Hello everyone!
My name´s Lars and I´m from Sweden in Europe and I have just started to build a Jamma test rig. Since my experience with arcade projects and electronics in general isn´t so good, I thougt why not join a game forum so I can get help when ever I run into problems or just isn´t sure about something. Anyway when i play games (if I´m home and not in any arcadehall) it´s mostly console type RPG´s (especially the Final Fantasy and the Shenmue-series), but i also like games like Crash Bandicot and Sonic the hedgehog.
Well where I live there are not alot of places were you actually can play old arcadegames so when I began to search for info about the test rig I found this place. Hopefully, if my test rig will work, I will try to build a adapter so I can play old NeoGeo MVS games like Metal Slug (one of my favourite arcadegames). :D

Best regards, Lars
(Is it called arcadehall? O_O )

Greetings,

I'm Robert from North Carolina. Currently, I'm earning my Master's in library and information science at UNC, Chapel Hill. So, pretty much I'm a student for two days of the week and a stay at home dad for the rest.

I collect for the Intellivision, Sega Master System, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Xbox. I've got a pretty hefty pile of PC games, but I spend so much time in front of a computer for work that I have now gravitated away from them during my leisure time. My collection is pretty small due to limited funds and because there are many titles that I simply don't care about. I suppose I like rpgs, platformers, and anything whimsical or unusual. I don't have any desire to be a completist, but I will pick up a rarity if I find one even if the title is not the sort of thing I would normally enjoy.

I'm pretty new to collecting, and have a great deal to learn. That's why I was pleasantly surprised to find this site after searching for rarity guides relevent to the systems I own. You guys seem to be a cut above the crowd at the usual fansites.

Hiya folks!

I'm Daniel (aka Danny, Dan, Dan-O). I'm from Houston, Texas and 28 years old. I'm currently doing freelance work in the Multimedia and Web Design field.

I've got a humble NES, Dreamcast, PS2, PS1, Saturn, GBA, SNES and PC collection going.

I've also just recently put together a collection of Genesis games I owned as a kid, so I guess you can add that to the list as well!

Good games, good memories! 8-)

hi shroudz here, iv'e been reading the forums for years but rarely post. Iv'e been collecting for several years though. I collect mainly for most systems but only select items. my most obsecure system is probalbly a european sg 1000 sega unit. I have over 50 different systems and many variations.
I reside in Australia so we miss out on a lot of the cool stuff like the turbografx so i import some stuff. I collect mostly pal stuff but have quite a few import games and systems as well..I started collecting mostly through secondhand stores houses markets etc like most people and kinda graduated to collecting through contacts and auctions as a lot of the stuff i began to look after was just plain imposible to find and too time consuming.

Hey all! My name is David and Im from San Diego, Ca. Video Games are my passion, I eat, sleep and crap them (the neo-geo aes ones hurt on the way out the most!) Any ways...I came acrossed this site a few days ago while looking for a video game price guide and it seems great! Im a member Of The Neo-Geo.com forums as dbarrett0928 but i sold off my neo geo aes collection for a hefty penny and now regret it. I collect NES games and systems as well.

In real Life? Well, lets just say I call your house whn you dont pay bills! Thats right, a BILL COLLECTOR...Not to be confused with telemarketing. Im 22 and have a girlfriend and 2 Mini Pinscher Dogs. Next to gaming, I like to go to the desert and hit the sand dunes on my dirt bike...Thanks and hope to speak with many of you soon!

Oh, and my all time favorite game is Tecmo Super Bowl for NES.

Hello, my first post, yet another forum virgin, sigh.

My name is Sean and I live in the wonderful world of Iowa, which is why I collect games because there's not much else to do here.

I've been playing various games on various systems for years (I remember owning an Intellivison, a Colecovision, and an Atari though those memories are kinda fuzzy), but I've only recently begun to start collecting games. This is due in major part to one of my best friends becoming the assistant manager of a recently opened GameCrazy store. Seeing that I could buy a buttload of NES carts for a few bucks a piece I started picking up a few titles and it very quickly became an obsession. So now my goal is to own every single NES game I possible can.

Searching for a complete list of NES games is actually what brought me to this site in the first place, and I find that I just keep coming back, again and again.

So here I am and there you are and it's nice meeting you. Hope to help anybody anyway I can and vice versa.

Should have done this earlier...

I primarily collect games on Sega and NEC systems.
Very interested in homebrew PC Engine development (though I have trouble finding the time). Also interested in developing some things on VCS and Jaguar.

