Hey everyone, my name is Dylan and I'm 19.
I live in Australia, I found these forums though Google actually, i was looking into the Neo Geo side of things and it popped up in search lol.
Hmmm.... my favourite games? I have many favourite games across a few systems, just to name a couple, Super Mario Bros, Zombies ate My Neighbors, Battletoads (NES), Super Mario Land (SNES), Comix Zone (Mega Drive) and Kingdom Hearts series (various platforms). My love of video games started when i was little and i first got my top loader nes, I still have that top loader but I've since got other things.
I was never much of a collector until a couple of years ago when i got my hands on a Mega Drive II (I actually had one when i was 7 but traded it and a bunch of games off for a nintendo 64....silly silly silly was I.) The Mega Drive has since become one of my favourite systems.
The consoles i own and collect for now are:
Master System (not so much)
Mega Drive
Nes
SNES
Saturn
Dreamcast
PS2
PS3
Gamecube
PSP
3DS
PC Engine.
I've recently been on the hunt for a Neo Geo AES, i know they can be pretty expensive but I MUST have one, i also wouldnt mind finding a decent atari 2600 at one point as well, not so much a priority :P
At the moment I'm supposed to be studying for my HSC in real life but It really isn't working out lol. Looking for work at the sametime as well.
Some other interesting facts about me could be that I really love to write, I used to write alot of fanfiction, I've since moved on to original fiction and I have plans for a children's book.
nice to meet everyone!

I'm not so great with introductions, so I'll use that handy question guideline that's in the first post.
- Who you are
I'm Chris.
- Where you live
Tennessee.
- How you found the forums
I typed 'retro video game forum' into Google, and lo and behold, here I am.
- What your favorite games are
Dragon Warrior III, Final Fantasy V, Lufia II, Phantasy Star IV... I've honestly yet to play an RPG that I didn't at least like. Even the ones that are widely regarded as terrible.
- What systems you collect for
NES, SNES, SEGA Genesis, Nintendo 64. At least, so far. I'm looking to expand into more modern areas.
- What you do in "real life"
I'm an aspiring wildlife biologist/veterinarian/author. Hopefully, I'll actually become all of these things when I finally go back and finish my last couple of years of college. This fall, maybe? Fingers crossed.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Except for a couple of years when I was a small child, I didn't game that much in my youth. I didn't actually take up video gaming as a hobby until I was in my mid-20s, so I lack a lot of the nostalgia that other people have.

It took me half an hour to register for this forum because I've never played Halo. I like Playstation and love Nintendo (but wish they'd get rid of motion sensor controls and pencils for their handheld systems).
Anyway, the third answer to join the forum (Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John-117) should change.
Guess I'll have to buy an X-box.
How about:
1. Whose the main protagonist of the original Castlevania?
And honestly, isn't Simon Belmont cooler than the dude from Halo? If you gotta use a spaceman for an answer, go with Issac Clarke from Dead Space. He's much more bad-ass.
Nice to be accepted though. Thanks for having me.

Hello everyone. My name is Jose, I am from Spain, I am 43 years old. I have known about Digital Press for so long that I do not remember when I first heard about it. I have even visited the store a few times, the last time was about four years ago. I remember I bought a brand new Famicom 3D glasses. I have been playing video games since the Atari 2600 age and I have been making a living of it since 1991.
I do not take part in forums but I like this one and I sometimes feel I can give useful information thats why I have decided to register.
I personally collect Atari 2600 games.

How's it going my name is Jordan but you guys can call me Jo, I am 21 years old and I just recently got into retro gaming . I don't remember how I found this site but I'm glad I did ! I am from California, the systems I collect for are the Gameboy all versions, NES, Snes, Genesis, and the dreamcast. It's weird I didn't grow up with 8-bit or 16-bit systems because they came out when I was really young, I actually grew up with 32-bit and 128-bit systems ! The first system I ever got as gift was the sega saturn ! I don't have a job so I have alot of free time so I just game.

Hi,
When my mother bought a new house, I went over to help move. I found my old SNES in the closet! It was buried under coats and old boots.
I got it home and set it up, but the a/c cord was frizzed. So I bought a new one online, picked up Super Mario World, and I was back into the old system.
The SNES was the system that (in my childhood) opened the door up for gaming. The NES proved enjoyable for hours, but seemed so limited. So this system brings back some great memories and still offers great gaming.
I don't have a lot of other collections, so I told my wife I was going to start collecting SNES games. At first I thought I'd grab any one dollar game I could find on eBay, and start stacking them up. But after a few "dud" games (Wings 2 and other Madden games), I decided it'd be better to collect complete games: the box, the instructions, and the cart.
So far I've picked up about 20, all on eBay and the local pawn store. I really enjoy searching for the games and spending time playing old classics, such as Desert, Jungle, and Urban Strike.
Any advice for a new SNES collector?

