Now that was a fun game. I remember renting that one time from PharmHouse, I think. Never was a fan of skating, but just rented it for the heck of it.

The same person who gave the hints for about Super Mario on the NeoGaf Forum has fond out from his "connection" that this Monday a TG16-CD game, an NES game, and a Genesis game.

The Tg16-cd game appears to be Super Air Zonk: Rockabilly.

I will not give out the hint because it is too confusing.

This weeks games are:
Wrecking Crew -200 wii points
Sonic 3d Blast-800 wii points
Super Air Zonk: 800 wii points

The source is http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=14046 .

Sonic 3d Blast is the worst Sonic platform game on the genesis.

Super Air Zonk was better music then the Air Zonk did, but has no parallax scrolling.

This is not a great week considering this week is the Wii's 1st year Anniversary.

Vegas Stakes - 800 wii points

Hmmm aside from double dribble, a sad week yet again in my book.

Vegas Stakes is actually really fun if you don't cheat at it. It's only real drawback is that the poker is 1-player only. I wonder if it has some kind of mouse support.

And Ecco Jr.? I thought that was some kind of edumacational game or something, wasn't it?

After the recent import madness the last few weeks have been rather ho-hum. Air Zonk is the best of the bunch and the only saving grace I'm afraid. They can't all be winners I guess. *Waiting till next Monday*

And why is Wrecking Crew 600 points? It's a US release NES title. Possible that it's a typo?

The 3 games for Monday are:
Dynastic Hero-800 points
Zanac-500 points
Eternal Champions-800 points

The source is http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129709&page=319 . The games in one of Jsnake's posts on that page. He always got the info for the up coming games right thanks to his pr person.

Here is my opinion on 2 of the games: I own Enternal Champions since 1993 and I felt it was not a bad game at the time. It was good with a 6 player controller. I heard the Sega CD version is much better though.

I own Zanac. I felt it was a good shooter from Compile.

I don't own Dynastic Hero. You find the differences between Wonder Boy in Monster World and Dynastic Hero here: http://www.sega-16.com/feature_page.php?id=252&title=Side%20by%20Side: %20Wonder%20Boy%20in%20Monster%20World%20vs.%20Dyn astic%20Hero

Later this month: Monster Lair will be released on the vc. That is the Turbo CD version. The Genesis version was never released in the states.

Pokemon Snap will be released on Dec. 10th.

There is an added feature to the vc version. It is you can save or share your photos on the Wii message Board.

The reason I bought Vegas Stakes back when new was because it was one of those games that worked with the Mario Paint Mouse -- I desired to get more use out of my SNES mouse so I buy Vegas Stakes :embarrassed:

My mother like casino games and she play it a bit but her favorite was King of Casino -- she use to take my Turbo Express and play at work back in the 90's

Dynastic Hero is a pretty decent game. The music is the main thing I found better than Wonder Boy in Monster World. It is cool how folks will now have a chance to play this game.

- slide shows cannot use MP3s, you have to use AAC files. MP3s can still be used in Excite Truck.
- you can use one of your photos as the picture in the Wii Channel Menu

Weird... so your health constantly depletes and you have to collect items to keep it up? Yikes. Is that the actual music from the game?

I think so. I never played the game because I don't own a turbo cd or a Turbo duo.

Yes, It is the actual game music. I saw different videos of the same game with the same music. virtualturbo usually gets the music from the game he is playing. The only difference is he's using some type of a video editor. The music doesn't always fit the stage he shows in his video, but it is from the game he played.

Graham Mitchell
12-16-2007, 10:19 PM
Oh, yeah, that's the music. I own the Turbo disc. Actually, the game is most reminiscent of the original Wonder Boy (ie-Hudson's Adventure Island) with an autoscrolling/shooter feel to it. And, believe it or not, it's really really fun! I've racked up a lot of time on that silly game. It's not gonna blow you away or anything, but it's got an addictive quality to it.

Two new systems for VC? Link: http://kotaku.com/gaming/virtual-console/two-more-consoles-for-virtual-console-335527.php

Please, oh please, let one of them be the Saturn! Will probably be GB and GBC though. Or the rumored MSX and C64. Either way, it's mighty exciting. If true, of course. :)

Neil Koch
12-19-2007, 09:42 AM
One of them will be MSX (IIRC Nintendo actually already announced that it'll be on VC like a year ago). Not sure what the other will be - I'd say SMS.

Saturn is probably a no-go, due to the hassle that system is to emulate, and the size of the games isn't a good fit for the Wii's tiny hard drive.

