Didn't square declare they had no intention of putting their games on VC when they could just sell them as remakes for like 4 times the money?
It makes the possibility of a Mario RPG release a nebulous one, but I can't see any reason why Nintendo wouldn't want it out there.

SquareEnix released Actraiser on the Virtual Console. I would say that Mario RPG is definitely a possibility.

Super Metriod
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
Neutopia
The source is http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=13206
I own all 3 games, and all 3 of them are great games. Neutopia is a Legend of Zelda clone. This might be the greatest vc week ever or one of the top 5 weeks ever for the vc. Shinobi III was suprise this week. The chances are then that Donkey Knong Jr Math will be released next week.
I am not to sure if the press release is correct from Nintendo's site.
According to http://vc-pce.com/usa/e/index.htm l, Neutopia wasn't supposed released today. Hudson is the matainer of the site and they annouce the release date of the game on 3 days prior to the game being released on monday on the vc.
Someone else will have to post the new vc games next Monday, since I will not have internet access from Thursday to 10 days later at least.

What is with Sega's reluctance with releasing Revenge of Shinobi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revenge_Of_Shinobi)(i.e. Super Shinobi) in the US? They left it off the Sega Genesis Collection and now release one of its sequels before the original on the VC. I don't think it's been available since the shitty Dreamcast port back in '99. Am I missing something? Please don't tell me it's a legal issue (Godzilla, Spiderman, Batman all making appearances), but something tells me it is.

I can't say anything for sure about Spiderman or Godzilla, but if memory serves me right, Batman got the axe early on. Apparently, Sega never actually got the rights to Batman, but included him in the game anyway. DC threw a fit, and by the 2nd production run of the game, he was replaced by some generic bat-creature.
Neil Koch
08-20-2007, 10:12 PM
It's probably because of Spider-Man. Sega got the rights for the character on the 2nd version of RoS (hence the new copyright screen at the beginning) whereas for Batman and Godzilla, they redesigned the characters.
Activision owns the video game rights now, and given Spidey's big popularity with the movies, getting permission to use him even for a small appearance would probably cost too much for a VC game, as would going back and changing the character art.
Neo Rasa

How times have changed, the shitty Dreamcast iteration was the last in a long line of Revenge of Shinobi getting whored out over and over again. Sonic the Hedgehog is the new Revenge of Shinobi. :D
The important thing is that Neutopia is out. :D

Can Sega just release Revenge of Shinobi with differnt people
Neil Koch
08-21-2007, 07:11 PM
Like I said, it would probably just be too cost prohibitive for Sega to re-do RoS.
Not only would they have to change the character art for the Spiderman boss, they'd probably have to totally reprogram the character so none of his attacks would be the same as Spidey's.
There's also the issue of the Terminator boss as well.
Hell, even the title screen is a digitized picture from the Sonny Chiba series "Shadow Warriors"...
And the DC version of RoS was horrible - they mangled the soundtrack.

It's a shame too. RoS has the best Sega Genesis soundtrack of all time. Actually...since I'm on the subject...Revenge of Shinobi is one of the greatest games of all time.
Worth it's weight in gold: Super Shinobi and Works Soundtrack (http://www.en.game-ost.ru/info.php?id=705)
I still have the original Genesis game I bought back on January 28th, 1990 (the day of Superbowl 24). It has Spiderman, Godzilla, Batman...the whole works. I rarely hook up the old Genesis anymore and would gladly pay $8 to have it on the Wii VC. It looks like this isn't going to happen.

This weeks games are:
Adventure Island
Donkey Kong Jr. Math
LandStalker: The Treasures of King Nole
Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure
The source is http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=13311 .
This is a rare week of 4 games being released on the vc.
If you played Wonderboy for the sms, you already played Adventure island or vice versa.
As bad people look at Donkey Kong Jr Math, they should pleased that Nintendo didn't released Mario is missing or Mario's Time Machine in the same week.
Landstalker is a very good game. Some parts of the game the controls are a problem due to the view. It plays like an action rpg, but in an isometric view.
At least people don't have to go to ebay to get Bonk 3 now. The price of Bonk 3 is a bargin on the vc.
FantasiaWHT

