Hello,
My name is Matthew. I've been into videogaming since around 1990...a few years after my family got an NES in 1987. The other System's that I bought (or was given) new are my Genesis and N64.
It's only been the past couple years that I've really gotten into retrogaming...it started with downloading an emulator in 1998...after a while I got bored with emulation and decided I wanted to get the real thing.
Now I have the following game consoles:
(1) NES
(2) GameBoy
(3) Genesis
(4) GameGear x2 w/link
(5) Nintendo64
(6) Fairchild Channel F
(7) Atari 5200
(8) Atari 2600
(9) GameCube
(10 Odyssey^2
(11) SuperNES
(12) Dreamcast
(13) SMS
(14) Sega CD
(15) Atari 7800
(16) Sega 32X
(17) Saturn
(18) GameBoyAdvance:SP
(19) Atari Lynx x2
(20) Intellivision
(21) Neo Geo color Pocket
(22) PlayStation
[updated as of June 14th, 2005 for complete console/handheld list]
As for old computers I have an Apple IIGS, a Commodore 64 and a portable Commodore SX64.
The Commodore 64 was what got me into collecting old computers and game consoles. I inhereted mine just over a year ago.
I'd say that for Computers, the Apple IIGS would have to be my favorite of the ones I've ever used (either the real thing or emulation).
I'm going to say that the NES is my favorite game console for now.. When ever we have guests over I pull out Galaga just in case....
Oh and I almost forgot, I also have an original model Game Boy,
A Sega Game Gear, and I just recently got a Lynx at goodwill

I am known as Metrackle (real name classified for privacy reasons), and I live somewhere in Texas. I found this place six weeks ago (back on EzBoard) when lurking the Video Game Bible forums.
I have been playing video games since I was about three or four when I got my NES with Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt and Marble Madness. Some of my favorites include Actraiser, Galaga, DonPachi, Shinobi, Circus Charlie, and Bubble Bobble. I tend to prefer shooters and platformers. I usually collect for NES, SNES, Gameboy (regular, Color, and Advance), and Playstation, but I'll collect for other systems soon.
In my spare time, I either watch TV, lift weights, run, eat, play with my pets, or sleep. My favorite shows include Married With Children, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Red Dwarf, and Mystery Science Theater 3000. I'm somewhat of an insomniac. I have trouble sleeping during certain times in certain conditions. My pets include a black cocker spaniel (dog, female, over 14 and still going strong), an Australian Blue Heeler (dog, male, over a year old), a Golden Retriever (dog, male, under a year old), and a Russian Blue (cat, male, 8 years old).

G'day,
I am Lizard from Australia - Queensland. I am 31 y/o. I have just signed up. But I mostly frequent www.lemon64.com. A Commodore 64 web site.
I have been playing games since about 5 years old or so since I got my first Pong TV game machine. I haven't stopped playing games since.
I collect mostly Atari 2600, Lynx, Atari Computers, Commodore 64, Amigas, Vectrex CBS Colecvision, Game and Watches and those coleco tabletops. What I'd really love to get into is Arcade machine collecting but is too expensive and I dont have the space. :(
My first computer was the Commodore 64 and still love it to this day.

Gday everyone from Australia.
My name is Jason and I'm a 32 yr old game collector. I've been into this since I got my Atari 2600 in Christmas 1978. I still have it and still play it to his day.
While I work on high end computers in real life, my real love are the old systems I grew up with, a Vic 20, TI-99 and C64 and Amiga. And I can't stop collecting Atari, Intellivision and Colecos either.
And I hope I never stop :)

My name is Matt Roberts and I live in Southern California. I'm 18 years old and a sophmore in college. Everyone has that one system that they remember playing when they realized they loved games, mine was NES. I got my NES from my dad for Christmas when I was about 6 or so who had traded my mom a bicycle to obtain it. (divorced parents) My mom had originally won the system from a picnic that her work had that year. Mario/Duck Hunt was the pack in and Zelda was the other game I owned at the time. I still remember the load up of mario/duck hunt like it was yesterday. Zelda was my cream of the crop, my kung fu chicken, my burger and fries with cheese on top. I played that thing till my fingers bleed, well, maybe not bleed, but they were numb. I still remember yelling at my cousin for erasing my saved game on zelda, that little 4 year old bastard. But inside, I was thrilled to start the whole journey over again. I went through the "sell your games" phase as many did, and only really played the new stuff until around the first of this year.(2002) I was at a friends boyfriends house with my girlfriend picking the other 2 up to go watch a movie when I looked at 2 shoe boxes full of NES games he had on the floor, and I was taken back. I had only about 15 or so NES games total in my life at that point, and he had here about 45, and I was in heaven. I was so stoked as I thumbed throught the titles that I only dreamed of having as a child, and then it was done. I set a goal that day to find a nes system, and collect 100 games by the end of the year! I was on a mission! When I completed that 100 game goal in the first month, besides having an empty bank account, I had only a desire for more NES! The months went by, and so did the cash, and I have never had so much fun in my life. In the first month I decided that my goal had to be raised, cause 100 had come and gone. I found 2 lists of every nes game ever made, and combined them so that all the known variations were accounted for and was on my way. With an 18 year old's income, I have been able to acquire to this minute 603 unique NES games out of the 849 I have in my list. I have 300 unique boxes and 350 unique manuals. In all I have exactly 874 nes games, with 35 in the mail to me as we speak, and a database to tell me all this information at the click of a button. I sell motorcycles on ebay for my uncle and NES games on ebay for myself as my entire income. I used to be a pizza delivery guy, and recommend it to anyone who hates there job, cause it is the greatest. My goal now is to acquire 839 out of the 849 on my list by december 31, 2002, leaving the last 10 open for stadium events, the panesians, 6 in 1's, and the few I just don't come by. I plan to start a website eventually to sell these doubles I have here, and need to also get into trading more. Besided NES I have 11 other systems with 5 or so games for each. Not sure yet as to if I will get sucked into completing another systems library of games, but at this point, my focus is the NES! I hope someone somewhere reads this so it will be worth having typed it. ~Matt