My name is Kate, as you may have noticed from my user name. I'm 28, live in Denver, just got married last year, and am definitely not one of those women who make their husbands get rid of all their games...I buy more than he does! I've been gaming on and off since I was a kid, though most of my early years were PC gaming oriented - we didn't get a console until my parents bought us an N64 when I was between 6th and 7th grades.
Currently in our hardware collection are: NES, original Gameboy, Sega Genesis, N64, Gameboy Advance, Dreamcast, a modchipped PS1, 2 PS2's, XBox, Xbox360, Wii, 2 Nintendo DSes, and 2 PSPs.
I mainly collect Survival Horror games for all systems, even ones I don't yet own. Last count I had about 34, so not everything yet, but I do have most of them for PS2. We've got quite a few RPGs as well - I've become very fond of the Persona series lately, and classics like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana are always fun. My husband likes a lot of FPS and action games (I can't really play too many things that spin around a lot - I tried to play Half-Life 2 but it made me motion sick two chapters in and I had to stop before I vomited). I also like platformers, and weirdo surreal games - Katamari Damacy for the WIN.
Aside from collecting, I work a day job in customer service that allows me to play games all day while I talk to morons on the phone. It's delightful. Anyway, I'm pleased to be here, hi!

Hey there, my name's Mitch. I'm 17 I recently got into the serious collecting of this retro game stuff and I am really enjoying it. Some of you may know me from NintendoAge as well. So, a bit about me...
I love and collect for every system and don't have any specific preference, but if I had to name my favorite system it would probably have to be the Nintendo 64.
My all-time favorite games include the Zelda series and Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie.
In real life, I go to a performing arts high school and hope to go to college for multimedia. I enjoy skiing, tennis and writing.
:) Anyway, I guess I'll see you guys on the forum!

Hello everyone, my name is Gavin and I'm from Ohio. I'm 14 years old and have been collecting retro video games for the past 2 years.
The reason I decided to use these forms was because I wanted to talk to more people about retro games. At school there are only 2 people I know that like retro games and I don't have much time to talk to them.
My favorite games are:
Super Mario Bros. Series
Bioshock - Xbox 360
Halo Series
SSX 3 - Xbox
Fusion Frenzy - Xbox
Pokemon Series
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Xbox 360
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - Gamecube
The systems I collect are:
Nes
Snes
Sega Genesis
Nintendo 64
Atari 2600
Sega Master System
TurboGrafx 16
Sega Saturn
There also may be a few more that I forgot
(I do have more systems but I don't really collect that many games for them)
In real life I'm just an average Freshman in high school. I also do have a retro video game channel on YouTube and it's called oldschoolgamergavin.
I don't really remember how I started retro gaming but I do remember in the beginning I watched a lot of The Irate Gamer and AVGN, then finally I started collecting after a while.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!:)

Good afternoon to all of you fine folks. I am your friendly neighborhood Psycho here and do I have some good stuff for you!
I am a 22 year old college student who likes to waste time by playing games and making videos when I'm able to. I just had a hardware failure so nothing really insane for the near future, sadly. My first game system was a SNES I got for Christmas in '94, a bit late yes. After that I moved onto CD gaming with the Playstation, I was too young to really have diehard brand loyalty to anybody yet. I moved onto the PS2 and currently have the PS360 setup. That's not counting some of my other systems though, like my recent Sega finds.
For money I fix systems for a locally owned video game store that carries everything from the Channel F, through the Jaguar, and all the way to our modern luxuries and beautiful hardware of the PS3 and Wii. Yes we have 360 too, but I said beautiful hardware in my previous independent clause. :)

My name is Jeremiah and I've been working in the video game industry for 7 years. I live in North Hollywood and have attended the EVO Championship series a few times. I've also been to CGE which is a great place to buy games.
I found the forums through another collector. Learned a lot about prototypes and other gems.
My favorite games lately have been Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Lufia 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and a bunch of classic NES games in between. I own almost every console, a arcade machine, and other stuff.
I collect Ninja Gaiden releases for any system. Merchandise too.
Trying to get a Ninja Gaiden JAMMA with a Marquee, OG Sticks, and Bezel right now. Looking for other people who also happen to collect crazy rare stuff.
I've found some good NES game lots at Swap Meets and Thrift Stores when I started. Don't know how it is now but you might want to check it out when you have time.

I honestly can't recall, but I've been familiar with your website for a while now, and I've been to the last two NAVA meetings.

I've been a long-time fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, even if it is an empty shell of what is was. I also enjoy Nintendo games, especially from the N64 era.

Basically anything, but I'm mainly interested in SEGA consoles.

02-27-2012, 03:33 PM
Hi, I'm Kabrelle, though I also go by Seby online, I'm from North America and found this place after researching into physical repro's of Starfox 2. I am 20 as of this posting, and I don't collect for a single system more than I collect for video game series. My favorite game series are Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Pok'emon, Sonic the Hedgehog, and my all time favorite, Starfox. Starfox is the main series I collect for, as I have a ton of merchandise, all the games, and even go as far as owning my own site and having actually interviewed some of the voice actors of the series. Even though the newer games of some of those franchises seem to be subpar, I still remain loyal to them, probably due to nostalgia. I find a lot of games today to be really unappealing so I often resort to playing my old N64, though I'll admit to liking the newer Fallout games. I don't do to much in real life other working towards becoming a writer and studying web design on my spare time. I hope that's enough about myself to stand for a decent introduction. :)

Hi ladies and gentlemen,
My name is Nick, I'm 27, and I'm from Canada, where I'm a high school science teacher. I grew up with game consoles like the NES and the SNES, and kind of got away from gaming when I was in university as I didn't have a lot of time. When I graduated, I got back into playing my old systems, particularly the SNES. Therefore, I started buying games again for it at flea markets, on eBay, and at pawn shops. I really only buy games for the SNES, and I buy them to play. My favourite games for that console include Rock N Roll Racing, Chrono Trigger, and Yoshi's Island.

