Who you are: John Loch, 37 years old

Where you live: Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus

How you found the forums: Before this internet stuff I used to get the Digital Press newsletter. I got out of active collecting of retrogames for awhile, but have recently started again, so I decided to look Digital Press up.

What your favorite games are: Ultima Online, Mario Kart 64, Super Mario kart, Doom, Crazy Climber, Bard's Tale 1, Tempest, Ultima IV, KC Munchkin, Pick Axe Pete, Adventure, Galaxian, Gorf, Omega Race, Nine Princes in Amber, Forbidden Forest, Haunted House, Solar Quest, Cheeky Mouse, Lords of Conquest, The Legend of Zelda, The Empire Strikes Back, Wizard of Wor, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Stampede, Miner 2049er, Sword of Kadash, Satan's Hollow, Military Madness, Faxanadu, Powerslave, Tomb Raider, Tail of the Sun, and so on....

What systems you collect for: I have almost every old system and have given up on finding much more for them thatn I already have. I might seek out some of the missing games I want on Ebay. Right now, I am putting my energy into repairing an old arcade Tempest machine I found for dirt cheap, and buying some classic Coleco mini-arcade handhelds from a co-worker who claims to have them in his attic but keeps putting off digging them up.

What you do in "real life": Chef

Any other interesting facts: When I was a kid, we all wanted Ataris. My misguided parents got me an Odyssey 2, though. I made the best of it, and found some really great games for that system. My friends and I stumbled across the Easter Eggs in Killer Bees about 2 weeks after I got that game. I have a ton of promotional Odyssey stuff, including flyers for many games that have the box cover on one side and details on the back. I also have all 6 issues of Odyssey Adventure Magazine, as well as correspondence sent to me from their offices. On the last page of the last issue of Odyssey Adventure, my tip for the game Invaders from Hyperspace is printed. Imagine my surprise when I found the same tip on the Easter Eggs section this site, with myself credited! Thanks, Digital Press!

Aloha, I am 29, newly married, work for a small consrtruction co.

I got into gaming about 6 mo. ago. I thought it would be a good "@ home"
hobby for my new found domestic life. I bought a PS2. Now I am fully hooked on gaming. I bought a NES a few months later so my wife and I could play the games from our childhood.

I don't consider my self a collector.....yet. I am more interested in pursuing the best gaming has to offer. I do avidly look for good deals on PSone/PS2 and NES classics. I am on the verge of diving into the world of Game Boy.

I really enjoy this site. Many sites are flooded with flaming immature fAnBoY$ panting over Diane Mizota...(not that I blame them) but this site seems like a more "grown up" source of info.

Hey all,

My name's Adam Lamontagne. I usually just lurk on these boards, with an occasional post here and there.

Not much of interest to say...I just turned 30, been married for almost 4 years, trying (unsuccessfully) for children, blah, blah.

I am within 29 games of playing through every US-released NES game. I'm not saying I've done it without cheating, which I have for a lot of them, but I have played through all but 29 of them. Unfortunately, a majority of the 29 games left are those damn Koei historical strategies and other damn hard games, like Overlord. I've been playing NES since about 1986 and it has taken over 17 years, but I am closing in on my quest.

Otherwise, I'm just your average shmoe.

I had (still have) a good friend who worked at a video games store a couple minutes from my house, and everytime he worked (usually sundays/friday nights) id come in and waste time. Then when stupid EB offered to pay more for rent of the location, the store had to close. On the day before they closed, me and this friend went through the store and got whatever freebies we could get our hands on. We ended up leaving with a trolley full of crap, which included several mega drives and games.
That was about 9 months ago, and since then ive been collecting. Most of my systems are in my home-made arcade cabinet with mega drive arcade controller and the usual joypads. i love it =)
I also have a small site with Megadrive and whatever else- http://darkstalkers.spyw.com

Hi, my name is Jeroen Post and I am 20 years old. I live in Amsterdam, and that's in the Netherlands.

I found the forums while looking for some rarity lists for a few Sega consoles, and I found the relevant information on this site.

My all-time favorite games include:

(Saturn) Panzer Dragoon Saga, Guardian Heroes, Torico Gekkamugentan
(Dreamcast) Shenmue series, Soul Calibur, Skies of Arcadia
(Master System) Castle of Illusion, Golden Axe Warrior, Streets of Rage
(Megadrive/Genesis) Sonic 3, Shining Force II, Zero Wing

I collect videogames for Sega systems (have some Nintendo and PS items though), and mainly the Saturn and Dreamcast.

In a few weeks I'm starting a job at a videogameshop, with a store in Amstelveen and Amsterdam. My main interests are: Sega, collecting videogames, movies and listening to good music ;)

I started playing videogames at the age of 4, when I played the 2600 at my grandma's house. The first console I owned was a NES, and from that time I played for several hours a day. Over the years, I have collected about 18 different systems and about 420 games for them. I know it's not much, comparing to some of the HUGE collections I've seen here, but I am quite satisfied with it ;)

That's my story.

Hello,

My name is Rege (actually, it's Regis, like the guy on TV). I live in Pennsylvania, US. I found the forums much by accident while searching for "cheap NES games" on google.

I was at the mall in EB with a friend and on the way out passed "the bin" of old NES, SNES and Genesis games. That sparked a conversation between my friend and I of the old NES days. That weekend, I returned home for a family reunion and, while unable to get the old NES away from my brother, I was able to snag about 35 (of the good) games. Unfortunately I had to purchase an NES from eBay (actually not too badly priced), which works like a charm. So, about 4 weeks in I have a not-too-shabby collection of about 45 of the best (in my opinion) NES games with a couple (slightly) rarer ones.

I'm currently a student majoring in journalism and thus don't have alot of extra cash (atleast that doesn't go towards the bars and pizza). So, while I have found myself searching eBay for the rarer games and better deals, I wouldn't neccassarily call myself a collector at all.

My apartment also has the SNES, Genesis, N64, Gamecube, DreamCast and PSX2, within its doors of which only the N64 and Gamecube are "mine."

