Hi!
I've loitered a while and enjoyed reading a lot, so I decided to join up. This is me . . . .
- Who you are: Just call me Lewton, Private Eye. :pimp:
- Where you live: UK.
- How you found the forums: Googled . . . . PLUS, of course, some pretty clever investigation work.
- What your favorite games are: Nearly always point & click adventure games and puzzle games - some very obscure. Although I'm partial to the odd action adventure too, and recently discovered Oblivion. Favourite games include; Monkey Island series, Gabriel Knight series, Grim Fandango, Discworld series, Culpa Innata, Outcast, early Tomb Raider games, Toonstruck, Stupid Invaders, King's Quest series, The Dig, The Longest Journey, The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: Case of the Rose Tattoo, Amber, Obsidian, Morpheus, Touche the Adventures of the Fifth Musketeer, Neverhood, Scratches, Sanitarium, Blackstone Chronicles, The Black Mirror, Maupiti Island, Broken Sword (1 & 2), Lure of the Temptress, Beneath A Steel Sky, Bad Milk . . . . I could go on.
- What systems you collect for: Most generations of DOS and Windows PC systems and some PS1 and PS2 titles.
- What you do in "real life": Mad Scientist (and moonlighting as a P.I.)
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: Began collecting around 10 years ago. Fell in love with adventure games through the Broken Sword series. Wish I had the time to play more. Keen outdoorsy type and like to get out in the wilds a lot, which conflicts with my gaming interests.
I know PC discussions aren't too common here, especially ones about adventure games, but still I'm looking forward to getting involved in some (hopefully) adventure gamey talk ............. and maybe others too.

Greetings from the west coast of Ireland. My name is Matt and I live here with my wife and two children. I just turned 31 last month.
Always been a fan of gaming in general, I started off with an Commodore A500.
I can't forget how great those games for the Amiga were at the time.
Over the years my brother and I owned all the major consoles, still got most of them too. Neither of us, I guess like everyone on here, ever lost the enthusiasm for gaming. I collected a few rarities these past 6 or so years, my wife thinks I'm nuts! But, like I tell her, I could be spending my money on the bad things in life.
Favorite games - Shadow of the beast 2 , Mario 64, Final Fight, Turrican 2, Colony Wars and Goldeneye.
For a living we run a web business for the motorcycle touring market, we started up in 2004. I also have a little website (http://www.myretrocade.com) on the side, it's not long published and it's a way of getting back in touch with a few gamer types out there. Took quite some time to track down a forum like this, looking forward to meeting some like minded retro gamers. Best Regards.:bigmac:

Hi, I'm Scott from the UK
I found this forum by googling about RGB mods on 3DOs :-), My favorite games are platformers and isometric adventures like Alien8.
I collect pretty much anything, but mainly PCEngine, 3DO, MSX TurboR, Famicom and Atari 8bit.
In real life I work in electronics repair. I also help run a retro computer museum.

Hi, I'm TazVag...my avatar says it all.
I've been a gamer since as long as I can remember. To this day I only stick to the gaming I grew up with as a kid. Anything from Dreamcast on just didn't hold me as much as the gaming of the 90s. I've got a huge collection to prove it!!
I'm a college student now though, so I've decided to part with some of my collection in order to pay the bills. It ain't easy, but I think it's the responsible path for me right now. I can't recall how I found this forum, just know that I've been looking at it since back in the earlier half of this decade. Can't believe it took me this long to start posting.

Well everyone, I've been reading these boards for about a year now and this entire time it would never let me post anything. So a couple of days ago I finally emailed the administrator, or whatever they are called, and I didn't here a thing. So tonight I figured enough is enough, I rejoined and gave a different email address and wala. I"M IN.
Anyway, I'm probably the biggest video game freak, that actually doesn't play video games. I buy them, I collect them, I just rarely play them. So far this year I probably logged in about 20 hours worth. And about 19 of those hours were on Mario Kart Wii. Its not that I don't want to, its just I don't have the time. Oh well, some day I will.
I love the retro games more than anything. Nintendo and Sega mostly.
My favorite games are Madden, Tecmo Bowl, and RPG's. And of course Mario Kart for the Wii.
My prize position games are a few homebrew games that I bought from Game Reproductions back in January. I didn't even know those types of games existed until reading these threads. I bought the newest version of Tecmo Bowl, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Castle Vania. It just mind boggled me that I could play these games with different versions.
Anyway thats about it
Archangel
10-15-2009, 01:56 AM
Hello everyone..
My name is Lou, call me by that, Archangel, it does not matter too much to me.
I live in South Jersey, hopefully one day will be able to make it up to the DP store someday..
I have known about the forums since 2003, was a member once in 2004 but left for reasons I honestly cannot even remember anymore.
Favorite game: Earthbound, a close second would be Chips Challenge for the PC if anyone would remember that.
Systems I collect for? Various, I get a hold of a rare game, I have it protected and cased before anything else. Just recently I have obtained a Virtual Boy with a few games and I plan on trying to find a few more..
What I do in real life? College, I hate it but I do it so I can get my degrees in Network Administrating. On weekends I usually head out with my friends to farmers markets and various yard sales to scout out and obtain any rare or interesting game and or object.
My prize possession is probably my Virtual Boy as of now, fully functional, AC adapter, games, has really made it worth while to hunt more. Also have a few boxed games such as Mario 3 in perfect condition box and whatnot.
As for anything else, might as well ask me by PM...

