Oh, i nearly forgot the NES Tetris games! Tengen had a copy that was on the shelves for a short while, til Nintendo sued or whatever and replaced all Tengen's copies with Nintendo's, I think Tengens are much more valuable

It would have to be my Shining Force Premium Disc, though its rarity is unrated here I'd say it'd be a R4 or R5.

Most likely the Starfox Weekend cart. I just don't see why I paid $150 for a 5 minute demo, though... haha

Value wise it's probably my SNES Earthbound cart. I got it 10 years ago for $10-15 dollars.

Rarity wise I don't have anything super rare. Do have two uncommon titles (Inspector Gadget and Clayfighter Tournament Edition for the SNES.)

My highest rarities discovered in my collection so far are a few 7's on the rarity scale. I have a CIB Sea Duel game for Microvision, a CIB Bignose Freaks Out game for NES, and I just bought a loose Aladdin Deck Enhancer and a loose Dizzy the Adventurer game for it off ebay for $40 after shipping (exactly the price the online rarity guide says you should spend on it)

And we all know it is hard to find games on ebay for or under that specified price most of the time. I will just be happy to try something new for my NES.

EDIT:

Oh my Gunfighter/Moonship Battle game for RCA Studio II is an 8 on the scale, so that's the big one. It's CIB too.

Hmmm, not sure about rarity so much but I'd say my: PC Engine Duo-r, Akumajo x68000 (complete with reg card and extra user disk), and a bunch of pricey DC and PCE SHMUPS

My rare stuff is a statue for Yoshi's island (Yoshi and baby mario) that I won in a work contest through Nintendo (Only 500 were made).

-A top loader NES
-a mint Chrono Trigger (SNES) that I got for $5
-several autographs (castlevania producer, artist for Shin Megami etc)
-Complete Earthbound
-New copy of Suikoden II
-Promotional Final Fantasy VII phone card
-A light box Final Fantasy VII Poster that was a Best Buy display
-Zelda DS

That is all I can think of currently. Funny you think you only have an item or two but then when you think about replacing items the list grows.

My rarest item is probably M.U.L.E For the Atari 400/800 Home computer. Complete with instructions and box. Usually goes for hundreds on eBay. I heard there was under 40000 made. Got it for a dollar with an Atari 800XL, disk drive, cords and about 30 other games. Best deal of my life.

hmm...

i've got a few goodies, but i'm not exactly sure which are the rarest...

Snes:
-I had 2 copies of Draculax, but sold the complete one because i HATE books and boxes(shame on me)
-Mr Nutz (i can't find it anywhere now)
- twinbee rainbow bell (god that was tricky to get)
...i'm sure i have a lot more... i haven't really played snes in a while but i was collecting heavily for about a year)

nes
-gunnac
- galaxy 5000
- star trek the next generation(read somewhere is was hard to find?)
... i don't even know what's rare anymore.. i have so many i can hardly keep up with if i have it or not with shopping these days.

My rarest is LaserActive's 3D Virtual Australia (http://www.neo-geo.com/gallery/collections/vincewy/Pic3.jpg), it's the game at bottom right corner of the pic. In comparison to Neo-Geo games, say a genuine copy of Metal Slug, which was routinely available with insane amount of moola between 1996 and early 2000, I've only seen 3D Virtual Australia twice on Yahoo Japan in the early 2000s.

I don't have a whole lot of really rare stuff. I'm not too hardcore a collector. But here's what I have...

Body Slam Super Pro Wrestling (Intellivision) R7
Diner (Intellivision) R7
Stadium Mud Buggies (Intellivision) R7
A.I.R.C.A.R.S. (Jaguar) R8
Bignose Freaks Out (NES) R7
Quattro Adventure (NES) R7
Iron Soldier III (technically it's the full game with 'demo' written on it) (Nuon) R7
Keio Flying Squadron (SegaCD) R6
Bonk 3 (TurboGrafx-16) R8

Going to update my list by adding:
Shining Force CD (Sega CD) R3 (how is this game considered an R3 in the rarity guide?)
Tanks But No Tanks (Atari 2600) R6
Rescue Terra I (Atari 2600) R7
Zelda - The Wand of Gamelon (Philips CD-i) I don't know the rarity, since this is an internal demonstration 'not for sale' disc.
Waterworld (Virtual Boy) R6 (with the instructions but not boxed, unfortunately)

I think I might be forgetting something else.

EDIT: Now I remember what it was, Guardian for the Atari 2600, an R7.

I have a brand new Super Wildcard DX2 also with a brand new Disc Dual. Just got this a few months ago.

NTSC english translated SNES carts of Star Fox 2 and Secret of Mana 2 (Seiken Densetsu 3)

I have other stuff but I'm most proud of these I guess.

Also as being an old-fart gamer I'm predicting the Joytech monitors that attach to the PS2 slim will be a good item to have. Its the best portable screen for the PS2 and it is already not being produced.

According to DP's rarity guide...

R8
Neo Geo Pocket Platinum Silver Pack (complete)

R7
Neo Driftout (Neo Geo CD)

R6
Metal Slug (Neo Geo CD)
Magical Drop 2 (Neo Geo CD)

Not really that many rare items in my collection.

My most unique thing is a Dave Mira BMX demo (60%) for the Dreamcast. It even has a Playstation controller in the menu which is interesting. It's also on an official GD-disc, not a pirate. (Got it from Acclaim a long time ago when I ran a popular Dreamcast website).