Other interests: Hobby OS and artificial intelligence development, Linux, Anime, older electronics (Analog, RF, older computers, etc), Warhammer 40K.

Hi, I'm new to the boards, think I found them a week or so ago linked on cheapassgamer.com.

I've been gaming since the 2600 days (I'm 25, my dad had one, him and I played a lot when I was really young), my own personal first system was the 7800, then the NES. I sold my system and entire collection of the former to buy a game for the latter (Astyanax if I remember correctly) and I've regretted it ever since.

Most of my collection is on the current gen systems, mostly because cheap games are overly abundant, but I've been filling out my PS1 collection lately as well. Long term dreams are to get a Turbo Duo and Neo Geo AES, but that's not likely for awhile. Unfortunately my day job as a full time PhD student keeps me from playing as much as I'd like.

Anyway, these look like great forums, and I may post my "Room of Doom" in the near future, though it'll look downright pathetic compared to most others I've seen!

Hey there. I figure I've been lurking on these boards long enough. It's time for an introduction. I live in Portland, OR. I stumbled across the sight while trying to find out how rare the Sega CD's "Popful Mail" was.

My introduction to video gaming was the Sega Master System which I tried, desperatley, to stay loyal to despite the fact that everyone in the known universe had an NES. I probably would have given in if not for my love of "Choplifter".

Most of my collecting falls in with the Master System, Genesis, and Sega CD, although I'm getting pretty close to finally picking up an NES deck.

My top five favorites (in no particular order)

Lunar: the Silver Star (sega CD)
Strider (genesis)
Super Mario Bros 3 (NES)
Ghouls N' Ghosts (Genesis)
Jet Set Radio (Dreamcast)

Micky Wright here, from westport CT. I stumbled upon this website when I had wanted to get an atari 2600, and I had seen the DP Collector's guide over at atari age a couple years ago.

At the moment, I am finshing up high school, and trying to aquire complete DC and NGPC collection. I also hope to get a complete sealed 32X collection one day, although I'm going to have to do some searching for a factory sealed Spiderman. I can't really give favorite games as that is too broad for me to make a decision on. Typically I dislike most sports games, though I have more of an appreciation for older ones. And I also have a knack for liking unique games that don't fit the typical game formulae that the industry has fallen into.

Yet another classic gamer from the DC area. I've been buying the Digital Press price guides for 5 or 6 years now, and I've visited the site from time to time. But I just recently decided to join the forums. I used to post on rec.games.video.classics back in the day, but left when it became more bickering than gaming discussion.

My gaming interests pretty much cover all kinds of systems throughout the years, consoles as well as handhelds and computers. I've got two arcade cabinets, one Ms. Pacman and the other a generic JAMMA system, with about 20 arcade boards. I've been collecting since the mid 90's, and I've probably got about a thousand games by now. Lately I've concentrated more on import Japanese gaming, but my interests tend to sway between different eras. My favorite kinds of games are shmups and RPGs.

I usually go to thrift stores and flea markets weekly, where I find most of my stuff. I also buy off of ebay and yahoo auctions Japan.

These are my consoles:
RCA Studio II, Vectrex, Emerson Arcadia 2001, Hanimex Pong clone, Magnavox Odyssey 1, Magnavox Odyssey 3000, Magnavox Odyssey 2, Fairchild Channel F, Atari Pong, Atari 2600 (several models), Atari 5200
Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Nintendo Famicom (several clones, too), Famicom Disk Drive, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Virtual Boy, Intellivision (1 and 2, plus an Intellivoice), Colecovision, Sega Master System (1 and 2), Sega Genesis (1 2 and 3), Sega 32x, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Neo Geo MVS (Techincally arcade, but I've got a supergun), Neo Geo CD, 3DO, FM Car Marty ("Car" version of FM Towns game system/computer), NEC Turbografx 16, NEC Turbo Duo, NEC PC-FX, Sony Playstation, Sony Playstation 2, Nuon (Samsung N2000)

Handhelds....

Bandai Wonderswan Color and Swancrystal, Sega Game Gear, Sega Nomad, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Gameboy (original, color,GBA, and GBA SP), Atari Lynx, Tiger Game.com, Turbo Express, GP-32

"Classic" gaming computers...