Hello kids, my name is Tyler but I'm better known as TC. I'm just your typical jobless video game nerd. Once upon a time, I had grand ambitions of starting a computer company out of my garage or dorm room but Steve Jobs & Michael Dell had beaten me to it.
These days, I don't do much except play video games and watch TV most of the time. I have an unhealthy obsession with old side scrolling beat-em-up games, especially those made by Capcom. I also like RPGs (not the new Final Fantasies) and RTS games. I don't have a particular favorite game, although Streets of Rage Remake comes really close, if there was some way of porting over to a PS3.

Hello..
My name is Robert, but you can call me by my username if you like.. 'Random431'.. or just call me Random.
I like all classic games. I like modern games too, but not as much as the old ones.. and I always find myself going back to the good ol' classics.
I particularly like playing the hidden gems.. you know? - The old underrated titles that not many people heard of.
I have a youtube channel, which I might post later. It's mostly of let's plays, which involves me acting like a bit of an idiot.
Well that's it. That's me.

Hey everyone,
I'm 37, and live in LA, CA. I started on an Atari 2600, worked my way up to a Coleco Adam, then went for a Commodore 64. I also had NES, and that was just the 80's. I love vintage games, especialy RPGs like Ultima, or LOTA. I am the producer of a web series called "Deeds Of Yore", It was selected to screen at the LA Web Series Festival 2012 in April. It takes place in a C64 RPG game. Check it out if you like
www.deedsofyore.com (http://www.deedsofyore.com)
I'm into emmulation, especialy for C64. I think SNES might have been the perfect game system. I'm not too into new games, although I'd like to try Skyrim, because Morrowind was so good.

Hi everyone, my name is Nathan. I live in upstate New York and I love me some vidya.
I've been a long-time reader here (unregistered), but I thought now was the time to join. I suspect I am younger than a lot of folk around here (19) but I love classic gaming as much as the next person.
My collecting was birthed from a hoarding tendency. I decided I was no longer going to trade in games that I had finished, or even not finished but only needed what they could give me toward a new game. That helped me build a collection of over 100 X360 games. I got into classic gaming just before the opening of a new local game store. I can't claim it to be nostalgia because I never had game consoles when I was young, only a PC. My passion for older games is great though. I now collect for every system I own, which is pretty much all of them.
I have gotten to know the people at my local shop pretty well over the last year, and I plan on taking an internship with them this summer, in addition to my regular job.
And uh, that's me I guess ;)

Wow I waited 2 months after joining before remembering to post in here :P Well this is who I am:
AN INTRO:
Hello my name is Anthony Gigliotti (Or Anthony/Antonio/Tony to my friends. Feel free to call me any of those if you want:))
I am 14 years old and have been retro gaming since I was 13. I know I am relatively new to the retro scene but I have surprisingly in depth knowledge of classic games.
MY STORY:
My retro gaming habits started 1 year ago when I realized how little fun my Xbox was to me. I had remembered playing an N64 at a shore house when I was young, and longed to play Super Mario 64 again. At the time I already owned a Dreamcast (which was my favorite system at the time) and thought that an N64 would be like it and would be a fun little system to put in my room with my new (well new to me) 12" TV my grand-mom had given me for Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised when my brother and 2 sisters chipped in to buy me an N64 for my thirteenth birthday, and I searched the internet to find the most fun games for it and had a blast with it. I was a huge Nintendo fan, so I did a little researching and found out there was a system before the N64 (Oh god, just thinking about how much of a Noob I was back then @_@). I was happy next Christmas when I got a Super Nintendo with 6 games! After that I did some REAL researching (I'm talking 2 hours a day) untill I knew about virtually every game system and how well it fared. Well here I am now with a Dreamcast, N64, NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1, Monochrome Gameboy, Gameboy color Pikachu collectors edition, Super Scope light gun, Zapper light gun, and about 700-800 dollars worth of games and other accessories. I have become a small scale collector in just one year, and I am extremely proud of my accomplishments. I am the envy of the kids at school :). So trust me when I say, even though I'm young, I know what I am talking about.
MY FIRST SYSTEM:
The first system I played was my Dad's Atari 2600 (I am still pissed at him for selling it!)
MY FAVORITE SYSTEM:
My favorite system is either my SNES or Genesis (16-Bit FOR THE WIN!)
MY OCCUPATION:
I am still a student. I also create my own games using Game Maker 8 and my own music using FL Studio and my Guitar, Drums, Keyboard, and voice.
MY FAVORITE GAMES:
Most of my favorites are 2 player games and Nintendo, Sega, Atari etc. games. The list is WAY too long. I have pretty much stopped caring about Modern Games and I have devoted myself to classic gaming.
AN EXIT:
Well that is a little about myself. Please do not underestimate me just because I am young! I am ready to share my knowledge as I have researched almost every system out there. Do not hesitate to make a sale with me either, I may be young but I know how to handle sales and I do have a PayPal and an eBay account. I AM THE YOUNG GENERATION, AND I AM STILL INTERESTED IN RETRO GAMES!

