SNES, N64, GENESIS, DREAMCAST, PSX, PS2, SATURN, even PC. Just starting though, only a couple hundred items total.
- What you do in "real life"

I started collecting strictly for sentimental purposes, I became excited a few years ago when I realized that all the games that brought me endless hours of enjoyment in my youth were available for my purchasing pleasure by way of eBay. Hence began my quest to complete a collection of nostalgic entertainment electronics. My biggest and most proud find yet was when I snagged a copy of Final Fantasy VII GH in a KMART a year ago. Boy, the memories!

By clicking on the forums link? Haha.. I found Digital Press.. Jeez. I can't even remember, I've been using the website for so long..
- What your favorite games are
My favorite games? Well, the Mother series is my #1 favorite, beating out everything else out there. Other than that.. Soul Calibur series, I'm a huge Soul Calibur player. Resident Evil, especially 4.. Heart of the Alien, X-Com UFO Defense, I always had a soft spot for Rainbow Islands..

NES, Sega Master System, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, N64, PSX, 3DO, Dreamcast, PS2, XBOX, GameCube, various other..

Collecting began when my dad first started buying video games for us. I have many that are originally the ones I had as a child. Never stopped, never slowed down.
I'll be writing a column in the Midwest City Sun about Video Games starting January!

- How you found the forums
I was having nostalgic video game memories (as i sometimes tend to have) and I searched "blockbuster video game championships" in Yahoo and I it linked me to a thread someone started here pertaining to the competition back in 94 and 95, the golden days of gaming in my opinion.
- What your favorite games are
I am not a big gamer now a days (despite the fact in a home of a lot of people we have a xbox 360, ps3, nintendo WII and the list goes on) but out of the handful of games I play now a days - Socom, I have played this series since it was released back in 2002 I truely believe this is the first time I have been hooked to a video since mortal kombat/street fighter days!. So I play socom 1, 2 , and Combined Assault, Any sports titles, sports compact racing games, once in a while call of duty 3 and I believe that is it.
- What systems you collect for
PS3, XBOX 360, Nintendo WII, NES, Sega Master System, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, N64, PSX, 3DO, Dreamcast, PS2, XBOX, GameCube, various other..
- What you do in "real life"
Currently working in a huge office performing computer maintenance, software upgrades and going to college for marketing.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I mostly collect SNES related material I was the video game guru in my area growing up in the 90s as a teen, nobody could defeat me I have received competition cartridges from blockbuster to special nintendo Star Fox cartridges because of me being so good and being rewarded not only money, prizes, trips but the cartidges themselves i kicked BUTT on back in the day.
I am thinking of starting a retro gaming site dedicated soley to the invididuals who cannot find information, images, videos of the 90's gaming era, especially when it comes to competitions, because gaming is strong in this new generation but it's not the same as it used to be. The site will help relive memories of how it was to be a kid, how thrilling it was to compete store to store, nation wide and so forth, just a fun site for people as myself who feel the years just went by in hyper speed, lol.
- Who you are
I'm AVE aka aventus or even hoerny sometimes. Don't confuse with "horny".^^
- Where you live
Germany, land of endless laws restricting video games. Well, what is internet for? Getting forbidden DVDs and Games :D
- How you found the forums
I know the Digit Press page for a couple of years now (BTW I think the old "Room of Doom" section was better, although it were less pictures) and always wandered around in the RoD-section. A few days ago, a friend linked me to a discussion with Adol and thats how I finally ended up here :)
- What your favorite games are
There are lots of games I like and that I have played a lot, so I can't really answer that question in a satisfying way :(
I'll try anyway:
Shenmue
Gradius (all versions)
ESPGaluda
dodonpachi DAI-OU-JOU
Ikaruga
Super Star Soldier
Lylat Wars (StarFox 64)
Halo
Resident Evil 4
GTA 1, Vice City and San Andreas
Those will do :)
- What systems you collect for
In general all SEGA-systems and ALL japanese games/hardware. Unfortunately, such an interest is hard to afford for a student :(
- What you do in "real life"
When I'm not busy with collecting video games, I study japanese or even for school which I don't normally.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
The start of my japanophilia was -of course- a japanese video game. I bought Soul Calibur for 9$ at play-asia because it was cheaper than the PAL-Version. What a mistake. I fell in love with the japanese letters, spine-cards and general style (orange/white) immediately. All in all, thats how that whole thing started (collecting japanese games/systems, learning japanese, travelling to Japan...) =)

Hi, I'm 20 years and on the most german boards, I'm just "retro" ^^
- Where you live:
I live in NRW/Germany
- How you found the forums:
I was the one who gave the guy in the posting above, the link with the Adol discussion. I just heard about it, from another collector and then looked up the forums.
- What your favorite games are:
Hmm favourite games...
I guess
- Resident Evil 2 (psx)
- Castlevania Symphony of the Night (psx)
- Super Castlevania 4 (snes)
- Super Metroid (snes)
- Akumajo Dracula Chi no Rondo (pce)
- Street Fighter 2 Turbo (snes)
- Mega Man X (snes)
- Super Mario World (snes)
there are so much more games to mention, but this would take too much space.
I love the Castlevania, Resident Evil and Mega Man series, and all sorts of shooters and survival horror games.
- What systems you collect for
I collect for almost every system, except the newer stuff like ps2,ngc,xbox,360....
Actually, I haven't fixed myself on something special. I'm doing a Castlevania collection, and after that, I'm trying to get alle the must-have titles for each system. Sometimes I even buy trash games which i actually dont' need. ^^
- What you do in "real life"
Currently I'm doing some sort of "coummunity service". After that I will finally go to the university.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
About 5 years ago, when there allready was the ps2 era, I somehow managed to get out my old and first system ever, the Game Boy, and I fell into some sort of nostalgic trip. I startet to collect every Game Boy game I was able to find and with the time it started with other systems like the SNES, which is still my absolute favourite system.
As I stumbled over the old Room of Doom website years ago, it gave me also some pushes and I startet to spent all my money on systems, games and merchandise stuff. Well, until today ^^

Just started getting BACK in to console gaming after a long hiatus to PC gaming. Never really collected untill this year when I bought Dracula X for Saturn, and THEN bought a saturn system. they I started buying cool games for that, and got the interest to keep my good games and stop selling them. I only casually collect. My first goal is to own all US released Castlevanias, and eventually get everything Castlevania related that I can find.

