Who are you?
Duane Alan Hahn.
Where do you live?
The place where people toss beer cans, fast food garbage, and burning cigarette butts out of their car windows: North Carolina.
How did you find the forums?
Osmosis.
What are your favorite games or type of games?
I like replayable games that use controlled randomness (http://www.randomterrain.com/game-design-randomness-and-replayability.html#controlled_randomness). I don't want to learn patterns or dance steps and I want a fresh experience every time I play. For example, I like exploring worlds that are created by Civilization style games (hunting for resources and treasure).
What systems do you collect for?
I'm not a collector. I'm a player.
What you do in "real life?"
Not much. I mow the lawn and watch TV. Does that count?
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, who you had to kill to get your first console, and so on?
Nope. No interesting facts. I'm as interesting as a dropped ice cream cone melting on a hot sidewalk.

What your favorite games are - Metroid, Ghosts 'N Goblins, Megaman 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, EarthBound
What systems you collect for - SNES
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. - I have a drawing of a Servbot from the Megaman Legends series that I won in a Megaman Legends 3 contest

Hey there! After some weeks reading many interesting topics in the forum, I decided to take some time and register.
- Who you are?
Iīm Mike, 28.
- Where you live?
Iīm from Spain and I live in Barcelona. But donīt worry, I can speak english quite well so weīll have some interesting talks here.
- How you found the forums?
Something like 3 months ago I was googling for a complete PS2 RPG list and one of the first search results was a topic of this forum.
- What your favorite games are?
Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Super Mario Bros 3, Castlevania SoTN, Guardian Heroes, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy X, Odin Sphere, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, F-Zero GX, ...
- What systems you collect for?
I collect for a lot of different systems, but right now Iīm focused on Nintendo DS, PS2 and Sega Megadrive/Genesis.
- What you do in "real life"?
Work as a teacher.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Been collecting since I was 12-13. I started doing it because some friends or cousins gave me "old games and systems" that they didnīt want anymore (stuff from NES, Master System, ZX Spectrum, Commodore Amiga, ...). This started around 1997-98, so I canīt imagine how old those games would look to them, if they already thought were obsolete back in the day.
I hope to have some nice talks here with all of you :)

Hi everybody.
I'm terrible at introducing myself on forums, so I'll go with the standard questions format.
Who are you?
In this reality, I'm known as Josh. I also answer to most variations of "hey, you!"
Where do you live?
Phildelphia, by way of a whole bunch of other Northeastern US locations.
How did you find the forums?
Same way pretty much anyone finds things these days. Google.
What are your favorite games:
Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Goldeneye 007 (the original N64 version), Bushido Blade 2, Super Smash Bros. Sonic 2, Toejam and Earl.
What systems do you collect for?
Just about any system before the current generation. Right now I've got an NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy Color, PS1, PS2 and Dreamcast. As a completionist I'm always looking for more.
What do you do in real life?
I Work in TV, regret deciding to work in TV, work to get out of working in TV, and so on.
Any other interesting facts about you?
I'm pretty new to collecting. I only started a few months ago when a friend sold me a Genesis he picked up as part of a lot. Since then I've been hooked on picking up new old stuff.
Well, there, that wasn't so bad. Nice to be here!

I have a terrible habit of rambling so I will just do the question format :P
Who are you?
Hi I'm Anthony
Where do you live?
Wanaque NJ....pretty boring place :P
How did you find the forums?
I go to the Digital Press store a lot. I'm really shy and really bad with putting myself out there to meet people. Figured I'd finally try and get past that and make an account here.
What are your favorite games:
EARTHBOUND!, The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past, Illusion of Gaia, Yoshi's Island, Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars, Diddy Kong Racing, Final Fantasy IX, Alundra, Valkyria Chronicles (one of the few videogames that had me crying my eyes out), Lunar 2 Eternal Blue.
What systems do you collect for?
Hmmm I don't really collect...but I guess at the moment SNES. I lost all my SNES games during a move years ago and I finally decided to try and reclaim my childhood back :P. I have a ton of N64, PS1, and PS2 games so I guess that could be called a collection...
What do you do in real life?
Nothing at the moment. I don't know what I want to do as far as a career is concerned...
Any other interesting facts about you?
I've recently been getting into speed running. Working on my DKC2 times and my Pikmin 2 single segment times. =)

Where do you live?
I am from West Milford, NJ.
How did you find the forums?
I found out about the forums because my friend took me to the actual store in Clifton which was the greatest video game store I have ever been to.
What are you favorite games?
I love Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3 and Sonic Adventure, Mega Man on NES, all Mario games, DONKEY KONG is my favorite video game character and I love DK country, but my favorite games have to be the Zelda games, most favorably Wind Waker.
What systems do you collect for?
I am not really at the collecting point yet but I play games from: Atari 2600, Colecovision, NES, Genesis, SNES, Gamecube, PS2, Xbox 360 and wii.
What do you do in real life?
I am currently a High School Student
Any other interesting facts about you?
An interesting gaming type fact is that even though I was born into the era of Gamecube and Playstation 2, the console that I played for the first 8 years of my life was the Sega Genesis. Another interesting fact is that I play trumpet.
I have no experience with forums what so ever and have never been on one, I have only read them for information.

- How you found the forums
A friend of mine told me he used to lurk these forums a while back, and I figured I'd check it out!
- What your favorite games are
I like a whole variety of different games; I'll play just about anything! But some of my favorites from when I grew up are Shatterhand, LoZ: A Link to the Past, Deus Ex, Radical Rex, Goldeneye 64, TES: Morrowind, and Street Fighter II. A couple of modern games I like are Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, and the Left 4 Dead games.

Nothing too special. I've been playing video games all my life; one of my first memories is playing Shufflepuck Cafe on my family's Amiga 500, and I've been gaming ever since!

