Yes, it's official and limited to 666.

Actually they were limited to 1000 not 666. I've seen all the colors before. The Sony Meteron had em all sitting in their store at the Everquest Online launch a few years back. At the time the PS2's had dropped in price to near the 200 range, but these were still selling for 300 or 350. I flinched on getting a yellow one. They are shiny but the colors have a slight pastelness to them. They are pretty cool though.

About the scarcity of this, I have seen this twice before in the year or so I have been around here. Of course it is rare, however I wonder how many of these exist. I'm not sure about this, but I think last time I saw it, it either sold or didn't sell for somewhere around $300-$500 USD.