Hello all.
My name is Jody Baxmeyer and I live 18km outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Both of my parents who resided in Alberta have recently passed away. While going through the process of cataloguing their possessions my brother and me came across dad's old PC game collection.
We are in a bit of a bind financially and have to find items to sell in order to pay back the money we had to borrow for funerals and for the continuing effort of fixing their home in order to have it presentable for sale....this is important as their debts can only be paid back by selling it.
I am a member on Reddit.com and it was there in discussions with others that I was prompted to come here as a potential place where these games could get exposure and hopefully sold.
I hope I haven't come across mercenary, I haven't a lot of options or time for that matter. I am willing to answer any questions anyone may have of me and appreciate anyone reading.
I'll follow this with the catalogue of games.

Hi everyone,
I'm Heidi and I'm from Sweden. I found this forum through a friend commenting on my blog and recommending this site.
Favorite games.. I can't really choose just one, or two.. or 5.. there's too many! I can say what I've been collecting the most, which is NES and Sega Mega Drive and Virtual Boy. Virtual Boy because it was never released here in Europe and I found it intriguing and then it just became an obsession. The NES and Sega Mega Drive because I played those the most when I was a kid. I never got any games when I was young though, that's probably why I've grown an obsession with collecting everything now. I have over 40 systems and about 1600 games. Every Nintendo and Sega system, and also some Atari and all the new things as well, PS3, Wii, Xbox and so on.
Of the newer systems I prefer to play Xbox 360 (cause I'm an achievement junkie, and also all my friends have it so we chat over Xbox since we don't live close anymore).
I've also recently started collecting Famicom, and Famicom Disk. Got the systems in november last year and have a bit over 200 games for it now. I really like it since I've also studied a bit of japanese it's a good way for me to practice and keep it up :) I also just bought the Super Famicom, but haven't got too many games for it yet.
I unfortunately don't work with games, it would had been fun, but I still enjoy my job. I'm part owner of a manufacturing and sales company where I work with graphic design, internet marketing, web design and also human resource management. So it's a very varied job ^_^
Game genres I like are puzzle games, platformers, action and arcade. I also play some fps games, but what I prefer is games that are short, I don't like when they just add hours to gameplay just to make you think it's harder to beat, I therefore like retro games since they are challenging but if you've mastered them you can beat them in an evening. I don't have time to play all those rpgs that take 150 hours to finish, so I've unfortunately missed out on Skyrim, Fable, Mass Effect and all those other games that everybody is talking about nowadays, instead I've beaten most XBLA games ^^
I recently started blogging about my interest in retro video games. You can find the link to my blog in my signature.
Feel free to ask me anything, I don't bite ^_^

Well, I failed at making a good 1st impression... My bad.
Hey, I'm new here... I'm hoping I become a better addition to the forums than what you expect me to become.
My favorite game is Luigi's Mansion and my favorite console is the Gamecube... Here's to hoping for good things

Hello, my name is Slayter and I have been reading DP forums for a long time but have never registered. The video gaming knowledge of the people who post here is amazing and I can always find something interesting.
I live in Baltimore, Maryland and have been playing games since the NES. I work in IT in real life. I am a big Nintendo fan but like most others I have owned many, many systems. I still own about 10 consoles but I don't have the space to get into any serious collecting. I am mostly a player, favorite genre: JRPG.

Hello my name is Redknight802 or Red or Redknight, whatever makes you happy to call me. I am 19 years old. I found the forums when a friend was telling me about digital press and i researched it on google in curosity and found these forums. Some of my favorite games include Kirby 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Spyro The Dragon 1,2 and 3. The Kingdom Hearts Series, The systems i collect for are: NES,SNES,N64,PS1,PS2,GB,GBC,GBA,Sega Genesis,Dreamcast, Windows 95/98 PC Games, In real life i like to Use and Operate Cameras and Make Videos about many things. Any time i have a camera i like to film video. I began collecting when i saw a youtube video about how you could find old video games at thrift stores, garage sales, and retro video game stores. I mostly used this as a way to obtain video games i played from my childhood and that path became bigger after i discovered other video game consoles. Id love to work in the field of Broadcast Production operating cameras after going through 2 years of a Broadcast Production Class in high school. I usually find most of my retro games at thrift stores, garage sales, pawn shops and retro stores. I think my favorite find was Kid Icarus for $4.00

I'm Holy, from the US. I've been lurking for a while so I thought I'd join and contribute some. I love learning about older games and systems, and I'm starting up collecting on various systems (just SNES, DC, and PSX for now). Favorite system? Don't have one, love 'em all. I also LOVE playing pinball and arcade games. I'm actually trying to get some funds tucked away to build my own arcade cab.

I'm thebeeks, longtime lurker, first time poster.
I'm 25 and from Flower Mound, Texas. As a kid, my family's shoddy financial situation meant we were always a good chunk of years behind the video game scene (got a Super Nintendo for Christmas '97!), so I have a deep respect for the stuff people discard as soon as the new shiny toy comes out.
I'm into quirky games of any era, I have an unhealthy obsession with the game Gyruss, I've got about 550 games at the time of writing, and I'm currently a wage slave at an insurance company.