10-17-2009, 05:35 PM
Tell us any or all of the following:
- Who you are
My name is Tyler Pugmire, hence the forum name tpugmire.
- Where you live
I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. (No I'm not Mormon, I hate when people ask that when they hear that I'm from Utah!)
- How you found the forums
I did a google search for video game collecting forum. I got sick of hanging on the nintendo.com tech forums.
- What your favorite games are
I like a wide variety of types of games, but I have to say that my favorite is old school nintendo (NES, SNES, N64), although I am enjoying the Wii quite a bit.
- What systems you collect for
Pretty much anything nintendo, I do have a PS2 that gets used more for a DVD player than a game console though.
- What you do in "real life"
I'm a friendly neighborhood FedEx man, husband, father, and all around cool dude!
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I've been playing games since I was a kid except when I was in high school. Games weren't cool at the time. Cars and girls replaced gaming for a while. I've recently slowly gotten back into it about 2 years ago. I realized that I'd made the move from gamer to collector when I found myself buying multiples of games I already own to trade with other gamers someday.

My Name is Daryl Hulver
I live in Strasburg Va
I found the forums while searching for a video game price guide
My favorite game used to be Metroid Prime, now I have to say Uncharted 2 takes the cake, it is unlike anything else I have ever played.
I collect for all systems, from the Odyssey to the PS3.
I work as a customer sales rep at a telecommunications company.
I am an avid comic book, dvd, and action figure collector also, but video games are my passion, I began collecting about 7 years ago when my now ex girlfriend gave me her NES still in box and about 20 games, it was a good day. I miss that girl, lol. I'm 22 years old and have a twin brother and a lot of friends who help me look for stuff to add to my collection, thanks you guys.

(Emerging from the shadows from which I've been lurking).
Confusion:
Hello? That's weird. I thought for sure I had made some posts already.
Rambling:
Anyway, hi again. I don't know much else to say rather than I'm very confused now, and I really like homebrew, especially 2600 homebrew and Dreamcast. I'm also a big chiptune fan, and enjoy being a member (a lazy, bad one) of NWCGE.
Excuses:
I've been very busy in the last couple years, but I'll try to stop by and participate. I missed the last 2 Portland expos, but I plan to be around more in 2010 if things go well.
Boring Real-Life Stuff:
I've met Y-bot & Mrs. Y-Bot, Rick, John, and Nathan (and a few others, sorry other people for forgetting names) but I still feel like a newbie in the classic gaming scene, and I wish I was born a decade earlier.
-Cheers
Also, what the eff? I don't remember that title. I get dubbed "Homebrew Evangelist" yet again? Eesh, I better make up for lost time and live up to it. :p

- Who you are - William
- Where you live - My hometown is Nashville, but I go to college at UTM. Hence my username.
- How you found the forums - Someone posted a link to a rarity guide somewhere. I've been using it for years. I finally decided to sign up.
- What your favorite games are - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, and Portrait of Ruin; Space Harrier; The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; Life Force (NES); Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past; Super Mario RPG
- What systems you collect for - I dunno if you could call me a collector anymore. I used to own... I dunno... 300 games or so. I sold off a third of them because, well, I thought a lot of them were horrible. Probably a good 40% of those were well-received titles, too. I DO collect 32X and VB because they don't take up much space and are by and large cheap systems to get complete libraries for. Still, I've only got roughly half of the 32X cartridge games (no 32X CD games) and 2 VB games. Beyond that, I've got an Odyssey^2, Vectrex (Mine Storm is seriously addicting, but I need to find a decent controller very badly as the previous owner seemingly abused it or let a pet or young child get a hold of it,) NES, SMS, Genesis, SNES, Saturn, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, GC, Xbox, Xbox 360, GBA, DS, and PSP. I've also got a Colecovision, but I haven't bothered with getting a power cord for it. I'd also have to find something worth playing, since I consider the original Donkey Kong to be an awful game. I never liked it, even when I was little.
- What you do in "real life" - I am a college student - a Communications (Broadcasting) / Political Science double major, to be precise.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. - Actually, I don't think I ever have been a collector aside from the two aforementioned systems. I buy games to play. To me, the term collector denotes something completely different from a gamer who has amassed a large collection of games he or she actually plays (or in the cases of the copy of Rugby 2006 that's been sitting on my shelf unplayed for the seven months I've owned it and the copy of StarTropics 2 that's been on my shelf for four years or so, intending to play,) but you folks can feel free to disagree.