Hi !
My name is Simon. I`m a 21 years old guy from Germany. My first game ever was Pong, which my father bought for my older sister. In 1986 I got a C64 and it really changed my life forever. Later I got a Gameboy, Master System, SNES ... and today I own almost every console + homecomputer ever made. Even today I enjoy a good round of Mars Saga, one of the best games ever made (IMO). My favourite genre are RPG`s, perhaps that`s the reason I don`t collect anything pre C64/NES, there just weren`t any real RPG`s on the 2600 or Collecovision :)
I chose my nick because of BoF4, as it was one of the few newer RPG`s that I *really* enjoyed. Right now I`m working to get my "Abitur" (don`t know what it`s called in English) done, so I can go studying and become "Master of Science" (heh, what a cheesy title :) ). Right now I have about 450 games in total and I`m buying as much games as I can afford.
I hope we`ll have many good conversations on this board
- Simon

My name is Brian McCarthy, and I'm from pittsburgh, pa. I'm 33 and am a proud father of 1. Anyway, I've been playing games since my atari 2600, and computer games since my apple IIe. I'm currently collecting dreamcast, nintendo 64, game gear, and intellivision games. I also love dungeons and dragons(but my group just disbanded) and a game called Frag, so if anyone in the pittsburgh area reads this and wants to play, drop me a line.

Sup guys, Big T here in Indiana. It is good to see a good collectors forum. I just happened to stumble upon this site looking for porn. Ok, not really.
I am a NES head. I have been picking up games off and on forever it seems. My wife hates my collection which is only a couple hundred strong but I make her deal with it. I should move it into her shoe closet.
Anyway, I work at the local Babbages and get to deal with the locals telling me I don't know what I am talking about, SOB's. Well thats about it.

I've been lurking on this Digital Press message board since summer of 2000 with no problem. But after the change-over, This board asks me to 'login' every time I try to view any posts (much to my chagrin). So I've finally been forced into registering and this will be my inaugural post:
I live in Calgary, Alberta and I'm 25. I started gaming on Christmas Day 1987 when I got a NES for christmas. I subsequently matured to SNES. Then around high school graduation I kind of stopped gaming and entered 'the dark ages' of my video game history. I don't think I played a single videogame from 1994 till 1999. Somehow, I thought I had to leave it all behind and 'grow up'. But when I started University in Calgary in '99, my roommate had brought his NES and all of his games. My gaming tendencies came back with a vengeance and now I'm a huge gamer and a bigger NES collector. Luckily, I had all my childhood NES stuff still buried in the attic when I went back to find it after the 'awakening'. That's my story, and I'm sure there are a lot more lost gamers out there just waiting to be awakened by us: the faithful gamers.

I am Geoff G**** of Minnesota.
I found this site mentioned in the collectors closet section of Tips and Tricks magazine.
I personally like the early zelda games, and Toejam & Earl games. oh and GTA3
I own about 10 systems.
They are:Commodore 64, Atari 2600 (Wood Grain 6 switch), NES(2), SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, PSX, PS2, & all versions of game boy.
I mainly collect for SNES, Genesis, and NES.
I am a student in 8th grade.
I began playing video games for as long as I can remember. From when my dad would hook up the Atari 2600 every now and then, to playing duck hunt and Super Mario Bros. on my babysitters NES and Genesis. My stepbrother later got an SNES which he bought 5 or 6 games for and later passed it on to me, which i have collected over 70 games and going.

Hey everyone!!!
My name is David, and I live in Louisiana, 'bout 45 mins from New Orleans. I am only 15 years old, but I am a collector of all things NES.
I remember playing SMB, and even after getting my SNES I would ask my dad to hook the old Nintendo back up...well my dad got tired of messing with the darn blinking box, and threw it away along with all my games!
Now I've purchased another NES and have about 120 games. My fav games have to be Contra and Battletoads 8) !