Well, you can call me Tim!
- Where do you live?
I've moved multiple times during my childhood, but I currently reside in Virginia.
- How did you find the forums?
I've ran across these forums many times in multiple google searches, yet it only occurred to me last December to join. I made all of 2 posts and that was it; didn't even introduce myself the first time around! So I figured I might as well while I'm trying to boost my activity here!
- What are your favorite games?
Easy! Mega Man and Sonic are very high tier to me (with Mega Man 3 ranking as my #1 favorite game, and Sonic 3&K in a close second), with multiple other games following suit. Sega is my favorite console manufacturer, even if they no longer make them!
- What systems do you collect for?
Quite a few, but it's mostly casual collecting that I do; the two biggest ones I do try and collect for are the Master System and the SNES.
- What do you do in "real life"?
I'm a writer and an editor.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.?
I grew up with these consoles when I was little (I'm fairly young, so they were hand-me-downs), but I still appreciate them for what they are, and have taken an interest in some of the consoles I ended up missing, but in the end, I just love collecting these old games, heh!

Hey all, Suppose I should introduce myself. I've been a gamer since I got my NES in 1989, was and still am a huge Nintendo fan. Also have a huge interest in classic Adventure games. Mostly the Licasarts classics, but Sierra and others certainly had their gems. Definitly into muktiplayer PC games, Team Fortress 2 and Starcraft 2 being my curre t most played games, and I'm always in the market for unique Indie platformers or adventure games.
Game systems I've owned over the years; NES, Game Boy, N64, Game Cube, Game Boy Advance, DS, and Wii. Currently trying to plug that gaping SNES hole.
I've sort of wandered in her because recently I've gotten a bad itch to collect classic video games again. Started hitting local flea markets and such. I googled 'classic gaming forum' and this was the first site to pop up. Looks promising. I like the looks of this Gaming Guides the site sells.

Hi, my name is Sean, I'm from Pittsburgh, PA. I found the forum through google, I was looking for a good gaming forum and came across this one and it looked good so I joined.
My favorite games are all Mega Man games, with my favorites being 3 and 4 for the NES. I also love the Castlevania series, Resident Evil series, and the NHL games. Resident Evil 4 (in my opinion) is the greatest video game ever made.
I collect mainly for NES and SNES and pick up games for my other systems (GB, GBA, DS, XBOX, PS3) if I see ones I like. I have close to 200 NES games, 40 SNES games and around 20-30 for the other systems combined.
I recently graduated from school and I am an athletic trainer... currently unemployed.
I've always been into video games growing up, but just recently got back into retro gaming about 3 years ago and I've been collecting since. I enjoy searching the retail stores around me for gems that are priced too low. And my name (Space-Ace-13) is both my PS3 name and comes from my love for the band KISS and and Ace Frehley more specifically

Hi Everyone! I'm k-frog and I'm from Canada :)
I found you guys through google because I was looking for the biggest community of classic gamers who would appreaciate the video I'm posting - saw the number of threads and post counts on your forum here and it looks like you guys are up there! I am a competitive Mortal Kombat player (I play the new MK, but I also played MK1 2 and 3 back in the early 90's in the arcades) and a long time member of MKU (http://www.mortalkombatunited.com), so Im very familiar with the vbulletin forum engine and the gaming community:)
I wanted to post up and say hi to all of you, and link you guys to what I've been up to, in case any of you are interested. I also work for a media company, www.tripsessions.com and we cover live events, gaming, and extreme sports. We work with and represent some of the top gamers in the world, and we produce a gaming podcast hosted by James MK on Tuesday nights at 10 PM called "The On Blast Show" with various guests including Daniel Pesina (The original Johnny Cage actor), Kerry Hoskins (The original Sonya Actor), the MK Flash Mob, and much more. You guys should stop by and say hi, its a fun show, and who knows you could even be a guest! We also just got back from ConBravo last month and we had an exclusive interview with the AVGN, and we are heading to Fan Expo this month. We covered ComicCon and EVO earlier this summer, so we have been very very busy!
If you have any questions about Trip Sessions, my videos, or want to know anything else, just hit me up and ask :)

- Who you are
My name is Anthony De Medeiros, and I'm currently job hunting, but I'd love to work in the video game industry as a 3D Modeler or Animator.
- Where you live
I live in Ontario, Canada
- How you found the forums
A good friend of mine from the Jul community's The Cutting Room Floor wiki told me about this place
- What your favorite games are
I find this a very hard question, there are too many games I love, but I will say what my favorite Genre is, RPGs.
- What systems you collect for
I don't normally collect for a console as of yet besides my Dreamcast, I usually just emulate if I want to play an older game. I'm new to collecting.
- What you do in "real life"
In real life I pretty much just hang out with friends, read, play videogames, build mecha model kits, and make 3D models.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
One interesting fact about my collecting is that I mostly collect controllers/gamepads, I have a huge fetish for those, and I can't stop myself from buying really comfortable or really odd looking gamepads, like that steering wheel controller for Nintendo 64. It's too good to pass up!
Also, I have a blog of my work and hobbies, It's still under construction though: http://anthonydemedeiros.wordpress.com/
Nice to meet you all!