- What your favorite games are - Ninja Masters, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Tatsunoko Fight, Castlevania: SotN, Super Castlevania 4, Rock N' Roll Racing
- What systems you collect for - Japanese PS2 mainly. Use to collect Japanse Saturn and Super Famicom but I have taken a break for awhile.
- What you do in "real life" - I am an engineer
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. - I got into imports after reading a bit about the Saturn version of Castlevania: SotN in some old game magazing back in 98 or 99. The Extra levels intrigued me so I sought the game out....found many other obscure/interesting Japanese games and ended up hooked. I am also a big fan of old cartoons! Ive spent wayyy to much cash on bootlegs of old toons that will never be released on DVD! (the gary coleman show, super globetrotters, turbo teen, etc.)

My name is Marc, I am 32, and I am from Las Vegas.
Hello new member here, not new to video gaming for sure. Anyone from PcEngineFX or Rising Stuff should know who I am. Everyone always talks about this place, and so I decided I'd finally drop the bomb and see what it's all about. Looks like it's pretty active here so that's always a great thing...
Anyways, a little more about me, I am 32 years old, been playing games since around 82 or so when I was 5. That's when we got our 2600. Didn't play much until the NES came out then it was all over but the gaming! Over the years went through a ton of consoles/handhelds and finally realized I needed to collect all of what I grew up on (this was about 10 years ago). So now I have a decent little collection of consoles and games, probaby nothing compared to some of you but anyways. Here's a list of the consoles that I currently own, not gonna worry about the games. I need to catalog everything I own, any recommendations?
NES
NES Toploader
SNES
N64
Game Cube
Wii
Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance SP
Nintendo DS Phat (X2)
FC Twin (SNES/NES)
Sega Nomad
JVC X'Eye (Sega CD/Genesis all-in-one)
Sega Dreamcast
Sega 32X
Panasonic 3DO FZ-1
XBOX
Playstation (5501?)
Playstation 2 Phat
Atari 2600 (CX2600A - 4 switch Woody)
That's all I can think of at the moment. I definitely play the older consoles a lot more than the newer ones. I just find older games so much better, maybe because I grew up on them.
Some of my favorite game series are:
Metroid - Favorite, I own every US Metroid release (except trilogy do I count that?
Castlevania - second favorite series - I have many, many CV's - including Dracula X Rondo of Blood for the PC Engine CD
Contra, Mega-Man (Have 1-6 on NES), Street Fighter (mostly the II series), Ninja Gaiden (none of that 3D Crap), Final Fantasy, Zelda, Dragon Warrior (currently playing Dragon Quest Monsters for DS)
Anyways, that's a little bit about me, I will check in from time to time and say what's up.

I'm Fredric, I live in Sweden and have stumbled upon this forum several times while googleing for various stuff.
I'm mostly into the Fairchild System, I collect, repair, program and build my own games for it. I have several different consoles for it, Luxor, SABA, ITT and an extensive collection of the original carts, Zircon, SABA, Luxor, ITT and Nordmende as well as a few Barco (same as Fairchild but their own instruction booklets). I programmed Pac-Man for Channel F together with another guy and have sold a few carts (with box and instruction booklet) and I have also finished a Multi-Cart that has all Channel F games versions and known prototypes.
I also have several VIC20s, C64s, Amigas, NES, a SNES, a N64, a PS2, an Xbox360.
For now it has been a lot of Guitar Hero (World Tour) and Full Auto on the 360. Other than that I have various favorite games for different systems.
I try and get my favorite games for the other systems but it's mainly Fairchild System that is collected. I was glad to find Spy Hunter on original cassette not long ago for the C64.
In real life I'm an electronics engineer, I currently work both as that but mainly for a personnel hiring company.
I began collecting after I found an old power supply for our first tv-game the Luxor Video Entertainment System (Fairchild System) in 1995 - about the same time that I could search for it on internet.

Hello, I am Alexander Badr. I make Youtube videos criticizing video games kind of like the Angry Video Game Nerd. Type Gamedude on Youtube and see for yourself if you want. Anyway, I live in British Columbia Canada and I own about 50 game consoles including the Fairchild Channel F. I go to film school right now and... Yeah...
Favorite game franchise. Well, of course that'll have to be Mario. Can't wait for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. That game will kick ass. Oh, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

What's this I hear in the FAQ about an introduce yourself thread?
Well, I am VanHelzen (as you may have already noticed right about <- there) which isn't my actual last name, but I thought it sounded sort of cool. I've been a determined collector of Video Games and similar media for a couple of years now. Especially rare classics that wouldn't be worth even 2 pennies had they actually sold well back in the day...but that's just part of my luck I guess.
Oh, and I enjoy betas. PHOAWR!