Atari 400, Atari ST 1040Stf, Commodore PET 2016, Commodore VIC-20, Commodore 64, Commodore 128, Commodore Plus/4, Amiga 500, MSX (Sony FS-A1), Matell Aquarius, Apple II (II+, IIe, IIc, IIgs), TI-99/4a, TRS-80, Tandy Color Computer, Sharp X68000, NEC PC-8801 FE

How I found the forums: I found Digital Press via the Classic Gaming Syndicate
Webring & have been viewing the Forums from afar
for the last few months. I had been a member of
the GameTZ community for roughly 1/2 a year, but
was turned off by some events & user behavior.

My favorite Games: Too many to mention, but if I were to skim, I'd say
Galaga, Dragon Warrior(Quest) series, Shining series,
Final Fantasy series, Lunar series, Resident Evil series,
Silent Hill Series, Splatterhouse Series, Shenmue series,
Ikaruga & Border Down.

Systems I collect for: Atari 2600 (just system - no games yet)
Intellivision (5 complete games - no system yet)
NES
SNES
Genesis/Sega CD
GameGear (just system - no games yet)
TurboGrafx/PC engine
Saturn
PSX
N64
Dreamcast

Occupation: Information Technology servant for an insurance company

Interesting (or not) facts: I've only been into gaming for a little over 3 years
now, so I have much catching up to do with the
rest of the Digital Press community collecting wise.
Since my job & band occupy most of my time,
gaming/collecting comes in at a very close third
(but it is still a very dear love to me). What drew
me to Digital Press is the lack of users whose
primary form of communication is OMFG, RO><OR
or PWN, which really turned me off from other
communities. Seeing how knowledgeable, polite
and generally courteous the users are here is what
ultimately led me to joining this community & I'm
truly looking forward to interacting with all of you.

Well, enough of my jibbajabba. Carry on...

Wow, I looked WAY too long for an intro thread/section. Anyway...I'm new.

My name is Erik, I'm 21, and I live in Minnesota. I'm fairly new to game collecting, but it's my interest in that which has drawn me to the boards. I currently have 8 consoles and about 100 games over all of them, but am always looking for more of both. I've also begun collecting the 20 games on Seanbaby/EGM's Crapstravaganza list (3 down, 17 to go). I couldn't ever decide on a favorite game ever, but Super Metroid and Castlevania: SotN are definitely up there. I'm currently unemployed, but I recently left my job at GameStop.

I think that covers the stuff mentioned in the first post...if anyone else wants to ask me something or get to know me further, send me an IM or PM. :)

Untamed

I'm Tony. Various screen names on varoius sites. Mainly Untamed.

18 years of age. (Moved out, thank god.)

I live in Vancouver BC, Canada.

I found the forums a while ago while browsing a Sega Saturm forum. I lurked, then registerd, then made my first post today.

My favorite games... That's a tough question. VERY.

Most fighting games, except Tekken and Virtua Fighter.
Most RPGs, mainly pre new-gen systems. Dreamcast and before.

Currently playing (again, in most cases):
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Chrono Cross
Final Fantasy IV
Star Ocean: The Second Story

I collect for any system I can get my hands on.
MY systems are, so far:
Famicom
NES
SNES
Genesis
SegaCD
Saturn
PSX (Stolen from me)
N64 (Stolen from me)
Deamcast (Stolen from me)

I have to replace a few systems after the house was robbed. :(

Game list is: http://users.ign.com/collection/lowbay

"Real Life" is irrelevent. Regardless, I need one eventually.

Interesting facts about me?
Can't have interesting facts about someone who is uninteresting. Unless you try VERY hard, but you might pop a vein.

Hey everyone, im from Ontario, Canada, and im 17 years old and have been playing video games ever since my brother and I got a Sega Master System for Christmas. I am not a hardcore collector YET since im young, but I do have a handful of newer PS2 games since thats what I mostly play, and one day I will build up my collection with older games. I found this site a few years ago while looking for video game lists so I can find every game released.

My favorite games are ALL of them except for RPG's, I just cant stand them. Some games that stand out from the rest are Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Rock N Roll Racing, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, Sonic.

Systems that I own:

Dreamcast (Paid $20 CAN from a friend)
Game Boy Pocket (I borrowed this from some kid and never returned it)
Game Gear (Bothered my parents for it back in the day)
PS2 (Got it on my b-day, and I have the Limited Edition GT3 Racing Pack)
SNES (Got it for Christmas when it came out)

And the Sega Master System hasnt worked for a bunch of years, although I still do have a few great games.

And get used to seeing me here, cause im gonna be on the forums regularly now.