What you do in "real life"
In 'real life' I work for a video game developer called Infinity Ward (http://www.infinityward.com). We develop the 'Call of Duty' franchise for Xbox 360 / PC and all next-gen consoles. In my free time, I also started The Console[r] (http://www.theconsoler.com)which remains a mystery until launch.
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I've been an avid gamer my entire life, and an un-official collector of all things video games for that entire time, however what started the 'official' collecting of it all was when I traveled back home for the holidays and was poking around the old homestead.
I discovered an original Sega Genesis + Sega CD with a whole boxful of games that had been left there. I immediately fired it up and started playing the old classics. They were all in perfect shape and had just been stored up for safe keeping. I shipped it back to California along with some other old gaming finds from back home and then began to organize my collection once I returned, adding new things that I'd lost or was missing from my collection [i.e. Favorite classics, A/V cables, etc.]
I also run a blog called Fourzerotwo (http://www.fourzerotwo.com), its more of a personal blog, but also talks Vid Games business from time to time, but always in the vein of general video game topics.
I look forward to chatting with all of you!

- How you found the forums

- What your favorite games are
Xenogears, Final Fantasy VII, Psychonauts, Micro Machines
- What systems you collect for
I tried Sega CD for a while, but once I got around 30 games, I realized about 25 sucked so forget it. Maybe I'll collect Saturn soon though!
- What you do in "real life"
I make copies. Wow.
- Any other interesting facts
I make a review show! It's gotten a few subscribers on youtube. I'm about average quality at best (for my standards). Most people seem to love it though. Check out my sig!
I'm sure that fad won't last. I always go through fad phases. Last year it was baseball card autographs. I got about 130+, more than half of which were on baseball cards from 1957 to 1969. 98% success rate on old players, 94% success rate overall. The cards look pretty sweet. I think I'll post a youtube slideshow of them all on a separate account. I respect the old timey players, and I'm sure a lot of them love getting fanmail. I think I'll do it again this year, but not so much. I won't be sending to any current players because there's no one I can trust. (lol steroids)
I like sports, and I don't know why. I intend to go to a lot of college sports games this year for some schools in my area, notably the University of Memphis, Rhodes, Chrisitan Brothers Univeristy, and possibly Crichton College. I don't like driving to crowded-ass downtown too often, and I'll mostly be going to basketball, baseball, and football events that have 60-200 in attendance.
I haven't been to FedEX forum more than once. It's a pain in the ass down there. :-( Oh well.
I also have a kidney stone at the moment! Yay me!
Great meeting you all. I hope to post much more often. Since you can't respond to me, here is my official Still Gaming topic. (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95108)

- What systems you collect for
Right now, I have an NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PS1, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, and Gamecube. I hope to get a Master System and Atari VCS/2600 some day in the future, and possibly a Neo Geo AES.
- What you do in "real life"
I'm a student, but I work at a martial arts school.
- Any other interesting facts
I only started collecting older games in June. That started when I found a Zapper along with my SNES games. I didn't have an NES, but about two weeks later, I found one in my science fiction class (I have no idea what it was doing there), and the teacher said I could keep it. And thus, my collecting days began. I don't have a whole lot of games (only a hundred or two), but I'm getting there :)
I really need to get more Dreamcast and Saturn games, though. I only have two of each.

Hey everyone! I'm Jamie and I live in the state of Maryland. I've actually known about the forum here for a few years now, but I never joined until now. I love the old school gaming goodness provided by the good folks at Digital Press.
I've been gaming since 1989, when my brother got his Nintendo Entertainment System. My favorite games are too many to mention them all, but I'll just name a few:
Contra (NES)
Rad Racer (NES)
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (NES)
Blaster Master (NES)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
Rocket Knight Adventures (Genesis)
Silpheed (Sega CD)
Donkey Kong Country (Super NES)
Super Metroid (Super NES)
Crono Trigger (Super NES)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Jumping Flash (Playstation)
Crash Bandicoot (Playstation)
Layer Section (Saturn)
RayStorm (Playstation)
I collect games for the NES (top loader), Twin Famicom, Game Boy, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Playstation, and the Dreamcast.
In "real life", I'm a temp at a major banking business. Basically, I make edits to the website and do some filing, copying...all that "office stuff".
I actually became a collector rather unintentionally. Back in 2002, I decided to purchase a NES again because I just missed the good 'ol days of pressing A to jump and B to shoot. Months turend into years, and buying 1 gaming system turned into suddenly turned into having 10 systems (3 of which are the PS2, Xbox 360, and Wii) hooked up to my humble 25' old Television. after I purchased the Sega Genesis a few years ago, I knew that I was officially a collector of school games and won't be giving up my collection unless my life depends on it.
I spend my spare time playing those games, and also writing reviews on them on the internets. I'll put up a link in my posts whenver I write a new one, but don't worry...I won't spam the joint.
Nice to meet eveyone :)

Dad first got a 2600 for a first gaming experience... than a SNES with a ufo copier so we never really bought games for it, though the old folks did buy a cart than kept changing it for others. Never could afford games in those days, but later on starting getting paid and discovered ebay. Havent been collecting long, but i dont see a stop sign any where near.

