Probably because it'd spike the production costs a good 3 grand just to get the system and some of the more demanded games.Presumably he already has the system and at least one game; it has come up before.

Lately I've been watching Gamesack and loving each episode.

Yeah his material wasnt good and he couldnt salvage the concept. I really love Gamesack. They did a good Saturn episode recently. For some reason I can watch the 16 bit controllers and more episode and be hooked every time.

And theres only one bad game on the neo geo is some boxing game. I mean, theres a ton of amazing games on there. I guess he could do a Ninja Gaiden type episode and try to master The King of Fighters '98. The only thing he can really go off on is how expensive the stuff was, and how slow the CD console was. He touched on the neo geo occasionally from time to time. I discovered it from the Plumbers Dont Wear Ties episode. He has a good handful of games in his room and at least a controller or two. If you looked at his walls youll see the boxes.

Yes, Game Sack is terrific, but a different show. Those guys review and critique games, with the occasional comedy bit. James does mostly comedy.

I downloaded and played it. I hope this didnt cost $200 or more dollars to buy on the AES. I didnt like how it only punching. Its a boxing game, Im not into them. The body shots are pretty bad looking, like they have to be right up against me to land, and they just hit me when theyre that close. Gave up on the second match. Mediocre to me, not horrible. EH.

I hope the Nerd does a video on Bubsy 3D soon.

Well, on the AVGN subreddit someone said its a bunch of people calling him a scam artist based on the video he did for the Cheetahmen 2 rerelease, and flagged James' videos. He also posted a screenshot of Youtube comments. so take from that what you will.

I don't know I think, what they're getting at is that James led them to believe that the rerelease of Cheetahmen 2 was going to be good and instead they got a piece of shit wrapped in fresh paper. Also that the guy behind it didnt really do anything to actually fix the game and just put a ROM on the carts and sold them.

Spoony already reviewed it in greater detail ages ago. Apparently he's really into the Highlander films which is why he reviewed this game, though the game has little to do with the movies at all.

I haven't watched his videos in a very long time either, he's a decent reviewer but he's got more drama in him than a Mexican soap opera.

I barely watch Spoony videos as most of them aren't reviews anymore, they're mostly like Vlogs which run for 40 minutes at a time. Most of his recent reviews aren't as good as his early ones either, it's like the better his equipment got the worse the content turned out. His characters he plays in costumes really suck too. That Highlander review was from over 2 years ago so it's not like it's recent.

Still I check the reviews out if I've already seen everything else, there's not really as much new content put out by the people I normally regularly check out. Then there's the drama Kitsune Sniper mentioned where Spoony was kicked out of Channel Awesome for some type of rape joke directed at one of the female reviewers there, plus a stack of other stuff he did.

Spoony is one interesting person, no doubt. He's admitted that he has some mental health issues in addition to the physical issues that become more and more apparent as you see him over the years. I honestly think he has problems keeping his character out of his actual life. He's a drama fountain, and I detest drama fountains. God help you if you have a legitimate, constructive complaint about his recent reviews. He'll just lapse into babbling and being "edgy" by saying his fans are all idiots.

Can someone explain the drama about channel awesome a little more in depth? I completely missed it.

He made a joke about tying one of the female contributors of Channel Awesome up and abusing her. When he was asked to apologize, he refused and made fun of them as well.

He has serious mental health issues, combined with delusions of grandeur. Like I said, I don't think he can keep his character and actual personality separate.

I prefer to steer away from and ignore internet drama, which is probably why I didn't even know about Spoony being kicked out of TGWTG until like three months later. Even then I was like "Oh... oh well. When's he gonna start that FF13 review?"

That's the quality of most of his non-review videos and they're terrible.

Here's a review of his from 6 years ago, as you can see the quality was better then. I'm not crazy, his reviews were actually good at one point. If they always sucked I wouldn't have started watching them. He peaked when he switched from youtube to blip, then it went downhill.

The Mike & James Jag CD video, their criticism and commentary was awfully predictable. It's cool to see some Jag CD games in action, and it was an enjoyable enough watch, but I wish they'd had a little more to say.

Spoony's game and movie reviews are good though. His other stuff is pretty boring or annoying.

Watch his older stuff (e.g. his Demolition Man 3DO video) - you'll like it :)

Im behind sorta with Game Overthinker cause Ive watched his stuff on youtube, but hes on blip now too. I dont know why its so alluring to people, but if you eventually put stuff up on youtube why not just put it on there? Im catching up now since his announcement in episode in v 77 made me seek his new uploading place.

Oh this is why "Incidentally, for those who were wondering: I went with Blip partially because the monetization options are better and it's a more "prestigious" venue (they have to "accept" a show - you can't just put up anything and use their bandwith); but primarily it came down to YouTube being INCREDIBLY difficult to deal with re: fair use claims and flaggingm which makes a commenting-on-entertainment-products show difficult to do there. "

You guys should watch Game Overthinker if you want a "not crazy guy who is smart" alternative to Spooney on blip. I recommend watching all his stuff in order before you watch his new stuff though, very interesting evolution to the show.

It's not like a major television show where actually watching it is the point, just loading it up and listening to it as you do this and that is generally good enough to get the point. I used to do that with pretty much everything Channel Awesome.

Sorta dislike the nerd going for the whole movie thing. The trailer looks really cheesy...I'd rather just see the 15 - 20 minute videos than the movie.

While we're discussing other series I want to say something about the Game Grumps. I can't tell if they know how to play the games some times and are just faking not knowing or actually don't know. Like take family feud for example on the episode they were playing the SNES game they seemed to not understand most of the basic rules of the game, they did understand though they had to guess the most popular answer in a poll. But they didnt get like the rules of the game. And the in another episode the one where they're playing the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen game. In the Begining they correctly peg it as a Mario party clone. And at one point point out they know they're each assigned a specific color. Then often in that episode they seem to dont know who's playing who In the minigames.

The first time I heard about Jontron was half a year ago when I was looking up Daikatana reviews. It was a really good review (besides him not mentioning how horrible getting up the steps to get to the Katana, and him obviously using a level select cheat to do the rest of the review), and I thought Id enjoy other videos by him. Then I saw the Charlies Angels review and totally hated his fake voice in it. I dont know why he changed it into that, made all his other video unwatchable to me.

PS The later cut scenes in Daikatana are the most cringe worthy but laugh your ass off cut scenes Ive seen in a game. Really, its worth using a level select cheat just to see them.

Game Grumps is informal and not very focused on the game on purpose. Let's Plays are overdone, the only ones I see without massive negative feedback are ones that make fun of other videos or don't even really rely on the game to be entertaining.

That's nothing new and something that happens on pretty much every popular and unpopular thing on the entire internet. Assuming things are going poorly because some Youtube comments said so isn't a particularly wise idea. If you actually use/browse their forums there is just as much support as there is distaste for Demo Reel, revolving more around the idea that Nostalgia Critic was consistently good, while Demo Reel is hit or miss (so far).

They make money from video views, so if they had to bring back the critic, things probably were super super bad.

It's not actually clear if that's why the Critic is returning or not. It's been suggested that this was the plan right from the get go, but Rob has been dropping hints that this was a recent idea and kind of just came out of the blue, all of it on the part of Doug.

I love Troma. Everyone should check out Toxic Avenger, Troma's War and Poultrygeist. Or Combat Shock for a very serious weird take on PTSD, and it has a dash of Eraserhead.
