According to the online rarity guide my two rarest are Mermaids of Atlantis(NES) and Punky Skunk(PS1) though Punky Skunk cannot really be counted because it is only the disc. I hope to fix this problem very soon.

I had the box for Flintstones: Suprise At Dinosaur Peak. The rarity guide gives the game an R7. I`m sure the box is much rarer.

Mario's Bombs Away (G&W) (R7)
Sega JVC X'Eye (R4)

The X'Eye is hard to find. I only know a few other people who own one. My uncle gave it to me a year back with a load of CD and Genises games.

From a rarity number standpoint it would probably be Double Dragon for Sega Genesis, which I have never had any trouble finding for under $10, regardless of what the DP Guide says. From a dollar value standpoint, it would either be Super Mario RPG for SNES or Alien vs Predator for Atari Jaguar. Not a very sexy reply but it is what it is.

Apparently its a tie between Action 52(Genesis), and Spot Goes to Hollywood(PS1). Followed up by SMS 3-d Glasses and Chew Man Fu(TG-16).

Titan A E demo for PS1, still sealed... DP rarity 8. IF it gets here a CEDCO/Fox poster for the game which says it's available for Playstation console. No idea on the poster rarity, just thought it would be neat to go with the demo. The prototype for this unreleased game, of which I'll probably never see any, nevermind this particular one, is R10 of course.

Great site, cool thread!

I'm not sure if I shall post my RAREST or my most EXPENSIVE item. I think Radiant Silvergun is everything but rare, its just expensive because of its hype.

I will just post some of the games you won't find everywhere everytime:

Bomber Hehhe! (Dreamcast)
Samba de Amigo PAL Boxset (The actual game is factory sealed, which makes the "rare-aspect" here :P)
PC Engine Duo in mint condition (near perfect box, perfect interior)
Game Basic for SEGA Saturn
SEGA Saturn PAL System (condition just as new. Has only been taken out of the box once)
New Beatmania Dadada Boxset (ps2/jp; I believe its pretty common in Japan, but in germany or ebay in general, its hard to find because I ask you: who actually wants to BUY a stepmania game? :D )

My rarest item (according to the guide) is Mortal Kombat II (JP) for Playstation (R8). I also have Gaia Seed, which is more valuable but of currently unknown rarity, although I suspect it should also be R8.

Sure. I actually don't know for sure myself, but there are folks here on the board who will tell you that this game saw a release of about 2000 games. I guess Sega Sports decided to suspend GameCube production in the middle of the press run of this game (or something like that). So, very few of these were actually made. Aside from Pokemon Box, it is probably the rarest GCN game (in terms of actual numbers). And, aside from demo discs. Anyways, I think it is gonna end up being hard to get for the GCN as time goes on. We do have some threads about it somewhere which probably have better info, if you do a search. I'm just relaying all of this from memory. I just put it in there cause I'm assuming it is my rarest GCN title. It also gets pretty good $$ on ebay.

My rarest would have to be either Chotetsu Brinkinger (R8) on the NGCD or the Ogre Battle LE Box (R8) NGPC. Got quite a few R7s, I believe....

My rarest item (according to the guide) is Mortal Kombat II (JP) for Playstation (R8).

Me too :)
Being an MK collector it is the hidden "center piece" of my collection. I need to get a way to display it properly.

As for that Yu-Gi-Oh game being an R8 that might be because of the cards it contained.

I know way back when the cards were worth like 30 bucks a pop alone. My bro sold them at school after consulting a Beckett guide i believe.
Not bad since he got the game for 10$s at blockbuster :)

According to the guide, Percepts for my Odyssey is my rarest game. However, my most valuable game is probably Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Percepts - Odyssey: 8 (I disagree, most O^1 systems on eBay come with this.)
Alien Raiders - Microvision: 7 (Maybe a 7, maybe a 6.)
Sea Duel - Microvision: 7 (More like a 5.)
Super Block Buster - Microvision German Import - 7 (More like an 8)
Panzer Dragoon Saga - Saturn - 6

Nothing that impressive, but I've got two R7's:

Zero The Kamikaze Squirrel (SNES, cart only)
Joshua & The Battle of Jericho (Genesis, cart only)

I had a cart Fun N' Games on the SNES (R8) for a short time in early 2004, but I got an offer I couldn't refuse and traded it off.

EDIT (1/19/08) - I now own a third R7: Hurricanes for the SNES (cart only).

R9 Dynastic Hero - Turbo Duo

too many R7's to post.

Ha ha. I actually have a very nice offer on it. But as of today I now own a copy of Earthbound Zero for NES.
:D
It is a complete version of the game in English, not just a translation like the ROM's online. The version I have is a copy of the original cartridge, not a dump from the internet. It has a professionally printed label and an official Nintendo dust sleeve.

Great thread.

I can't choose one, so I'll list my guesses:

VS Castlevania complete conversion kit
Playchoice 10 Castlevania daughterboard
Castlevania (Amiga)
Castlevania Lament of Innocence: Special Edition(not to be confused with Limited Edition)
Haunted Castle (arcade)
Akumajo Dracula (arcade, japanese haunted castle)
Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight official hat and jacket

Less rare items include Vampire Killer Megadrive, Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, etc, but these items despite their high cost, are far more pedestrian rarity wise than the listed items.

Lets see mine would probably be my starfox super weekend cart with high score card that came with it when ordered through nintendo power.

other items that don't really have a rarity rating that I would consider fairly rare would be all my blockbuster world game championship swag (bag, shirt, game promo items, hats and so on) from when I went to the national competition after winning my state's competition. A nintendo store display that lists all the things they won't put in their games (like blood, sex, etc.), this was from the mortal kombat era when nintendo was trying to keep a clean image. A sega genesis Street Fighter 2 Championship banner promoting the game coming out on genesis.