Who you are- Most people call me Los
Where you live- PA
How you found the forums- A simple google search for classic game forums. Was a member of the videogamecritics boards but that forum is weird.
What your favorite games are- Most Castlevania games. Castlevania SOTN is my favorite game of all-time. I mostly enjoy adventure games and classic action-rpgs such as: Zelda, Alundra, Landstalker, but this genre seems to have disappeared. I also like driving and some sports games. I hate strategy, military, simulation, puzzle, and most FPS games.
What systems you collect for- Currently, none. Hard times. Don't even own any of the current-gen systems. I had a 360, but got red rings and sold it for parts. I used to collect for a few different systems like Genesis, SNES, Turboduo/Grafx, ps1 and ps2. Even had an Atari Lynx, Saturn, and Dreamcast back in the day.
What you do in "real life"- Currently, I'm a loser trying to get back on my feet and get back with my family. Not sure if this question is about hobbies or occupation.
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.- Not sure if anything in my life would be interesting to anyone. I did have an NES with R.O.B. when it first came out. I played the 2600 before that but NES was the system that hooked me and 16-bit was the golden era to me. I still have TONS of old EGM, Gamepro, and Diehard Gamefan mags somewhere in storage. Brings back memories thinking back to a time before the internet.
Anyways, hello
cfriedel
08-22-2012, 04:50 PM
Who you are- Cliff Friedel, but you can call me Cliff Friedel
Where you live- Ridgway, PA
How you found the forums- CGE 2010, but just getting active since CGE 2012.
What your favorite games are- River Raid for the Atari 2600, M.U.L.E. on the Atari 800, Galaga and Track and Field in the arcades, Gyruss or Zelda on NES, Bride of Pinbot for Pinball. Probably a bunch of others I missed.
What systems you collect for- I collect for a lot of systems although it is getting harder by the day since sources are drying up near me. If I see something old and interesting though, I will get it. I collect playable stuff instead of what I would call "collector's items".
What you do in "real life"- I am an independent IT consultant. I run an IT consultant company called Cliff's Consulting Services in Ridgway, PA.
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.- I have been playing videogames or working on computers since I was 5, which was in 1979. I would guess that my parents probably missed out on buying a nicer house from supplying me with quarters throughout the 80s. Had an 8-bit Atari and an Amiga that I still have today and occasionally pull out of mothballs to play. Also have a lot of consoles that I like to play when I get the chance. Hope to pass the classic vdeogame bug on to my daughters to keep the legacy going.
Hope to get more active on the forums and see you guys at the next CGE!
BTW, I have videos of CGE 2012 on my youtube channel, cfriedel123. Feel free to watch them and subscribe if you like. You can also reach me on facebook or google+ with the name Cliff Friedel or on twitter as @CliffFriedel. I'm always looking to meet new people in the community!

I'm Dai aka ultimaweapon 32 from Illinois. I've been a fan of retro gaming for over 20 years. Atari 2600 Mario Bros. was my very first game ever played. Since then, I just adore classic PS1 RPGs, N64, SNES, NES, Genesis, Master System, and Neo Geo. I peaked at the old XBOX. All this new gen crap does not impress me. 360, Wii, & PS3 blaaahhhh. Games are about flashy graphics and saturating the genre of shooters. True games are works of art, like the ones back in the day. I've got a few niece pieces in my collection. Will look to buy/sell/trade when I'm able to.

Hello all. I have been playing video games my whole life and collecting for at least a few years now. I do not have the largest collection, but I believe I have a few of some of the more rare items out there. I joined this forum, because I don't really know anyone who shares my interest in collecting and playing video games. I love NES and SNES, but I have many other systems and the games to go with them- including Intellivision, Dreamcast, N64, Gamecube, Wii, PS2, and PS3. I recently fell into Colecovision and Atari 2600 collecting as well, acquiring some great items in the process. I hope to see some great collections and share my own, so hopefully I will find the best place to do that. I've got a few items I would like to hear some reactions on, which I could not find much info about on the internet. See you around.

Who/What/Where/How: I'm Amy, I live in England, through not-so-intense googling,
Favorite Games: Probably Sonic and Columns (mmm, I know right?)
Collect for: Anything PS2 or under that I can get my hands on
RL: Real life doesn't exist! =)
Not-so interesting facts:
I'm 18, and I've always enjoyed older systems for some reason. I don't know why exactly, they've always just appealed to me more. So I started buying them, and modding them, learning how they work. Nothing else to say on that really, it's just a fun thing to do. The first system I ever played on was a MegaDrive, and I still have that MegaDrive to this day. Can't say the same for any of my other original systems though, they're all gone =(
I had a MegaDrive when they were already outdated, I guess we couldn't afford anything newer? Most of my original games are gone (by original, I mean ones I had when I was younger), except: this m6 multi-cart (Sonic, Columns, Revenge of Shinobi, etc), Street Fighter 2, and Zool. I had a lot more than that. Zool used to be glitchy, but I found out the contacts were slightly corroded, it works fine now. The m6 multi-cart perished yesterday for some unknown reason (it looks like someone cut the connectors with a knife! Noone else has access to them and it was just sat on my desk, so how that happened I don't know!) and I performed emergency ressusitation last night in the form of dismantling it and soldering the sliced connectors together. It was messy, but it's now alive once more! =)
Wow... That uhh... turned into a ramble...
If you're wondering about the systems and games I own, I don't keep count of the games.
I have a bizzare number of playstations and megadrives that I just... ended up with? 5 MegaDrive 2's and 6 HD Graphics and Sound model ones. I don't know why either! As for playstations, I have one slim playstation and about 5 non-slim-playstations... 2 slim PS2's and 1 non-slim...
I also have 2 NES' (one faulty, a similar connector problem to the cartridge, bought on eBay for 99p, so I'll fix that eventually) and one working, a SNES, Master System 2 (with composite out mod), 4 Game Gears (all working ^-^), 2 GBA's (one boxed, in perfect condition, one backlight modded), a GameBoy colour, a faulty GameBoy Pocket, a working original GameBoy, two 2600's (one Jr, one woodgrain) and a GBA-SP.
I know I'm definately missing some things... Whenever I try and write a list of anything, I miss something REALLY obvious, and I'm not at home right now so I can't check! xD
For games, like I said, I don't really keep track. I just pick up a few now and then. I have quite a few megadrive games, PSX games, and gameboy games. I have at least 3 games for every other system. I just pick up the games when I see them, so I don't intensly collect games.
EDIT: Haha! I was right, as soon as I posted I realised I forgot to list: Dreamcast, Saturn, MegaCD (UK here =D), 32x and N64!! I was expecting to have forgotten one thing, but those?! Really?! How?! xD
EDIT #2: Oh, and I'm also the owner of three original XBOX's, I don't really like them. They just sit there, staring at me whenever I'm in the room. I didn't buy them, they just sort of landed on my lap.
Johnny Nintendo
09-08-2012, 06:32 AM
Hello, my name is Ricky, I live in Southeast Georgia. I'm 28 and I work in the pulp mill department of a paper mill.
I grew up on Nintendo, Ghostbusters, Wrestling, and Ninja Turtles.
I mostly collect NES/SNES and N64. I do have a SEGA Outrun arcade that I scored from a thrift store.
I was informed about DigitalPress from a guy that had a retro game store in a flea market.
I have been lurking around here for two years now and finally decided to register. I also use to do some independent wrestling on the side but not so much lately.
I got the nickname Johnny Nintendo from a friend's older brother. Back when Goldeneye/Mario Kart 64/wcw vs nWo world tour was hot, my friends older brother and his friends would gang up on me, eventually I got better, and when I started beating all of them, they started calling me Johnny Nintendo. They would get so upset because on Goldeneye I would play the facility with proximity mines and the license to kill mode, then I would run around and throw the mines in all of the respawn locations. That was back before anyone called them respawn locations. Anyway, feel free to contact me.