Hey guys I'm Austin! Aka Cardkeeper or Card for short. I'm almost 15, a freshmen in high school and live in the eastern United States. How I stumbled across this forum?? Well, it was a complete act of randomness from the heavens or whatever becuase I was looking for a good Video game site with google and watta ya know! I'm here! :) I don't actually COLLECT Video Games but I want to. My grandpa is a proffesional collector so I already have a couple serious collections. I especially like the N64 because it was the premiere system when I was a kid. With my favorite games being SSB and Super Mario 64. My collections are pretty serious so I normally want mine with all original inserts in immaculate condition factory sealed but that's just me. My friends call me nerotic Lol. Anyway, I hope to meet lots of new friends here and have some fun, so, until later, PEACE OUT!! \\^_^/

Hi my name is Manny. Like many others here I stumbled upon the actual Digital Press store this past summer while googling for old school video game stores. I currently work full time at a Greek restaurant in Livingston NJ and also do part time seasonal pyrotechnician work at Garden State Fireworks. In my free time I LOVE collecting various kiosks which hopefully many of us know what they are to save time. I currently have a Gamecube tower kiosk (rescued from a Gamestop dumpster in '05), a Nintendo DS kiosk (got free from Nintendo rep at a local Circuit City shutting down last year), and a totally FREE PS2 kiosk with the TV, key, and system (rescued from a Gamestop dumpster). I don't really enjoy going out too much and prefer to be more of the loner type, as such I enjoy spending as much time at Digital Press where I feel more welcomed and at home being amongst other gamers and games from all different eras. If anyone ever wants to ask about my kiosk collection or just talk in general about gaming, you can look for me at Digital Press, I'm the guy proudly displaying one of my Garden State Firework colored shirts.

Hi all, Some of you may recognise me from the AtariAge, Atari-Forum or the Free Jaguar Project forums. I was mentioned in a 7800 homebrew thread on here so I thought I'd better get myself signed up ;).
The Atari 7800 is my current retro development platform of choice. I don't think it was pushed to its technical limits back in the day. Its a good little 8-bitter with plenty of power in the graphics department. Its sadly lacking in a good built in sound chip (it uses TIA like the 2600) but you can't have everything LOL.

- Who you are
My name is Michael
- Where you live
Currently in Madison, Wisconsin, but originally from Massachusetts.
- How you found the forums
Googled for video game message boards and this seemed like the most frequented.
- What your favorite games are
Goldeneye, Ducktales, Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 3, Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy 7, Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda NES, Sonic 2, Ecco The Dolphin
- What systems you collect for
NES, SNES, N64 primarily. Also got a bunch of PS1 rpgs that I plan to play if I ever have time.
- What you do in "real life"
I'm a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin, studying Economics.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
A friend and I realized that video game collections are better than all other collections because you can actually do something with your collection as opposed to just hanging it up on a wall. Thinking about this, and thinking back on video games of my childhood has made me go back and pick up a lot of the games I used to love, and some others that I never had the chance to play.

Hi!!
*copy/paste activate!!*
- Who you are
I'm a 22 year old female (yup!) with a liking for anything that's anime, manga, Internet and retro gaming!! And anything that's a chemical explosive... 8-)
- Where you live
I've lived in Norfolk, Virginia for all of my life!
- How you found the forums
I stumbled onto them when I was looking for Super Famicom games to buy, and also when looking for a way to play Lagrange Point on an NES. I'm also a member on Racketboy!
- What your favorite games are
RPGs, puzzles, and shmups! Especially Tetris and all of its many incarnations. Also many games based on anime I like, even if the games' concept is stupid - the cute or coolness factor of the anime overrides it!
- What systems you collect for
SNES and Super Famicom. I have so many of those games and accessories, it's not even funny. (And I am amazed at the massive boxed/complete full set of SFC games that I believe one or two members here have...) I also have a fair-sized collection of GBC, GBA and DS games. I do occasionally dabble in NES, N64, GC and PS1/PS2 game collecting, and am aiming to start a Saturn collection in the near future.
- What you do in "real life"
I'm... currently unemployed *curses awful economy* but I'm a chemist by training and a licensed pharmacy technician. All I need is a job! :grrr:
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I started collecting and playing video games when I was 12, when anime and the Internet started getting popular. Sailor Moon was my favorite anime at the time, so this led me to playing a translated rom of the Sailor Moon RPG game Another Story. This ended up in me tracking down a SNES, modding it, and very nicely asking my parents to get me the Super Famicom cartridge of it on eBay, never mind that it was in Japanese... LOL Ten years later, I now have all of the Sailor Moon SFC carts (as well as many, MANY other SFC games) and with a SFC system coming in the mail by next week, so that's a childhood dream fulfilled!