Hi everyone I guess I will tell you a little about myself. My name is Matt, and I love games although the time I have to enjoy them has gotten to be less and less over the years. I'm from the U.S. and CT to be exact yes the nutmeg state who no one ever hears about. I'm a college student but that will soon change this coming May. Anyway I started with the Genesis got an N64 and Game boy color, as well as a PS1. That is pretty much the extent of my knowledge console wise with classic games. I know I know I didn't get to play the NES when I was younger. It really is a shame for sure. I hope I can contribute to this forum in a positive manner and look forward to taking part in some good threads!

- My name is Jeremy Shartzer.
- I live in Leitchfield, KY
- I have enjoyed the online rarity guide here for years and finally decided to join the forums.
- My favorite games are Megaman 2(NES), Mine Storm(Vectrex), Legend of Zelda: OOT (N64), Legend of Dragoon(PS1), and too many more to list.
- I collect for all systems. The gems of my collection are conversation pieces. Things most people don't know about (Sharpe NES TV, Miracle Piano, Bible games, etc.)
- In "real life" I am a computer technician. I also raise cows and hay. I live on about 200 acres in the middle of nowhere and wouldn't have it any other way.
- As for interesting facts, I play frisbee golf and skateboard. I like punk rock, irish folk music, and bluegrass. Videogames are the glue that holds my hectic life together. I started collecting immediately after I got my first NES. The only two games I ever got rid of were Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (worst game I ever played) and P's Attack (really bad arcade game(got $450 out of it though))

Hi!
My name is Paul. I'm a 22 year old living in Boston, Massachusetts and I currently am student at UMASS Boston. I found out about digital press some time ago when I found out about the collector's guide, which I soon purchased (the advanced one, the classic was sold out).
It's hard to name exactly what my favorite games are, but my top list definitely includes A Link to the Past, Toejam & Earl, Street Fighter II Turbo, Bastion, Ocarina of Time, Shenmue... I just realized I can go on an on forever
I particularly collect everything from the NES to the Dreamcast, but I also pick up some more modern games. When I was younger my parents made me sell my collection, but I recently started collecting again. It's a small collection, but I'm working on it. I love shmups and fighters, and I also play a lot of PC games. I also love going to thrift stores and gaming stores, though the latter is hard because I don't drive.
As stated before, I'm a student at UMASS Boston, I'm a Music major, and I will be going into education in the future.

Hello everyone,
My name is Tom from Belgium.
I ve just registered on this forum to get to know a bit more on various arcade systems. I am 38 and used to play arcade games to about 20 years ago. I then transferred to pc-gaming. I am about to purchase a neo-geo mvs cabinet, this is the main reason for signing in here.
I am being the game cabinet for my job with 10 to 15 year old kids who only know playstation and wii games. I think it is my responsibility to teach them some old school games.
I am also looking for a game i played on an arcade machine somewhere around 1989 -1991. It was a 2d jump and run game in which the main caracter (to my recollection) was a fury white round shaped creature. It had to run, swim and jump. It also could shoot spike things to open hidden gates and it could hit other creatures with it. Anyone any idea what this game was?
Happy to be here

Who you are?
Hi! I'm carbz413, or simply Chris.
Where you live?
I live in the North East of the United States. More specifically, I live in Connecticut.
How you found the forums?
While browsing online, I cannot remember what I was looking up, I stumbled upon this website a while ago. More recently, I found this website again while finding some information on the Sega Genesis.
What your favorite games are?
I like RPGs like Final Fantasy (the older ones, not the newer renditions), and the old school Dragon Warrior/Quest games. I like the Kingdom Hearts series as well. I also like the Metroid series.
What systems you collect for?
I have a collection of games for the Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, and PSP. I have a smaller collection of NES, SNES, and Genesis games.
What you do in "real life?"
In "real life," I am a student in college that is almost finished with my graduate school classes. I am in the middle of an internship, and am aspiring to be a teacher.
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc?
I like listening to the soundtracks from some of the video games, and I find the classics from the NES to be enjoyable.

Who I am: My name is Kendra, I'm in my early 30s, married, and I live in Maine.
How I found the forums: I actually visited the brick-and-mortar Digital Press store in New Jersey earlier this year, and that led me here.
Favorite games: I have many favorites...most of them being considered "favorites" because they were games that I loved as a kid, either NES or SNES...the Super Mario games, the Zelda games, Earthbound, Tetris, some of the Capcom Disney games (Chip 'n Dale, Duck Tales), Bump 'n Jump, and so many more. There are a number of DOS-based games, as well, that I would consider among my favorites, such as F-19/F-117 Stealth Fighter, the Space Quest games, lots of shareware-type stuff (Duke Nukem, Commander Keen), etc.
I collect for: NES, primarily, though I have started casually collecting for the Atari 2600 as of late. I have several other systems, including the SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear, N64, PS2, Wii, and Commodore Amiga. Eventually, I'd like to get a ColecoVision, Intellivision, or both, possibly a Master System as well.
In real life: Finishing up my undergrad in archaeology, and then hopefully entering into a Masters program.
I also collect music, both in vinyl LP and CD formats.

2. I live in New Jersey, about two hours south of the Digital Press store. I went there for the first time yesterday and was in awe of all the awesomeness the store had to offer.
3. I stumbled on the forums when looking for a good price guide for SNES games.
4. My favorite games are the Metroid series, the Zelda series, Smash Bros. series, but I enjoy almost any game.
5. I collect for any Nintendo system. The games just bring back so many memories, and I get nostalgic anytime I power up any Nintendo system.
6. In "real-life" I have done many things, but I am currently in school to become a history teacher.
7. I enjoy trail running, and being outside in nature as much as I love being behind a controller. I started collecting in the last year but it has been a fast moving snowball rolling downhill, I can't seem to collect enough.