Landstalker is a great game! Can get a little frustrating because of that angled view (where "up" is really up-left, "right" is really up-right, etc.) especially when there are moving platforms (vertically as well as horizontally) to deal with. Lot of fun and quite funny, though.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/817/817486p1.html
It think a US release of the game could happen this month or next month depending on how much translation is needed to be done.
There will be more Japan only games hitting the vc soon in the US. While lode Runner battle was the only Japan only vc game hitting the states, everything points to there being more Japan only games hitting the vc in the states like the tg-16 running out of good to great games that were released in the states.
The n64 is perfect example of a Japan only game is needed. More then half of the games on the system can't be released on the vc for one reason or another.

Neutopia 2 is supposely a better game then Neutopia 1. I feel sorry for anyone that bought Neutopia 1 on the vc due to the game being released less then a month when it sequal came out today. I don't know what Hudson was thinking.

Europe got 2 import games that were Japan only. They got them on Sept. 14th in their time zone.
The games are:
Mario's Super Picross and it is for 900 wii points.
Super Mario Brothers 2: Japan -There is a warning though this version of Super Mario 2 is only able to downloaded till the end of September with it costing 600 wii points.
I got this info from: http://www.vc-reviews.com/news/162/eu-vc-releases-14th-september-double-japan-only-games.php .
When Super Mario Brothers 2: Japan gets released in North America, I expect it to be a limited time also. Do not be shocked as a result of the limited time for Super Brothers 2: Japan to downloaded in Europe.
Those 2 games means Battle Load Runner was not a fluke for Japan only games being released other places in the world.

Yeah, but it's gonna be interesting to see how well the original PC-E Dracula X on the Dracula X Chronicles game plays when the PSP is hooked up to a TV via component.....
Off hand, has anyone seen ANY pics of the original PC-E version or Symphony from the PSP collection?! I wonder what they are gonna do with the cool German voiceover for the beginning of Rondo. I know they'll most likely change it, although they SHOULD keep it. Watch the German trailer on Gametrailers...redone German, but still fits it perfectly :)

If I remember right there is sometype of a show for video game companies in America next month with the show being announced as a replacement last year. That show is supposed to start this year in October or Nov.
If that show happens, Nintendo should have an announment for storage.
Yoshi's Story was released in a tough situation. It didn't matter what game was released for the n64 after Sin & Punishment was announced for Europe for this month with the game also being released in Japan. That game would be a disappointment for video game players who own a wii except for Super Smash Bros with it being a maybe for gamers being happy with it instead of having Sin &Punishment.

Yeah, this is a pretty bad week. There's usually one game worth playing every week, but not this time. Sin and Punishment, however, I would expect to see that in the States, and I expect it to do pretty well. If you like the Panzer Dragoon shooters, you'll be at home with that one.
The N64 lineup on VC still seems pretty thin. Was the console's library really that weak? What's there to look forward to, after Rare's titles and Smash Brothers? I wonder how long they'll continue to hold out on Goldeneye?

The other games I could think of the could be on the vc is Diddy Kong Racing, Excitebike 64, Geomon's Great Adventure, Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, Kirby 64: The cystal Shards, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mischief Makers, Mystical Ninja starring Geoman, Orgre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, Pilotwings 64, Castlevania 64, and Castlevania: legacy of Darkness.

If they went through and removed the pentagrams in Devil's Crush, I'm pretty sure it's the US version that has that guy changed :b
And as for Goldeneye, don't hold your breath. The James Bond license would probably be too much to pay for, especially since EA has the video game rights now.

Sadly no, this is the US edition on Wii :( Would be sweet to have the real JP version.

Ah, but which SOR was the best? The second or the third? I really hated the music and fouled-up colors in SOR3, but it probably played the fastest and most varied. But SOR2 had a bigger impact on everyone at the time.
So was SOR3 a victim of the brawler overload? Did we give it the proper credit? All three games in the series were released on VC fairly quickly...so which would you recommend?

So the prancing guy is in the US Wii version? That's worth a dl.
@Daniel: IMO 2 > 3 but all the streets games are good.