Icarus Moonsight
12-19-2007, 05:08 PM
Sega has never had a problem with Saturn emulation (one of the dev tools was a very accurate PC emulator on Mid-90's PC's to boot - and the Wii is better in tech than that) and if it were to come to the VC I'm sure they would be helping getting it up and running with all their quality software they can sell for 1000-1200 points a pop. Size of games isn't a huge issue with compression of audio and the image... how are they doing TurboCD stuff then? Perhaps you mean Nintendo not wanting many cd based systems due to the limited storage. That I can understand.

The Saturn was huge in JPN so it's limited success in the US may not be a determining factor either. I'm not claiming to have prophetic vision or inside info. I'm just a fucktard when it comes to saturn stuff is all. I'll hope, and probably be a little disappointed when it winds up being the MSX/SMS. LOL

The 3 games for Christmas Eve are:

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixe Kong's Double Trouble - snes 800 Wii points
Blades of Steel- Nes 500 Wii points
Rolling Thunder 2- Genesis 800 Wii points

The source is http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129709&page=335 with Jsnake posting the info his pr person. His stuff is automatically accurate by now.

Donkey Kong Country 3 is a big Stunner to me. It was not rated by the Esrb yet. It was only rated by PEGI. It is a type of a group that does ratings for Europe.

Since Blades of Steel will be released on Monday, the three nes sports games that are rated by the Esrb and not released at this time are Bases Loaded, Pro Wrestling, and Skate or Die!.

I owned and played Rolling Thunder 3. It is a great game. Anyone that is fan of Rolling Thunder or the genre it's in, should download this game if they don't own the game for there genesis.

This game is the true first Virtual console 3rd party game on the genesis. Hopefully this means more 3rd party games will be coming to the genesis next year.

DKC3 was my second favorite DKC game (behind the first one). Excellent addition.

It's nice to see a third party Genesis game. I thought Sega would just stick to their first-party games but it looks like they're working out deals with third-parties to release their stuff. Here's hoping they work out a deal with Konami to get Contra Hard Corps, Castlevania Bloodlines, and Rocket Knight Adventures on the VC at some point.

It might not be awesome, but it's a really solid release week IMO.

Blades of Steel is one of my favorite NES games, and Rolling Thunder 2 is a fun action game (though I hope they release the NES version of the original at some point).

Riot Zone is the only turbo cd game to be released in January 2008. The source is http://vc-pce.com/usa/e/index.html. Hudson updates the site.

The n64 will be getting 1080 Snowboarding in Japan for January. The source is http://www.vc-reviews.com/news/221/japanese-virtual-console-list-january-2008.php

There is a history of n64 games being released in Japan will also be the next N64 game to be be released in North America for the vc. North America gets the n64 game in the same month as Japan does or will get the game within 2 or 3 months. Don't suprised if 1080 Snowboarding does to the North America vc anywhere from January to end of April as a result.

The only times this wasn't the case was in September of 2007 and October of 2007. Sin &Punishment was released in Japan in September with North America getting Yoshi's Story. The two games were released in a different order for September and October.

I didn't get the information of what the New Year's eve games for the vc will be. The info should come out later today or tomorrow.

It appears like it is a trend might starting worldwide concerning with Nintendo scaling back the vc releases.

The 2 games for Monday are:

Riot Zone-TG-16/Turbo Duo 800 Wii points

I only trust Riot Zone being released on Monday. I am saying that because the source I trust the most just got banned. The other person doesn't reveal how he or she gets the info for sure.

The source is http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129709&page=347. It appears like Jsnake got banned, but there was link provided by Cheesemeister. sonic582 gets the same game info ahead of time correctly but got the info differently then Jsnake does. He has been getting the info as Jsnake has been lately. Sonic gets the info before Jsnake and appears to be sometype of a media person or got the access of Mondays vc games on the Nintendo press media site somehow.

I know that Riot Zone is a Streets of Rage/ Final Fight type of a game by watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvaNDyGChP4

Here is a youtube video of Pac-Attack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFWasO2zlDI

This is a trend with 2 games released on Monday if the info is correct. I think this is the case due their being rumors of Wiiware games being released in March or the Everybody's Nintendo channel will be headed to North America soon. Everybody's Nintendo channel channel allows Wii users to watch trailers for games and download demos and game patches for the Nintendo DS along with rating games they play for the Virtual game console. It also Videos such as interviews, trailers, and commercials. This is based on what I read in wikipedia. There was articles about this channel when it first came out in Japan.

I will playing it by ear if I will be revealing the games ahead of Mondays after this. It is up to if Sonic is accurate this week. Jsnake might by be back soon, but I expect him to be gone for sometime.

I will be doing another post on Monday to make sure Pac-Attack is the correct game with confirming that game or give out the correct game.

As bad as North America is for vc game being released a week, Europe is lucky to get 2 vc games a week.