I'm Shane and I was referred here by a member of Nintendoage. I mainly play NES but I enjoy the various Nintendo, Sega and Sony systems. My favorites have to be the Ninja Gaidens, Mega Mans, and Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu. Aside from the NES I'd say Resident Evil would be my favorite series.
As a collector my main goal is to get protos for Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2. Some really cool members at NA helped me obtain a Ninja Gaiden III proto.
Looking forward to becoming familiar with these boards!

Hello everyone!
Might as well introduce myself while I'm at it.
So as far as generic info goes, I'll chuck these pieces of genericity toward you: I'm 18 years old for the time being, from Finland and schtuff like that.
I do let's plays on youtube on nes, snes, genesis and indie games, which of I don't have that many yet, but I do that contiunuously, so whatever :pp
(If anyone's interested, here's my channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/RetroishDude))
So yeah, I play a lot of retro- and indie games... actually almost solely, heh.
And what comes to my other hobbies, I play guitar and write music, write in general and... yup, can't think of much more right off the bat.
Anyway, this concludes my generic intructionary greeting ;D

Hi my name is Frank and im from Montreal, im 33 years old and have been a gamer since i was 3!! I started gaming on Intellivision (and still enjoy treasures of tarmin, this has got to be the most underrated game ever, so ahead of its time!) and then on commodore 64. My very first console I owned was a Sega Master System that my dad bought me when I was 8, and have been a Sega Fanboy since! I own all consoles from sega and have some still brand new and sealed!! My most valuable item in my collection would be my french NTSC copy of Zelda on SNES, Its brand new I only played it once and is in perfect shape, I didnt know it was worth that much but saw the prices on ebay last week and was quite surprised! I would like to start moding classic consoles (see my first thread!) and maybe start selling them, custom professional paint jobs and high definition mods with pc inside classic consoles... see ya around!

hey,
I'm Joshua. you can call me whatever you'd like.
Perhaps- Josh, Joshie, or Josheroo.
I don't really care. It's all good to me. :D
I like turbografx/pc engine and most of the 16-bit generation. I also enjoy Saturn with it's awersome library of imports. I hope to get a Neo Geo AES/MVS again someday.:ass:

Hello,
Well my nick as you can see is Neverzinho and I'm from Portugal and I work for HP as a Salesman. I've found this forum when i was searching how to mod SNES, then i stayed for general topics.
I've always been a fan of old gaming systems and in the last couple of weeks I've started to collect them, as well games for them. Somehow a guy that didn't know what he was selling, the NES 4-pack in the original box, completely unused, almost no dust inside, for just 20 (~$25) waked up my "need" to collect old system so i soon acquired a SNES, SMS, DC, etc.
Right now my collection is a little short (SMS, MD2, NES, SNES and some CD-based (Dreamcast and Saturn)) apart from mega drive (or genesis) that i grow up playing, i don't have more than 10 games for each system, but with time and patient i hope that my collection will grow up.
That sums it up, see ya around.

Hello there all you wonderful people.
My name is Anthony.I'm currently unemployed, but have spent many of the past few years working in the retail sales world. Exciting, huh?
I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember, a story I'm sure many of you can relate to.
I cut my teeth on the the Atari 2600 and the NES. I've alternated between Nintendo and Sega fanboy throughout my life. Now I'm just an obsessed gamer who doesn't really pick sides. Primarily, my modern gaming is relegated to PC, particularly Steam games, with more than a little TF2 going on each week.
Over the years, I've had an on and off relationship with collecting games. Now, it's on. I'm currently in the process of getting my collection to a respectable place. In other words, I'm pulling boxes out of storage and getting this stuff up on shelves where it deserves to be. The collection features consoles and games from throughout my life, but is heavily focused on 8 and 16 bit era stuff. I've got quite a bit of "just last gen) stuff too, but unfortunately a flood at one storage site made a lot of that not so worth keeping. I've also got a fairly good collection of US Dreamcast games, one of my favorite systems of all time.
Anyway, I'm working on a site, which I may share later, to showcase and catalog my collection. It's not some massive, blow you away kind of deal, to be honest. But I just feel like sharing with the rest of the gaming world. I also do guest spots and occasional writing for a video game podcast/blog. Again, I'm not going to plug that at the moment. I'd rather take some time to show that I'm here to do more than plug my stuff :P
Anyway, there's not much else to say about me, I don't really like talking about that guy anyway.