My name is Benjamin and I live in Richmond, Va. I don't remember how I found the forums, but it seems to me that the entire digitalpress site wasn't that high up in the google results (I've been collecting a long time and only recently found this site).
My favorite games for the PC are Ultima 2,3,5-7, Star Control II, Gettysburg/Antietam, Master of Orion, Half Life, Duke Nukem 3D (so fun to play over a LAN in college), Caesar III/Pharaoh, BF1942, and Medieval: Total War. My favorite console games include Warsong, Lunar SS for Sega CD, Herzog Zwei, Rygar, Phantasy Star II, Military Madness, and Powerball.
I collect for the NES, SMS, SNES, TG16, Genesis, Sega CD, PSX, Lynx, Gameboy, PC-Engine/SuperGrafx, Saturn, Dreamcast and N64. I'm not buying any new game systems. I have to stop somewhere. :)
I'm the IT Coordinator for the APVA, which owns the property that the original Jamestown fort existed on and which we're currently digging up. I'm building web stuff for them and doing day-to-day computer stuff.
I began collecting because I heard that they were doing a remake of Lunar for the PSX and that brought me back to the Sega CD days. I went to the Working Designs web site and they mentioned that the Sega CD version was selling for a pretty penny on eBay. I had never been on eBay, but I went and searched for Lunar, and 4 years later I'm still hooked on collecting (and eBay :/ ).

Name: Sotenga, AKA Nintendo Dreamstation, AKA Mike
Place: Very boring slice o' Pennsylvania
How I'm Here: Link from OPCFG
Favorite Games: Umm... every game in existence? Seriously, I got a lot.
Collect for: NES, SNES, Genesis, PSOne, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, XBOX, every Game Boy ever made
Real Life: So boring, everyone would fall asleep reading about it. So I won't go there.
Miscellany-us: I'm a hardcore emulator, MAME is my God, visit other great vintage game sites like the OPCFG and ClassicGaming. Movies and Music also rock. Reality shows and Bill Gates are the utter banes of my life. I love Emoticons... :D :D :D :D :D

Flack
08-09-2003, 12:24 PM
Name: Flack (aka Rob) from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

How you found the forums: Link from Slashdot.

What your favorite games are: I have lots and lots of favorite games, but my all time fav' would probably be either vs. Excitebike (NES), Shinobi (Arcade) or Paradroid (C64).

What systems you currently own: Pong, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Odyssey II, C64, SX64, C128, Apple II, TI99/4A, NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, Playstation, Playstation II ... and a GP32 (very cool little handheld that runs a lot of emulators, including C64, NES, Atari ST, and others). I'm also currently building a MAME cabinet (who isn't/hasn't). I have owned as many as 15 arcade video game cabinets, but I'm currently down to three (Shinobi, Bucky O'Hare, and Arachnid Darts).

What you do in "real life": In real life I work for Lockheed Martin as an employee of the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) as a Senior Network Engineer. I'm 29, married, and a father of one. I have a dedicated "video game/computer" loft which has six consoles hooked up (PS2, Dreamcast, N64, SNES, Sega Genesis, Atari 2600) to a projector and surround sound system. Sure, DVDs look great on it, but so does Mortal Kombat.

Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: I was born in 1973. We had a Pong system when I was 4, followed quickly by an Odyssey 2 and an Atari 2600 (I still have all those original systems). With a 20 month old son I don't get the gaming time in that I used to, but I'm looking forward to finishing my MAME cabinet and playing some of the old classics with my son in a few years. I occasionally buy and sell arcade video games, usually through local auctions.

My Introduction.......
Just joined and Just sent in photo for member photos so here is my intro to conclude it all........
My REAL NAME IS: Rob Daviau, I currently reside in British Columbia Canada in a city called Kelowna. I have been visiting these forums as a gueast for a couple years now, I discovered it because I'm always searching for sites about Retro Gaming and I finally decided to join this fourm. my Favorite games aren't so much classics, don't get me wrong, I've been into classics since I saw PONG and the Telestar Home gaming system. I've owned just about every home system ever made, but anyway, being a videogame addict AND Horror buff my favorite games are the Resident Evil Series. Unfortunately for me that means at some point, even though I don't want one I'll have to get a game cube as I hear RE on the Cube is amazing. I Don't have the money to collect for seperate systems nowadays so I stick to mostly PC and emulated, mame etc, But I emulate and play games for just about every system 8bit on up. Just wish the PC did better Saturn Emulation, I mean jeez if it can emulate 3d capcom arcade games.........
Currently I'm unemployed having moved here last Oct from Toronto but hope to improve my PC once I can afford it. I love Horror, SciFi, StrongBad Emails, Emulation, Retro Gaming, oh, and I'm 35 and will be getting married in Vegas this upcoming October....thank you, thank you very much!!!!!

I am a 35 year old architect/graphic designer from Seattle, who became a father a year ago. My stay at home, take care of the boy, lifestyle kindled a desire to return to the games of my youth. After a gift of a Nes and cartridges and a 2600 purchase and then that damned DP guide I caught the collecting bug. After lurking on this forum for a few months I decided to join.

I collect about anything I can get. Limited finances have got me concentrating on NES, boxed N64 game collection, Playstation I and Dreamcast with the occasional 2600 thrown in. I am very game agnostic and could not describe which game types would be my favorite. Platformers, schmups, RPF pretty much any game except sports titles.

I'll introduce myself a bit better this time:

My name is Jason Anderson. I live in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Lived in Lambertville, New Jersey for 20 years until March 2000.

I am a Mac user who used Windows up until September, 2000 when Windows finally crossed the line. I collected old Macs from 2000 to 2002 then stopped when it became an expensive hobby. Struggling to find somethjing new to collect, a month ago I bought a Genesis and started myself on my new hobby, Video Game collection. I find it more fun, less expensive and more fun. I shifted my online presence from mainly Mac Forums to mainly Game forums.

I am currently slowly buiding up my NES collection and Dreamcast collection with SNES and Genesis on the side. Then I'll move to N64 and somewhere in there I'll go after the Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, Jaguar, Turbo Grafix 16 and all the rest of the mid-80's to late 90's consoles. Maybe when I'm old and gray and have collected them all, I'll move to what's left of the pre-NES consoles. Whatever hasn't disintegrated into a fine powder. ;)

Oh, and maybe handhelds.