There are rumors of wiiware games being released in March. That might be part of the reason for having 2 games a week. I am saying that because NOA might be thinking that a consumer could buy so much a month with wiiware and vc games being in the Wii shop channel.

I think there is a chance that North America will be getting the game by the end of the month. I think there is a very good chance that Super Smash brothers will not be released next month. I am saying that because Super Smash Brothers Browl will be released March 9th in North America. Nintendo released Super Mario 3 in the same month as Super Mario Galaxy was released and Nintendo released Metriod and Super Metriod in the same month as Metriod prime was released.

The first new game console on the vc has been confirmed.

Japan will be getting Sega Master System games starting next month. The first two games are of the North Star (black belt) and Fantasy Zone. Black Belt will be for 600 Wii points in Japan. Fantasy Zone will be for 500 Wii points in Japan.

I am an owner the sms. I am able to give info on a good amount sms vc games when they come out since I own over 60 sms games. Some of the games I own will not be on the vc though.

There will be 1 Turbo Cd game release in North America next month. The game is Lords of Thunder. It will be for 800 Wii points. I will be looking forward to this game.

There will also be 1 hucard tg-16 game next month. The game is Psychosis. It will be for 600 Wii points.

Hudson is responsible for the website. The info is correct unless Hudson runs into problems with one of the 2 games.

I should get the info from Jsnake's post for Monday's games sometime tonight.

1080 is a good game that I'll download, but only one release next week? Meh.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the forces in charge of the Virtual Console are being rather stingy, teasing us, or both?

It is not just you.

I think they are trying to build up hype for the 200th vc game.

I bought it when it first came out and all the nostalgia in the world can't make that game good... My advice would be to pass.

I think it may have been the sequel, 1080 Avalanche for the Gamecube, but I'll tell the story anyway.

A couple of my friends worked for Nintendo doing playtesting/debugging, and 1080 was one of the games they had to work on. They basically described it as being thrust into the bowels of hell. They likened going to work each day and playing that game to the deconditioning sequence in Clockwork Orange where they pry Little Alex's eyes open and force him to watch atrocities.

If the predecessor is anything like the sequel that my friends worked on, let it be known that you've been warned.

GAH!!! Why the hell is the US getting rooked on the VC releases lately?! I mean... I might actually get 1080 Snowboarding, being one of the few games that I found cool when I rented it but never got around to picking up, but SERIOUSLY! There better be a damn good payoff or explanation for this lack of releases.

If you have an N64, 1080 can be easily found for $1-3 bucks. Decent game, but not worth $10, even if you hardly ever hook up your N64.

Nintendo is doing the same thing in Europe. There might be 3 reasons for the slowdown in North America.

It seems like Nintendo is trying to take their time for releasing the 200th vc game in North America or Nintendo was trying give gamers a hint that a game console will be having its games released on the vc soon. Those are the first two reasons.

The 3rd reason is Hudson is running out vc games to be released in North America for the tg-16/turbo cd and SNK is allowing a small amount of NEO GEO games being release on the vc. That is possible because there might be anywhere from 20 to 30 games tops that could be released on the vc. Hudson already released a big amount of games for the system. There was only 1 trubo-16 game released last month. There also is the chance that Snk is only allowing a small amount of NEO Geo games being released on the vc. I am saying that because Japan hasn't gotton a new Geo Geo game since November.

I am speculating that Nintendo will be releasing 3 games this week unless Nintendo decides make people wait longer the 200th vc game.

Man, what a lame week...one sorry N64 title.

Even if they are exhausting the titles from other non-Nintendo systems...the catalog of good NES and SNES titles could keep gamers busy and buying for years.

They need to work out a deal with Square and get Final Fantasy I-VI released as well as Mario RPG and other titles like Secret of Mana.

....And a large WTF goes out to there being no SNES Earthbound on the VC. That's one SNES game I actually do not own and would fall over myself paying out the $8 or so to get it on the VC...

I sure hope we see the Mario & Seiken Densetsus, but with Square able to get $30-$40 a pop for remakes and re-issues, why would they settle for $8 on VC?

Seiken Densetsu 3 in the import section would urge me to buy another point card, that's for sure. I'm also holding out hope for Holy Diver and Crysis Force for import NES... I still haven't dl'ed a game since Sin and Alien Soldier.

I still think it could be profitable for both the big N and Square to have these games on the VC lineup. I look at it this way:

1. Square won't be releasing a re-issue on the Wii anytime soon

2. Not everyone owns a Wii, they can still produce remakes for the other platforms/handhelds

3. VC games are plain old emulated titles, Square hasn't reissued a FF title in pure old school form for quite some time now, they normally do complete updated remakes with new graphics/content.

I know for sure I would pick up Secret of Mana, Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger if they were made VC titles...
