Well I know that i'm slowly slowly slowly working on the PS2 listings (at least for myself and maybe later for this site??? I dont know yet, we'll see wherer things go later). At the moment, im just basing the list off of my aquired games so its only about 300 titles big.

If theres things that you need to know about, you can post em here, as I'm pretty ontop of the PS2 stuff. Most of the demo's arnt worth but a buck or two, and thats sealed.

I don't know of any threads like that yet. There's really no sense talking about rarity on PS2 games this early in the game - we're still only just getting a handle on PS1 rarity!

Perhaps you missunderstood me....i said and meant ...a thread that is KEEPING TRACK of the so far released Titles/Demos....just what's out there...not rare or anything like that

Man, I was at my local Best Buy last night and forgot to check if FIFA 2005 was there. It's likely it was.

I've also seen a good amount of Madden 2005 at... well, I can't remember whether it was Target or Best Buy. Probably both.

I'm going to have to do an "all Playstation day" where I play nothing but PSX titles soon, in honor of the final release.

FIFA 2005 was released this week over here too, we have 25 copies at our store, but, it's not the last PS release over here :o

there's ONE other game scheduled for this year:

Yeti Sports World Tour Part 1 - November 24th 2004

maybe even more next year, i couldn't check that in our db as (almost) no 2005 games have been added yet

if anyone wants to give a PAL Playstation list a shot, here's a list of ALL PSOne games the Media Markt Europe (biggest electronic chain over here) ever sold (some of these were not sold after all and cancelled, it's hard to tell which ones, sorry)

I noticed the Yeti Sports games, too. Yeti Sports Deluxe should've been released 10th of September but I haven't seen it anywhere yet. I wonder what Part 1 consists of, I think there's seven "parts" available online as of now.

I hope they come up with *something* to take FIFA off the bright spot.

@david

yeah, i can't remember seeing the other Yeti game(s) anywhere yet, we didn't carry them (we had all those horrible Hugo games though LOL ), if someone wants one of those Yeti games i could order them any time, but you'd have to pay me in advance through paypal ;)

oh btw, a lot of the titles in "my" list that are in there twice are re-releases by AK Tronic.... the three games coming out before that Yeti game in november are also AK Tronic re-releases... gotta grab Striker 1945 II before they re-release it at 15 bucks, it's 10 right now...

davidleeroth
10-17-2004, 04:42 AM
Do the AK Tronic releases differ from the original releases in any way?

Oh, and does 1.1.1901 mean there's was no specific release date given before the game actually hit the shelves?

hydr0x

Do the AK Tronic releases differ from the original releases in any way?

i'm not an PS expert at all (actually i do only own a dozen ps games), but i would say: no, i would need one of the games that were re-released in it's original release form though to confirm that, i do not own any re-released games nor any AK Tronic re-releases

Oh, and does 1.1.1901 mean there's was no specific release date given before the game actually hit the shelves?

ah, yeah, the release dates ;)

1) afaik the db system MM uses was changed somewhere in 1996, so anything released before that date (check the first real date) has the 1.1.1901 date, that's a pitty when it comes to ps games, i know :(

2) release dates are not accurate all the time, the MM db has the following problem: as soon as a release date is added to the db it's not possible to change it after that, so basically and of those dates are the dates were a release SHOULD have happened, postponed games have wrong release dates :( almost all the later games should be correct though as the late ps games usually didn't get postponed

Hey Joe,

Me and Stu worked out a schedule/sort of jobs list how each of us will work on the list. I'm waiting for my DP Guide: Advance before I start anything because it's too hard for me to keep track in the excel what needs to be done. For some reason I can't focus with all the excel gibberish.

I already have about 6 or 7 variant additions just from prior glancing at the guide at chi-town classic.

Oh..the plans we have...

3 updates in a month's time, I feel whiplash. LOL

First set of updates sent to PapaStu for the online DP guide, 2nd update gets the DB treatment starting tomorrow.

Making some progress, finally.

First, the start of hopefully what will be weekly-ish updates, in alphabetical order:
http://www.game-rave.com/psx/playstation_perfect_guide/releasedgames/index.html
FIrst up, the Bond games.

Secondly, I am currently working on, and may have taken in a step in cracking the PSRM number theory across the whole PSX Library, rather then just to the WD variants Stu and I have been working on.

The entire first run was mislabeled. I don't know if a second run was made, as I've never seen cooreclty labeled discs myself.

I believe the correction was never fixed, as Strider only had one print run. I recall getting that to review at GameShark, making the comment about the discs in my review, and then watching over the next two months as the game just faded away.

In fact, at least locally, I have yet to see that game again.

Triple Play 97,98,99,2000
Tetris Plus
Sports Superbike 2
Viva Soccer

That's everything for the list once these are in. I *beg* for your help :-). Steve and Jason (and anyone else who wants one): I'll IM a copy over once I have these, as that will complete everything I plan on doing for the list.

Btw: Late December, I have some really cool PSX pics coming in - I'll show ya those when I get them.

The other day I was pleased to find Strikers 1945 at my local Gamestop. It was $12.99 which seemed like a lot but with the 10% discount and B2G1 free sale it was definitely worth it. When I got home I decided to check DP's rating and it said $6 / R3. That can't be right. I've spent a lot of time scouring Gamestop bins and this is the first time I've seen it. Just to make sure I wasn't mad I checked eBay and though there were several copies, the only one that sold for less than $20 was a BB stickered disc only and it was still a $9 BIN. Anyway, I know it's only 1 game out of 1200+ but it would be nice to see that fixed. Thanks!