Well i've been bouncing around the boards for a while ... guess it's about time to introduce myself.

- Who you are
My name us Dustin and I am a gamer/collector, yup imagine that.

- Where you live
I currently reside in the great state of tennessee. In my hometown there is a gas station, a grocery store, a post office, and a welcome center. If there are any other gamers in the TN, KY area give me a holler.

- How you found the forums
I was searching on the net for lists of games for systems after I read an article in EFM about places to look for cheap games and i noticed this site in the mag. I checked it out and I liked what I saw

- What your favorite games are
As of right now If I where going arcade it would Be Ms. Pac-man, Double Dragon, and Mat-Mania. Console I have to say Contra, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Brigandine and Suikoden.

- What systems you collect for
I collect for every system. I used to think I had a decent sized collection until I got here. Then I felt like crying for mommy. :)

- What you do in "real life"
At this time I am attending college for a degree in game design. I've always wanted to design games. Anybody that can offer any advice on the subject let me know.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I've always been a big gamer. I got into collecting because I wanted to play games. I figured it would make me a better designer to play as many games as I can and learn from them. It also gives me a good excuse to pawn all my game purchases off as research whenever I catch flack over it.

HI.

My Name is Matt Du De Voire. I live in new holstein, WI about 20 miles away from Sheboygan. used to live in random lake, then moved to germantown.

I Heard about this site probably from Tips n tricks.... to tell the truth I cant remember anymore. :/

I Have many consoles in my collection, but I enjoy collecting NES and SNES.
I truthfully like genesis, but thoughts of nintendo dance in my dreams as of late.

I loved genesis in my grade school days. :-P So much that I put a "Sega Power"
patch on my soccer uniform. But the clincher on this is I didnt own a sega until a few years later! What i used to do was rent a Genesis system at the local video store called "video city". it came with 1 game and costed
SIX DOLLARS! And I could only rent it for a day!

I have many favorite games like the sonic genesis games and mega man NES games and the Zelda games, but It all depends.

Here's to Many happy gaming conversations! 8-)

Also If anybody can tell me how to help out for the Midwest gaming expo, I'd appreciate it. I would probably like to help out with things like promoting or something.

Anders Carlsson here. I was born in 1975 and live since then in Västerås, Sweden (a 120,000 city about 100 km west of Stockholm, if that makes more sense to you).

I knew of Digital Press since many years ago, but never thought it had a forum. Also, I am already on so many forums that I shouldn't really join one more.. anyway, I found this forum through browsing Big Boards listing of the really big forums around the world. So much for not looking for more forums to join.

Favourite games.. thankfully I posted that on another forum a while ago, so I can recapitulate some of it: M.U.L.E., Premier Manager 1, Speedball II, Lotus III, Great Giana Sisters, Metagalalctic Llamas, Jelly Monsters, Tetris, Nethack, Freecell (Windows card game). From that and my posts so far you can make out I'm coming from the VIC-20/C64/Amiga direction.

I don't really collect, more use and try to develop new stuff, mainly on the VIC-20. If I had the money, space and connections I may collect more. Over here gaming stuff is rarely seen on flea markets, second hand shops, auctions etc. Maybe something on the Internet auction market, but so far I'm a newbie on buying things on the net and particulary shipping. Thus I don't even have an eBay account (but get the hoax warnings through email about my account all the time).

In real life, I am a web developer. Not web designer, I'm not good with images, colours, user interfaces and stuff. I work with a small travel community which strives to get bigger over time.

On my spare time, I play the alto saxophone in a symphonic wind orchestra in my town (we've become Swedish champions thrice on four attempts!). I also maintain our website of course.

Meh another into topic. Just wandered into the forums for the first time actually.

Who am I: Full name is Jake Baldwin. 19 years old, live in England.
Finished school, not bothered with the whole college thing yet, may do someday, but for now I'm just earning some cash to feed my purchasing.

Interests: In terms of gaming, my main intersts are Sega-related gaming, RPG's and anime-related gaming. The kinda guy who'd buy all those anime games on the Saturn that are probably not actually any good.
I also have a slight interest in backup units and modchips, but I just like to tinker with them, fun stuff.

I'm sure you can gather from the above that I am also into anime. I suppose I'm really into all Japan-orientated gaming, from Sony to NEC... just sway to Sega. Huge Saturn fan, bit of a SegaCD and 32X lover too.

