I hope she doesn't get swamped by messages from nerds in all corners of the Internet about this.

Also, I bet this Michael Anderson has changed his name to avoid further association.

Wow this woman is quick to respond. I'm surprised she responded at all. Well here's what she said about the game.

"Ha! the worst game ever, I love it! I think thats hilarious,, well wish my name was not on it .

I did see some terrible comments about it on youtube.... I do remember helping out a friend for his project, Michael Anderson, see what happens when you help out friends and their productions? Yikes?

there was no internet back then , had no idea it would come back to haunt me, oh well
I will check out that link
thanks"

Good to see she has a sense of humor about all of this.

That is seriously awesome, and it pretty much confirmed what I'd suspected, that this production was basically a bunch of friends getting together for a laugh.

HOLY SHIT! I cannot wait for this one! It looks good and I'm psyched to watch it. If I'm not mistaken, isn't this the first time there's been a direct sequel to one of his reviews? I know the horror ones were just parts of a story, but this looks to be an honest to God sequel!

Wow, that Jeanne chick has a crazy resume. She was trained by Mondo Guerrero! That's pretty awesome. Looks like she had some work done on her cheeks though. That never looks right. Still hot though. That's cool though. Makes me waht to find out where some other fmv actors are today. Especially the chick that was Rebecca Chambers in the original Resident Evil game.

But, wasn't that just part of a story? I meant by sequel as a review that didn't have a second part immediately following the first(I always took that as the second part of an episode instead of a sequel). By the trailer, he looks like he did put a lot of time into this one, as he stated. I know he's busy, but I'd like to see more trailers like that one in the future(the Youtube ones never got me as psyched as this one did).

I was watching my Critic vs. Nerd video that I put together last night. I wonder if we'll see any more like that? *fingers crossed* AVGN vs. The Irate Gamer!

Why would you want to see that? It would be five minutes of the Irate gamer sitting there talking to the AVGN and trying to make himself seem really smart and important, and James being too polite to tell him how big of a douche he was.

I THINK he means that most 2 or 3 part episodes he considers just that, 2 or 3 parts to a single episode. And since this one was so long in between the two parts it's more like a sequel than just an extended episode broken into parts. I think.

Yes, I did mean that. Ghostbusters was a three parter. He reviewed all of them in three parts. The Ghostbusters for the NES was first, then Ghostbusters II, and then the other Ghostbuster games.

Crazy Castle classifies as a sequel since it's been a long time between parts and he didn't said that there was a part 2, part 3, etc. Birthday Blowout was a single episode with no second part. This is also a sequel because Bugs Bunny comes back and is mad at what happened in Birthday Blowout. In essence, this is a direct sequel to the Birthday Blowout game.

Sonicwolf is right, that's what I meant with Ghostbusters. He originally just did one video for Ghostbusters, but later made parts 2 and 3 to re-review the game and talk about other versions of it. He didn't plan on making 3 parts when he started with Ghostbusters. I really don't see how Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle would be a sequel to Birthday Blowout, they're different games that happen to have the same character.

Plus, he did 2 separate reviews for Bible games for different years. That should be considered a sequel.

Right, I think the guy really appreciates videogames but he has created this Angry Nerd persona because it's much more entertaining to watch someone rant, than to watch someone geek-out over how wonderful something is.

When he actually describes a particular game, he does a pretty good job of summing it up concisely and articulately. He doesn't bore anyone with too many details, but he definitely hits major points on everything. His Odyssey review (a system which which I am -very- familiar) did a good job of giving a good overview. He's a bit harsh, but I think that's part of the schtick.

Battletoads is great but he was right about the "ability to hit the second player" thing. It was an unexcusable fault in the game though. He should really review some excellent games and say what everyone else is afraid to say about them because of popular opinion. Some good games deserve some bashing now and then.

I like the game too, I played through it from beginning to end and thought it was great. I like the sequels too, I actually like Crazy Castle 2 on Gameboy the most from what I played but I may be somewhat biased as that's the first Crazy Castle I played, back when I was a kid.

I believe that was the first Castlevania game I ever played, it was either that or the Castlevania Adventure for Gameboy. I never understood why people liked the series until I played other games from it. Everything he says about Castlevania 2 is true, I didn't like how it switched between day and night and how you had to collect items to play it. The good early games just had you going through a level killing enemies, you didn't need to collect a huge inventory of stuff to use at certain times to go through the game.

The day to night and inventory stuff isnt what bothered me. I couldn't stand the blocks you fall through constantly that don't look any different from the regular blocks so you spend the entire game throwing holy water every step you take to make sure you don't fall. All the while looking for clues that are supposed to tell you what to do and where to go but are worded/translated so poorly as to not make a lick of sense. I'm willing to gamble that not a single person who played that game to the end did so legitamately (without help or guide). If that game didn't have the Castlevania name, it would be universally detested.

I still have my original copy of Castlevania II. I was going through my old NES stuff and in the Castlevania II box I found a slip of paper with save codes on it, including the final save code to finish the game. The slip of paper has to be at least 20 years old. I broke out my NES and beat the game for old time sake (using the save code, natch).

He reviewed 5 different crazy castle games. They're all basically the same exact game. What more can you say about Bugs Bunny's crazy castle that wasn't said. It's nice to see a change of pace since all his videos this year have been nothing but him talking about the games without much else going on. Except maybe the Jaguar video with the cat. If all he did was talk about the game, with nothing else going on it would be pretty damn boring. And this is nothing new btw. He was doing this long long ago starting with the Jason video. Every once in a while he likes to bring in a new element to keep it from getting stale. This video was quite funny, a breath of fresh air and a great tribute to Looney Tunes.