Hey all, my name is Lance Bohy, 36, and I've been gaming most of my natural life. I have fond memories of my family spending countless hours playing our Sears Tele-Games Video Arcade system - which I still have in its original package btw.
Can't say that I was really ever a serious collector until about 3 years ago. On a whim I bought a bundle of old classic Activision games for the VCS off of eBay and to my surprise, I couldn't stop playing them. Fast forward 3 years and several conventions (including 2 CGEs) later and I now consider myself a pretty die-hard collector.
I collect for any system that I can find and have a "thing" for the old console computers of the 80s, like the Commodores, Ataris, TIs, CoCos, etc. I'm mainly a complete-in-box collector but I'd never pass up a rare gem for the lack of a box. Of late, I've been mainly collecting homebrew games for various systems (Vectrex, 2600, 5200, Intellivision, Colecovision, etc) and am amazed at the quality and dedication shown in these games. Keep it up guys!
My favorite games? I'd say the Castlevania series has always been a consistent fav, as well as Mega Man. I enjoy platformers for the most part but can also really get into a good space sim: I still consider X-Wing on the PC to be about as near-perfect a game as you can get. Of late, twitch-action games like Qwak (on the GBA) have been stealing the show.
In real life I'm an applications programmer for the US Government. I do mostly web enabled apps, but have done some other stuff as well.
Interesting facts? I have a wall-o-fame of signed boxes in my office. I love meeting and talking to the legends that started this industry. Like many of you, I collect toys as well... I probably have more toys than games... although the gap is closing. I'm trying to organize my game collection at RF Generation, so far I've plugged in 180, only got 1500+ to go ;) check it out: http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/collection.pl?name=zodiacprime&folder=Collection

Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
WWF No Mercy (Nintendo 64)
Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 (Nintendo 64)
Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64)
Legend of Zelda 64 (Nintendo 64)
Soul Calibur II (PlayStation 2)
Grand Theft Auto III (PlayStation 2)
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (Game Boy Advance)
WAIT! There's more!
Forgot my favorite PC/Commodore 64/Amiga games as well:
King's Quest (PC)
Leisure Suit Larry (PC)
Wasteland (Commodore 64)
Curse of the Azure Bonds (PC)
Test Drive (Commodore 64)
CounterStrike (PC)
Diablo II (PC)
Alien Breed (Amiga)
I collect mainly for all of them....I've been on a PS2 buying kick lately though. I'm considering getting a Gamecube for the sole purpose of Zelda: Wind Walker and Animal Crossing. And Luigi's Mansion. And....
I work as a greeter for a restaurant and a phone operator. Neither job makes that much, but that may change soon. I'm somewhat nerdy looking, but I don't care. I got a boatload of confidence and think I'm hot shit. ;)
I began collecting games not until I got out of college and had jobs. Most of the games I have now are games friends of mine in college played....only 3+ years later. I just recently found and bought Escape From Monkey Island for PS2 for 9.99 (!!!).

Joe
- Where you live
NYC, born and raised
- How you found the forums
Through word-of-mouth of my esteemed colleagues over at neo-geo.com
- What your favorite games are
Now that's a toughie, all depends on which system we're talking about, but just to do a sampling in no particular order:
Rez, Shock Troopers, Super Mario 1-3, Bust a Move, BurgerTime, Bionic Commando (NES), almost any Castlevania, Dragon Warrior IV, Zelda 2, Streets of Rage 2, Rygar (NES), Samurai Shodown IV, Metal Slug 3, Final Fantasy Tactics, Intelligent Qube, the Tekken series, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 0-4, Killzone (obviously), Last Blade (again, obviously), Katamari Damacy, Halo 2 (I'm sure I left some out, but meh)
- What systems you collect for
Too many if you ask me, I currently have:
Atari, ColecoVision, Gameboy/Color/Advance, NES, Genesis, Lynx, NGPC, Neo Geo CD, Neo Geo MVS, PSX, PS2, PSP, Gamecube, Xbox
- What you do in "real life"
I'm a tech security & risk analyst in the 9-5 world. On the side I fix computers and convert/edit videos and pictures.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I've been playing for as long as I could hold a controller (20+ years now) and I've been seriously collecting for the last 7 or so. I read a LOT about history and video game theory, especially back from the late 70's and 80's. Some of my most favorite topics to read about are classic computers, hardware hacks and things of that nature. I think we'd better know where we came from if we ever plan to forge ahead, especially in this industry. If it were up to me I'd still be working on my old C64 (RIP), but we must maintain Moore's Law it seems.
Pleasure to be here ladies and gents. See you around!

First off, I have to say I love the Digital Press collection guide books!
My name is Kris, and I am a major nerd when it comes to classic gaming. I was probably about 4 or 5 when I was first introduced to the Nintendo Entertainment System, and gaming has been a part of my life ever since.
Now that I am in my 20's now, I am more of a collector of the classics. I have dedicated myself to my website for the original Nintendo, www.8bitnintendogames.com/forum. I have also gotten into collecting Sega, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Super Nintendo, Virtual Boy, and a little bit of the Nintendo 64. Flea markets are my favorite place to go because I have always come home with something rare and video game related, i.e. Chrono Trigger complete for a mere dollar!
I also like to snowboard, work on classic cars (mustangs particular) and go to school (never thought I would admit to that one).