Who you are
My name is Paulo and I'm 16 years old.
Where you live
East Coast of the US in Raleigh, NC.
How you found the forums
My interest in collecting brought me here.
What your favorite games are
Don't really have favorite games more like favorite series. Some include:
Pokemon seri(Generic)
Megaman Battle Network series
and the Harvest Moon series
But I guess if I had to choose an all-time favorite game, it would have to be Pokemon Crystal.
What systems you collect for
I collect mostly for Gameboy, but I might start collecting for the N64 soon as my next console.
As for other systems I have, I have a few including the old Xbox, 360, and PS1/3.
What you do in "real life"
Still a sophomore in high school :3
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Began collecting due to nostalgia, just like everyone else basically. I had remembered my old Yellow Gameboy Color that I had as a child and I missed it dearly ever since my mom sent it away to my cousins, never to be seen again. So ever since the around March 30/31ish I have been collecting for the Gameboy/GBC/GBA systems. I also hope to expand my collection through great forums such as this one!

I'm mostly on NA and SA. But decided to expand here.
I'm all about SEGA. Decided to complete the entire US Library for all SEGA systems.
With Dreamcast being on the top of my list. It's my favorite SEGA system and collecting the entire Library factory sealed. Never going to grade it, just keep it like that on my shelves. Also doing the variants.
I hope I get to meet cool peeps as I have done at SA and NA.

Hello everyone. My name is Robb. I live in the good ole USA. I found the forums thru a google search looking for information on retro games. My favorite game at the moment is Modern Warfare 3. I collect for NES, Super NES, Genesis, Dreamcast, N64, PSone, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. I'm a healthcare professional in real life.
I got back into retro video games again earlier this year when I found a mint and complete Sega Genesis system in the trash as I was jogging. That one event inspired me to get back in old school gaming and create a fansite: SNES HUB (http://www.playingwithsuperpower.com)
I'm here to talk about gaming with like-minded people. Hello!:)
Who you are?
Andy.
Where you live?
In Virginia.
How you found the forums?
Well, I was looking up places to discuss older video games and somehow ran across this site, which looked like exactly what I was seeking :)
What your favorite games are?
Gosh, too many to name. A few that spring to mind are the Contra series, Robotron (and Smash TV), Civilization, Pirates, Pressure Cooker, Metal Slug, Star Wars (arcade game)...
What systems you collect for?
I'm not really much of an active collector, to be honest. I have my old systems and games - Colecovision (with Atari adapter), NES, Super NES, Genesis, Jaguar, Xbox, Xbox 360 - but I don't actively seek out new stuff very often. I just like playing and talking about great games.
What you do in "real life?"
I write for a small nonprofit magazine. Very dry, narrow subject matter :)

Howdy. I'm RetroRage, aka JACKxSWAGGER on XBL, aka Aaron IRL
Where you live?
Seattle. Don't move here, this city has a "can't do" attitude and the hipsters make me want to kill myself.
How you found the forums?
Recently started getting serious about building my nerd room and I'm looking for an active community to chat with. Stumbled across this place, hopefully it's worth my time :)
What your favorite games are?
My modern gaming has slowed significantly, but I'm a big fan of Forza, Soul Calibur, Modern Warfare to name a few. Of course a big fan of the classics for Nintendo and SEGA, both of which I'm focusing the majority of my collection on.
What systems you collect for?
Anything I see I'll keep, but right now I'm focused on SEGA and NES. But I do have a total of 10 systems and am pushing over 250 games.
What you do in "real life?"
I work for a local not-for-profit picking up clothing/household item donations in neighborhoods and in clothing bins throughout the Puget Sound. I love my job, and I find plenty of gems in the wild that way!
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc?
I've tried to get into many other things in my life in an attempt to "grow up", but nothing gives me the same feeling that video games do. I'm a big fan of LPs, primarily NCS. I've been dating my gf for 6 years, so I guess I'm not a total loser lol. Also in to working on cars, Seattle sports, whatever else.
So that's me. Well, kinda.