Myself: Myself on a personal level... very quiet person, but not shy. I say something when I feel something has to be said. I am male, but I get mistaken for a female all the time at work, mainly because of my long-ish black hair and pale skin (yeah, sound like a typical goth don't I - unintended).

Game Collecting Habbits: I kinda said all this above really, but nevertheless... Sega stuff, RPG stuff, anime stuff... most Japanese-gaming stuff in fact. Generally not wester games, but there are exceptions.

Generally, I tend to buy Saturn or SegaCD/32X games. Affordable, easy to collect. Will likely expand to PCE at some point.

I've bored you all enough.

Yep another Newb to the forums.

First off I'm 20 years old and I live in northern California wich provided easy access to cge2k4 where i first heard of digital press from my freind who bought the collectors guide. only a few weeks ago did i really look and behold its awesomeness.

as for how i started collecting it wasn't so much a concious decision as much as it is that i have a problem getting rid of things even if i don't use them.

man i sound boring. oh well. collecting is hard at the moment as i'm low on the cash side (thank you college)

the systems i actually own are:
GBA
Gamecube
playstation
playstation 2
Xbox
Dreamcast
Genesis
Sega cd
Neo Geo pocket color
NES
SNES

Hey all. I trust you are well! My name is Paul and I hail from Edinburgh in the UK. I've been lurking on these boards for a few weeks and it seems like you have all got a great community going on here so I feel it's about time to register. Can't remeber how I arrived here, probably through a google search for collecting video games or a link somewhere.

I've been gaming for 20+ years but I've really only just started collecting 'properly' as before I would buy a lot for my current gen systems but not a lot of retro stuff. I now mainly collect for Dreamcast (Jap imports being a favourite) and Megadrive, although I will pick up most things of interest regardless of the system, beat 'em ups and scrolling shooters being my favourites. Hey, I even just purchased my first display cabinet, a 7 foot high Ikea monster!

In my real life i'm a 28 year old, just married to my wife Fiona, study a programming course at college and work in a cheesemongers (I love eating!) I DJ a bit, produce a bit of music on cubase etc and make probably too many Gundam models. I also enjoy going out clubing and having some mad times with my friends....

Oh, and I can't believe out of 5000+ registered users on a video game forum, no one had taken the name special move! Good news for me as I use it everwhere I can. :)

Take care, Paul.

My friend Josh Nickerson introduced me to the website and suggested that I should join the forum as well. I'm looking foreward to hanging out and posting.

Hi there! I'm Mark from retrogaming website www.redkeyreddoor.com : I hail from the UK, so my gaming experience started with the cuddly little ZX Spectrum, and then it's a twenty-year haze of games from NES, Amiga, PC, SNES, Game Boy, Megadrive, N64, PlayStation, PS2, Xbox and more. Tough to pick a favourite game, but I must have lost more of my life to Rainbow Islands than any other game - the high-score that I racked up on the Amiga version was so ridiculously large (for the time!), the magazine I sent it to assumed I'd made it up. Damn them!

Im Nathan I'm 19 and from the UK

First Console I owned was the Sega Megadrive which I got in 1993,
It was at a furinature store called homeworld, when I came across Sonic 1 playing on the display model and soon enough thats where It started.

Also I would go down my reletives and play on the Snes and SMS.

I had a PS, N64,

Currently have a gamecube which is a comeplete dissapointment as was the N64 in my eyes

Dreamcast is the only next gen console I've loved and Im fond of.

Currently in the EMU Scene for Imports, J releases,Arcade Memiories and some systems I never had the experience to play or own back in the day.

Mostly the Turbo, Sega CD etc

My name is Adam, and I've been at this for a while now. My interests mostly have to do with 8-bit systems, although I have do have some of the later stuff. I currently have around 10 consoles, ranging from a Super Pong Ten to a Sega Saturn. I also collect obsolete computers, old tube radios, tube amplifiers, rotary phones, and too many other things to list. My favorite video game system is the Atari 7800, which I had to build a replacement power supply for (made my first power connector for it from brass contacts and electrical tape, though my current connector is much more stable).

Hi, Nice to meet you all :)

My handle is DarkVegetto and I am 31 years old and have been collecting video games ever since I first got an Atari 2600 back in the day. I only collect complete systems/games, and I have quite an extensive collection dating back 20 years or more, although I've gotta say some of the "Rooms 'o Doom" I've seen on here are jaw-dropping to say the least :D Great website you guys have, I check it out a lot at work (I'm a software engineer with degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics). Everyone seems really friendly here and I'm so glad I found this place it rocks!!! LOL

Hiya.Good to be here on the forums. Lesse, I'm a native Texan who just recently moved to Florida. My favorite console of all time is the SNES, so my interest is always piqued just a little more when it comes to SNES games. I am open-minded though, and I'm always looking at many different consoles, like Playstation, NES, Genesis, PS2... I've even been considering getting a Nuon.