Started my gaming life when i was about 5 years old with the Atari VCS. When I hit 8 my parents bought me a Mattel Aquarius. Boy was I in heaven! My brother and I pitched in for a NES in 1986. Bought a Genesis around 1993. A Sega Saturn at launch. A N64 (if only for Mario 64 and Goldeneye). Xbox at launch. Too many arcade games to list.

My name is Klaus, I'm a college teacher (Political Science), 45, I'm a native German (wiss an accent). I've been living in the US since 1989, mostly in Milwaukee, WI where I currently reside.

I was hooked onto videogames since I discovered the first warp zone in SMB for the NES, that was back in 1989. Since then I just LOVE videogames, they fascinate me, they are great entertainment. I'm also very interested in questions which go beyond playing - the history of videogames, market economics for games and companies, the development of the game industry and what the future will hold, and the conditions of game development back then and now.

I'm more of a videogame player rather than a collector. However, I can relate to the mindset of a collector. I'm pedantic with a capital P, and If I'd collect it would open floodgates - and that scares me. :) What prevents me from crossing the line is my aversion for avarage or even bad games - I just don't want them on my game shelves, a bad game almost hurts my feelings. I'm subscribed to three mags - Nintendo Power, Gamepro, and Game Informer. By just playing I collected so far around 220 games. I have also a nice collection of game mags (Nintendo Power, EGM, GamePro, all mint, around 700), and around 120 strategy guides (all mint) from the early Nintendo Power Guides and early Prima Guides in black and white - I'm a map fanatic. For all the game systems themselves I have still the boxes in mint condition with all the advertisements....and, like a true videogame nut, I have also a gameroom.

Here's a list of the games I have (all complete, all mint, noteworthy: I finished all the NES and SNES games):

- Who you are

- Where you live
Dallas Texas

- How you found the forums
Found the forum from a link on the cgexpo.com page. Started reading the CGE info and just tracked back to the main Digital Press site.

- What your favorite games are
Too many to list.. Right now: Halo , KOTOR, Warlords (arcade), Galaga (arcade), Millipede (arcade), Mortal Kombat (1-3 arcade), ...

- What systems you collect for
I'm mainly an arcade collector, but I've also got a couple 2600's, Dreamcast, Xbox, 3DO, C64, a couple Amigas, NGPC, and GBA.

- What you do in "real life"
I'm a Powerbuilder/Oracle programmer writing programs for utility companies.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc
I've been a minor collector since I got my first 2600 in the early 80's (which I still have and use!). Spent some time in the NES world and have dabbled in just about every console out there. Started collecting arcade games about 4 years ago and am up to 20 uprights, one cocktail, one pinball, and about 40 boards for various other games. Currently restoring a Star Wars upright, Defender, and Asteroids along with a few other minor projects.

08-22-2003, 02:23 AM
David Flemming, from SouthEastern, WI.

Found the forums years ago, as a lurker, and just recently started posting.

My favorite video games by system (mostly old ones):
2600 - Robot Tank, 5200 - Wizard of Wor, 7800 - Alien Brigade, Jaguar - Iron Soldier, Lynx - Pinball Jam, Astrocade - Incredible Wizard, Coleco - Q*bert, Invtellivision - Tron Deadly Discs, Odyssey2 - Pick Axe Pete, Vectrex - Mine Storm.

As far as collecting, I have a decent sized variety of older systems. I don't collect for many modern system, aside from the GBA SP and the Nintendo GameCube. My favorite system is the Odyssey2. I grew up with this system, and it has grown on me over the years. Just can't get enough of it. I started collecting foreign games for the O2 last year, and am still going strong trying to complete my collection. All other systems I have I just collect games that I really like to play. No real big rare items (at least, none that I haven't sold off in the last few years).

In 'real life', I have a number of jobs that I do. My main job is as a Computer Operator for a large international corporation. Ok job, but I've been doing this for too many years, and it's getting boring. But it pays the bills.
On the side: I maintain websites for a few clients, run a very small Macintosh consulting service, am the President of a gaming club (The Fellowship of the Black Spot), Edit and publish the 'Ink Blot' gaming newsletter, plus other things too numerous to mention. This is one reason why I'm so darn busy.
You can check out some of my web stuff at www.ozyr.com or www.fbshq.org.

I started collecting/playing video games when the RCA Studio II came out. My mother got it through BostenStore, where she worked. Loved the sytem back then, hate it with a passion today (it's crap). My second system was the Atari VCS, which died the first day I had it! Ended up returning it and buying an Odyssey2 instead. I haven't stopped playing the Odyssey2 ever since. Of course, as the years have gone by, I''ve been collecting for more and more systems. It is a fun hobby, but it can get expensive. Most I ever payed for a game was $262! Hope that never happens again. One nice thing, being 'Single', is that I don't have have anyone complaining about all the space that the games are taking up (four+ big rooms and counting).

- Who you are
Hi, I'm Isometric Bacon and I'm a 18 year old male, currently in high school. I've been addicted to videogames ever since I was a child, and it show's no sign's of stopping anytime soon :)

- Where you live - Australia Mate. Adelaide, South Australia to be more specific. Needless to say, I don't think i'll be going to any of your meetings. ;)

- How you found the forums

I followed a link on DCemulation.com forums through a thread that was asking for a good videogames forum.

- What your favorite games are

Ooh. Far too many to mention. You should know that you can't ask an avid games player that question. At the moment though, Ghost's N Ghouls takes the cake. :)

- What systems you collect for

I don't really 'collect' per se. But I buy games I want for my Xbox/Dreamcast.

- What you do in "real life"

Study. *cough* (if you could call it that :P)

Hello everyone.

I am a highschool student, who collects games with a passion. :)

My first system was a NES when I was a kid. I then moved on with the Super NES, and the received an Atari VCS.

Systems i collect for: NES, Atari 5200, Virtual Boy, Super NES, Master System.

Current favorite games: Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Balloon Fight (thats a given), Halo, Galaga, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Capcom vs. SNK 2.

My favorite genres have to be arcade and fighting.

I knew about this site a long time ago from a friend but never joined the forums until now.

Hello everyone.

My name is Mike and I live in South Milwaukee, WI.

Someone at http://www.gametz.com told me about these forums. I check them a lot but rarely post.

Some of my favorite games are Earthbound, Suikoden I+II, Pirates!, Civilization, Halo, Space Harrier, Super Mario RPG, Snatcher, Super Mario Bros. 3, Outrun, and Nights Into Dreams.