Well, I'm Chris, and I've been reading these forums pretty regularly for over a year now, it seems. But I've just ordered my own Intellivision so I can start collecting for the system with which I grew up ("up with which I grew"?). Currently, I have an Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS, but I wouldn't call myself much of a gamer. I probably only spend about 2 hours a week playing games. But, I'm a collector at heart, so the Inty should be fun.

- What you do in "real life"

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I started playing games at the age of 3. However, my parents were totally against gaming, so I got my first console (PSX) at the age of 12. The collecting of games started about 2 years ago.

Who me? : Jeremy

Which arrow did I follow? : The one from Next Level Games
Olde favs: Havest Moon 64, Off-Road Challenge, River City Ransom, Earth Bound, Final Fantasy Seven and Tactics, NES Zelda I, non oldies> any Light Gun game, Virtual On, and MMOs.
Collections in my pantry? : I only really collect things I enjoy playing, and the games I buy, I have learned the hard way of trading in games.
What to do, once finished the doing: I work at a store long corrupted by old men who work out of high backed leather chairs, while still working with video games, take a minute to think, ok now guess, no don't think too hard, No I do not work for EA or a studio, I use a cash register, it isn't that hard! Come on...anyway. I hope to get a job in the future with anything dealing with sound. I love sound. From noises made from the mouth while 20 cotten balls are shoved into it - to music, I'd love to work with it. So that includes a radio DJ, sound enginniering, sound design, recording sound, voice acting, building sound studios, setting up stages, anything.
Random fact: My first childhood memory is playing Joust on the Atari 2600 with my mother, next to the one of my Dad and a family friend building the stairs in the room of which me and my mom played the Atari 2600.

Well, here goes my introduction!
- Who you are
Simon
- Where you live
Jackson, Georgia, U.S.A.
- How you found the forums
I found the forums quite a long time ago after looking up how rare a couple of games I have were. I haven't been a member of the forum 'till now. I guess I can say that mEgAsHoT (who's my brother) also helped me find this site, which is awesome to say the least!
- What your favorite games are
I have so many favorite games it would be hard to list them all, but a couple of games I like are:
Guitar Hero 1 & 2, Gran Turismo series, Need for Speed series, Tekken series, Advance Wars Series, etc.
- What systems you collect for
A bunch:
Atari 2600
SNES
N64
Gameboy
Gameboy Advance/SP
Nintendo DS
Sega Genesis
Sega Saturn
Xbox
Playstation 1
PS2
Gamecube
Dreamcast
Sega CD
All of these consoles except for the PS1, Atari 2600, and the Sega CD are hooked up to me and my brother's TVs via system selectors. So, that's 5 on my TV and 5 on my brother's TV.
- What you do in "real life"
Currently I'm a senior at Stockbridge High School, and I'm graduating in June! Afterwards, I plan to go to college and become a computer or video game programmer so I can create awesome games which could then be featured on this website! XD
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I've been collecting and playing games for a long time now, but me and my brother's first system was probably the Sega Genesis (though I don't remember too well), in which we had Sonic the Hedgehog. We then received the N64 with Wave Race 64 and 1080 Snowboarding for our birthday in 1998, and that system as well as the Genesis have been working 'till this very day!
Another note is that on almost all of my systems, I have more than 5 games for each, which means I have a bunch of games =P. I only have one Sega CD game left (the others I threw out), and that's the RPG Vay, which I could say is quite rare.
Oh, and me and my brother Skylar (who goes by mEgAsHoT on the forum) are twins. Yeah, for real obviously XD
Y0u (r/n Elliott, prefer not to post full name)
I've been gaming since I got a 2600 for Christmas in '91 when I was way back in kindergarden. Before that though, the local library had an Apple II and they would let you play games on it- I remember playing some muppet game and Oregon Trail on it (and believe it or not, I didn't need too much help from my parents!) Been accumulating games (more to play than collect, but I do enjoy collecting for its own sake too) ever since then- I have close to 300 games now. My collection is <http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom?&owner=Someone150&mode=view&&lid=100018>.

Not much to say really, I'm not entirely new to forums community setups and I have known about this particular one for a few years, and I know a guy around these parts named MegaDrive20XX (I believe he was called Ghouls 'N Ghosts at one point). Though I do recognize a few others already from other sites. I'm 29 years old, been gaming since 1983 and don't foresee ever quitting my passion for gaming. Out of all the genres the "Beat 'em Up" genre is my all time favorite, hence my avatar and sig pic. My screen name is a salute to The Beat 'em Up genre that has always glorified the beat downs and gang culture of that started in the 1950s, and I earn my bread by bouncing in clubs and as a grill man at a Denny's Diner. I'm here for good conversation and community, no drama.

Hey All, just found this site a week ago or so, been lurking around and i find it awesome here, great site/info/ppl.
Anyways, I'm a (small time) game collector who's in love with games and everything to do with games. I literately live, breath, think, hear, do video games almost 24/hours a day. I've always collected games since i can remember, but only recently began to stat collecting seriously (actually have some $$ now).
In what they call "real life", I'm the department head for QA at a local game publisher. I don't really have any particular favorite game, but i love to play everything that comes out, and i mean everything. What really kindles my excitement is strange/niche games that are innovative and bring something interesting to the industry.