Anyway, yup.

Hullo. My names Chris. I'm 16 and live in the UK. I;ve been gaming for about 8 years, but didn't really see the point of keeping the boxes of games back then (wish I had though...). I found this place when I was looking for some pictures of a boxed SNES, and was blown away when I found the pictures of collectors rooms... I had no idea people collected games to such an extent! I'm not really a "hardcore" collector, as I don't really have enough money (or storage space in my room, for that matter) to buy loads of games. I've started a little Zelda collection, which might lead into others when I get a stable amount of income. :D

Hello,

Just wanted to say (for those of use who are not ashamed) I have shed loads of games, more than I can play and still I want more. There is always a japanese oddball shooter that misses the popular press' radar.

Being a kid is cool. Being an adult with money and the mind of a kid is cooler. Like an Atari-sponsored version of the Tom Hanks film "big".

1000+ games and counting (well trying to when I get a minute).

Most prized posession...... Ikaruga (dreamcast) because somebody long and hard enough to buy it me from ebay.

Favourite game (so far).... Super Mario 64. It never ages (give it a go).

Most wanted item..... Resident Evil 4 (gamespot video review made my hair stand up)

I'm Paul, I'm 29 and I live in the South West of England. I was directed to this forum partly by my love of all things electronic, my fondness of video games,of both new and retro variety, and most of all from an American friend on another forum, who posts on here.

I sometimes collect games for the PC, but mostly for my PS2. My current favourites are GTA San Andreas and Manhunt. I started collecting about three years ago after playing the first GTA3 game on the PS2 at a friends house. I was impressed by the gameplay, and went out the next day to get myself a PS2.

My first games console was an Atari "Grandstand", endorsed by the permed-haired England football legend, Kevin Keegan. This was about 1982, and I satill have it in mint condition and boxed. I am unfortunately missing the manual. Along the road I have also had a Nintendo Gameboy, Nintendo 8-bit and the SuperNintendo 16-bit consoles and a PS1.

I look forward to joining in lively discussions with you all.

Hi,my name's Matthieu, I'm 20 and I live in Quebec, Canada. My native language is french. I found the place when I was looking for a good rarity guide on the web. I bookmarked it and forgot about it until recently. I grew up with the nes and snes so they are my main focus in collection. I don't have much cash and there is a lack of good fleamarket here so I collect when I can, which is not enough for me, hehe. I currently own a GameCube for my current gen console I also have a Dreamcast. I guess I can be called a Nintendo fanboy, but I Like games which ever platform it's on. My best game ever is Chrono Trigger. Well I think I've said enough. Thanks for reading my first post :)

Well I should probably sign the guestbook here, now, considering I've been stumbling around this party for a little while and missed this book at the front door...
My name is Mike, I was 8 when we got the Atari 2600 the first christmas it came out. I've been a vidiot ever since- I've been collecting more seriously since 92. My main interest is everything NINTENDO- but I also have a love for the little blue hedgehog. Anything videogame interests me.
I found the site when a friend ("videogame collector" on the first page of the original game rooms page) directed me here. I been lurking around ever since.
I reside in the "Great White North" eh. In my mind it is "the mushroom kingdom" where Mario music plays ALL the time.
I am involved in the videogame industry- some of my customers refer to me as their "dealer"..... like videogames are addictive... well they're not illegal!
That is my hobby work- I also have a regular 8-5 job that really puts a damper on my game play time. Damn work!
I have my collection pics posted and my collection on record here- please feel free to PM me with any questions!!
See you around!

I feel a short introduction is in order.

I'm 27, been a gamer since Game & Watch days, moved on to the VIC20, C64, Amiga and at the same time I played a hell of a lot of NES at a friend's house. During those NES days my love for Nintendo was established and it's been a life-long love affair, although with age my fanatism has mellowed out somewhat. Anything japanese and good is on top of my list nowadays.

Hello, gamers. I'm 26, living in Wash state. I own a PS2, multiple NES's, Dreamcast, DS and a 2600. Off the top of my head Id say I own about 80 games. My collection isn't very large but I enjoy it like crazy. This is an awesome site and I'm glad to be here.