Hello classic gamers, my name is Bill and I'm a 29 year old classic gamer fan who has been looking for a good community to join to discuss retro video games with other fans, I guess I found it!
Well, I guess I will start out by telling you all a little about me and my love for classic video games, this is my favorite part. Like with many here, I started out with the Atari VCS/2600 in the early 80's and had a ton of great games but I was really young and didn't really appreciate them until I bought another 2600 at a flea market in 1994 where I really sank my teeth into the system and it's vast library if titles. I recieved my first NES in 1989 and it was most certainly the NES that made me fall in love with the medium and want to devote hour after hour to playing my favorite video games, to this day the NES remains my favorite system of all-time and it will probably NEVER be replaced at the top of The Captain's mountain.
I eventually ended up with a Super NES in 1993 and fell in love with it much like I did with the NES, but for some reason the SNES does not give me that emotional feeling I get when I play my NES, it's still a great console though and I still love it to this day. One of my most fond memories came in 1996 when me and a friend built a "game room" at my house and we had the dream of owning every console on the market at that time, and we can damn close, this was also the time when I fell in love with my 2nd favorite system of all-time, the 3DO. Yes, you read that correctly, the 3DO. There was just something special to me about it back then and still to this day I pop a game in and play the 3DO every now and again.
I also became a fan of the Genesis, Jaguar and Playstation around this time, all of which have had games that I will always have fond memories of playing, including the Jaguar, which a lot of people ended up hating but it holds a special place in my heart.
Well, that was a brief history of me and classic gaming, I still fire up all my systems throughout the course of the year but my NES is the system that get's the most play, mainly because I have the most games for the NES compared to every other system I own. As far as current consoles go, I own a XboX360 and a few games for it, hopefully someday I can feel the love for it that I feel for my classics, but today's games don't give me that sense of wonder and excitement that the vintage games give me.
See you on the boards!

Another retro gaming tragic here from Australia! I love my 70's and 80's arcade games. To the extent of building a cocktail cab running MAME (http://dannygalaga.com/mame.htm)
Then when i moved and couldnt take it with me i got into consoles. N64 was the first console i ever bought, two years ago! Now i have a few more, latest is an Atari Jaguar. Had fun making a rotary controller (http://dannygalaga.com/atari.html) for tempest 2000 with it (",)
Favourite game at the moment i guess is Tempest 2000, what with the rotary controller! In general i think i dig the N64 games more than any other (cartridge) system. Just started out on Conkers Bad Fur Day, which is a great laugh! All time fav on my favourite system is Goldeneye. But Being really old school, my absolute favourite games (can't name one) would be the classic arcade games. Galaxians probably tops the list (yeah i know, why danny galaga then? its because danny galaxians didnt have the right 'feel'!)
So i mainly collect for N64, Megadrive, SMS. I pretty much have everything that interests me for the Jaguar (six games). A bit of Atari Lynx too. I also have a neo geo pocket which is a beautiful machine, but not really collecting anything else for it.
Mainly i dig cartridge based systems then. And of course arcade machines. Will have to get something nice once i have the room...

Hi, I'm Buzz, and I just joined here even though I've been visiting this site for a year or 2. I used to have a very populor Mario emulation website from 1999 - 2001, but since then moved on to other things. My first system was an Atari 5200, then later got a NES for Christmas. I've done some video game reviews on Youtube as part of Ghetto Gamers, and plan to go out on my own with reviews. I currently have over 45 game systems, and over 1000 games. I'm hoping to get along with some of you, if not all of you. :) Game on!

Greetings!
Loooooooooong time lurker here, finally saying hello!
I've been reading the forums (and the rest of the site) for years now yet I've never took the plunge as to participate in this great community.
Until now, that is.
I'm a 27 year old videogame packrat from the Netherlands.
Recently I went back to the university to once again pick up my studies (being Dutch language and culture) after years of doing unschooled and underpaid manual labour.
When it comes to gaming I tend to collect a heck of a lot more than I play.
I'm in the process of collecting all PAL dreamcast games but tend to pick up just about anything if the price is low enough.
That explains why I must be approaching about a thousand games now.
The great thing about these forums is that I will probably not be frowned upon for having so many games, most of which I will likely never get to play. :D
Apart from the dreamcast, I'm really font of handheld gaming.
Especially on the original gameboy (which is where it all began for me) and it's later iterations.
Yet for some reason the xbox live arcade games take up much of my playing time. Which is weird considering how much I love the physical part of this collecting hobby.
My love for games is almost as big as my love for music.
So alongside my studies and gaming I spent most of my time on the band I'm in (a progressive melodic death metal band) and going to gigs.
That's about it, my apologies for the long post (which is long).

I'm Jessica, 25, currently living in California originally from Wisconsin. I was referred to the forums by someone on the Gamefaqs forums, and this looks like a fun place that I might fit into :)
I'm currently collecting for Playstation, Gameboy (as well as GBC and GBA), Dreamcast, and SNES. I am specifically looking to pick up empty PS1 long boxes.

Welcome Jessica! Those are all excellent gaming systems that you collect for. It seems that the PS1 long boxes are somewhat rare these days, good luck in finding what you need. The only long boxes I have I plan on keeping, and they are not empty boxes. Eventually you'll have access to the For Sale/Wanted section after I think 10 posts and some time, then maybe someone can help you there.

Hi, I'm a collector like most of you out there. I also play some of the current gen games (just got through MGS4). Which remids me, I'm a long time fan of Metroid, Metal Gear, Mario, Pokemon R/Y/B (and only those verisons), and older FPS games.
Also, I started gaming on the NES (almost everybody did, or the 2600). The first game I ever played was Karate Champs (I was the white robed guy). From then I went onto SNES and N64. My first game console was a black N64 with SM64 and Bomberman Hero (I still have them ever sine I got them in Christmas of 1998).
I started collecting in 2005. When I traded my PSONE for a second model Sega Genesis. Ever since then, My collection has cost me thousands of dollars and thousands of inches in space.
My signature explains it all.