You're right. He really said everything he could about the games. I think he should of used more games, or made the video shorter.

I know he's the "Angry Video Game Nerd" but lately he's been doing very in depth reviews on the games he plays pointing out almost every flaw in them and I've been enjoying that a lot. He took it to a complete 180 in this one and spent only 1/3 of the time talking and playing the game itself and the other 2/3s fighting (I actually timed it, I was curious ;) ). I don't think he's ever spent so little time on the games he was reviewing.

Call me crazy but I like his other videos where he talks about the game and doesn't just put on cheesy little skits. I do like the skits though and I don't mind when he has them along with his reviews, it really makes him fun to watch but he almost only focused on his skit in this one. By the end I was really tired of watching him fight.

Yeh, I'm sure some people did enjoy it but I don't really have a taste for that kind of humor. I never found the story/skits funny as I always looked at them as small intermission from one game to the next. I've watched a lot of his other stuff (His short films, and his other series like the bullshit and the board game mini series).

I can never really appreciate James style of acting since I've always found his humor so simple.
What I do like to see his point of view on things and how he analyzes everything. I find it truly interesting how he sees things, and he really has a talent for breaking things down and talking about them in a fun way. He didn't really do that in this episode and that's why I had trouble enjoying it.

:sob:

I did find some parts funny and I like to see Kyle in his skits, I think it's really fun to watch him act. But overall I like it when he actually reviews games better.

I agree with Lemons... too much cheesy fight scenes. There was more he could've said about the games, like the music or more depth about the controls. Whether or not that information was sufficient, he should've toned down on the Bugs Bunny feud, seriously.

But 5 games is news to me. I only knew of the first four.

It's a sequel to the last Bugs game he reviewed where he spent 2/3 of the ep smashing Bugs over the head. He didn't even really hates BBBB moreso that it was too easy and bland for him. I wouldn't expect anything less than excessive fake violence in this one.

My big beef with the review is that he didn't mention that with each game, it got progressively more cumbersome to get the keys. First they were just lying around, then they were in rooms with nothing else in them, then they were in rooms with nothing else in them but inside treasure chest, THEN they were in rooms with nothing else in them inside treasure chest BUT when you opened the chest you had to walk over the item to get it. The first time he threw Bugs into the wall was awesome though.

I was wondering what those were(I thought it was play-doh sprayed with water), but I was saying the same thing after I saw it: "I bet that they had a nice clean-up job to do."

But, as for the couch, you can tell that they faked it. For the collapse, they took some wood and the backboard and made a "pratfall couch". They also rigged the guitar, because the NERD is always holding it at a certain spot with at least one hand(where they took the saw and half-cut it, so it breaks easier). That part I know because I was a big Honky Tonk Man fan and he admitted in an interview that they used to rig the guitars like that.

He really could have said more about the games, Crazy Castle 2 actually had an end boss fight while the first and third games didn't(I haven't played the rest so I don't know). He didn't even mention that the first Crazy Castle had Mickey Mouse instead of Bugs Bunny overseas, and he didn't mention that there was a Crazy Castle for Gameboy before Crazy Castle 2(it was different from the NES version). I did like when Bugs Bunny kicked his ass though, that was pretty fun. The games are pretty good though, I liked the ones I played(the second one was the best I played).

Nerd holding the "FUCK" sign at the end was the funniest damn thing I've seen in a long time.

I saw this as less of a review of the game series and more of a celebration of all things Looney Tunes... and what's wrong with that? It's a nice change of pace from the "standard" reviews we've had for a few months now.

He didn't mention that because it would be wrong. The Japanese version featured Roger Rabbit. It was a Famicom Disk System game however, so I doubt he wanted to blow the mind of "teh fanz" with that in this installment.

He has that nifty Famicon/w disk so why was the FDS game Roger Raddit not shown and the sequel to it with Mickey Mouse. I would have liked to of seen more about the games back ground and it could have opened up so much more with the Bugs/Woody thing like bugs morphs to Bugs/Woody/Roger/Mickey (with Mickey upside down in the crotch) and he calls in Super Mecha Death Christ 2000 BC 4.0 Beta!

I remember him saying something, I think on the transformers episode that his disk system is not working or he's missing a part to it.

This episode was ok, the fighting got a little repetitive. The funniest part to me though is if you look closely when he first gets shitted on it looks like he wants to laugh and also when bugs threw the nintendo game at him, I thought was a random funny moment.

Maybe the belt? I've replaced one. It's a pain in the ass!

at points I wanted to write this episode off, but it had some funny moments I have to admit.

OT, but the AVGN seems to be getting fatter! he looks like he has gained a good 20 pounds this year and appears to be turning into a basement dweller unintentionally

I am a gamer and I still find time to hit the treadmill when I eat a little too much fast food, but James looks like he is packing on the pounds with no sign of stopping. I know he is married, but still man, don't let yourself go when your getting famous!

It was a very "meh" episode but oh well. Not like I signed a contract saying that all his episodes were gonna be good

The game "reviews" are really taking a far back seat to his exercises for special effects, fighting scenes, different camera angles, toiletier toilet humour, etc. It's unfortunate, as I liked the first couple of years, but hey. He's certainly free to evolve it into whatever, I just don't care for the new ones. The Kyle jokes are the only thing I found enjoyable..

That was the best part of the review. (the one through the shelf)