Who you are
I am known as Dr. Eggfan in the Sonic modding community, and I think my reputation there is well preserved to keep using the name. I think.
Where you live
Australia
How you found the forums
Cryomancer suggested that some of you here might be interested in some things I want to sell. I shall respect the ten day waiting period before trying to palm off my stuff though.
What your favorite games are
I have always stood by my decision that Jeff Minter's Tempest 2000 is the greatest video game ever created. For me, it marked the end point of the classic gaming era, and it ended on an unbeleivable high. I still haven't finished it, everytime I think I've got it sussed out, it throws a new enemy at me - "Oh, now I have to combat death raining from above too, thanks very much Mr. Minter"
What systems you collect for
Pretty much everything Sega related. I had a brief love affair with Nintendo, but my serious collection is my Sega collection. I started with a Mega Drive, which has been upgraded with all the add-ons, and I have about 150 games, but it is far from complete. I also have a Nomad, a Saturn and a Dreamcast. I recently purchased an Australian SC-3000H computer and have been collecting SG-1000 titles lately, I think I've got close to 70% of all the officially released software for the first generation Hardware.

Hello, my name is Tony. I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I don't remeber exactly how I found these forums, but I think it was in a Tips and Tricks from awhile back.
I don't have any specific favorite game, but I think SNES RPGs are some of the best made.
I am currently collecting for NES and SNES. I'll buy anything if the price is right.
I work for the Kenosha Sheriff's Dept as a Direct Suervision Officer at the County Dentention Center.
Like most of you, I have been playing games pretty much my entire life. I have been actively collecting games for a little over a year. My collection is pretty modest compared to some, but it's still a work in progress.
See ya in the forums!

Felipe
02-24-2007, 12:06 PM
Well, my name's Felipe (Phillip in english), I'm 24 years old and from Brazil.
I always liked videogames but I only seriously started collecting about 3 years ago when I came to know a couple of my friends and they were seriously into... so I took the dust of my Sega Saturn and started to gather som games! I even managed to buy my first Genesis and SegaCD console back from the guy I had sold it to (it's in an incredibly BAD shape, but hey, that was my first console ever!). I'm a big Metal Gear fan and that was the main reason I bought my PS2 and PSP systems (of course that i have a lot of PS2 games and my PSP collection is growing slowly, but hey, MGS3/MGSPO were my reasons to spend the money on those consoles :D). I collect for the Genesis, SegaCD, Saturn, Nintendo DS, PS2 and PSP... hopefully I'll get a Wii sometime... You can all view my collection at: http://users.ign.com/collection/fbaldner
I have no idea how i managed to find this site :D But im glad that i found it and bookmarked it!
Being a collector here is an expensive hobby... just so you guys know, a Wii here costs somewhat more than US$1.000,00... yeah, sad little place this here... a PS3 costs about 4 times a Wii... so sometimes its kinda difficult to get things here...
When we talk about classic things you usually have people selling loose carts (in horrible shape... like stickers all over, or those magic markers... thats when they don't stuff the bolts' hole with some crap that is horrible to remove) usually too expensive for their conditions... sometimes you can find good stuff at the right price too, but that's not all the time ;) I myself found a pretty decent copy of Snatcher, for the SegaCD, for US$5,00! The CD wasn't perfect, but is completely playable!
Then we have eBay... but we also have our god-forsaken customs that usually charges 60% for taxes... but there are loopholes to avoid that ;) The first thing that i bought on eBay to test those loopholes was a mint Silhouette Mirage for the PS1... of course that there's also PlayAsia... but the customs know them too well and all packs from them are charged :beaten:
To pay for all that I'm graduating from college now as an Electrical Engineer, and I work with automation systems... soon on my way to robotics!
And thats pretty much it!
If anyone wants, you can just contact me on MSN or e-mail, that's in my profile!

guess since i've posted a few times i should introduce myself. just a little*or not so little* bit of history
I'm Matt. i'm 19. i found this place through assembler
I've been playing video games for most of my life. i was a Sega child through and through. all i ever played was sonic and the Power Rangers Fighter*with some mario 3 mixed in*. first game i remember getting was Sonic and Knuckles*sonic 1 and 3 were my moms* I also remember Mortal kombat and Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure when i rented them. so mostly platformers.
Then one birthday i got a Gameboy Color with Pokemon Yellow. and shortly after an N64 with Diddy Kong Racing*its still the only N64 cartridge i own* made its way into my home. i started branching out more and started playing Zelda on GBC and endless hours of pokemon. little did i know this was just the beggining
Then i started Heavily into PC gaming. Starcraft and Diablo was pretty much it though. before that i was mostly a player of Escape Velocity but i didn't play that much*and its a mac game*. Also playing starcraft i made my first large group of friends. We wasted many lunch hours on school computers playing burned copies curtosy of the guys. my playing of it only got worse when i bought my own copy of the Starcraft battle chest. Cause then i had my own copy on my own pc capable of going online. after i moved in summer of 2001 my gaming kind of stagnated until...
Christmas 2001 i finally got a PS1*a little late i know* with FF Chronicles. the day after i got FF VII. from that day foreward RPGs became my favorite. i didn't even really know different genres until then. here i fell in love with the FF Series and Discovered the awesomeness that is Lunar. I also played alot of Dead or Alive.
then on my birthday in 2004 my mom and i went 50/50*more like 65/35. she paid more* on a gamecube with Zelda CE. and that christmas i got the rest of the gamecube games i own. here i got Heavy into zelda and played alot of Wrestlemania 18 so i could finally beat my friend at it after him kicking my ass for so long. thus also started my renting splurges. where i discovered games like Skies of Arcadia and Sonic adventure. i also started getting back into the old Genesis and started playing the SNES alot. and also i started getting really interested in imports*of which i still have none* i had intrest before but it really flared up
then just last christmas my mom suprised me with a PS2 and i went and got FF XII* 71.18 CAD.owch* and so here i am. no imports and barely any games*damn i need a job* but i love gaming so that doesn't mean crap all