The systems I most enjoy collecting for are Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Sega Saturn, NES, and SNES. I am currently going for a complete collection of Sega 32X games and have 8 more to go. (Already have Spiderman)

In "real life" I am a college student. Currently unemployed but during the summer I had a pretty fun job in an IT Department for a 1500 employee company. I am majoring in computer science and hope to someday become a computer programmer or to work in IT.

Well I've been here a couple of months so I might as well introduce myself.

My name is Charles and I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA (you won't believe the number of people think New Mexico is in a different country). I'm a Unix and VMS system admin for a Semiconductor Fab and I've been involved with computers since I was a teenager. I'm 43 and I guess that makes me one of the geezers on this forum (In my day we didn't have fancy computers to play video games. We had ROCKS! And we liked it! We loved it!).

I've been gaming off and on now for about 28 years. I started with the arcade games and then later on computers and then home consoles. I don't remember clearly the first arcade game I played but I do remember when I played my first computer game. It was 1976 and it was Star Trek on my fathers computer: an Altair 8800 (hence my alias). I was hooked. My father couldn't afford both a video terminal and a printer so he got a printer with a keyboard attached. I must of used up at least two reams of paper playing nothing but Star Trek and that was back when computer paper was expensive.

My next gaming experience happened when a friend of mine bought an Atari 400 in 1979. It came with Star Raiders. I camped out at my friends apartment many a time and he kicked me out at least couple of times. So I didn't play the 2600 until after I was already hooked on the 8-bit and when I did I wasn't impressed. But I played it anyway and discovered that gameplay on the VCS was better with some games than the Atari 8-bit (Super Breakout for example).

Since then I've bought the Game Gear, Lynx, Jaguar, Atari 7800 and the Game Boy systems. Until 1998, however, I would consider myself a casual gamer, playing maybe a couple hours a month on average. Then I went to World of Atari in 1998 at Las Vegas. I had no idea that many people were still into Atari computers and games and, as a result my own interest in gaming climbed rapidly. My current colletion is now probably four times in size then what it was in 1998.

The Game Boy systems are my latest acquistion (Game Boy, Game Boy Color, GBA and GBA-SP - I got them all) and I've been playing Tetris, Links Awakening and Brain Games, which I just got at CGE2K3. I've also been playing the 10-in-1 Atari system I found at Game Stop. Every once in a while I play Galaga via MAME on my PC. I tend to play more of the classic games since for me game play is what it's all about. My favorite game has to be Defender on the Atari 8-bit. I rule that game on the 8-bit (but I suck on the arcade version). I love Joust too, especially on the Lynx.

I've known about this site for a couple of years now after I bought the 6th edition of the DP guide at either CGE2K or CGE2K1 (can't remember). It was only recently that I joined the forum when Retrotaku showed me all the neat topics that have been posted.

I collect for the systems I listed above but lately I've been thinking about getting a Dreamcast. Retrotaku just bought one and I want to hear his thoughts before I take the "plunge" (not much of one - Dreamcasts are cheap! $30!). I don't own a modern console system and probably won't until I can get one for under $100. If the next game crash comes I'll be there buying up some consoles. LOL

I hope no one gets made at me for bumping this up...like a lot of other boards I go to...if you bump an old topic, they get mad at you. But oh well... I might as well introduce myself.

My name is Lane. I've heard about this website for a long time, but I've never really taken a chance to go here. I have never boughten a print edition of DP, because I can never find one around here.

I am intrested in retro games (recently bought a NES and a SNES back into my collection), Prototypes (never bought anything off of EBay though, because mainly of underage reasons and the consulting of the parents, because they'll think I'm buying porn), and unreleased games.

And that's my story.

It just dawned on me that i've been here for 8 months or so.......and never did one of these.......or maybe i just couldn't find it. but here it is......

- Who you are

I'm mark......that's me

- Where you live

NW Ohio, a town called St. Marys if that means anything to anybody

- How you found the forums

searching for info on sealed NES games, i stumbled across a yahoo link to the ebay insanity forum on the old board........then it took me a month to find the link at the top of the page, thus leading to the NEW board!

- What your favorite games are

the unaskable question, NES is what i really love. basic stuff, i dont mind if a game takes 10 years to complete as long as i feel like i'm getting somewhere everytime i play it, and there aren't 100,000 buttons to remember. but, i do like some games with 100,000 buttons......just takes time for me to get into them.......and it's an ugly addiction once i do.(old megaman, SMB, power pad games, and alot of black box nes titles were really great, o ya.......MT's Punchout)

- What systems you collect for

seems like everything but sega really, i like sega stuff i just never got into it. (NES, and newer systems mainly but i have about every other system between.....to stack up in the back somewhere)

- What you do in "real life"

man.....another tough one......i'm the weird guy.......that makes monuments. not likely that i'll stir up any business here as i hope everybody is in good health......but thats what i do. and since all the supplies and tools are readily available, i also clean up metal.......like car parts and junk like that.....rusted stuff that needs the rust to be gone :) and i blast stuff into field rocks, family names for people to set in front of their house, school logos.......blah blah.....weird stuff LOL

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc

not anything really interested, but i find it fascinating......i never ever have time to play and watch all the games and movies i buy......yet that doesn't stop me from unloading every spare dollar i have into it. it's kind of a bad obsession but i guess it's better than crack.......maybe this is what crack is like?

Greetings, fellow gamers.

It was nice to get a warm welcome to this website. I found it while Googling for video game rooms. I used to think we had a lot of games, but our collection is nothing compared to some of these I've seen! I'm in awe.

I'm from the great state of Tennessee, and am in my early 30's. I work as a Web developer / project manager. I am happily married to a gorgeous woman, who is also an avid gamer (she's Aremid23, who posts here as well). We have 2 labrador retrievers who like to play games too, although their idea of playing games is limited to licking the controller while I'm in the middle of a boss fight :P

It's hard to pick a favorite game. Contra (NES) is probably my all-time favorite, with Tetris (NES), Dr. Mario (NES), Toejam and Earl (Genesis), Devil May Cry (PS2), Silent Hill 3 (PS2), Final Fantasy X (PS2), Kingdom Hearts (PS2), Halo (Xbox), and Splinter Cell (Xbox) being other favorites.