Yeah, maybe a bit. LOL

As for me, I don't know what my rarest item is. I want to say my recently acquired Sega branded Wondermega but that apparently is just an R4. Well, the Victor (JVC) model is an R4. The Sega model doesn't even have a rating so I can't compare it to anything. Though I've read from one or two places there were 5,000 Sega Wondermegas made.

I do have a Mega Man 9 Press Kit and I know only about 1,000 of those exist.

And I have a sealed copy of Lunar: Silver Star Story "Fan Edition" autographed by Victor Ireland as well as a sealed and signed Lunar demo disc.

Other than that I have a few R6s and R7s scattered about but nothing too special.

The X'Eye was effectively a different machine. There were three (though technically two) versions of the Wondermega. The Victor (JVC) model came out first. Then Sega sold the exact same machine but with Sega branding and a few different aesthetic details. This is the version people throw around the 5,000 number for. Later on, Victor designed a less expensive Wondermega by altering the shape and removing a few features. They did add a wireless controller though. That version came to the U.S. as the X'Eye but without the wireless controller and S-Video.

Yeah, I know it was the Sega CDX that Sega made. But I always though the Wondermega just came to US renamed as X'Eye and made by JVC. Guess I was wrong.

TonyTheTiger
05-09-2009, 06:14 PM
As far as I can tell, there were 10,000 JVC X'Eyes produced for the U.S. market. I'm going to assume there were also about 10,000 Wondermega M2s (the Japanese equivalent of the X'Eye), about 5000 Sega branded Wondermega M1s (because that's what I read), and about 10,000 Victor branded Wondermega M1s (because I hear they're more common than the Sega model).

These are all assumptions, of course. I've heard the 10,000 number used for the X'Eye and I've heard the 5,000 number used for the Sega Wondermega but I never heard anything about the other two units. So, yeah, if you add all the numbers together you'll have maybe 30,000-45,000 units that fit in the Wondermega family but that number is split between four separate machines.

I have a bunch of stuff that I'd consider to be uncommon, but not really anything 'rare'. The rarest things would have to be my mint copies of Rondo of Blood and Bust-a-Groove 2, and my not-so-mint Caltron 6-in-1. I have black label versions of pretty much every Squaresoft PSX game, but most of those were huge sellers so I wouldn't consider them rare, just really expensive.

I also own an unopened US copy of Limbo of the Lost (PC) -- I don't actually know how rare it is, but all of the copies sold were from one online store, and were sold only a day or two before the plagiarism controversy took the rest of the copies off the shelves. Because it was a low-budget adventure game, the print run couldn't have been that large anyway.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this one.

I've got a Game Action Replay for NES. It goes for about $100 on ebay nowadays whenever it's on there. My copy works great and is in flawless condition except for someone having written their name on it, though that may just come off with some ink remover. I got it for $3 at a pawn shop.

From the top of my head:

NES:
I have several Tengen games. I don't know if all of them are rare or just Tetris:
Gauntlet
Klax
Toobing
RBI Baseball
RBI Baseball 2
Super Sprint
Shinobi
After Burner

SNES:
International SuperStar Soccer Deluxe- complete
International SuperStar Soccer - cart. This one is rare even down here.
Chavez - complete
Chavez II - cart with manual. The box was severely damaged at one point and decided to throw it away. I'm still trying to complete it.
SOS (Septerion) - cart with box. The manual was damaged along with the Chavez II box.
E.V.O. - cart. Got it at a flea market for $2.
Ninja Warriors - cart with box. Got it on eBay for $6+$6 international shipping. It wasn't listed on the SNES subcategory, maybe that's why I was the only bidder.
Zero the kamikaze squirrel - complete
Wild Guns - cart with box. I misplaced the manual when the family moved several years ago and didn't find it again.
Earthbound - complete
Ogre Battle - cart with box. I lost the WHOLE game in the moving. I've been trying to recover it ever since. So far I've bought a cart (for $23, lucky ;)) and the box ($15). I was outbid for the "Who is Who" for a mere cent some weeks ago :,(
Mega Man X3 - complete
Final Fight 3 - complete
Street Fighter Alpha 2 - complete
Nosferatu - complete
Dracula X - cart with box
Ghould Patrol - cart
Terranigma (PAL) - complete. Bought it from a Gamefaqs user.

Genesis:
I just started to collect Genesis stuff some months ago, so I'm pretty ignorant about the rarity, but I've been told that M.U.S.H.A. is kind of rare. I have a cart that cost me $0 since the previous owner told me that it didn't work. It had a cold solder point in the ROM's pin 39.

N64:
Harvest Moon - complete
Ogre Battle 64 - complete
Starcraft 64 - complete

Gamecube:
Skyes of Arcadia Legends - complete
Pikmin - complete
Ikaruga - complete

PS2:
Marvel vs Capcom 2 - complete

PS1:
Tales of Destiny II - complete
Kartia - complete

Any clue what the deal was with that practice of cutting up SNES boxes to fit them into VHS rental cases? I got something similar in an auction I won off eBay, where the box for Justice League was put into a VHS sleeve.

i don't really have any rare items but some are a little more uncommon than others...

i have a CIB NES. my rarest games for that system would have to be contra force and ducktales 2. both worth over 30 bucks each, i believe. i have a bunch in the 15-20 dollar range but i don't think they can really be considered rare, stuff like mega man 1 and a nightmare on elm street.

aside from the slow game play, i actually enjoyed contra force. as a contra title, it's an epic failure. but it's kind of a fun game on it's own.

My rarest game would probably be my pirated copy of Bare Knuckle 3 for the Mega Drive. Bought it years ago thinking it was a legit copy and because of that game it made me learn all I could about pirate hardware/software.