My name is Jack. I'm 23. I live in California. As of right now, I'm unemployed but I'm a college student trying to get my bachelors degree. I found the forum when I first started collecting, but I never had the courage to sign up before. I've been collecting video games for around 10 years, I started when I was 13. The reason I started collecting was because growing up I didn't really have many videos games. I used to collect everything back when I first started, but I recently started to downsize. I still collect for most Nintendo and Sega systems. My most prized console has to be the vectrex.
Hello and nice to meet all of you.

heh, is anybody reading this?
.. My name is Jason. I am big on Vectrex.
I'm from Cincinnati. I went to film school. I'm not a filmmaker.
I'm currently designing a new Vectrex game, in collaboration with an established Vectrex homebrewer.
I'm pretty versatile in my gaming interests, though I do avoid computer games. With a handful of exceptions, I generally have a negative opinion of modern console games. Best games ever to me are:
Shadow of the Colossus
Marble Madness (nes)
Defender
Web Wars (vectex)
Asteroids (arcade)
Bionic Commando
Zelda Link to the Past
Advance Wars DS
Lemmings (all versions)
Ico
(Mario Soccer) (gamecube)

I mostly collect SNES but I also aim for Sega Genesis, NES and Nintendo 64.
I still go to school >.> not for another grade though (currently in 11). I mostly study Electronics and other stuff i'm good at like astronomy, music, game development and console home-brewing.
I began collecting like about 2 months ago when i decided to revisit my super nintendo after it's been sitting in my living room for about 15 years. Got around to finishing Star Fox under 32 minutes in my spare time. Not much to say but i'm happy to have found the forums and hope to enjoy it here!

Greetings from the Great Underground Empire. I am Froboz, an author who wishes to remain anonymous (not because I'm famous... I'm not).
My first introduction to the world of gaming was Pong, which may give you an idea of my age. But the first game that really gained my interest and sparked my imagination was the text adventure game Zork. It was shortly after that that I also started to get into Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, and eventually, all of the computer games based on it. I also used to create my own simple text adventure games on my Commodore 64.
My favourite C64 games included Zork I, Zork II, Raid on Bungeling Bay, Curse of the Azure Bonds, and The Hobbit (another text adventure game). I also played a lot of Ultima, The Bard's Tale, and similar games to those.
There was also an Apple IIe at school & we used to play Karateka on that a lot. Also, a friend of mine had Castle Wolfenstein for his computer which we loved playing together. Achtung! There were most likely others I don't recall now. Another friend of mine had an Intellivision & I used to enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons and Tron on that. I played a lot of arcade games also, usually in the pizza shop near my junior high school. At the time my faves were Sinistar, Gauntlet, Millipede, Centipede, and Galaxian. I also loved the idea of Joust, but couldn't get the hang of playing it.
Then I got a Colecovision with the Atari 2600 adapter. My faves then became Venture, Atlantis, Cosmic Avenger, Space Fury, Galaxian, Mr. Do, Zaxxon, Gyruss, and probably one or two other Atari games I can't think of right now. I never liked Donkey Kong all that much, but later I would become a huge fan of Super Mario Bros (I also enjoyed Donkey Kong Country).
I would eventually own a NES, SNES, PS1, then PS2, and finally N64, and in addition to all of these my main gaming buddy would also buy a TurboGrafx-16, for which our favourite game was Dungeon Explorer. Of the later games that came out my faves were Legend of Zelda, The Goonies, The Lord of the Rings, A Link to the Past, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Doom, Doom II, Final Doom, Diablo, Legacy of Kaine, Soulreaver, Baldur's Gate I & II, Drakkan, The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, and ahhh... my memory is such a blur, but I'm sure as I continue to participate in these forums I'll be reminded of many many more titles...
Anyway, my favourite game of all time is Black Isle's PC game Baldur's Gate (now called Original Saga).
I no longer have any working systems other than my PC & a PS2, so now when I want to play any of the other classic console games I am obliged to use emulators.

Hi guys :D
My name is Tom, I'm from Carteret, NJ and I work in the tool rental department of the Edison NJ Home Depot.
I've been gaming for as far as I can remember. The earliest memories of me playing was on a nes (my 2nd one from what I've been told by family) with about 2 shoe boxes (woman's size 7) full of games. Since then I've owned a NES, Genesis (ver.1), SNES, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360 Elite, and PS3 (20 Gig 2 usb, upgraded to 350 Gig) in that order.
I've been in and out of interest of a lot of things in my life (I'm 24 btw) but gaming has always been around, up to this point though (as of yesterday) I have a PS3 and my genesis which is in the closet right now. Me being the child genius that I was I decided to trade all my stuff at my local gamestop (I miss funcoland) for the latest and "greatest" and now I highly regret doing that. I always have found older games more fun, engaging, and much higher value than a lot of games out now imo.
I heard of Digital Press while I was on the hunt for some retro games that weren't overpriced to hell or sold on ebay or my "local" pawn shop (which is shady as hell from what I've researched) and I found this place on google maps which is about an hour away from me. When I walked in and saw all the games and found an employee who actually knows something about games (she was very nice and friendly btw, never caught her name but I hope all the best with her pregnancy) I almost cried I was so happy.
2 Hours later I came home with a Dreamcast and Gamecube, the 2 consoles i missed and loved the most, and will most deff. be coming back for more games and gear. That's all for me now, see you guys around :D

Ive been lurking around for a few days now and only now noticed the intro thread LOL
hello, My names Brian. I'm from NJ by way of MA. I happened upon the digitalpress website while searching for videogame stuff here in NJ and that lead me to these forums. I love it here. i used to be a devote forum goer but its been years since ive found one i felt i could stick with.
i just recently decided to start collecting videogames. I have loved them my whole life starting when i was 5 and my grandmother bought me my first NES. I finally decided i wanted to start collecting consoles and games when i realized that some day consoles are going to be as arcade machines are now. hard to find and a novelty to have in the home. since i didnt grow up in the old school arcades my nostalgia lies with consoles (although i do think about getting a stand-up machines now and again). right now i have a 2600, genesis 2, NES, WII, PS3, and 360. im also lucky enough to have a TV that can have all of them hooked up at once.
another thing that lead me to start wantign the old consoles was the fact that i work in an electronics test lab. we test microchips and such and i have access to everything i would need to repair and refurb old systems. now i just need to teach myself how to :P
outside of videogames I'm a huge LOBO (from DC Comics) collector. I like to think i have the biggest LOBO collection in the world (i am basing that on nothing except the fact of 'who the hell collects only Lobo stuff" :P) and i was lucky enough to be in Digital Press when i heard someone mention they had the Lobo Video game from the Genesis that was never released. I snatched it up as soon as i got bakc to the counter.
anyway, thats way too much about me and i hope to be around here for a while.