I'm not really a serious collector. I just buy games that I want to play, regardless of what system. We have 25 consoles (for now), and we buy for all of them whenever we find something we want to play.

My desire to start getting this serious about gaming came after I met my wife. I have always played games, but as I got into my 20's, my gaming habit had been reduced to the occasional GoldenEye frag-fest or Mario Kart 64 race with my friends. Then I met my wife, who was also into games. She really brought back my love of games. Now, we play and go shopping for new games together all the time. Life is good.

Hello everyone, I guess this calls for an introduction ;)

My name is Richard Paquette, I’m 28 and from Derby, Connecticut in the USA.

I was informed about this site from a friend (Kidnemo) on www.the-nextlevel.com forums, I was in search of something I really wanted badly and I was told I might find some help here :)

I’m mostly into RPGs and Strategy RPGs, though I will play almost anything from shooters to sports and everything in between, Squaresoft is my favorite developer amongst the bunch, but there are quite a few others I like as well :) I also love games with werewolves in them, undoubtedly my favorite gaming werewolf is none other then Jon Talbain of course ;)

I collect games for many different systems, mostly 8-bit up though, but I have a good selection from NES to import systems and arcade boards as well. I have a very nice collection of Squaresoft titles from way back to their beginning to more recent as well as a almost complete collection of every Final Fantasy game ever made :-D

In my real life I do design and drafting as a CADD Operator, the company I work for does primarily restoration and rehabilitation of existing structures, some of the jobs we work on include historical landmarks such as the New York Stock Exchange and the US Capitol Dome in Washington DC, we also do work for businesses and various other projects as well.

I play video games and collect them as well, I’m active in the gaming community and have done several beta tests as well as evaluations for one of the gaming developers which is pretty nice :)

I started playing game in the arcades and over my friends house, my first gaming system was the Atari 2600 which I loved to death… damn joystick boots wouldn’t stay on though :P I didn’t really start collecting till some time after though, right around the beginning of the 32-bit era, I hardly sold my older stuff so I had a decent amount of games already to start with, sometimes I’m a bit obsessed with collecting but lately I cut down… no really ;)

I work a lot and really don’t have much free time, so unfortunately gaming is somewhat limited now for me… but I love to game when ever I get some free time from work :)

I’m an easy going person usually a mellow guy whose somewhat quiet as well, I’m not perfect though and have regrets on past misdeeds… but through them I’ve become a better person I believe.

I love nature and animals, I’m particularly fond of wolves… I really can’t explain why but I have some sort of deep feeling for wolves, it is something that I feel in my heart that just is right and very familiar when I see them which also explains my love of werewolves… not the stupid horror movie monsters, but rather a werewolves of nature and how I feel inside.

So that’s pretty much it, I value family and friends, love nature and it’s creatures as well as try to help those I can, I’m certainly not the greatest but that doesn’t matter as long as I’m happy and with those who care about :)

Hey fellow gamers!

First of all, I'd like to say how cool this thread is. What a great way to learn more about everyone! Now on to me...

I am a 26 year old gamer (a girl gamer). I live in TN with my husband, 2 Labs, and 2 Tabby cats. I learned of this site from Voodoo (my husband's name on this site) when he emailed me the link to this site while I was at work one day last week. I was thrilled to discover that this board is as lively and friendly as it is.

Hmmm... my fave games. I'll try to keep it short. I consider both individual games and/or its series to be my favorite. Most of these are my fave series of games. They include:
Super Mario Bros. (nes)
Castlevania
Mortal Kombat
Silent Hill
Devil May Cry
Kingdom Hearts
Ninja Gaiden
Tony Hawk
Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 (xbox)
Onimusha
Ms. Pac Man
SSX Tricky (GCN)
Golden Sun - my first completed traditional RPG

We collect for all the systems we own (http://voodoo_game.tripod.com). Our collection isn't as huge as most collectors' because we mainly buy them because we want to play them. Lately, we've been buying alot of games for the current consoles. My next system purchase (I hope) is going to be a Sega Saturn import.

When I'm not gaming, or giving much attention to my 2 doggies, I'm working:( I handle the accounting for a wholesale company. Nothing spectacular, but it pays the bills and buys me games.

I started playing when I was about 4 or 5. I got hooked on my cousin's Atari 2600. My parents were great enough to support my gaming obsession and buy me one of my own. When the NES came out, it was all downhill from there, lol. Any Mario game probably holds the record for most hours played. I remember my brother and I staying up late many nights playing and/or beating any given Mario game.

I never started "collecting" until the mid 90's... around the 32-bit era, when I learned about used game stores. I started buying NES games that I had usually rented or borrowed from a friend, but never owned. I was, and still am, estatic when I met my husband in the late 90s and learned of his gaming interests and we began collecting together. Needless to say, we were perfect for one another:)

I have always been partial to Nintendo, but love playing and buying other systems and their games!

As a girl gamer, I always made alot of friends (yes, mainly guys) and they were surprised when I could actually 'play'. I've never been afraid to admit that I absolutely love video games. I take my GBA SP to work with me all the time! Although girl gamers seem rare, I never classified myself as such. I'm just a gamer, who can usually hold her own. And fortunately, most gamers that I meet, only notice me as a "gamer". So that's cool.

Hi Folks,

I know that this is my 676th post, but I realized when talking to NESuser2/Mark Spring, I realized that I never did properly introduce myself. My apologies. Mark was telling me about when he started collecting, so I told him my tale. Here's a recap:

Hi Mark!

Doing a little cleaning here just before I logged on myself. LOL Making room for more games...sigh. It's incredible how I constantly run out of room and find yet another way to consolidate all my crap.

I remember when I was 13-14 (I'm 25 now), I had about 35 NES games and I thought I had this huge collection....one day my best friend moved away...Smyrna, GA. Well, he was and is still one of the most knowledgeable and skilled gamers I know, and we talked all the time over long distance. Back then there was no 5c per minute stuff. Well anyway, I got this $400 phone bill and my parents almost shot me. I took my friend's ass-crappy 1 speed bike and trekked it 6 miles to sell a bunch of my games.

Well, I vowed that would never happen again, so around '96 or so I really began to actively collect. I can't believe I've only been on the forums for a little over a year, I think....