02-23-2005, 09:41 PM
Hello there, folks. I'm Endiga.

I'm 19, and I live in Alabama. Actually came across Digitpress either through searching for 'rarity lists' or 'game collections', and I've been stuck on the forums since! Although I adored arcade games as a young lad and wanted an NES more than anything, my gaming days actually began on Christmas 1993 with a Genesis and a copy of Sonic 2.

Since then, I've been both a Sega fanboy and a Sonic fanboy, and I still like to collect the Sonic games to this day, no matter how crappy they might be. I also have a passing admiration for SHMUPs, a fondness for Treasure titles (be it Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, or Guardian Heroes), and a fine love for horror games. Silent Hill remains my favorite horror series of all time, but I also have a fine love for Clock Tower, the original Alone in the Dark, the original Resident Evil, and Siren.

As I've stated, I started out as a Sega fanboy, so I like to pick up games for the Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast (and, eventually, Game Gear). I do pick up PS/PS2 titles every now and then, as there are solid titles on the Sony consoles.

There are other notes, such as how I amassed 60 PC games or so before diving back into console gaming after a long break, or how I do crappy jobs for a living, but I believe that will do for now. Good to meet all of you!

Hi there, my actual name is Kieran. I’m 19 and live in the United Kingdom. I suppose I got into retro gaming over three years ago, but before that I had my brother Megadrive (my first console), but about 2 years ago I became a big fan of Sonic the hedgehog and focused on collecting him instead. I was never that much good at games but I loved to collect them, but I found that Sonic was a game I could master, and for some reason the mere fact it’s a Sonic game I’m playing persuades me to perceiver, whereas in another game I would just quit.

Anyway I’ve always keep my interest in retro gaming, but for me it’s not so much the games that interested me, but the atmosphere: design perceptions, marketing etc, of the individual gaming eras. I come here because I want to give my Sonic obsession a rest (I have over 63 Sonic games) and learn more about the individual systems.

I prefer collecting the gaming systems, it’s excitable owning a new system, at leased I know there’s no way I can fail by having one, like I normally would in a game. I don’t have a large collection of consoles, but I think it’s enough. The majority of the consoles I chose too buy is dictated by what Sonic games are available, that’s why most are SEGA consoles.

Nintendo 64
Gamecube
Gameboy Advance
Gameboy Player
SEGA Saturn
Dreamcast
Gamegear
Neo Geo Pocket Colour
SEGA Multi-Mega

Hello, I guess I'm the newest n00b as of right now.

My name's Bill, I'm 33, married, two kids, and started gaming over 25 years ago when my parents bought my first Atari ( a Heavy Sixer, I have learned).

The systems I currently have hooked up are Gamecube, Xbox, Playstation 2, N64, Dreamcast, and a Jaguar w/CD. I also keep a Virtual Boy accessible. My relatively recent collecting focus has been the Jag and the VB, as it's relatively easy (if not terribly inexpensive) to build complete collections.

For the poster above, I'm also in northern Illinois (Zion).

Here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/ghettocar/setup.jpg) is my current setup:

I'm Tony, currently living in Canada. I am a university student studying computing science. I think I found the forums through Google, but I'm not quite sure anymore.

I buy games for the Dreamcast and the PS2, but I only own a DC. I steal my GF's PS2 to play my PS2 games LOL

I've been playing games ever since I got my 486DX2/66 way back when. I've been primarily a PC gamer until April 2004 when I bought my Japanese Dreamcast to play Shenmue and Virtual On. I had just finished buying all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation on DVD and I thought that the DC would be just a small, one-time investment that I could afford even after such a large purchase.

I was very wrong -- after seeing some DC games going for so little money I started reading reviews, which brought my attention to more and more games, old and new, for all the consoles I've missed out on. I started buying and now it seems that there's always something else I want to get!

Hello, my name is Brian and I'm hobby addict. (all other members): Hi, Brian!

It seems like I've had billions of hobbies in my life but this is the one I keep coming back to that holds my attention.

I live in the isolated city of Wichita -_- in the most laughable state of the union Kansas LOL .

I am currently in the process of collecting all rare NES games (gool\d luck, right.) This particular addiction probably stems from my childhood. I asked my parents to buy me a NES when it first came out. Five frickin years later when SNES was about to debut I got a crappy outdated NES and one crappy game. My video game talents were never nurtured by my parents who claimed I needed to focus on more important things like math and science.