Hi, my name is Justin. I'm 19, live in the Cleveland area of Ohio, currently attending the local community college while trying to decide where to further my education.
First system I owned was an NES which I received for either my sixth or seventh birthday (or maybe it was later, can't remember). I now own:
NES
Genesis
Game Gear ($10, missing battery cover, but came with 5 games)
SNES
Gameboy
Gameboy Color
Saturn
PSX
N64
Dreamcast
and a Gamecube
I collect mainly for NES, SNES, Saturn, PSX, and Dreamcast. I found this board while searching for some info on my newly aquired Saturn. I keep a keen eye out for games devleoped by Treasure, and 16-bit Square and Enix RPGs.
I'm just getting started with the Saturn, so if you have any suggestions for imports or classics I should pick up, or any misc. tips, feel free to PM me. Currently, I own Nights, Guardian Heroes (Treasure!), Clockwork Knight 2, Darius Gaiden, and Baku Baku for saturn.
EDIT: Also, I DDR, but I'm not too good. (about a 5-footer)
EDIT -02/22/03): Bull! Bwa ha ha! Now I'm a 9-footer! Take that!
EDIT (11/27/03): And now I'm a 10 footer! What else has changed? I'm 20 now, have acquried a PS2, decided on Baldwin-Wallace college, am majoring in English with a minor in Vocal Music and am slowly learning Japanese! A lot can change in a year, eh? Also, my collection is now viewable from the WWW link at the bottom.

Hi, my name is Shawn. I live in (your guessed it) Canada. In the beautiful province of British Columbia. I have a wife and a 2 year old son with a second on the way.
I collect just about anything for any system. Whatever I can find at a garage sale or pawn shop goes into the collection. I rarely buy games on ebay or at games stores becuase of the higher dollar amounts. I prefer the hunt. There's nothing like coming across a 1000 in 1 NES multi cart in the wild. That just makes my week. There happen to be very few collectors in my area. As you can imagine that's a big plus.
There have been times when I had to sell my entire collection on ebay. Twice in fact, but no more. I am working on giving my collection a little direction. I will either star collecting for a single console or a specific genre. Probalby sell off some old & uncommon PC games and C64 games to get a cash reserve.
I heard of this site years ago but came back looking for a forum with older users (I'm 30). I'm so tired of video games sites populated by 14 year olds.
Thanks for reading
Shawn

Long time videogame fan here: I'm calloused, jaded and sick of gaming. I've played all the games I ever wanted to play: the old school beat 'em ups, shooters, fighters, action adventure games, and platformers. None of the new games do it for me: with a few exceptions, all modern games are in (badly done) 3D, and too elaborate for their own good. The golden age of simple gamelay has come and gone, and taken my youthful enthusiasm for gaming with it. It's a hard habit to kick, however, especially with gaming being a part of my life for so long. My current collection is a spectre of what it once was, but I'm still a walking encyclopedia of videogame knowledge, as I'm sure most of the other board members are. When not posting on the board, I spend my time finishing off my PimpStick Pro 8000 (TM) [tentative title]. It's an arcade-style joystick with an intergrated SFII/SNK button layout, and when it is done, it will work with EVERY SYSTEM. It's currently getting a facelift: I'm moving the guts to a new, heavy-duty wooden shell, and retrofitting the electronics for keypad support (so it can work with CV, 5200, Intv). As you might have guessed, I spent a couple of years of my life as an electrician, and know quite a bit about the insides of game systems and their controllers. My non-videogame related activities include inline skating, horrible guitar-playing, and freelance journalism.