Hi. I actually used to be a poster here a long, long time ago, but I stopped coming after an unfortunate school year that cost me some health.
Q:Who you are
A: I'm Lane. I'm 19, nearly 20. I'm a college student at Southwestern University.
Q: Where you live
A: I live in Georgetown, Texas, on the University.
Q:How you found the forums
A: I used to run a website about prototypes which crashed and burned a while back (okay, let's just stay the engine ran out of steam). I decided to come back after being bored these days.
Q: What your favorite games are
A: Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Superstar, Bubble Bobble, Super Metroid
Q:What systems you collect for
A: NES, SNES and someday I hope to acquire a Commodore 64.
Q: What you do in "real life"
A: I'm a student, a journalist for the campus newspaper, and I'm a tech support guy on this campus.
Q:Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc
A: I remember not being able to beat 1-2 of Super Mario Brothers till I was 8 or so. In my defense, I had a stroke around the age of 2, and that caused me to lose all motor skills that I essentially had to build back up. Now, I can about to the Lakitu levels without bieng in anger.
I can get to 1-4 on the real SMB 2, by the way. :)

Hello from France,
Actually i live in Marseille (south of France, great soccer team too, and sunny place!). Some of you may know me on others forums (atariage, atarimania and others french only!).
I'm into collecting since...8 or 9...i can't remember exactly, because i always keep my first console (Xmas gift in 1981...first french year out!).
I'm more into old stuff...from 1972 to 1985 but i've also a lot of recent consoles!
I've more than 350 consoles and computers (only old ones!) and i'm really into Atari, colecovision and intellivision. I've more than 1500 games with some rares stuff too, but in Europe we don't have very rare system or game!
I hope to post frequently, but my work (journalist and musician) takes a lot of time!
I'm really happy to be here! and be a part of the videogame junky world!
Hello everyone. I am your average classic gaming fan. Born in 1987, at 8 months old i started playing video games. However I do not recall this from memory, only hearing family and parents telling me. My first system was the NES. As I grew older, I had quite the obsession on my hands just like many of you do. I am a big fan of the NES, SNES, Gameboy Mono, 7800 and Genesis.
Due to a short childhood, These games are all I have of fond memories. Yet, they were the best. (I hate people who say "Are the graphics good?")
I found these forums trying to find a rarity guide so I wouldn't get too ripped off on purchasing games.
My favorite games that I can think off the top of my head are.
Earthbound
Contra
Super C
Contra III
Operation C
Tetris (For GB)
Tengen Tetris
Ghouls n' Ghosts
Final Fantasy 3, 7
Mega Man Series (Including X series)
Ninja Gaiden I, II and III
Marble Madness
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario Kart
Goldeneye 007
I practically collect For Display Only boxes for SNES that are flat and in mint condition. So, if you have any, please consider PMing me about them. I hope to get to know some of you and enjoy this great place. Let the legends live on.

Hi, I'm Scott and I've been a gamer for almost 20 years now...crazy!
My first system was a NES and I was a serious/hardcore gamer up through the Dreamcast...and interestingly enough, the Dreamcast is my favorite system of all time (it just had the best amount of unique games for it in its short lifespan...sooooooo underrated and overlooked)!
Unfortunatly, to get through college from 2000-2004 I had to sell of probably 95% of my gaming collection of which I had 30+ systems, hundreds of games, dozens of super-rare collectibles... :(
Now that school's done and steady paychecks are coming in I'm rebuilding my collection, piece by piece. It'll cost a pretty penny but I'll have my gaming stuff back!

It is pretty easy to make a good living here but I do work very hard for it.
I work on industrial refrigeration equipment (Large walk in freezers and the like). I also lay brick for extra money.
I have always loved games and always wanted a big collection.
Here are some of my favorites I own as well as the ones I play often.
SMS: Phantasy Star, R type, Rastan
Genesis: Super Monaco GP, Ristar, Shining Force, Streets of Rage
Turbo-16: Ninja Spirit
Saturn: Dragon Force, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Nights, Burning Rangers
PS: Guilty Gear, Tactics Ogre, Elemental Gearbolt
DC: MvC2, SHENMUE, SHENMUE 2, PSO, F355 Challenge, Last blade 2, Ikaruga
XBOX: Ninja Gaiden Black
Neo Geo Pocket: Match of the millenium, Last blade
NES: TMNT 2, Renegade, Super Mario 3, Kid Icarus, Mega Man 4
Sega CD: Lunar, Lunar 2, Dark Wizard
Jaguar: Kasumi Ninja(always funny), Tempest 2000
GC: PSO plus, Resident Evil series, Skies of arcadia legends
Wonderswan: Star Hearts
I only have about 950 games but they are all good ones if you ask me.
I am in the process now of cleaning and restoring some of the games that are in rough shape(New jewel cases, Cleaning off stickers etc.)
After I am finished with that I am going to buy like crazy again.
Let me know if you like my taste. I know many game collecters in the area so if you are around OKC give me a shout. I will introduce you to the crowd.

