat it as much as I'm ever going to. I'm sitting at 95% and there is no way I'm going to search for 197 more kittens and do the ungodly amount of random battles needed to hit 100%.

I thought the game wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either. It was really short, clocking in at around 5 hours. I wish that they had done more with superman's flight, you can't even do a loop. Also the camera when fighting was hard to control and you can't even attack guys on the ground.

Overall I'd give it a 5 out of 10. If it had been longer I would have given it a 6 but since it's over so fast and incredibly average it gets a 5.

Just finished up The Godfather II (360) last night. I managed to get 1000/1000 achievement points (most people will get 800-900 points just playing through the game). My total playtime ended up coming in just under 18 hours.

This game is taking a lot of heat in the gaming press, getting mediocre review scores. After doing just about everything you can do in the game, my opinion is that most of the criticism is unfounded. It still surprises me how many reviews obviously don't bother finishing the games they review. Godfather II isn't the best example of its genre, but it's still pretty damn good. Worth picking up when the price drops.

Once you hack the wonky fuck controls, this is actually a very simple game. Honestly, just getting to the credits and a 'Thank you for playing' takes around 20 minutes.

ANYWAY.

I remember reading when Sonic R was new that the main complaint was about how the game was hard on the eyes. Honestly, I feel that the game has aged rather well and has a nice charm about it. Then again, I'm not a graphic whore by nature.

WooHoo, I just beat my second game of the year (and second in four days) tonight:

1) Peggle Dual Shot (DS) - both Orignal and Nights modes
2) Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS) - I still need to track down three hidden puzzles plus finish another one (stupid message in the chocolate) and then complete the bonus puzzles. So, currently at 116 of the original 120 puzzle solved.

7. GunForce: Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island (SNES) -- I've beaten the rom, but not the actual cart, because of the credit limit (you only get three continues). Well, now I have, and I didn't even need the last credit... It's a fairly short and easy game, with just five moderate length levels with not mostly easy bosses, but even so, I really like the game. It's just fun... I'm very happy to have beaten the SNES cart now.

8. StarTropics (NES) -- Yeah, I finally did it! Wow... awesome, AWESOME game! Very highly recommended! Great, long ending, too... this is very far from a "Congraturation" ending, that's for sure. The final level and boss was pretty cool... challenging, but not too hard. The final boss was kind of a pain because he'd kill you instantly if he touched you (though his shots just did normal damage), but if you were prepared properly (with all the items from the stage) and stay away from him, he'll go down. This has got to be one of the best games I have for the NES... just a great, great game from beginning to end. It took me a while to finish (got it last summer, and I've been playing it off and on ever since), but it's oh so worth it... it's challenging for sure, but not overly cruel, random, or confusing. You're always in an area of limited size, so you know that the thing you have to do will be somewhere nearby. Sometimes there are random things like having to figure out which identical mountain tiles you can walk into, but most of the time those things are marked, with slightly different tiles for instance. Dungeons are very well designed and interesting. The tile system works well, and the game is technical and requires precision, but is always fun. I would highly recommend using a turbo controller of some kind, though! You have to press jump every time when crossing those tile fields, and that's kind of a pain when you can't just turn on the turbo for that... it's also a huge help for attacking quickly. I had turbo on for both buttons on my Advantage the whole time I was playing, that's for sure.

Anyway, awesome game, very fun, lots of challenge, but doable, has saving... for a NES game, it couldn't be much better, really. :)