Greetings new to the DP Forum! Long time visitor of Jag Interactive 2 and some newsgroups.
Name: Glenn Bruner
Live (currently): Vandenberg AFB, CA
Found the forum through mentioning by Joe Santulli during this past weekend CGE show. Question he asked me: "How come you don't visit DP's forum?" Didn't know it was there. Mainly visited Jag Interactive 2 since it's the most active for Atari Jaguar along with alt.atari-jaguar.discussion (but that has really died down). And Atari Age has some pretty good Jag discussion without the trolls that JI2 gets.
Favorite games. Love the Jaguar (if you can't already tell). Have a complete development setup for that. Also a fan of the 8bit Atari machines (own a 1400XL and 1450XLD) and 7800. Also enjoy the Dreamcast a whole lot (that is the newest system that I own). And just recently got myself a decent TT030 setup but still very new to the ST stuff.
Enjoy Battlesphere on the Jaguar. MULE and Star Raiders on the 8bit. Xevious on the 7800. But you'll find me doing more technical stuff than playing games. I do a lot to help John Hardie and company with various technical stuff related to some of the classic systems (might have seen the document I wrote to explain how to use the 7800 encryption software and the Jaguar Universal Cartridge Encrypted Header). I just recently was given a 7800 dev board that I need to restore to it's original condition (currently its wired as a 2600 dev system).
Collect for the Jaguar mainly. I have some other systems but tend to not really keep much for them. Hard to move around in the Air Force with a lot of stuff.
Real life job: I'm a Master Sergeant in the Air Force. I'm a Space Systems Operations specialist and work at 14th Air Force. We tie our history back to the original Flying Tigers of World War 2. And I'm slowly (and I mean slowly) pursuing a EE degree.
My Atari history really began when I was going to High School at Santa Clara H.S. My computer class teacher introduce me to Bruce Carso of B&C Computervisions. At that time I would help Bruce out with disk drive testing for when he was selling the B&C 810 disk drive. Also would go to trade shows with him on some weekends and help man his booth a few times. And years before that I used to play 2600 at the local Sears or go to a friends house to get some time on his 5200.
Didn't get my first Atari until September 1984. Bought a 800XL at the BX on Lowery AFB, CO. Paid $220 for it and then found out a month later I could've got it for $79. Went to my first assignment at Fairchild AFB (Spokane, WA) and built my 800XL up from there. Got my disk drive (810) from Bruce of B&C when I helped him with the transfer and disassembly of over 1000 Atari 400's that he bought from Atari (that was a fun week; got to run around inside one of Atari's warehouses seeing all kinds of treasures - that was February 1985).
Later joined the user group in Spokane - F.A.C.C.S - First Atari Computer Club of Spokane. Got more and more into the Atari. Met a lot of great people there. Frequent the thrift shops there (it was a gold mine during my tour there).
Acquired my 1400XL through Bruce. Obtained my 1450XLD from the Federated liquidation in Silicon Valley (friend from H.S. spotted it for me and grabbed it).
My first job in the Air Force dealt with electronics (avionics tech on B-52 bombers - tail gun weapon system). So that's were a lot of my technical background came from. Air Force has sent me to places like Spokane, Colorado Springs, Sacramento, Fairbanks, etc. Go TDY at times and visit thrift shops all over the country. Never been overseas.
I really enjoy digging into schematics and reverse engineer stuff. Also dabble into assembly/machine language in 6502 and 68000 / Jaguar GPU & DSP.
In a nut shell, that's me.
Glad to be on-board and see y'all in the forums.

Hope a crash doesn't eat this one...
I'm a newbie collector, old gamer. Been collecting 6 months. Brother in law got me started, when he sold me one of his 2 ebay acquired IntelliVisions. Then I bought an IntelliVoice from sylentwulf on E-bay. Then I couldn't stop..mostly sourced locally.. on the cheap:
Atari 2600 (woodgrain heavy 6'er)
IntelliVision with Intellivoice (2609)
ColecoVision with Atari changer
NES (front load with Zapper, and PowerPad)
SMS (original 1986 model)
SNES
Genesis (both types, Menacer, and heavy joystick)
TG16 (TurboTap)
N64
GameCube
Game Gear
GameBoy Colour (kids)
GameBoy Advance (kids)
and various games for each, many Inty, only a coupla rare.
I now mostly sell on E-bay. I am skilled with a soldering iron, and have had some great success fixing controllers and consoles. I've refurbished two Intellivisions, and two ColecoVisions, and made enough money on them on E-bay to buy the Gamecube! =) I hadn't planned on this being profitable, but hey, it changed the wife's tune on the hobby pretty fast! I'm after very console I'm missing, that's all. :D
I'm married, with 5 kids. I'm 31 years old, and operate vending machines for a living, plus do some PC building and LAN work on the side. I regularly haunt the Goodwills and thrift shops here in Edmonton, looking for treasure, broken or not. I found this place Googling a rarity list.
I hope to share what I've learned about repairs and such, and hopefully learn even more from the old timers here.

Some of you might know me from AtariAge or even Atarinvader.com, I've been collecting for over a couple of years now (is this sounding like an AA meeting?) and building up my website.
I'm currently unemployed and am trying to squeeze a few greenbacks out of eBay.
The systems that I currently own:
2600
Master System
Mega Drive (aka Genesis)
Dreamcast
Jaguar
Lynx
I've probably got about 200+ games in my collection, including some right little gems
Favorite game: BMX Airmaster (2600)
Least favorite game: Double Dragon (2600)
Likes: Food, beer and sleep.
Dislikes: Nintendo, R&B and Nintendo.
Hey all! Isn't this "in-ter-net" great? I stumbled over from a neighboring forum & may rest here awhile. A little about me:
Have loved video games since early 80s & still going strong!
Married w/ kids: Atari 2600, 7800, 800XL computer system, Lynx, Jaguar, Sega Genesis, PSX, & PS2 but consider myself a gamer more than collector.
Turn-ons: Anything Atari, forums that let me log on w/out disconnecting, games that don't "cheat"
Turn-offs: Anything Nintendo, slow computers, 3DO games (die, Crusaders of Might & Magic!!!)
Hope to be helpful & humorous to everyone here! -RJ