The last year or so has seen my collection get enormous. I have nearly 30 systems, and probably 1500-2000 games. I really have no clue how I store it all. If my room wasn't so cramped, I'd add some pics of my collection to the gameroom pics on the forum.

I graduated from college in 2000, and I've been paying off school loans and trying to save for a down payment on a house while staying with my folks....seems to be working out...plan to be outta here in a couple years *knocks on wood.* I really should pay more toward bills and less toward games, but...well you know LOL LOL LOL LOL

Hey, I think I'll paste the above few paragraphs into the introduce yourself section of the forum, since I never really did get around to that. Better late than never.

-Rob

So that's me, folks. I got a BS in computer information systems, yet instead of really designing them, I sell them....well, I work as a corporate account manager at PC Connection and sell anything computer related...so let me know if ya wanna buy something (price match me and I'll beat em...definitely want you to get the best deal...after all, any computer stuff you buy just ends up being for games anyway, LOL) ! I'll hook you up just for being a DP member! You guys have helped me so much, I try to give back whenever possible.

I look forward to chatting woth you all.

Game On!

-Rob

Zach
09-12-2003, 01:53 PM
My name is Zach, and I live in Nashville, TN, the Music City. And that's exactly why I'm here - to play music. But that's off topic.

I've been playing video games since the age of 3, and I got into collecting about 5 years ago when my long time obsession with the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 reached its all time high. I used drool over the few screen shots I saw of "the Real Super Mario Bros. 2" and I dreamed of having enough money to buy a "Nintendo Disk Drive" from one of the companies advertising in the back of Electronic Gaming Monthly. When the internet really got going (with poularity of the World Wide Web) I started researching the Famicom Disk System and eventually took the eBay plunge a bought a system. Through other channels I was able to import a brand new AV Famicom (they weren't all over eBay, yet) and after some serious drive belt replacement projects, I was up and running with the floppy disk version of Mario 2.

Things have really snowballed since then, and I've gotten into all things Atari, I've acquired several Japanese systems (Super Famicom, Mega Drive, Green Pokemon GBA) and games, and I'm afraid there's no looking back.

I'm staying somewhat up to date with my Dreamcast and GameCube, and it's all I can do to keep myself from buying both the PS2 and XBOX. I just don't give the games I already own the time that they deserve, so I don't feel right about buying more hardware at retail prices.

To fund my collection habits, I work for myself as a web designer and programmer. I'm into computers, of course, but not so much for gaming. I've had some great runs with Doom, Quake, and Sim City, but my heart will always belong to consoles.

In my spare time I play and sing lead in an original rock band (No country music for me! Nashville's "rock scene" is actually huge!)

I have a BS in Computer Science from the University of Evansville, in Evansville, IN.

I'm not sure how I came across DP, but I submitted a "Lore" entry that made it into the Sixth Edition of the collector's guide. I love this site and these forums, and I'm happy to finally be a part of the action.

I currently have 16 consoles and a dedicated MAME computer hooked up via a network of AV/S-video switches to my entertainment rig. All of the RF-only systems have been modded to output composite or S-video. Check out the pic in my signature!

Like rbudrick, I never properly introduced myself either, so here goes....

I live South of Detroit, MI but am going to relocate to Phoenix, AZ in a matter of weeks.

I initially found this site while trying to dig up some facts on the laseractive. From there I searched around and found these boards.

My favorite games are the Zelda and DDR series, but I also go for any decent FPS.

I really don't collect for a particular system, I just buy what I like and will play. I've got all of the the mainstream consoles, but am more fascinated by the obscure ones.

I really don't do anything in life. I just graduated from college with a degree in Computer Information Systems, and finding a job right now is real tough. My goal is web design, but I'll take just about anything short of McDonald's right now :)

I was always a big game fanatic, but my parents never really saw it. We jumped from 2600 to NES and thats where it stopped. Once I got a job I bought an N64 and there has been no stopping me since!

I got a kick start "collecting" once I started working at Funcoland. Working there definitely had its benefits! Once I was able to score Dragon Ball GT for only $50 and FF2 Super CIB and FF3 Super CIB for only $20 each, I started getting into it. As soon as I landed two decent Saturn lots for a mere $10 I was hooked!

I'm not a collector by any means compared to most of these guys, in fact, I plan on parting with most of my stuff recently. But I find these boards an excellent means to finally communicate with some people on the same wavelength.

Delgrace
09-13-2003, 01:46 AM
Hallo.

My name's Jai, or Delgrace, which coined from my middle name and sorta stuck. I've been a gamer for, uhh, a while. Grew up with the Master System, which over in New Zealand and Australia did pretty well. Loved my Master System, and the few games we had (me and my family were pretty poor back then, and couldn't afford much). My cousin had a Mega Drive (err...Genesis, I guess), and my other cousin had a Super Nintendo. I sorta envied them both 'til I ended up with a Playstation later on.

I'm not sure what became of my Master System, but my cousin's SNES broke somewhere down the line, and my other cousin gave his Mega Drive to my grandparents when he bought a Saturn. Then his Saturn broke (they're all a bit rough), and the rest is history. That was all a few years ago.

Now, in better times, we're a bit richer (although not by much), and I get the odd bit of money. I wanted to get back to my Sega roots, so I bought a Saturn sometime last year. Of course finding old Sega games is a major pain in the ass over here in Australia, so I've yet to break even 10 titles. I was also meant to go garage sale hunting for the first time in years today, but I woke up at 12, so that was pretty much out of the question (which was disappointing, because there was one just down the road somewhere and I hope I didn't miss anything good). I'll probably have to find some good pawnshops or something.

But now I'm rambling. I'm a Sega man at heart, but I'm wise enough to know when something makes good tradebait, so I'll pretty much get anything I can if it's good and I can afford it. My collection is...tiny (as in, tiny tiny), but I'm only 15, so I've still got a few years ahead of me.

So hi.

18 and a half year old...
But still with the experience of many generations.
Quick learner and fast typer (type 'o holic)

- Where you live

Through Martin (Nesworld).
He posted some stuff about this place...
(every once in a while, but it's first now that I decided to join-in myself)

- What your favorite games are
Oh... Difficult one...
Mostly any game that keeps me entertained...

