I have one of those, i'v never really got into it or tested, but i think it does work along side the BIG nes counter tester, which has the little 14" monitor. So you can test all the connections etc, etc, with the snes.

i also have a handful of snes test carts, but it wouldn't hurt to have one more! :D plus there are 3 more test carts in the other auction posted last night! it's 2 or 3 posts above this one :D

This seller got some really cool items, but the prices are too high. Almost $372 for a loose Rodland, get real :\ The last complete sold for $377 and was mint. It was PAL-A tho, but for most people this doesnt matter. Actually, he should be able to get more for the PAL-A version since he live in England, they use PAL-A.

these 2 carts i just picked up are a 1994 super nintendo powerfest competition cart with the game super mario bros "the lost levels", super mario cart, and ken griffey jr major league baseball. the other cart is a 1992 super famicom competition cart with the games super mario world, f-zero, and pilotwings. both are as far as i know the other copies to have every been found.

the powerfest cart is the griffey cart along with the games super mario world "the lost levels" and super mario kart. from what ive been hearing my 2 probably one of a kind carts might not be worth much more than a nintendo duckhunt with magic marker on the label. as im sure jason told you i might just wait for the next 20 cent e-bay day, put a buy it now/best offer price of oh say 4 billion and get some cheap worldwide publicity. i wouldnt even try to claim that i have half the knowledge on retro video game as some of you folks, but theres no way these are worth less than nwc grey carts. as for now im just keep them where they are, carefully hidden next to my cock rings and my naked pictures of angela lansbury. peace!!!

Buyatari: The Griffey is the Powerfest 94. It has Mario as well on it.

Also, that is the SECOND F-Zero/Pilotwings one to have been found by someone who is not a Nintendo employee. It just does not seem to have Campus Challenge on the title screen as the other. The Powerfest "94 is the only one in the "wild", both of those exist at NIntendo, but unless someone else talks about it after he or she leaves Nintendo, it's the only one for now. I've only been looking for that cart for oh, about 12 years or so. Again, one of those cases where I knew it existed, but could not get to one. :/

It is actually logical that one of these excist in Sweden. The Scandinavian Nintendo distrubitor, Bergsala, HQ is located in Sweden. In 1992 Bergsala had a Nintendo tour in Sweden. Here they held compos etc. There is an article here:

I'll translate the important part (tävla med specialkassett/Compete with special cartridge)


The compo event works like that 8 can compete against eachother in 1 heat. The special cartridge is build up by 3 parts. First you're going to collect 25 coins in SMB3 as fast as you can. Then you get to play with Nintendo's own pinball game Pin Bot where the goal is to get 100,000 points as fast as you can. Finaly you get to play Dr. Mario with the remaining time you have left of the total time and try to get as many points as you can.

So its basicly just like the NWC cart, just with other games. 8 people could play against eachother at the same time, but if this required 8 cartridges i dont know. This cart excists (or atleast it did) in Sweden.

I ended my subscription to the Nintendo magazine in 1994 since i didnt have a SNES. 95% was SNES material at that time so my mom said i didnt need the magazine (true that, but i still wish i contunied the subscription hehe :)). So its fully possible that Bergsala had a compo like this later on with SNES instead, or that it was planed.

As for it to get into the wild, here is one story about some protos getting out to the wild. A guy who formerly owned like 50% of Bergsala placed an add in a local newspaper in 2005. He was selling some NES games. A guy bought them and when he got home he noticed that the lot contained 12 prototypes. So i guess the guy who owned the SNES compo cart did the same thing, only on an online auction. It turns my stomach of jealousy everytime i think of it since i usualy check this auction site and i missed it hehe :(

Neo Geo Freak got the rights to produce I think 50-100 versions of the game. They took out the original inserts supposedly, and the original manuals, and put in their own, which are still high quality, but to be honest, no one in the Neo Geo Community considers that a "real" release.

Or, NGF just lied and produced their own, either way, too shady for anyone's blood.

Well, they did finally take it down... One of the people he was stealing images from (by linking directly to their site) got a little annoyed and decided to have some fun... :evil:

His response to me about using some of my images was "There's been over 400 people looking at the auction, think of it as free advertising." No, I think of it as copyright infringement...

Hehe, its always fun when ppl change out linked pics :) But i really dont see what the big deal is. Its 1 single auction that lasts for a few days. So why on earth should the owner of the link be so pissed? If it was linked to a website i can understand, but 1 auction.. doesnt make much sense to me.

It's becuase in most cases, the seller is essentially trying to claim that the item pictured is the one they are actually selling. (Or, they will link to a picture of a MINT one, and say it's a representation of the one they are selling, which of course looks like they found it in the trash.)

When this guy first listed his auction, his description was a complete copy/paste of someone's Adventure Vision page showing the site owner's mint-in-box Adventure Vision (with a sale value of at least $2500). There was NO OTHER indication in the auction description of what the seller was actually selling.

Then, at the bottom (using Ebay's picture service) he had a couple of pictures of his loose Adventure Vision (missing the Defender cartridge, but including the other 3). So after reading a 3-4 screen description of a new, never opened AV complete with all the games sealed, you start to think that's what you are actually bidding on.

When people started to question what he was actually selling, THEN he added a line saying the above pictures were just for reference. Why the hell do I need reference pictures of a MIB game system when you are selling a loose, used one? He then proceded to copy/paste (including links to pictures) the AV pages from at least two other websites (mine included).

In this case, it came down to copyright infringement and what looked like a bait-and-switch tactic. Even though you shouldn't do this, some people just see a picture or two, and bid right away without reading the description, assuming they will get what's in the picture. There are sellers that DEPEND on people doing this, and blatantly exploit it (which this auction was really started to look like...).