Hello,
My nick name is Shompola and my name is Sherman.
What I do? I am a CS student. A couple of years worth of school work left.
25 years old living in Sweden. Been exposed to videogames since I tried out Pong at a friends birthday party for the first time. Later on I was introduced to the Atari 2600 - What a wonderful system.
I am a big shmup fan and virtually play any sort of shmup and enjoy them. But so far Megadrive/Genesis is my favorite console for shmups and my all time favorite console to date.
Right now I have:
Atari 2600(the second version?)
NES
BootLeg Famicom, a green one.
GB
GBC
SMS MK II
Megadrive Jpn from 1989-1990. <- So far it can read any games I have tried with our without converter.
Multimega(the CDX in Europe)
Snes
Playstation
N64
Dreamcast
Gamecube
How I found this place? I searched for shmup+ezboard on google and found it. Pretty luck :)

Hi everyone
My name is Jon, I'm 31 years old, live in the UK, and am married with a baby daughter. I work as a college administrator. I've been visiting the DP site for years .. finally got around to registering today.
I've been playing games for as long as I can remember, and have been actively collecting them since 1995.
My favourite system is the Colecovision (I contributed to the Coleco section of the new DP Guide). I am now just one cart away from having a complete set of the released games - the one game I still need is It's Only Rock & Roll, so if anyone wants to trade or sell me one, do get in touch :)
Once I've got my hands on that one, I'll be aiming to get all the boxes and manuals I don't already have (I probably have about 70% of them at the moment).
I also collect carts for the Vectrex, Atari 2600, Atari 8-bit computers, Megadrive (Genesis), SNES and N64. I also have a Playstation, Dreamcast and Gamecube.
My favourite games are

Hiya,
My name is Bohus (BOH-hoosh) in real life. I met Joe Santulli over the weekend and he got me to join this board! I'll be 31 in a month and I got into videogames in 1982 or so when I won a local contest and first prize was an Atari 2600. I've never been terribly good at throwing things away so I've kept my 2600 all these years.
In high school, newer games were off my radar (heck, my family only got a color TV a few years earlier), and lots of my friends just gave me their old Atari stuff as they upgraded to the NES. I was still playing Atari in college alongside my Amiga computer (the Amiga is such a fantastic gaming machine that I never felt the need to pick up a dedicated console).
I had amassed such a pile of 2600's that I put on a massive Atari Party in 1994 or so. All three floors of my house were running Atari. We ran out of TV sets, but were still entertained by several bands and Warlords Arena- four Atari's side by side with 16 people playing elimination rounds of Warlords until we declared The Warlord.
Throughout college and later, I discovered the miracle of thrifts and picked lots of other consoles for next to nothing. I think that my friends got sick of playing old games, so they got me a Dreamcast- my introduction to advanced gaming. I love the DC way more than I thought I would.
I don't collect for any particular system obsessivly. Mostly I have Atari 2600 stuff, but I have pretty healthy collections of Intellivision, Coleco, Odyssey 2, and Sega Master System. Nothing rare or of much value. I mostly like weird games- stuff that's far off the beaten path like the SMS 3D games, or Caution Seaman on DC. Anything that shows imagination.
My favorite games are 2600 Kaboom!, Synthcart, Warlords, Pitfall 2, Freeway, and Kool-Aid Man. On the Dreamcast they're Seaman, Samba De Amigo, Jet Grind Radio, and Crazy Taxi. On Game Boy, it's the Camera cart.
As for a job, I have my own production company for television & film. Mostly I make corporate and educational videos that no one wants to see, but that's all changing this fall- got some interesting jobs coming up. The only thing of mine that anyone might have seen is a commercial that I did for American Science & Surplus in Chicago.
I do a lot of writing as well, both technical and creative. I have a regular spot in a popular Chicago-based webmagazine, but used to enjoy having columns in newsstand print magazines some years back.
I also play music- that's what "Gulag Picture Radio" is... the name of my "group". I've played piano for years, but find myself wheezing away at the accordion and cheap Casio keyboards lately. I also LOVE the music cart for Atari- "Synthcart". I can safely say that Paul Slocum's cartridge has totally changed my life. I've also got the homebrew music carts for Game Boy and the music synthesizer add-on for Intellivision.
If any of you are fans of "Baldur's Gate", I did some voices for some popular homebrew expansion packs that just came out. I don't play the game, I just engineered most of the sound and added a few voices to the main game. I do voiceover work from time to time and would love to get into the game world with sound editing and voice work.
Oh, and I have a "Carnevil" arcade cabinet (because one of my best friends did all of the background graphics for the game) and an old "Cleopatra" pinball. I'm not rich, I just know how to garbagepick at the right time. Oh, and I paid WAY too much for an Atari Video Music once... it's heaven. :)
Yeesh, this turned out long. Hope that I can prove interesting enough in the future to be worthy of this much space!
Hi, everyone.
My name is Matt and I'm new here. I've been reading posts for awhile, though. Let's see, where to begin? I'm 20 years old and I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I collect games for the NES mainly, but also the Genesis, SNES, Playstation, Game Gear, Game Boy, Neo Geo Pocket, and most recently, Atari 2600.
As a kid, I was infatuated with video games and devoted almost all of my spare time to them (what was left of it went to comic books). But, as I got older I sort of grew out of them. This was honestly probably due to the fact that I didn't want to be considered a nerd. About a year and a half ago, however, I got to play a Playstation and was reminded of what I was missing. I dug out all of my old systems which had been collecting dust in my closet and hooked them up. The first one I wanted to play again was the NES, my favorite system as a kid and my current favorite today. Next thing I knew, I was hitting up all of the flea markets, pawn shops, and garage sales in my area in an attempt to find all of the games that brought me happiness as a child. But, I couldn't stop there. You know what I'm talking about. The whole collecting thing is very addicting. I'm now broke and have since turned my girlfriend onto the whole thrift store/garage sale scouring lifestyle as well.
Aside from collecting games, I collect records (mainly hardcore punk and some metal, but none of that radio crap) and play in a band. Audio recording is also a hobby of mine. I love to cook (vegetarian food, that is) and I love to travel. Hopefully, I'll be a welcome addition to the boards.