At some point I noticed that one as well, I dont remember if it was in here or in one of my earlier GameFAQ's threads (which is long gone now). As Far as ive seen, ALL the copies of the game have the error in it, so in a sense does that make is as much of a printing error since it was a copy thing that was never corrected, or just a cool little piece of trivia (which is what it is more so IMO)

This is according to AllGame.com (http://www.allgame.com):

Triple Play 97, 98, 99, 2000 - EA Sports
Tetris Plus - Jaleco Ltd.
Sports Superbike 2 - Mere Mortals
Viva Soccer - Virgin Interactive Entertainment

Thanks nildem. I occasionally use allgame.com to triple-check info, but I won't put anything on my list unless it's verified first-hand (i.e., from the developer's own website or someone has looked at the game credits). As an example, Virgin didn't develop Viva Soccer - Crimson did, as someone noted above.

12-06-2004, 06:30 AM
Thanks man. Are you sure about the Sports Superbike 2? I'm 99% sure that Mud Duck doesn't have an in-house development team.

The PAL version has Mud Duck listed as the developer (published by Midas). I can check it over again in the local supermarket if they still have a copy. Midas has listed development work under Mere Mortals too so it would sound strange (although entirely possible) that they didn't do that in this case.
I didn't see it listed on the Mere Mortals website either.

kevincure
12-06-2004, 10:39 AM
Mud Duck is a US publisher similar to Midas that also doesn't develop games. Dangerboy threw a US copy in yesterday and it said "Midas Interactive presents a Mere Mortals production," so I suppose Mere Mortals must be it. I noticed too that MM doesn't list the title on their site, but perhaps this is because it was an early budget title of theirs? I tell you, figuring out the developer is not as easy as it might first appear.

In any case, the developer list is now complete. Thanks everyone for the help.

DP: I know, im cracking on it. Promise. Getting a decent enough amount done to make it a worth while update.

@ kevin
I havnt seen anything new on it. It was possibly a latin edition of the game (as was previously speculated) or a made for the southwest (or high spanish population area like Chicago) kinda thing. We didnt know about the Kartia till very recently, we thought it was a print error at first. The PSRM was the give away.

kevincure

If it helps the research, the copy of Rumbo that I own was found in the wild in Oregon - it may have been bruoght up from Latin America (there are a number of seasonal farmers in the OR from Mexico) but I'd say the US SW release is more likely.

As far as game rave is concerned, not bothering with them. Tracking down variants and other crap is mind numbing enough.

The Grey was japan only. We're focusing GR on US side only. I don't recall the Sony engineer mentioning a PSone model. I beleieve the Green took care of that. Have pics?

We know about the Anniversary system. Waiting to get our hands on one.

kevincure

The PSone debug was used in the US, as far as I know, but I think you might consider it a proto. As far as I know, there were less than 5 of them made. DB is right about the grey debug being Japan only. As far as I know, the LS PSX was exactly the same as an Off-the-shelf model, no special numbers of anything, but it might be worth checking out.

If someone wanted to list known protos, that would be great. There are literally 100s of PSX protos for unreleased games, many of them complete (i.e. Superman).

All four were sent to US journalists. I have one of each. The grey psx is the first model with the av jacks. I think anyone to review ps1 in the long box era got these. The PSone is the hardest to find no doubt but there had to be more than 5.

The lightspan ps1 had some kind of sticker on it. I'll have to see if I can dig that out. Thats here in this mess somewhere.

Ive got all 3 US model Debugs thus far seen commonly blue H1001(AC),blue H1101(DC) and green H1201(AC). I'm pretty sure that ther are Alternate power supplied Debugs to the ones that I have, just i'm not currently hunting them(I've got one of each, i dont need to variant hunt these too). I thought that the early Grey Debugs were just Japanese units brought over here, though I could be wrong.
I lost the 10 Mil unit to you in that lovely auction back in August. ^_^ Kevin has the only other one thats shown up on eBay since yours. More will pop out of the woodwork eventually.
While were at it, lets not forget the US Net Yaroze, which I know DB and I have.

I know that at least to me the Proto's are a very hard call simply because unless they are on official discs, how do we know their validity (since ROMs like to float around on the net). I've personally got about 25 beta/proto/review copies of games, most of which have documentation and/or are on official media and since the person I got them from got them directly from source and the uniformity of things follows itself, i'm inclined to believe the legitmacy of them. Other ones are a little harder to prove simply because we can just toss these into the computer and poof, instant proto, so anything found on ebay and the like im much more leery of, though things do come up in time. They always do.

In case anyone cares..... The bane that i've spent a year upon (well close to it as it was this month) has finally been answered, however the disc art is still illuding me like no ones business (So if you have this and are willing to part with this PLEEEEEEEASE PM me). But it is nice to know that it does exist.

The 'missing' disc art is the one directly under the cover-art picture.

In case anyone is counting that makes 9 disc arts, and 6 rear inserts (the other inserts showing are the back of the manual and behind the front insert) for Alundra, not the 9 that was originally expected. I guess they ran out of stuff to make rear inserts into.

The PS list has also had a major overhaul with the prices and some raritys (as well as some more descriptions added). I just need to get it off my PDA and updated onto the main copy on my computer and the update will be sent in ASAP. If I cant get it to update right, I'll have to manually retype it all and that might take another day or two, but expect a Online site update by the end of this week.

Figured I'd chime in here too.

Besides the Game-rave update here:
http://www.game-rave.com/psx/index.html

I've been working with Stu (well, I'd call it work, others would call it crawling at a slow pace) of going game by game with the DP guide as I update Game Rave. We've already corrected several description and SLUS/SCUS errors, and other minor little things.

It's slow going, but it going.