My user name is my initials made into a band name.
I'm pretty new on the collecting scene. I just started 6 months ago on my Sega Genesis collection.
When I got really involved in collecting. A friend of mine(who has been collecting over 10 years) told me about this "Bible" known as the digital press collectors guide. Sure enough I bought a copy of the advance edition and that brought me to your forum. :D
Thanks DP now I have something to keep track of my collection.
Cześć wszystkim. (pol.)
Hi everyone.
I'm Dred. I come from little post-communist country called Poland (between Germany and Russia). Maybe anyone heard about it. Now I am a high school student.
Also, I'm interested in music (especially: rock and metal; favourite band -> Wishbone Ash) and oldschool audio technologies (vinyls, etc.). And of course retrogaming! ^_^ Favourite console: Soper Nintendo. Best games ever made: Final Fantasy VI & Sensible Soccer.
Sorry about my broken english.

Hey folks. My name is Christoph. I'm 29 years old and live in Kennesaw, GA, a quiet suburb of Atlanta. I'm a tech support manager by day. Well, night. I'm pretty much nocturnal.
I don't have much of a "collection" as such, but my favorite system of all time is the SNES. I started playing on the Intellivision as a toddler, moved up to the NES, and I've been a Nintendo kid ever since, though lately, I play more on the 360 than anything else. My tag is The Stoph, look me up sometime!
I go through phases of wanting to collect, but "real life" always seems to get in the way before I can get it going. My house has a nice, big, finished basement. It's perfect to line the walls with ancient gaming relics... Right now my goal is to obtain a good condition Super Famicom, just for aesthetic value. I just got a top loading NES for myself for Xmas. Man, that thing is tiny...

Hey Everybody. My name is Steve I am 29 years old. I am from Monroe, Washington USA. I have been collecting and gaming for about 25 years now. I work doing packaging, and shipping for a large stuffed animal company. I got started gaming when I was 4. Neighbor had a 2600 I got to play with lots of games, and that was my first console gaming experience. When I was 6 I got my first console, I chose to go with a Master System over the NES because no one else had it and I liked it better. From that point on I have been a big fan of the alex kidd games (you can probably tell by my user name :)) among other favorites. Right now I collect for Sega SG-1000, Sega Genesis, Intellivision, and N64.
I found the site through members over at gamegavel. They have pointed me this way numerous times, so I figured I had better join. :) I have the same user name at game gavel, screw attack, Sega-16, and CAG if any of you are members there.
Favorite Games Right Now: Mega Turrican, Shining Force II, Musha, Grind Stormer, Star Control. All games for the Genesis my favorite old school system I still play today.
I have been meaning to post here for quite a while now. Love the site, and the amount of forum activity. Hope to meet some of you in the future. Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hello everyone, I'm Marcus. I've been living in California my entire 19 years of existence and am pretty happy here. I've been gaming for about as long as is humanly possible (probably like the most of you!) and despite my young age I started out with lots of Atari 2600 games, some version of Pong, and an Apple IIe. In real life I'm tremendously boring, play a lot of games, and sometime engage in classes. Maybe.
I've had this site in my bookmarks for years and would usually just use it for the online rarity guide. I think it might have been just today that I realized/was interested in checking out the forums. Well, better late than never, right?
Some of my favorite games... well, a whole lot of them are more modern, but I guess I can't help what I like! Some of my favorite games are: Silent Hill, Killer7, Phantasy Star Online, Bushido Blade, Space Station Silicon Valley, Shenmue, Diablo II, Dig Dug, Joust. Nothing all too unexpected there!
Basically I'll happily get any games I think are awesome for whatever console they are (that I own, preferably). My largest amount of games on any console is PS2, but I wouldn't say I'm specifically collecting for it. I'd really love to have more N64 games so I'll say that's what I'm going for. Mostly I'm looking to expand my console collection because, as it stands, I basically only own the "popular" consoles from NES generation forward.
I can't think of a time that I specifically thought that I was collecting games. I only know that I've always loved them and generally had more than my friends did. Perhaps it was a time in high school when my friend bought herself a shelf for all her games and was proud of this and all I could think was how TINY it was. Maybe then I realized I was engaging in buying video games more than the average person. But now that I'm certain of my constant desire for more, I'm looking to make friends with other collectors out there!
My collection isn't the best by far, but it's all about the fun and memories we have about our respective games, right?