Hello,
My name is Scott and I live in Surprise Arizona.
I do not remember how I found this forum but I have been around for years now.
I can't say I really have a favorite type of game. Just any game that is fun.
I am trying to focus on collecting Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Odyssey 2 and Intellivision. But I will not pass on a good deal for any system.
In "real life" I am a computer tech at a medical college
I began collecting sometime in 1999-2000. I have always had my Genesis. I then got a Playstation and Dreamcast. I then took back an Intellivision from my brother (we had it since I was a kid).
Then my Grandma gave me a Atari 2600 Vader model with about 70 games.
Talk to you in the forums.

I'm Melanie Hoyle, aka geekgirl101. I'm 24 and from Stockport in England. I don't have a job yet, love to have one. I specialise in web design and run a couple of game community sites.
I found these forums after I got an email to update the link to this board on the VGS webring.
I'm a die-hard Dizzy fan and have my very own Dizzy shrine right next to me. Pictures to follow. :D I also collect Blitz Games and other retro games produced by the Oliver Twins. For some strange reason I collect Final Fantasy games too, even though I'm not overall keen on it. Must be because I have a Seiken Densetsu fansite....
I'd list all the systems I currently own, although I don't want to take up too much space on this page if I do so. ;)
As for what I do outside the four walls, I go to church, Linux user groups, the occassional nightclub and geek bar, any local cannabis campaigns, and Greenbelt (a Christian rock festival for all those who didn't watch Songs of Praise last week , and for those who did you were greatly mislead. ;))

I guess the most recent site outage ate my original introduction.
I'm Alan, age 30, from Cleveland. I'm a lawyer. I don't remember how I found the forum, but I'm glad I did. The forumers here are friendly and knowledgeable.
I like games in which you shoot things. Fortunately, several video games of this type have now been released.
I'm collecting for Atari 2600/7800, NES, Genesis, SNES, Saturn, PSX, Dreamcast, GBA, and PS2. I've got an N64, too, but I don't think having two games for it (Perfect Dark, Conker's BFD) counts as "collecting". I generally only collect games that I think I would like to get around to playing one day (e.g., retirement?). This means that I don't get sports games or RPGs, although I fully respect the rights of other *people* to enjoy such...*things*. (OK, I've got a soft spot for 2600 Realsports Football. Unalloyed nostalgia, I guess.) I don't think of myself as a "completist", but I do have most of the arcade game ports released for PSX. I'll know that I've crossed over to the dark side, though, the day I finish "NAMCO" and buy Namco Museum Vol. 5, which contains only games that I'd never played, seen, or heard of. At that point I'll know the disease is terminal, so I'll probably start importing Namco Anthology, too.
I grew up on the 2600, but I only started collecting this year. In fact, I didn't even play any console games (strictly arcade and computer) post-crash until I got a PSX as a wedding present (wedding present!) in 1997. It took me THAT LONG to get over my D-pad aversion. (Why didn't anybody TELL me that they made a joystick for the NES?)
Even so, the PSX just sat in a corner for a few months after I got it until finally Colony Wars (the first one) got its hooks into me. It was the beginning of the end once again, thank goodness. Once I finished school and got a job, I realized that even after the student loan payment I had a couple of dollars left over to pick up some used games (no, not enough to get new games). And that I could pick up a Genesis, a Saturn, and a Dreamcast for about $100 TOTAL. And I discovered that from 1983 to 1997 I had missed several good games, and I thought that maybe I should check them out...
Anyway, I've found that when you get more than a couple of games a month in the mail, it's better to have them delivered to work and then smuggle them into the house. The cats haven't ratted me out yet, and I keep buying the economy size tubs of catnip.

