This episode was TERRIFIC! Perfectly described how difficult and frustrating the original NES game was.

One thing I like about James is he's really good at vocalizing the things we normally project onto some games. That whole bit about how you can see how damn mad Motherbrain is at the start of the the second phase is a great example.

The first issue of Nintendo Power had a complete map of Metroid.

That doesn't really change the point he was making there. And for the sake of argument, there was a tad over a years difference between the release of Metroid and the first issue of NP.

The map was on one page in Nintendo Power and really almost worthless unless you had a magnifying glass. The maps in the Player's Guide were very valuable though.

Looks like the same one from the nintendo players guide that's the one i used to complete metroid with no problems at all.

Yeah, it's in the players guide too. It's just much, much smaller in the standard issue, for whatever reason.

I was the target audience with this video and he hit the mark right out the gate. The game was new to me and my thoughts were "That cover looks cool. Oh damn, cool cut scene too." And then you see the actual gameplay and just "..oh."