Hello everyone. My name is Brandon. I'm 24 years old and live in St. Louis MO (If you live in or near the area feel free to hit e up). I'm unemployed ATM due to being laid off but I worked in the IT field from held desk to network administration. I also play fighting games competitively but that has been going slow due to em being unable to travel...because I dont have a job at the moment. So I just play locally. My main games are Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition 2012.
I've been playing games since I was 3. My first console was NES and first games were SMB/Duck Hunt and Batman. In time I got SNES and Genesis. My mom eventually sold my NES and all the games...which were ALL in boxes and good shape to get me a N64 and Saturn. In time also ended up selling my older consoles for a PS3, 360, and Wii. Why? Because I had emulators. But as time went on....playing emulators just didnt feel the same. Not even playing them on Wii's VC was the same. I started to regret getting rid of my older games :(
So now here I am. Picking up the broken gaming pieces of my childhood and rebuilding. But now I have complete control over what I own. My collection of course is small for now but grows every week. But I'm not just doing this to collect. I'm also doing it, to play the games. I missed out on a lot of games and haven't played many in years. So its a mixture of playing and collecting. I've starting with NES and SNES games and will soon be going onto Genesis and so forth. I look forward to this because there's so much to get and so much I haven't played. I'm really excited honestly! I've got a LONG adventure ahead of me. Hm....maybe starting over wasn't so bad after all. :)

Hi all! I haven't been here in quite some time, so I thought I should reintroduce myself. I'm Retroguy. I got an NES for Christmas when I was four years old and I've been a gamer ever since. Now, I'm a collector. I've been collecting seriously for about two years now. I started by focusing on hardware, but now that I've got all but three of the systems I want (I'm still missing the Vectrex, the Sega CD and the Turboduo), I'm starting to focus on games. My favorite systems are the NES, Atari 2600, TurboGrafX 16, Sega Game Gear, N64 and Sega Saturn.
I am autistic, but don't let that fool you. I'm pretty intelligent. I live in The Middle Of Nowhere, NC, so I usually do all my game shopping online (although there is one game store nearby that has tons of Nintendo stuff). See ya around!

Hello everyone! I'm ChrisNGibbs! I've been a gamer all of my life. The number the of games I own are too many to list off on the top of my head. I don't live around any gamers that take what they do seriously. So I came looking for a forum. The consoles I own are:
Playstation 1,2,3
Xbox, XBox360
Sega Dreamcast,
NES, SNES, N64
It'll eventually get bigger over time. My favorite video games are:
StarTropics (NES)
Star Fox (SNES)
Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
Deus Ex (PC)
Forever Kingdom (PS2)
My hobbies are writing, collecting, pin-ups (yeah, I make that a hobby) and photography. Unfortunately, I don't have a thousand and one hobbies. As a paying job I work as a sales associate at Brookestone in a mall in St. Louis. I'm also a freelance journalist who focuses mostly on video games. Since I've graduated college in May review every game I try collect, both text and video reviews. I have started to take collecting seriously in my last semister in college.

Hello everyone!
I'm new to the site but been a lurker for a long time. I have been gaming ever since I was 5 when my family got the Atari 2600 and from there it got me hooked to video games. I went through a chain of game systems growing up like the Atari 2600, Coleco Vision, Texas Instruments TI-99, NES, etc. I have always collected video games and consoles but just recently got into it seriously. I have heard nothing but good things about this site and the community, so I decided to become apart of it. I hope to meet some cool people and enjoy my time here.

I'm turboswimbz, break that up however you will. It doesn't bother me any way you type it. I'm from NJ, been playing since bonk's adventure when I was 3. I am a huge Turbografx-16 and PC Engine player/fan/collector. I have many Nintendo systems though although I do not really collect for them at this time; just a pure player. However I did just started collecting and playing Sega systems as well. (got a genesis and some games) I am slowly getting more and more into classic games. Found the forums from a couple of other forums and by wandering into the store and needing to know the address to get back. Right now I'm still messing around with higher education, working on a masters and PhD in the sciences. Hope to meet as many of you as possible and talk some retro gaming.

I tend to be bad at these free form, so I'll just turn it into a Q/A :P
- Who you are
My name is Brian "Battyone" Taylor, I am a long time computer and console gamer (mostly 5th Gen and older consoles).
- Where you live
New Jersey, USA :D
- How you found the forums
I've lurked these forums for a year or two, saw a post on FF7 PC and decided that was my que to join and start discussing.
- What your favorite games are
This is a very hard question, I really don't have a favorite game so much as a Hall of Fame. Games that make the hall of fame are ones that have impacted my perception of video gaming forever. A few examples, Doom (first PC game), Quake 2 (the reason I bought a Voodoo 3 back in the day), Super Star Wars (I love star wars, and the game's fun!), Zelda 64 (for taking away hours and hours of my life), Starfox 64 (same), Warcraft 2 (Same), etc. It's like asking what your favorite child is!
- What systems you collect for
PC (emphasis on late 90's early 2000's/the 3d Epoch), Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, anything else I can get my hands on that's interesting/odd. Nothing too hardcore.
- What you do in "real life"
Systems Administrator
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
My expertise is PC gaming, it was just the number one thing I did, when my parents split and the SNES got lost I discovered emulation (circa 1998) and that just sorta helped solidify my stance as a PC gamer. While nothing beats the original console hooked up to the right kind of television, emulation was a quick and dirty fix that integrated in well with my interest in computers. I built my first gaming rig in 2000 with allowance I saved up over a year, and it's been an obsession ever since. My dream one day is to have precise spec-wise replicas of every IBM pc I've ever owned.