Hi. My name is Chris and I'm a computer animation student who devotes too much of his time to playing old video games. I'm a big fan of adventure games like zelda and final fantasy, but I'll play about anything. Sometimes my friends call my Guybrush Threepwood, because apparently I resemble him. I am also a mighty pirate. At the moment I'm into old nintendo and arcade games. I'd like to get into newer games as well, but until I graduate and get a job I'm po. My girlfriend and I just beat bubble bobble on the nes with "the good ending". Cursed level 57.

Zettaijin
10-15-2002, 02:33 AM
Currently residing in Montréal and hailing from the cold northern nights I am known by one of two names - Asplagis or Zettaijin.
I was a member of the old EzBoard version of the DP message board but failed to make the switch over to the new version out of a lack of time.
Seeing as the owner and operator of DP is a pretty spiffy fellow who came to post over on VALIS more than once, I figured I owed him. Thus, I'm back with my own brand of peculiar analysis of videogames and related issues (i.e. VR/Polygons vs. 2D/representation; a certain lack of creativity in the current video game world due to the oversaturation of capitalist think tanks within the industry).
As far as videogames go, I'm quite fond of the Super Fire Pro Wrestling series as well as many more obscure Japanese SNES titles such as Clocktower and Demon of/Diable de LaPlace. I also enoy a good RPG from time to time, though I find that too many are overlooking the potential for politically charged storylines such as those found in game like Fallout II and its obvious but still interesting anti-U.S./Bush stance.
Outside of videogames you'll find me discussing Marxism, Anarchism as well as other political theories, defending non-essentialism and deconstructing reality - that's when I'm not running from riot gear-clad policemen/women during a protest.
I also happen to to enoy Dario Argento and David Lynch movies and my musical tastes are odd to say the least...
Any other questions?

I'm Deano, currently 26 years of age and my first memory at age 2 was of a Grandstand/Fairchild channel F. Gives you an idea of the type of person I am
Games are my life, no I really mean it. Been in the 'business' for over 5 years as a programmer. I started collecting about 2 years ago and have managed to acquire 30+ systems and hundreds of games from Pongs to Gamecube.
Google found this site (I've lurked for a while).
The worst thing is all the things I didn't collect back then (why didn't I keep my CD player? It was a Dreamcast DevKit for some time). I also make a habit of storing various cancelled projects I've worked on, unfortantely I have a tendency to mislay the CDs.
I also know more about video games hardware (both old and new) than is healthy.
I almost forgot to mention I live near Cambridge, UK

Hey, my name's James, I'm a 20 year-old male from central Ohio. I've been playing video games ever since I was an infant (no kidding, I beat my first game when I was 2 or 3. Deadly Towers for NES, with the help of a NES Advantage. Heh).
I'm a really big Sega fanboy, and it really shows sometimes. I've been playing Sega games since the Master System, and I also play just about anything else I can get my hands on.
I've seen Digital Press before on the web and in print form (including the nice plug in an EGM), but never bothered to register to the forums. I felt like doing so now. :)

OK, to the intro!
I'm Steve, residing in Austin, TX, and run INTV Funhouse. I hail from Wisconsin, and after moving to Austin, rediscovered my passion for Intellivision after too many years of grad school and no money.
I hang out on r.g.v.c. and can ramble on about the Inty all night.
The Atari VCS - or, as you latecomers insist on calling it, the 2600 ;) - is also special to me, but only for getting fun games to play, not collect. I've been meaning to pick up a Colecovision and Odyssey^2 for some time now, but never seem to find what I'm looking for.
So, that's all, folks!

p.s. When not defending the DP homefront, I collect stray video games. Releasing them from the clutches of the would-be thrift store villains.

- Watertown, NY (ugh...)
- Forgot
- That's kind of hard
- SNES, Dreamcast, Genesis/32X, PC, Saturn, PSX, etc etc
- 9th grade student
- I'm only 15, and it all started around '93 (or was it '92) when I got a Sega Genesis for Chrismas. I became a fan of games, but didn't get addicted till '96 when I got my first compute.
I'd play tons of PC games, then I became a PC only person, because I was bored with console games for the next 3 years. I found emulation in '99, and slowly (but surely!) I became more intrested in console games, and then I bought a PSX in 2000.
I've since then started to collect old games, but it's hard in my city to get games. I make do with what I can get. Yet, even more depressing, I have no job or allownece, but I still make at least $50 a month. I do a lot of other things in my spare time. Like: spend time with family, write, play soccer, watch Super Sentai, etc etc. Oh yeah, one last thing. I post news for a site known as "SegaFans".

Hello, I am the Notorious Spoon!
What's that, never heard of me? ok maybe I'm not so Notorious, maybe quasi Notorious.
I'm 19 and I've been gaming now for about 16 years! I'm pretty sure I was born with a controller in one hand and a light gun in the other. My first game was Super Mario Bros. 2 and the last I bought one was Bubble Bobble 2.
I once bought Dash Galaxy for the NES for $50 when it was new, I'm convinced that game is the meaning behind life.
I just recently got back into collecting NES games and have over 500 titles, I'm almost there on my complete NTSC collection. So Hi to whom ever reads this and Hi to those who don't.