Hi, I'm Scott, I just joined yesterday. I've stumbled across this site various times in the past while looking for random classic gaming information. I never noticed the forums, however, until somebody mentioned them on GameFAQs. The older system boards on GameFAQs have gotten really slow lately, so here I am! From what I hear, the crowd here is better, more mature, so that should be good.
I'm 24 and I've been married for over 4 years to my High School sweetheart! We recently had our first baby, she's a month old! I lived in NC most of my life, but a few months after graduating college last year, we moved to FL and I got a full-time job as a computer programmer.
I've been gaming since I was 3. I started hardcore on the NES and was somehow able to beat games at that age that are still hard to this day. I moved on to the SNES shortly after it came out and that was definitely the "Golden Years" for me, as many call it. I also got a Game Boy somewhere in there, and upgraded to a Game Boy Color when it came out. I got a N64 when it came out, and was blown away at the time and wore out games like Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, and Super Mario 64. But, that system didn't age well with me, it's definitely all been downhill since SNES. I couldn't afford a GBA or GC when they came out, and then shortly after their release was when I went on somewhat of a gaming hiatus. I was extremely busy my last 2 years of High School with AP classes, sports, working, and most importantly, my girlfriend, that I just didn't have time for games. I played some games here and there at friends houses or whatever, but it was very RARE. Then I started college and was taking full-time classes and working full-time, so I still didn't have time. It wasn't until my Junior year that I finally started fitting games back into my life (I still had all of my older games, just hadn't been playing them). By then, I had missed out on practically the entire 6th generation, and the 7th generation was already underway. So, ever since then I've been working on catching up on all that I missed (while ALSO trying to catch up on classic games that I still want to play or re-play). I got a GBA SP (backlit) and started catching up on GBA games, and about a year later got a DS Lite and started getting DS games. Got a GC mainly for Mario Kart DD. I also got a 360 and a Wii. There's very little on the 360 that I care to play, mainly Halo. The Wii has a few titles I like. So now, I basically have a monsterous list of games to play and very little time to do so as I work full-time, am married, and have a child, so I just play a little here and there when I have free time. But I'm ok with that, I love my family, and I've got the rest of my life to play all these games, because there are less and less games coming out that I even care to play so not much new is really being added to my list.
Favorites Games (in somewhat order, but not exact)
Legend of Zelda series
Final Fantasy VI, IV, X, Adventure, Legend, Legend II, VIII
Secret of Mana
Donkey Kong Country 2, then 1, then 3
Blaster Master
Super Mario Bros. 3, then 1, then World
Mario Kart DD/64/Wii
Chrono Trigger
Pokemon R/B/Y and G/S/C
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
Castlevania series
Contra series
Super Mario 64
Goldeneye 007
Banjo Kazooie/Tooie
Halo series
That's about it I guess, mainly Platformers and RPGs. I like tons more games than this, just trying to list my absolute favorites.
I collect mainly for NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, and DS. I don't care to have a large quantity of games, I just try to get all of the good quality games, at least, IMO. I've got a lot and I'm slowly closing in on having all of the games that I care to have for these systems. I do collect for N64, GC, Wii, Genesis, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 as well, but the number of games I care to have for those systems is very low.
Also, on the note of collecting, I used to care about having all of my games "complete", but I finally gave up on that recently. I just got tired of spending more on games just to have the box and manual sit in storage, never to be used. Now, for newer games that come with dedicated cases to hold the game, I definitely get it complete. But older games that just came in cardboard boxes, like NES, SNES, etc, I just get cart-only. I've been slowly working on selling all of my excess boxes and manuals, just don't care to have them anymore.
Other than gaming, I like to run and lift weights, I'm interested in technology/computers/electronics and like learning anything new in those areas. I like good movies and good music. I enjoy board games and anything competitive. But most all, I love my wife and daughter and love spending time with them.
Wow, that ended up being really long. If you read all of that, thank you! If you care to comment on anything, feel free to send me a PM!

Hey! My name is Mike. I'm 22 years old and work at a local videogame store in Statesboro called Gamesboro. I've been playing games for forever. My dad had a 5200 and when I turned 3, I got my NES. It's been chaos ever since. In the past couple of years I really began collecting videogames. I have a pretty small collection of around 400 or so titles, but it's growing everyday.
I mainly play shmups, fighters and adventure games. Some of my favorite titles include: Super Metroid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Gradius III, Mushihimesama, Espgaluda, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max: Hit the Road and Diablo II.

What up everyone, Yoshi here! Just joined the site after browsing through some retro gaming sites. I just recently decided to start a serious game collection. I have been seriously collecting for only a couple weeks, but I am already hooked. I also plan on completing/finishing/beating every game in my collection, so I should have plenty to do with my free time.
My favorite game of all time is, without a doubt...Resident Evil 2. I'm into basically every genre of gaming. Some of my other favorite games include Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XII, Galaga, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil Remake, NCAA Football series, Socom 2, Call of Duty 4, the original Mega Man, Toki, basically the entire Mario series, Ocarina of Time, and many others. I am collecting games for all systems that I currently own: NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, Gameboy (Color), and the Gameboy Advanced. I plan on picking up a few more systems and collecting for them as well, particularly the Virtual Boy, Neo Geo, 2600, and Sega Saturn.
Peace for now, Stay High!

Hi.
The name's Chris. I found this site totally by chance one day, when I wasn't even looking for anything video game related. It just so happened that I enjoy video games, however, so I guess it all worked out for the best.
I'm a collector for the NES, SNES, Genesis, GBC, and GBA. I'm looking into getting a DS next year, once Golden Sun 3 and Dragon Quest IX (hopefully) hit the streets.