Hi,
I'm Neil Carr, part of the Uncle Robot Presents team. I'm from Columbia, MO.
I've been into gaming since my dad brought home Pong, then an atari 2600 (which I still have). I have to say my favorite retro game is Pitfall.
Uncle Robot is a webcomic production company led by my good friend Martin Pope. His current project is 'Vorto the Pirate', a retro sci-fi comic which I hope you'll enjoy. Thanks.

darshie
12-25-2012, 07:00 PM
Hi Folks!
I am darshie from the bay area; found this forum while looking for some PC Engine info via the usual Google :)
I am an old school player, started with a Mattel Intellivision, then got a C64, Snes, Genesis, Amiga and a PC. Then once I've landed a job I started to buy all the old console that I just dreamed about while I was young.
The Amiga is what is still in my heart nowadays; had great games and was the first computer where I learned how to program (fist in basic, then in C and then Assembly for 68000); I was dreaming to learn how to program on a console and become a game dev, but it never happened :)
I do not consider myself a collector, since I buy and sell based on the space available and on the feeling of the moment, regarding a specific platform (I've had them all, or most of them); but probably the truth is that when I hear my wife yelling because I have too many games, I get rid of them :D
So far I have: A dreamcast, Xbox360, Ps2, Ps3, PSP, PC Engine GT, Saturn, Ipad and an a mac; got rid of my small console collection not too long ago (Snes, Genesis, Mega Cd, Neo geo pocket, Lynx, Gamegear
I spend a good time using emulators, I love to program, and work as sw engineer in a bay area company. Sadly I do not make anything game related, but it is fun to write code. Other than that I love to play guitar, watch good movies (the term "good" is highly relative and personal, I know...to mention something that I like: Lord of the rings trilogy, Blade Runner, Star trek and few others) and listen good music.
I am an RPG lover and an anime addicted, especially if they have mecha, good story and a lot of action; but I enjoy also fantasy, fighting or scifi themed series. I just can't stand things like Orange road and Tenchi muyo and similar :) But I can watch a movie made by Miyazaki without problems...if it is well done, and has a good story I may enjoy it, no matter which one is the setup.
I hope to find other fellow game lovers, that may want to exchange opinions and talk about games or systems!

Hi everyone!
My gaming background starts back in 1997 about, when I was five, we were given an NES with Super Mario/Duck Hunt. Afterwards, I got a N64 and played a few games on that. But since I didn't play with the NES anymore my parents gave it away. Same thing when I got a PS2, the N64 went out the door unfortunately. At the same time as the PS2, I ventured into PC gaming for most of high-school. Into college, I got a PS3 last year but recently nostalgia hit me...
A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to relieve some fond childhood memories (gaming wise) and went off to buy a front loading NES like I once had with Super Mario/Duck Hunt. While I'm at it, I thought: "Why not take the opportunity and try to play other games I didn't get the time to play back then?". So I'm going to try myself some Mega Man and original Metal Gear over the holidays.
I also remembered playing Sonic on a babysitter's Sega Genesis. So that will be next up on my list, along with a few other games I'd like to try out.
Throughout the last few weeks as I've been rediscovering 8 and 16-bit gaming, I often landed on these forums through Google searches and the information I found here has always been good! So I thought I'd finally drop by and say Hi, because I'll surely end up having some questions of my own :)
Hope to see you around!

Who you are
I'm Melody. (Hence screenname.)
Where you live
My family and I live in MD between Baltimore and DC.
How you found the forums
My husband and I have been collecting consoles and games for a little over two years now and I always end up on this site when looking up answers to questions. Finally decided to join after having visited for the past year.
What your favorite games are
I'm partial to the Final Fantasy series.
What systems you collect for
So far we have the majority of the 'major' systems back to Atari 2600. We collect for all.
What you do in "real life"
I work for a small nonprofit in DC. As well, I'm a mother and wife. We are a gaming family.
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
We started collecting so we could play the games from our childhoods. We also wanted our kids to enjoy some of the same games. Another factoid is that my husband and I met on FFXI and marrying in game before we did in real life. So far, it's worked out as we're coming up on our 8th year of marriage next week.

Hey:
I'm Marta, from Spain. I have been collecting videogames for real for about 2 years but I've been a player all my life. I have every console from the NES to today (except for the Wii >.<) If I had to choose one among them it would have to be the Dreamcast. I love mainly RPGs, Strategy and Simulation games and Graphic Adventures.
I still have a lot to learn about videogames and collecting but I'll try to help whenever I can.

Hi, I'm Hairymunky! I live in Ayrshire, Scotland (the home of Gowf [golf], and Rabbie Burns, and the Amiga 600 was built here). I don't play games, or at least I have the attention span of a fish. I am more interested in the technology behind the machines (especially 8-bit home computers). I love taking old machines that don't work, or are in a poorly state, and breathing new life back into them. I come here today, because Im thinking of getting a Philips Videopac that doesn't work. The fact there is a restoration forum, makes me happy - I like to restore these old machines! Think I may be here a while. I also have a collection of home computers (mainly from here, in the UK and the 80s), that I remember from being a teenager, and some consoles (megadrive, GC, Xbox, PS-1, VideoPrinz). Anyway, that's enough rabbiting on from me.... Bye folks.

Hi,
My name is John. But please do not hesitate to call me James! Currently I live in Barcelona where I study EE. I like cheesy and sobadthattheyaregood games. Y'know that genre. I collect games for the PSX/PS2/Dreamcast/Genesis/Gameboy.
And when I'm not occupied with gaming or collecting, I enjoy the great city and try to learn Espaņol.