Mega Man 2, Ducktales/2, Little Nemo (nostalgical), Carmageddon II, Stepmania, Half-Life, Castlevania (NES), Super Castlevania IV, Cho Ren Sha 68k, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Diddy Kong Racing (nostalgical), Banjo-Kazooie, F-Zero X, Yoshi's Story (nostalgical), Marshmallow Fighters and a million more games i've forgot in the moment.
I'm not so much of a collector, mostly since i've never really had the money for games. An N64 game in a local store was in 1998 priced around 750 SEK, which is around 107 USD...
I only have about ten games each of gameboy/gameboy color, GBA, PSX, PS2, N64 and NES. Instead i've relived most of all the lost years with no money using emulators. Not as good, but at least i'm playing the good oldies, other than the stupid kids today with no respect for good games (iee. pre-3D).
Now that i finally have some money and a chance to buy used games on the internet, i'm thinking of starting to collect slightly more serious. I just don't know what i should start collecting. Maybe SFC-games, since i haven't played as many.
I enjoy programming, even thought i'm not that good. I program in QuickBasic and C++. At most, i could probably do an 1:1-copy of Castlevania to NES.
I'm currently studying electrics/computers, thinking of being an engineer in the future.
I'm not so good when it comes to the english language, i lost it all by playing Warcraft 3 with germans for two years. Hopefully, my weird syntax is at least better than that of the many idiots floating around on the internet today.
I began "collecting" (or rather, started buying games) around when i got my N64. I got a NES with around ten games in 1995, but since there wasn't any games to buy for it, i only had those first games. My game purchases came more and more often, untill around 2004, when i realised that gaming cost so much. Under the time untill now however, i played computer games, especially vertical SHMUPs. I haven't really restarted with collecting, but i've bought some games for my PS2 at least.

I feel like I'm at AA or something....
I'm 26 been playing most of the days I've been on this green earth, used to collect games religiously. Lost a few consoles and sold a few games and now am trying to replace them all. I'll play anything once.

I am 18 years of age and attending Georgia State University this fall. I found the forums just by being bored in the school library and looking for a game forum, so I guess I just happened by. I was given a SNES back when I was younger and I just started from there. I've become entranced with Nintendo and I collect whatever catches my eye. For instance, I don't buy a game that I don't respect or don't want to play even if the price is $20 and the value is in the hundreds. Granted it will be tempting, but I don't have the attention to try and re-sell it. I'm an RPG as well as action/adventure gamer, but my center focus has to do with rhythem games much like DDR or IIDX or PPP or Popn or ect, ect...

I'm 29 years old and have been a gamer since I was old enough to pick up a controller and figure out how a keyboard works. I grew up on old PC games and the Intellivision and arcades before they went the way of the dinosaur. I'm partly a collector, but mostly a gamer, and I've found alot of obscure but incredibly fun game to play by browsing the forums here.
I came across Digital Press when a friend recommended it to me, swearing it was right up my alley! Looking forward to spending a great time here!

Hi, I am Zen. Being a video gamer for more than 20 years, but also a lawyer, I have decided to take some time off to write a comparative study about video game censorship. Thus, your input is much appreciated.

Hi, I live in MA, US. My favorite game at the moment is Battlefield 2: MC for PS2 although, my all time favorite game though is either MGS for PSX or Silent Hill for PSX (huge fan of the Silent Hill series). I'm a bit slow to adopt next gen consoles, preferring to wait until they drop in price (especially the PS3!). Anytime I see a cheap PS2 game I pick it up even if it sucks. I'm primarily collecting for DC at the moment though. I'm 20, and I'm a nurse's aide.

My name is Jonathan and I’m 23 years old.
I live in Alabama.
I was referred by a friend who has been a long time lurker.
As for my favorite games it’s almost impossible to narrow it down to just one, so I’ll say just about anything on the NES.
I’m really only collecting for the NES.
In real life I am self employed / student.
As for other interesting facts about myself; I love all things aviation, fly rc planes, always have an 80s web stream playing in winamp (xmms when in Linux), and have about a month left on my Computer Science degree.

Hi! My name is Kalli and I'm from Southeast Michigan. My family had a TI99/4a when I was about three or four, but it died and subsequently went into the garbage around the same time we got a Super Nintendo.
And that was about it - I didn't know what a Playstation was until my senior year of college when my best friend introduced me to Kingdom Hearts. Admittedly, I was a little intimidated because the characters spoke and obviously things were happening with that controller that were not natural!
Within a year I'd acquired a Playstation, PS2, GBA and Gamecube. And now there are about fourteen systems plugged into my TV, and my co-workers like to guess what color DS I have with me.
Crack would be cheaper.
I started importing in early 2006 and found this messageboard while looking for info on Super Famicom power supplies - and instead found an online store I hadn't heard of and just bought a whole one instead of trying to find pieces.
I'm not a 'completist' collector. I'm happy to be able to enjoy stories and characters. I avidly collect things from Enix, Atlus, Square and Nihon Falcom.
And yeah, I really do name characters without a default name 'Bubba'.
I'm admittedly a n00b in many respects, and have learned an amazing amount from just browsing the boards for the last couple days.

Hello, my name is Kevin, im 19 and from Toronto, Canada.
I own an XBOX, PSP, N64, SNES, Dreamcast, PC engine II. I mainly collect for the SNES.
I found out about this forum because i recently acquired Samurai Shodown PAL version for the SNES and was wondering how much it is worth. It led me to this site as there were posting of collections but I have not seen anyone having this cartridge yet.
I love playing video games, FPS (Counter Strike, BF1942, etc.) and WC3 (this is the same handle on azeroth but i play DOTA (UMS) now most of the time). Im looking for a mature good community(forum), i read a lot at IGN & Kotaku but Kotaku does not have a forum (i don't think they do) and IGN forum is a mess. Things besides gaming, hmmm, I like listening to "all types of music" (no trance or country =P), i think video game music is amazing! and i think i know about computers (beyond a flake I believe).
games i currently play (or can play) on PC: UT2k4, CS 1.6, CSS, TFC (DRIPPYS!!!), WC3:FT, BF1942
TEAM FORTRESS 2 COMING SOON!!!