Hi! My name is Rob and I'm from Spain. I'm 25 years old, yes I'm an old men :( and I'm collecting videogames since few years ago.
My collection is from NES gen to XBOX360 gen but I'm in love with 16 bits PAL systems (SNES, MD and TG) but if some NTSC games are exclusive from this region and I like it I collect them too.

I'm Matt. I'm 25 years of age. I live in Texas. I moved here in October after living my entire life in Minnesota.
I work at a Testing Center and I am currently considering going back to school to get my masters degree in education.
I've been to this website several times and thought I might give the forums here a shot.
My current favorite games:
Super Castlevania IV
Metroid
Golden Axe
Parasol Stars
Actraiser
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Blazing Lazers
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Splatterhouse 2
Air Buster
Collecting for me is almost a sidenote to me. I really like playing games, first and foremost. I only purchase games if I get a good deal on them, or I actually want to play them. I have played every game I own. . . maybe not extensively, but played nonetheless.
Collecting is nostalgic for me, as I'm sure it is for most people here. I get games that I remember playing and liking, or games I wish I could have owned while a child. As a kid I rarely got new games, so there is plenty I never experienced.
I currently collect mostly for 16 bit systems. I love the Sega Genesis. Probably my favorite system of all time. I also love the Sega CD. Sega's system has so many arcade style games. I love it. I recently got a JVC X'Eye and Sega Nomad to add to my growing 16 bit Sega collection.
I am also looking to expand my Super Nintendo collection.
This last summer I finally got my hands on a Turbo Grafx 16, I've wanted on since I first saw one as a kid (I also obtained a PC Engine), which is a supremely underrated system. I have picked up about 30 games for it so far. My favorite being Parasol Stars.
I should stress though, that I love, and will always love my NES.
I also like refurbishing and minorly modding systems. I enjoy changing out LEDs (I never use blue. . . I don't like them. Amber is the coolest!) and Painting really thrashed systems I find at thrift stores or garage sales. It's funny seeing how much crud collects in them over the years.

So first off I mostly made this account so that I could post on the NXE Thread: www.digitpress.com/nxe_is_a_pain_how_do_I_remove_it? (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1663223#post1663223) (don't copy and paste that it will get you nowhere, oh and my post is 31) I am excited to have stumbled across this resource and plan on coming back.
My all time favourite games are:
The Legend of Zelda (all of them, my all time favourite is Ocarina of Time)
Gran Turismo 2 (as I listen to the Garage Song titled "Soul of the Garage")
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Black (Needs Multiplayer)
Need for Speed: Highstakes
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
Syphon Filter
Splinter Cell (all of them)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
Halo (all of them except for Wars, and now I am really really really bored of 3)
You know what? There are too many to list.

I found this site while looking up information on various game rarities, and found a few thinks that interested me, so here I am!
I've been a gaming enthusiast since '91, started importing SFC/FC games and equiptment, and now I'm trying to start up a games/systems rental business with a few friends.
Now on to discussing stuff! :3

Hello! My name is Neil. I live on Vancouver Island, am 24 and have been gaming for as long as I can remember. I'm primarily interested in collecting NES and SNES, but I've recently become very interested in the TG16 and PCE. The last console I picked up was a PCE Core Grafx with Ninja Gaiden, Parasol Stars, Valkyrie No Densetsu, New Zealand Story, and Space Harrier.

Hello!
My name is Tyrone and I'm from California. I've known about DP for a very long time--from when back it was a paper fanzine sent via mail.
My favorite games are probably on the PC Engine/TG16 and/or Sega Genesis. But if I have to list a few: Lords of Thunder, Phantasy II, Tetris, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Dracula X, Kaze Kiri, Ys I&II
I make games.

Hi everyone!
Golden here. Born in 1978, I grew up with the 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision (including the Adam) and Apple 2 in my home. I was the only kid I knew who preferred Sega over Nintendo back in elementary and high school. I'm still a Sega fanboy at heart, but have a love of all retro gaming.
I currently own a Sega Genesis w/ Power Base Converter, Sega CDX (my pride and joy), Sega Game Gear, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast and TG-16. I have all the current gen consoles to, but those are just toys to me, as I'd much rather play games on any of the other systems I listed.
I have plans to expand my collection to include an NES and SNES, but that'll have to wait a year or so. I'm a Canadian (from Toronto), but am currently living in Hong Kong. I'll be moving back home in 2011, so that's when the collection will be growing again :)
I am very much in to console emulation as well. My Dingoo A320 and AtGames Gopher are my favourite toys for commutes to and from work. I fully believe in supporting the retro scene and donate to those who spend countless hours contributing to the scene.
When I'm not gaming, you'll usually find me doing something music related. Wether it's playing guitar or just chilling to some great tunes (if you haven't already, go out and buy Mother Mother's "O My Heart").
That's all for now. Hello again and I look forward to being part of some great retro discussions!