Anyway, hope I can figure out some of the more advanced features here. Thanks to everyone for yor warm welcome, so warm that I have to ask - do you wanna make out?

Hey all, I'm Shep, a 19yr old classic-modern gamer with a love for Atari and Virtual Boy. I live in Lincoln IL., and attend Lincoln Christian College. I found these forums along with Atariage about three-four years ago and have been an avid poster on Atariage, and finally decided to join this one too. Of course it is far too hard to narrow down favorite games but some are, Bubble Bobble, FF II (US), Dig Dug, and Zelda Wind Waker. I don't collect for any console, I buy games to play them. That's it. I don't keep games in their original packaging, I rip 'em open and play them as they were made to be. In "real life" I work at a small town grocery store when I come home from college.

Interesting fact: I get enjoyment out of simple things such as, Lime Jello, POTATOES, and penguins!

Hello,

I am newly registered to these forums, but I am a long time visitor to the site.

I mostly only collect games that are of a specific interest to me, however I am working on my very first complete collection right now; 32X.

I found this site because I do work for another site where we are trying to archive all video games with box shots release dates for all consoles and PC. Members can create a virtual archive of the titles that they own which we have in our data base. It's a hard project, but fun to pass the time with.

I've found the Ditital Press guides to be a great tool as a checklist. The information provide by this website is a great asset.

Thanks Digital Press.

Hi I'm Johnny boy

I am 33 started collecting about 5 year ago (started playing atari). I always sold my older sytem to buy the newer one. Then I sold my super nes and games for $50 to get the 64.Well I sold kirbys avalanche my wifes favorite game the only video game she liked.

So after some "why did you sell the only game I liked"and " will there be a kirbys avalanche 64" I started looking for another copy(in the wild).no luck

Then I checked the net found DP and WOW all the games I had forgot about.aero biz ff mario zelda (I was bit of a nin fanboy) so I started hunting.

Garage sales hooked me , one of the first sat mornings following the "sale" sings I found it paydirt, big time, the one,YESssss....kirby and more, surper nes, aero biz.....five years later every sat morning :D .

I now collect for the xbox mainly(197) trying to guess what will be rare before its rare .I want the whole collection (ntsc).

I could go on but most gamers have a sort of A.D.D. and wont read it anyway LOL .

So good bye for now.

P.S. any xbox fanboys out there let me know

P.S.S. my best find in the wild Spectravideo Bumper Bash for $1 anyone knowwhat it is worth?

I am an early-30s dude who has been into gaming since my parents bought me a Sears VCS in '79 or so. I'm more of a gamer than a pure collector, but I love all good and fun games, retro or new. I was weaned on 2600 Activision games, grew up with Commodore at my side (Ultima IV my fave), and now play GameCube and PS2. Also recently got into the pit that is Saturn Imports ;)

My name is Mark S. Hinds. I'm 46 years old. My birthday is March 24th, the day the PSP goes on sale. I told my wife (Danaleigh) that this was a sign that fate is trying to tell us something. Like, "buy hubby a PSP for his birthday". I don't think she fell for this. I might wind up having to buy my own.

I live in Jacksonville, FL, USA. Being a former Army Brat I have lived in more states that I can count, plus France and Germany. But, J-Town has been my home since 1978.

My first console? A Coleco Telestar I got for Christmas. I then bought an Atari VCS (2600) in 1979. I didn't buy many games for it at the time, as none of them lived up to the box art. I did play NIGHT DRIVER quite alot though.

I then went a few years without playing Video Games. Then came 1987 (or late '86). My brother had bought an NES, and was showing it off. I then made a mad-dash to Toys 'R Us, cash-in-hand, to buy and NES. I came home with an SMS instead. I never regreted it! My SMS was, and still is, much loved and appreciated. About 6 months later I bought an NES, mainly because SMS software was rather limited. I have since been filling the gaps of my SMS collection, plus buying alot of non-U.S. SMS games.

Since then I have only bought 4 platforms while they were the current state-of-the-art. A Genesis. A Dreamcast (on launch day). A GameCube with the Game Boy Player add-on. And a Game Boy Advance SP. Everything else I added after it had died. 3DO. 32X. Atari 7800. Saturn. Jaguar. Commodore 64. SNES. Intellivision. PlayStation.

I came across Digital Press while surfing the web, and have been here ever since. While I have visited dozens of other classic gaming sites, I call Digital Press my (gaming) home. Lots of nice people here.
