I loved the Wizard as a kid. Not just for the game footage, but I really liked the premise, it had some serious dramatic themes. Ok maybe if I watch it today I might think it's lame, but as a kid I loved it. Anyways great episode AVGN, can't wait for the next one!

Swearing. also, because it's about videogames, they wouldn't be interested in that.

Well, sure, if you play it on the lowest difficulty level! The other levels put either a hawk, bat, or spider on each screen which gets more and more difficult to avoid depending on the difficulty.

But even on the lowest difficulty, there are jumps to be made, and they were sometimes challenging for someone younger than 10.

Yeah, and no friggin' jump button! This game pissed me off so much I'm surprised he didn't mention that you had to push up on the crappy joystick to jump, which sucked while walking.

It might have something to do with the fact that G4 is not a video game or technology related channel in any shape, form, or fashion.

I see! 1997 by John Dondzila, eh? I wasn't aware people were doing Coleco ROM hacks back then.

Is it just the graphics that are different, or the music too? (I rather liked the music in Venture, but anything would be better than that endlessly-looping craziness after the fifth screen in Mouse Trap.)

The last 5 minutes of this episode made up for any lacking over-the-top ridiculous comedy portions in the IntelliVision/ColecoVision reviews.

Not that I didn't enjoy the Double Vision videos ... but this this one was great in a totally different way, it was like a mash-up of everything he does well. Pointing out things about movies we've seen that we might not have otherwise noticed, solid reviews of NES games, and awesome comedy segments.

NESorries....

My zapper still works and it was circa 1985. He is missing a LOT of other crappy ones. He had to do the dumb joke to please too many fan requests. The U force worked? What no satellite or 4 controller port items?

ROB is on the horizon....not a bad episode.

Not bad. Passed the time agreeably, and was actually the first time I've ever seen a U-Force in action, even though I must have bought/sold 100 of them used during my Funco days. Kind of makes me want one for my collection.

In the late 1980s, my friend across the street got a U-Force. I remember it cost around $70. We were excited to try it out, but quickly became frustrated and disappointed because it didn't work. It was another useless gimmick.

EDIT: I just finished watching the NES Accessory video. I honestly don't know how the Nerd got the U-Force to work as decently as he did. I'm stunned!

Hey tonight's episode was great. The last few had too much "funny" acting sequences - they get old fast. Tonight's didn't have any of the shit, just stuck with video game stuff and it was funny. Loved it.

By the way, I've never had trouble with a SNES Super Scope, I've always found them great. Could it be something with his TV?

I don't know, maybe some Super Scopes were just bad out of the box? I remember buying one the first week they came out and mine wouldn't work properly either, so I ended up taking it back for a refund. I bought a Sega Menacer (which was like the Genesis version of the Super Scope) later on and it worked fine.

Yeah, I noticed that the YouTube-hosted videos were down when I had decided to watch some random AVGN stuff yesterday. I wound up searching YouTube for the two I wanted to watch (Master Chu and TMNT) in case they may have been viewable on another user's profile, and sure enough, I found both of them elsewhere on the site.

Here's hoping the older videos are added to GameTrailers or Screw Attack.

The Irate Gamer, a partner on YouTube, has been accused of being behind a rash of suspensions of the YouTube accounts of various video game reviewers-many of whom are critical of the Irate Gamer, or supportive of the AVGN.

Someone posted a video where the IRATE GAMER got a new asshole torn into him; it explained why he shouldn't be a partner in the first place. He uses tons of material that isn't even his, such as music and movie clips. They go FAR BEYOND fair use, and other members have been suspended for using them far less than he does.

(I'm sorry, I meant the IRATE GAMER, not the AVGN!)

Armake21?

(Right now, his account has been disabled, he didn't get banned (as far as I know), he just changed his account, as a new start.)

A few months ago he was pretty fed up with the Irate Gamer and his cohorts. Armake was constantly being accused of "copying the Irate Gamer" (by the IG's youtube minions), even though he had been reviewing games before the Irate Gamer. He posted an angry video explaining how he, the AVGN, and other reviewers have been harassed by the IG and his brainless zombie assistants. That video was removed less than 48 hours after it was posted. That's just a little proof of how much control the Irate Gamer has over youtube (and some of it's members). I'm glad I don't review games on youtube (though I want to), I don't think I could take the crap that the other reviewers get from those guys.

James isn't doing a ROB review... yet. This was posted on his site's news page on the 16th:

Lots of people seem to be confused by the ending of "NES Accessories". It hints at R.O.B. the one important accessory I left out. But no, I am NOT planning a review of R.O.B. anytime soon. When I do, it'll be epic and will take a lot of time to make. For now, I'm trying to give myself a break and focus on reviewing basic games, instead of console reviews, game peripherals or giant compilations. Mark my words at the end of the video "save it til later."

IrateGamer is a troll. He's hosted (or was) on FreezeCracker, which is run by a group called the GameBoys, who trolled various reviewer channels, put up insulting videos, and reported several of their videos (which led to James' TMNT movie review getting pulled). His review of SMB2 is similar to the Furious Famicom Faggot (http://youtube.com/watch?v=nyw47sg5Mh0) as well. I dunno about the Youtube cahoots or whatever, I don't really care anymore, but seeing Armake's videos get deleted sucks.

The Irate Gamer is just a annoying retard. I never heard about him until this thread so I decided to watch one of his videos. I figured I would see what he had to say about contra, he sounded like a whining 12 year old. He just finds anything about the game and says something completely retarded about it. The last level of Contra he was crying about the floating white puffs on the level....... that's how much of a moron the guy is.

Let the asshole do whatever he has to do to get rid of the competition, it doesn't matter, the idiot has over 120,000 views on most of his crap and the highest ratings he gets are 3 stars.

I just watched the new Indiana Jones review. James really is my interent hero. He loves the same stuff I love and is doing (with his series) something I would have loved to do.

The Indiana Jones games were awful games until the SNES one came out. I have fond memories of Temple Of Doom on NES despite it's absurdity. My cousins and I tried SOOO hard to beat that game, we even tried watching the movie for clues! Damn we were stupid kids with big imaginations.

Me and only one other DP member (Dr. Morbis?) both agree that Tengen's Temple of Doom is actually a great game. It is difficult to get the hang of, but once you do it's a lot of fun. If you can handle the control scheme, you'll find that it's actually got some cool game design. I've never been able to beat it.

It's designed a lot like many old Atari games (Gauntlet, for example) where there are hidden warps and you can skip multiple stages. If you want, you can be at the last level in 5 minutes. Problem is, if you don't play all the way through (or at least SOME of the way through) you don't have enough ammo to succeed at a particular task (crossing that huge lava pit). To do the game right is a hell of an undertaking. I still play this game a couple times a month and it's always a challenge, and there's nothing else that really plays like this on the NES.