Whaddup everybody, my name is Zach. I live in Seattle WA. Rather than go through every system I do collect for, I guess it's easier to say the only major systems I DON'T collect for are the Saturn and the Turbografix / PC-Engine. Pretty much everything else, be it Nintendo, Sony or Sega I play and collect. Favorite system is easily the Super Nintendo as it's the first system I bought with my own money when I was eight years old, but I'd been playing games before that since growing up my dad owned an Intellivision and I would regularly visit Showbiz Pizza Place with my mom.
I also run a Tumblr account where I do artwork in Mario Paint. And I'll make special mention that this is all done on the actual hardware, and with an SNES mouse and mousepad, no cheating here! Check it out, it'd mean a lot to me: http://mariopaintart.tumblr.com/

My name is Bill.
I live an hour west of Chicago.
I am an assistant manager at a warehouse.
I've always had video games growing up but didn't start collecting until about 2 years ago when on a whim I bought a boxed NES action set off Craigslist and the guy also dugout a Fairchild he had in his closet since he was a kid.
Now I collect just about everything that I can get for cheap. Most of my purchases are off craigslist, goodwill, or flea markets. I grew up watching Antiques Roadshow with my grandma and going to garage sales and flea markets and options and I find the hunt for video games to be just as fun as playing them. I recently bought a collection off of craigslist for $900 and have pretty much doubled the size of my collection to around 1500 games and 80 systems. I'm pretty much at my maximum allowance for space so I will need to downsize and focus my collection before I buy more.
I am lucky to have my brother live across the street and have always played a lot of co op and 2 player games with him ever since childhood. Mario Kart, Goldeneye, contra, north and south, and MULE Being some of our favorites.
I love all of the conventional Nintendo classics as well as games such as Eternal darkness, animal crossings, Golden Sun, Shadow of the Colossus, adventure, surround, Bioshock and World of Warcraft.

Hello, I am Michael from Ronks, Pennsylvania.
My favorite games are Uncharted Waters, PTO II, and Iron Soldier. The first two for SNES, and the last for Jaguar. I collect the NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy, Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, and Saturn systems, and games thus far. I have many more I want to dive into someday. I am only interested in collecting the US Release Games. The whole import scene don't interest me to much, though they have some great games.
I am a Cook irl, and enjoy my job. I cook at the Penn National Off Track Wagering in Lancaster PA.
I began collection because I miss the value, and challenge of the retro games. All the 360, and PS games now a days are incomplete, have no depth or challenge, and just take too much money to actually get a full game experiance out of with all these DLC's, etc.

I think after 5 or so years of being gone I should introduce myself again
Im Jason, 29 yrs old from NJ.
My big interest is Atari 8 bit systems games and accessories. My first system was an atari XEGS back in 1987. Then progressed into nintendo and on up. Back in my collecting days in the early 2000s i had a huge collection of any and all systems you can think of. Over time I sold off items and cleared out many collections I had and bought a classic car. But now I focus on my original system that got me started with my video game hobby. Perhaps one day Ill dabble back into the SNES area.
I work Full time as an EMT-B for a paid company in NJ and also volunteer 2 days a week on my local down squad.

Hi,
I'm Brian. I like to collect and repair vintage computers. I love retro games and grew up with NES, Game Boy, SNES, N64, Win95 PC and an Apple IIGS. I host a youtube channel where I show some old computers and play old games, many obscure lesser known ones. I'm 27 and I live in Norway.
Some of my favorite games are:
* Super Metroid (probably my #1 of all time)
* Chrono Trigger
* Castlevania I, III and SOTN
* Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
* Fallout 1
* Demon's Souls
* Dark Souls
I'm not a collector, but rather someone who enjoys solid gameplay (ie. games that require you to actually make an effort, rather than just mindlessly mashing buttons) that isn't bogged down by too much storyline bullshit - something rather rare in modern games.
I had a SNES since the early 90s (probably '91 or 92), which was my main gaming platforum until the mid-90s when I got more into PC games as well.
I never cared much for the following generation of consoles (N64 and PS1), as many PS1 games tried to do 3D, and did it really badly, looking worse than good previous generation 2D games - on N64 I pretty much only played SM64 at a friend's house, and never particularly liked it, so based on that I decided that all 3D platformers (and 3D games in general at the time) must be crap and ignored the console. (of course, I later found out that it had quite a few decent games, if nothing as great as SNES)
After my original SNES broke in 1998 or so, I pretty much completely switched to PC gaming (although a year or so later, I discovered the existence of emulation, and so much of my PC gaming from then on involved emulators) until 2004 when I decided to get a PSOne, which were cheap at the time and easy to find games for. Even though I still don't consider it a great console overall (it has a few greats that I know of, Castlevania:SOTN and Rayman mainly), I had quite a bit of fun playing it. A year later I got a PS2, and in 2006 I discovered the Sly Cooper series of games which finally disproved my belief that all 3D platformers sucked. Since then, I've been keeping up with all the current-gen consoles, although I still probably spend more time playing old games through emulation.
Hello all,
My name is Zach (on the internet I go by ZP3) and I am a game collector from the West Side of Des Moines, Iowa. I am a classic goodwill crawler, always looking for a deal!
I am a huge Nintendo fan, but I like anything Sega as well. I am only 17, so my first console was the Gamecube, but I collect NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Genesis, Dreamcast, as well as any Nintendo or Sega handhelds.
I have been playing games forever, but have only recently started collecting. Any leads on stuff in the Des Moines area, let me know!
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

I have found some decent stuff; a Dreamcast with 2 controllers, a game, and a vmu; bunches of NES and Genesis games (Nothing too rare); and the occasional controller or Gamecube game. It does seem to be pretty dry around these parts, unfortunately.