Who you are?
Hello, I am cochlearmom, or Erin, either is fine...
Where you live?
I live in beautiful Lake Tahoe, Nevada/California border.
How you found the forums?
While I was online researching a few game systems from my youth, specifically systems from the late '70's/early '80's.
What your favorite games are?
I like my PS2 system and I enjoy playing Frogger and Tony Hawk; however, as of lately I mostly play games on my iPhone. I have never been good at the games, especially as they have progressed over the years! I remember not being very good at Pong. I'm looking forward to hooking up the old Atari and the old Bally/Astrocade systems because I'll probably be good at those games now, 30 years later! :)
What systems you collect for?
I'm focusing on the Bally Computer System games right now; originally we had all the released games and then some, but now I am missing a few carts and am thinking about replacing those.
What you do in "real life?"
In "real life," I am a mom first to my two children, my daughter who is ten and my son who is seven. My children are a full time job, but I also do bookkeeping for a flooring company. I am co-president for the start up chapter of California Hands & Voices, which is a parent driven support system for parents of deaf or hard of hearing children. The name "cochlearmom" was created because my daughter, who was born profoundly deaf, is a bilateral cochlear implant recipient. Getting her diagnosed, learning sign language, speech therapy, special ed services, advocacy, and so on has consumed my life since she was born.
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc?
I grew up in Silicone Valley and my mom worked in the semiconductor field. The company she worked for in the late 70's/early 80's had some type of contract to package the Astrocade game carts and do the shrink wrap; we were so lucky to get the system and every single game! She was the supervisor, however she was right there next to her staff doing the production work. She worked swing shift and she told me that her employer was saving on energy costs by shutting down the A/C in the evenings. The packaging of the carts was set up in a small room with no ventilation and no air conditioning, she said the fumes from the shrink wrap was horrible, but they didn't really know any different back then. It was truly a sweat shop! :) Pulling out this system in the last few weeks has brought back a lot of memories, it has made me realize how much these old systems had built a foundation for the PC's that came later, I have always been very savvy with both hardware and software.

My name is Johannes, I am 22 years old and I live in Norway!

My collection isn't really based around one system, but I primary want to collect for the NES and GB/GBC/GBA now, and maybe some SNES in the future.
Besides being a gamer, I work in showbiz. I am a stand-up comedian, actor, juggler and magician and this is what I do for a living, so I am pretty happy with being able to do what I want!

Hey all! I just wanted to say 'hi' & introduce myself. My name is Gabe. I'm a 30-something retro-gaming enthusiast & at one point was a collector, but can no longer afford the cost of acquiring & maintaining actual hardware. Regardless, I haven't let it stop me. Emulation of course, keeps my hobby alive. And I love seeing new games come out for or are inspired by older systems, by all the avid hobbyists & professionals that still adore the systems of yesteryear.
My first system was the Atari 2600, which my father won as the prize for being the top salesman on the car lot he worked on. It was one of numerous prizes he won for various contests on the multitude of car dealerships he worked for over the years. I have fond memories of playing games like Combat, Pitfall & Pitfall II, Enduro Racer, Ms. Pacman & others, but I was far more enamored of computers & the NES.
My father eventually went onto networking & computer sales and we got a family pc--an IBM AT 286 clone. It only had a monochrome screen with Hercules graphics adapter & wasn't so hot for playing games. I remember using some program that somehow tricked the PC into thinking it had a CGA adapter, & allowed you to use CGA games & apps on it. Regardless, everything I had was shareware & pretty much sucked. Eventually I did some odd jobs at my father's business & saved up enough money to buy a VGA adapter. I got in trouble many a time after that for missing chores, playing games like Quest For Glory I-III, Space Quest I-V, King's Quest 5-6, The Red Baron, Wing Commander, etc.
Eventually I also got my own NES, though for years I would brag to everyone how much better my PC games were than the ones people were playing on the NES. Still, PC games were expensive, I didn't know all that many people who had new PC games I could copy, & the hardware requirements for newer games got steeper & steeper as they came out. It became a serious battle to have enough funds for both new games AND new hardware. Eventually I just gave up. With an NES I could just rent all my games & not worry about having to buy them all or new hardware upgrades.
A few years later, I got myself an SNES for similar reasons, not to mention it had seemingly amazing games like Super Mario World.
It took me a while to figure out my favorite game genres. As a kid I loved Sierra adventure games, but as I got older they started to lose some of their charm. I discovered in fact my favorites are western rpg's (& the odd jrpg, though primarily action/rpg hybrids)& metroidvania's. I love the Metroid series of games, but really, ANY metroidvania is fine for me, as long as it's good (Soul Reaver: Legacy of Kane? Hello!). And the picture for my profile avatar is ripped straight out of one of my all time favorite DOS rpg's, Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos.
These days, as I mentioned, I can't really afford the classic gaming hobby hardware-wise, so I do most of my classic gaming via emulation. But what peeks my interest even more these days, rather than just playing the classics, is new games made for or inspired by classic systems. I've recently been playing a buggy but highly enjoyable freeware title for PC called "Treasure Adventure Game". It's a dynamite metroidvania, inspired by classic game consoles like the NES and Sega Master System. If you can put up with the bugs & get it to run, I'd highly recommend it. Otherwise there's others like Lyle In Cube Scector, Akuji The Demon, Cave Story, etc.
Anyway, if you made it this far, thank you for reading my intro! If you'd like to swap stories of what's happening in the classic & classics inspired game dev scene, hit me up! I'm always looking for more things to get my hands on & happy to share what I know, & knew things as I discover them.

Greetings citizens of Earth...
Who you are?
I'm PantherUK aka Chris...
Where do you live?
I'm in England, UK... About 20 miles north of London...
How you found the forums?
Googling for info on my MAME project...
What your favorite games are?
Seeing as I'm nice and ancient, well 40 lol, a lot of my favourites hark back to the Commodore 64 and the arcades of the 70's/80's/90's...
On the console front I'm a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, FPS's bore me now, been there and done that with Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, no need to play the same game over and over... ;)
What systems you collect for?
I'm building an X-Arcade based MAME cabinet and I currently have in the house between me, the Mrs and the 2 kids:
6 PC's (2 desktops, 3 laptops and a netbook), 2 PS3's (one has a badgered blu ray), A Wii and a PS2... In the loft, currently sleeping I have a Commodore 64, an A1200, a Master System and a busted PSOne...
What you do in "real life?"
In real life I work in a distribution centre part-time and I have another part-time job as a tattooist, which is currently on the back burner...
I'm more of a reader and lurker, soaking up information, than I am a poster, but you never know, if something draws me in I can post with the best of them..!