- What systems you collect for
Any, all, everything!
Give it to me and I'll take it!
Offer it to me and I'll trade for it (or buy it if I got money)
Drop it on the ground and I'll pick it up, tell you I found it, and either tell you to give it to me or claim my 10% finders fee!

- What you do in "real life"
I'm currently a student at RID

Already got some papers that says I'm an artist...
Yeah, that's what I am. A creative artist... Yay ^_^
Also, I'm currently sys-admin for my class (and therefor get extra papers for that 8-) )

Earlier, I did some freelance work for some different places, doing reviews and previews of games... So I've gathered a huge collection of crap through the years... Yeah, the decided to send me mostly the crappy games and let me do those... Well, atleast I got some goodies/freebies ^_^

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Hmm... I'm not realy interesting... I guess...
But I quickly notice details, I quickly learn, and I've basicly been raised by games... So... I'm just continuing my life of gaming...
And trying not to forget the past... (even though certain parts could've been forgotten, if I ever got the chance to chose so)

Danke, that's about it.

Oh, yeah, if you see someone named Carnivol somewhere else...
I guess that it's like a 110% chance that it's me...

I found these forums by way of Joe Santulli himself. As you might know me from comp.sys.ti or rec.games.video.classic as a TI-99 and Tomy Tutor collector. I'm trying to get some pages made of these wonderful systems, since it seems many don't know much about them in the classic gaming circles. Happy to be here!

Hello guys. I am Ter Micharoni in Staten Island, NY. I'm sure Joe and a lot of you remember me for my old fanzine, Zap!, which was produced in the early 90's. I did a search for my name and it's mentioned on this board like three times (for giving hints). I started gaming in 1979, and today have over 500 games, 500+ video game magazines, dozens of gaming toys, over 20 systems, three computers, and tons of misc. posters, catalogs, books, codes, fanzines, etc. My name has also appeared in EGM and Electronic Games. I also hold the top score for Monster Lair for the NEC Turbo Grafx CD-ROM. I have several sites, and the main one is in my sig below. My favorite game of all-time is Ys: Book I and II for the Turbo Grafx CD. Well, happy gaming!

Hello everyone, my name is Michael, though most call me Mike. I have been into videogames since I was seven years of age. I just recently started getting into SNK games and bought myself a Neo-Geo AES. When I am not playing the Neo-Geo I am playing my Dreamcast or Super Nintendo. I am graduating from hishschool this December and I plan to go to a four year college. I still have some love for 3D gaming but for the most part, 2D gaming is where its at. My favorite fighter of all time is Last Blade 1, a true classic.

From around a corner you're sure wasn't there a moment ago, stroles a creature of infinite beauty, power, and wisdom. She pauses, adjusting the brim of her hat whilst her wandering eyes move gingerly over the crowd. The faint glimmer of a mischievous smile forms upon her countenance...

"Hello everyone," her voice is soft and reminds you of a joyful song from deep within your callow years. "I am Tabbs. One might recognize me as the Master of the Universe, or one might not. After all, it is not every lucky mortal that has the pleasure of spending time with a deity."

Once more, a playful smile flashes across her features. "I make my home where I will, moving freely through your world." She pauses, emiting a quiet chuckle, "Perhaps I should say my world . . ." With a wink and a nod, she moves further into the room. "While wandering amungst you, a particulaly boisterous young man dirrected my attentions here. You may thank him as you like, but your time is mine at present."

The light seems to shift and follow her in movement about the room. "One might ask why a deity would bother with such a place? I do hope you not so arrogant to hold this place above that which grants you life." With these words she turns abot, her eyes piercing though each of you. "When I am not seeing to it that the universe stays in balance or toying with human lives
, I do enjoy the occasional video game." She emits another soft giggle before piping up once more. "OR . . . perhaps I'm just here for more meddling??"

It seems she has fallen silent, though she attracts no less of your attention in such a state. Working her way through the room with a light nod to the occasional mortal, she moves for the corner through which she came around. Reality shifts before your eyes as she dissapears behind what is now a solid wall. You rub your eyes, glancing about at those around you, each asking the same silent question . . . "Have you all gone mad??"

- Who you are

Hi, I'm Doug, just some guy.

- How you found the forums

Hmmmm. . .I think probably while lurking at AtariAge.

- What your favorite games are

Here's some. . .Rez (DC), Panzer Dragoon Saga, Tempest 2000 (Jaguar), Kaboom!. . .the list is long and changes. Right now I'm playing Border Down on DC and the Star Soldier remake on my new Gamecube!

- What systems you collect for

I guess I don't collect specifically to get a complete collection for a particular system or anything. In my early Jaguar days I was on the road to having a complete collection. The games were cheap, and the then new Telegames releases were readily available (IS 2, Towers 2, etc). . .but I decided that I was being nuts and stopped. :)

I go through phases of what system holds my attention: I went through a JPN Saturn phase from like 2000-2001, when the discontinuing of the Dreamcast led me to leave the Saturn a bit to start buying up all the then cheap (and good) DC games I could. Earlier this year I went through a small phase buying Japanese CD games for my TurboDuo.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I still have my 2600 (well, Sears Tele-games!) that my parents bought me when I was young, as well as my NES, but for various reasons I stopped gaming and missed the very end of the NES era, the SNES/Genesis era, and the 1st half of the PS/Saturn/N64 era (I know! what was I thinking?!?. . .apologies to all other systems from those eras not mentioned). Anyway, I got back into gaming in 1997 when the Jaguar was being blown out for $30 at Kay-Bee. I figured I always liked Atari as a kid, so I picked it up more out of nostalgia than anything.

When I got the system I purchased Dino Dudes and Supercross 3D and proceeded to be unimpressed. Then I went back and got Tempest 2000 and was like, "Oh! This is what has happened in gaming since I've been gone!"

Since then I've accumlated many systems and games, keeping up with newer systems, and trying to get good games I missed from the past. I guess I'm a collector via being a pack-rat in general! I try to buy games that I will enjoy to play, but will nonetheless hang on to games that I dislike. Someday I'll have a huge sale and unload a ton of stuff. Maybe when I'm 60. . .? :)

Whoa. . .how's that for long-winded. Sorry! At any rate, I'm glad to be here!