Who am I? Well I'm a Penn State student ... I should be graduating this spring but of course being here has me on the 5 or 6 year plan. :-)
Where do I live? Happy Valley... State College, Pennsylvania.
How you found the forums: Googlie Google.
What systems do I collect? Well, I'm a NES-head, but I've been getting into a lot of other systems lately. Mainly Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Colecovision, Intellevision and the Oddsey 2... Althought I do dabble into collecting Genesis carts too. I'm hoping to branch out and pick up a lot more, but money is tight.
What I do in real life? Well, besides trying to come up with excuses to NOT go to classes ... I work for a Residential Computer helpdesk. Basically I listen to students whine about their silly problems and how important they are ... then I fix them. It can be fun at times. :-)
Oh well, I figured I'd shoot out a post here to get it out of my system.

Hi all, I go by the name of DEBRO. Some of you may know me from the AtariAge message board. I have visited here many times but I had never registered. Currently I live in Atlanta, GA.
I got back into the Atari scene when my son was born. I noticed my nephew liked video games (like his uncle :)) but I thought the PSX had too many buttons for a youngster. I also didn't want my CDs to get scratched.
I bought an Atari7800 and my love for those games came back instantly. I think I play it more than my son :)
Later I found that people were developing for the system. I always wanted to do something for the 2600 so I started reading and got a love for getting Stella to do anything.
I don't consider myself a collector. I see myself as a game player. If a rare cartridge finds it's ways into my hands, it will get played.
I have a love for other retro systems as well. My list consists of:
Atari2600
Atari5200
Atari7800
Colecovision
Atari 8-bit
Nintendo 8-bit
Sega Genesis (my favorite)

My name is Jonathan. I'm 19, live in Wisconsin, and am a student in the cursed UW system. I've been gaming since I was 8. I played lots of NES at my friends house. At age 12, I secretly bought an Atari at a garage sale for $5. My parents had always deemed video games evil, so I had to keep it at the grandparents house. After much deliberation, they finally caved and let me buy a Nintendo at 14.
I was an avid gamer through high school, but college has taken a bit of the fire out of my gaming. I'm too poor to enjoy the new systems, and Whitewater (that's where I go to school) has nothing in the way of gaming anything, and it's in the middle of nowhere.
I still own a toploading NES, and a PSOne, but for a while I'm just a casual gamer. It kinda sux, but hey, so does college.
Right now my favorite games are Lunar and Lunar2 for the PSX. Great games.

My name is Luiz Bonaccorsi, I live in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The first time I hearded about the Digital Press was with my friend Ianoid. In fact, Ian was one of the first guys who I met using the Internet.
I try to collect only the best games, for each system. I like strategy games, shooters and action games. I do not like fighting and sports games.
I don't care about having more than one of the same console (with different styles, colors, shapes, sizes, etc). I like to collect the games.
I collect from Atari to Xbox (not all the systems, only the ones that I really enjoy). I have about 800 games.
Some of my favorite games are: Adventure (2600), Tarmin (Intv), Montezuma's (CV), Contra (NES), Gate of Thunder (PCE), Alpha Mission 2 (NGCD), Tempest 2K (Jag), Road Rash (3DO), Master of Monsters, Star Control, Dune 2, Toejam & Earl (Gen), Silpheed (SCD), Space Megaforce (SNES), Galactic Attack (SAT), X-Com (PS1), Turok (N64), Frequency (PS2), Halo (xbox)...
I work with insurance (broker) and I sell brazilian games on Ebay.
Greetings from Brazil,
Luiz Bonaccorsi

Hello, my name is Matt and I'm a rpgaholic. I enjoy RPGs more than any other game. If you have an RPG question or need of an oversight in a game, I'm the man to talk to. I play games from Adventure to Dragon Warrior to Morrowind.
I am 21 and own a small ice cream/snow cone shop in Louisville, Ky called Summer Snow. I've had that copywrited so I'm waiting for someone to try to steal it.
I'm very honest sometimes, almost on the verge of being untactful, so if you can stand my view on the world we are all good.
I'm also an emulation geek. I think it's the best thing still fried chicken. So before I go any futher I will say this, emulation is a medium to test the game before you decide to pay for them. This has saved me a few chucks not wasting money on subpar games.
I also have a found saying of the phrase, "Blazing Apple" and "Uberl33t". Must be the Everquest Player in me.

I've been collecting since the days of yore. Started in '94 when I sighted an Atari at a flea market. I remember my first 10 carts and the little holder I made for them. That was when it started... you all know what I'm talking about... the... "sickness". Yes, my closets are now full of games for every system as well as my storage space and garage. I'm saddened to say that I purchased an IBM PS/2 "portable", circa 1988, and that I'm actually going to keep the thing. There is not stopping me now! Luckily I'm a student right now and lack of funds keeps me from getting too out of control, but I fear the day when I'm working and making good money and start flipping out on ebay. Ok, nuf said... nice to meet ya'll.