Hello fellow gamers,
I'm from Toronto, Canada and my name is Daniel Teixeira.
I first started playing video games when I was seven back in 1989 thanks to the emergence of my all-time favorite video gaming system, the good ol' NES.
Classic gaming continues to interest me to this day. Newer games haven't really won me over as of yet.
The Sega Genesis was the last system that I ever bought.
I consider myself a video game player, rather than a video game collector. I buy games with the intent of beating them to the pulp.
When I see people making comments about certain games being "impossible" to beat, this motivates me to prove them wrong. I always take it a step further when defying the odds. So for example if I manage to finish a game without dying, I will then attempt to finish it without dying without ever picking up any items. I did so with Friday the 13th (NES) for instance and that is my greatest gaming achievement by far (while finishing Predator (NES) without dying would be a close second, since it took a lot of persistence to pull that one off [about five straight hours of playing]!).
I have sent speed runs to Twin Galaxies to prove people wrong. I never even knew about the site until someone challenged me to prove that I could beat a game in the stated way (beating Mike Tyson in the first round in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!). Anything is possible though, as they have all realized by now. I feel that anyone can beat any game if they dedicate enough time and remain determined until the end (show heart in other words), no matter how trying the circumstances may seem.
Writing is something that I would like to pursue as a career, preferably in the field of sports and entertainment.
I have written one full video game FAQ for the obscure NES release by the name of Power Punch II. I also assisted Brian Sulpher with his Friday the 13th FAQ. Those were both equally fun to work on.
I keep up with my writing skills by adding information into my gaming document, although it has been a while since I last updated it. This is basically a 269 page document (thus far) that tracks every game that I have finished, with the dates of when each game was first played and finished, ratings and comments for each game, self made screenshots and my greatest accomplishments in each game. Top ten lists and diary-like stories are also shared. This document is meant to preserve cherished memories, as well as to inspire others to see that anything is truly possible if one puts their mind to it.
I love a good challenge and am currently trying to beat Power Punch II for the NES with 200 points as the Final Rating, which is the highest possible score. This isn't something that is supposed to be possible, but I don't give a damn what Beam Software had in mind when putting this game together, 200 will be reached!
The designers did everything in their power to make it unreachable, but as He-Man always used to say: "I have the power!" (okay that was pretty cheesy, sorry). I will then update the FAQ for the last time. I'm hoping that DreamTR will be able to help me with one of the sections, since he owns the prototype of Mike Tyson's Intergalactic Power Punch, but I'll have to ask him obviously.

Hi my name is Justin, im 21 and i live in Fort Myers Florida. I have been a gamer since I got my first Nintendo NES back in 1989. I'm currently going to college studying for my major in Business Management and Information Systems. Over the past year i've just recently started collecting consoles and games. So far I have an Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2 and Wii. Total of about 100 games which is growing when I have extra money. Stumbled on this site a few days ago while surfing the internet and glad I did. Working toward a beautiful "room of doom" :)

I'm Scott from New Jersey. I'm 23 and hold a degree in Information Systems. In real life, I work in Quality Assurance for a large corporation. In my free time I'm into television and of course video games. I've played numerous consoles but the NES and SNES will always be the ones I'll consider unforgetable. There was no greater feeling in my childhood than my grandparents giving me a new NES game for Christmas or my birthday. I can still remember the day I unwrapped R.C. Pro AM for the NES or when my grandparents bought me a Super NES. I'm not sure if I ever told them how much those gifts meant. Gaming was a big part of my life, a much bigger part than it is now. I feel like the days of gaming with each other in person are much better than the online capability we have now. There was just something special about getting together with friends to play.
That being said, at 23 I have a lot of experiences and a lot of advice to offer about life in general. You'll probably find me frequenting off-topic conversations more so than about games.

Tim from Madison, WI. Marketing, play lacrosse, eat cheese drink beer.
I stumbled onto this board looking for info about the greatest (in my humble opinion) game of all time, "Madden 93". My friends and I still play it on occasion and talk shit just like we did when we were 16.
Boom, he's on his back!
That's all I play except for a little NHLPA '93 on occasion, "Im going to make Gretzky's head bleed for super fan 99 over there"
As a kid i was the poor schmuck with the Intellivision while the rest of you were playing with your Ataris.

It occurs to me that I've never introduced myself. I've been here a while, but I don't seem to post that often. I'll probably be working on that.
My name is Bobby, I'm 22 and I live in Fort Myers, Florida, one of the most pitiful places for a collector to live and / or interact with others of his kind. I've got everything from NES (Atari was before my time, sorry guys) to Wii. I've been playing since I picked up an NES Action Set at the tender age of 5. I was shooting ducks and trying to shoot laughing dogs whilst other kindergarteners were playing, I dunno, tag? I've got somewhere around 500 games for numerous systems, unfortunately, I have not counted my stuff in months, so we'll see how accurate that is next time I have a day off. Speaking of which, that leads to employment. I work at the local Best Buy's Geek Squad, where I enjoy a modest discount on my current gen games, among other items. It pays the bills, as the saying goes. I'm engaged to an amazing girl who I've been with for six years this April 17th, coincidentally. She supports my collecting bug and recently started playing games with me, which is exactly why the Wii is the most amazing thing going on right now. Nothing else ever pulled her in, except the occassional romp through Super Mario World.
If you haven't noticed, I have a tendency to rant.