I am Alyssa, 26, from Northern Colorado. I found the forum trying to find a place to talk to retro gaming & fans of M.U.L.E.
I like games from Brick Breaker Excitebike Yoshi's World to Donkey Kong Country series to The Sims to Harvest Moon to Zelda to GTA's to COD's.
Systems Include (between my husband and I): Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, GBC, GBA, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo DS & 3DS, PS2, PS3, & XBOX 360.
My real life job is a Web Designer & Developer and I recently began an internship with a video game company called www.DreamQuestGames.com (I've done some work on their website for their kickstarter program (@_@http://www.alphacolony.com@_@). I'm newly graduated and excited to join the real world doing what I love. :onfire:
How I began collecting is probably the respect & appreciation of old things taught to me by my Dad growing up. (He says he's a pack rat, but he keeps the important things :) ) I've always loved video games. I remember being >5 years old playing Super Mario Bros. NES in my childhood home while my parents blasted Journey. Great memories of video gaming with my Daddy when I hear them. :)
Look forward to chatting with any and all gamers. I love all kinds of games and am always interested in trying new ones.

And I love seeing new games come out for or are inspired by older systems, by all the avid hobbyists & professionals that still adore the systems of yesteryear.
Just was perusing for retro gaming fans and noticed your love for seeing new games out inspired by older systems. I wanted to mention my bosses project to revive M.U.L.E. for a modernized world. I'm currently doing the website work for AlphaColony A Tribute to M.U.L.E (www.alphacolony.com). We as a company have obtained licensing rights from the original creator's family and have began game design and graphics. They started a kickstarter (http://kck.st/KJREBJ) project (which I'd never heard of prior to interning here, must have been living under a rock from what I've heard. LOL) and are looking for support to be able to release this game across a wide-array of platforms. Thought maybe you'd be interested since it's an oldy but a goody and could come back after 30 years! Let others know. I'm super excited to play this game but it won't happen unless we get the funds raised.
I hope this isn't seen as spam. I'm really just trying to reach fans who could be interested and haven't heard about the project.

I was actually looking for this topic on my first day, but for whatever reason, I didn't notice that it was a sticky in the Classic Gaming forum.
---
Hello everyone, my name is Andreas and I go by the online alias Esquire Fox. You can just call me Esquire. I live in Randleman, North Carolina; The NASCAR center of the world! Of course, it only makes sense that I have no interest in the sport what-so-ever.
I found these forums when they were recommended by a fellow local collector. However, I didn't actually join until much later when I discovered that there was a trading section.
I am a collector of all things Video Games; from the old and obscure to the new and fancy. My shelves are stuffed with everything from Odyssey to 3DS. I am particularly fond of collecting NES games, and I hope to have a relatively complete collection some day. If I had to pick a favorite game from my collection, it would be Okami for the PS2.
In real life, I am a full time College student with a part time job. I am fortunate enough to have very understanding and supportive parents. They are almost as involved in my video game collecting hobby as I am. My video game collection spans 14 shelves and wraps around a quarter of my entire room, with my systems and various other memorabilia arranged along the walls. Like most collectors with full time commitments, I have some trouble finding the time to sit down and play my collection, but when I do, I always have a blast.
I am a Swedish immigrant. I was raised in Sweden where my love for the video game medium was kindled. I still have all my original PAL version SNES and Megadrive games and consoles. Part of the reason I started collecting was because I was unable to play many of my PAL games correctly when we moved to the states. I started small with an NES in my youth and slowly began gathering old games as I went through my teen years. When I graduated from high school and got a job, the flood gates opened and I began actively searching for and buying older games at flea markets and on craigslist. Watching online videos by classic game enthusiasts like the AVGN and Classic Game Room sparked my interest in other systems I had missed growing up (like the Jaguar and CDi), as well as consoles that were before my time (like Atari 2600 and Odyssey).
It is great to be here and I hope to have many fun and interesting conversations with everyone!

Hey everybody, my name is Ryan and I live in a little known city called Waldorf, Maryland.
I can trace my discovery of Digital Press back to 5th grade (I'm 20 years old now), reading an issue of Tips & Tricks magazine, my one and only favorite gaming mag. They featured picks of the store, and ever since then it has been my dream to visit the store and such. Sadly, that day has yet to come . . . So it's better late than never to get on here and chat with some/anybody who loves gaming as much as I do.
I'm entering my 3rd year of college this fall and have been gaming since age 7. I've been seriously collecting for probably 4 years now, and have a humble collection of around 350 games.
Some of my favorite games are Fire Emblem, Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros, too many to mention! It all started with Vectorman on my neighbor's Genesis.
I try to collect for a lot of different systems, SNES, N64, Genesis, Dreamcast, and all current and last generation consoles. Hoping to get into Saturn and TurboGrafx 16 collecting someday. Collecting for me focuses on good games, of course! It's quality over quantity for me, and a box and a manual will make or break a deal.