Anyways, I'll make this brief:

- Who you are
Wes Bond, a.k.a. Sofa King Gud

- Where you live
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

- How you found the forums
I used the search engine Google, to find rarity lists and video game collector guides, and I found this wickid site.

- What your favorite games are
Varies from week to week. Right now, its got to be NBA Jam, Rock N' Roll Racing, and Jimmy Connor's Pro Tennis Tour (SNES).

- What systems you collect for
SNES, NES, Genesis, Playstation 1 and 2, and Sega CD.

- What you do in "real life"
I'm a student/jock, thats why I usually like classic sports games a lot... Don't want to give away too much info. :P

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Not really, but I just got back into classic gaming. It's funny, because Classic games relax me after a long day, and today's more modern games don't, go figure.

-Who you are

The name's Carey, and yes, it's male gender oriented in this case. I'm also 18 years old and come from Waukesha, Wisconsin.

- How you found the forums

I just happen to find them one day looking around.

- What your favorite games are

From the recent generations, I'm huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid games, and also a fan of Metal Gear before the current ones.
Metroid Fusion and Metroid 3 are easily up there for my favorite games, and also Zelda: Link to the Past. Mega Man 2 is classic in my eyes still, just because its where I started to play like mad. And, gotta love Mario Bros. 3. Oh, and of course, almost every single Sonic game.

- What systems you collect for
I try and collect as often as possible, but I run into lots of expensive games here in Wisconsin. Anyways, I collect for NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation, Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, N64, and Game Boy (advance).

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I don't have many interesting facts, and I don't know how I began collecting. Just one day I felt the need to just buy games, and since then I've been trying to get games I've desired to play, or games that bring back that good old nostalgia.

-Who you are
Chris, 18, currently living in Austin, TX and studying Computer Science at the University of Texas (Hook 'em!)

- How you found the forums
Google lead me to another classic gaming site which lead me to this wonderful community

- What your favorite games are
The Mega Man series by far, I fell in love with video gaming through MM2 + 3. Although they began to mess up the classic game formula in the late games of both original and X series, I still find myself coming back for more! Also, all of the Mario games tickle my fancy (with the exception of 2 and Sunshine..). And of course, who can forget the lovable Bubble Bobble/Rainbow Islands games!

-What systems you collect for
As you can see, I'm pretty much a diehard NES/SNES collector, although I do have current systems like PS2/GC and HAD DC/Saturn for a while..

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Just a few months ago I read the announcement for Mega Man X7...and I began to hate my parents for making me sell my old video game systems and games a while back! Since then I've been on a furious hunt to reclaim my childhood :), spending all of my available funds on whatever I can find. I've always been a packrat, so I do have a complete and consuming obsession with finishing my collection to the fullest, which I thought was pretty rare until I found this forum LOL !

Well, I have been a gamer since about the time I could crawl. Had jsut about every system through the years, and sold way to many of em:) I was the type when the new systemscame out I would sell the old stuff usually get a pittance and move to the newest. That stopped about 7 years ago when I discovered import games and some that never made it over here. I basically have a set list of games I want for each system, and a couple I am working on complete runs for a couple of systems (dreamcast, n64, virtual boy). I am a big rpg fan, and have been since my d & d days as a kid ( I would still play if I could find a group that didn't disgust me or scare me lol). I have a wife of almost 3 years and yes I sucked her into the dark side (pso for the dreamcast did it) she plays alot of rpg's but she likes platformers and will try most anything game wise.

If you are a collector and live in my area give me a holler I am starting up a local collector's group.

Hey everybody, my name is Nate and I'm from Michigan.

I've always been a gamer since I can remember, literally some of the first memories I have are playing a Coleco Vision.... which unfortunately has long since broken :(

I own an NES that I've had since I was three, and I'm about twenty now, have got about 30 or 40 games for that, I'll work up a list later I spose... I also own an SNES, a DC, a Genesis, an N64, a PS1 and a Gamecube... mostly I've been sticking to the good ole' NES though.

I'd LIKE however to get into collecting of Super Famicom, Neo Geo AES/MVS, as well as more NES, SNES and maybe some DC. See I haven't gotten into the collecting aspect until recently, which has mostly been fueled by reading these boards :)

and well I guess thats about as much introducing as I'll be able to pull off at the moment, but I do hope to be posting here much more often and hopefully burning some hard earned money on gaming in the near future!

Bloodcat
10-10-2003, 05:04 AM
Hmm.. guess I need to do this thing again.

Who am I? The infamously grouchy Bloodcat.

Why am I grouchy?

I am neither oldschool enough to want it to be 1982 again, but not newschool enough to be happy with the current videogame climate.

I am more than happy to gripe and yell about Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and how much I hate real time in my strategy gaming.

My first videogame memory is in 1980 when I was 6, playing Space Invaders on a neighbor's Atari 2600.

These days I do the odd bit of retrogaming, while picking up what I hope will be the choicest videogame morsels of today. Usually I end up with a buggy mess of wasted potential like Star Wars Galaxies and become more depressed than usual.

I'm cheap, I despise preordering unless I get something cool for doing so, and I try to support wierd and cult games, which end up being great ideas yet horribly implemented like R.A.D. and Titans of Steel.

I currently do my main gaming on the PC, with a side order of Gameboy Advance, X Box, PS2, and Gamecube.

My system collection includes:

Playstation 2
Gameboy Advance,Color, Original, Player, E Reader
Neo Geo Pocket Color
Sega Master System, 32x, CD, Genesis, Nomad, Dreamcast, Power Base Converter and Saturn
X Box
Atari 7800
A rapidly aging 1900 Athlon with a 3 years old Win 98 install
An Amiga 500 in need of a monitor or an A520 adaptor
Intellivision, ultra ugly Sears version
Nintendo NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube

My last console game count was over 350 and I was afraid to even begin counting PC games.

As I am a middle child of gaming, with my own obstinate personality forged from mostly buying the stuff I wanted to before anyone else did anyhow, I fully expect to unintentionally upset or offend those folks with more delicate personalities when it comes to their videogames. I apologize now, and request that my sig line is taken into account before I am yelled at. :)

Favorite games?

All time arcade is Atari Vector Coin Op Star Wars.
Current favorite is Knights of the Old Republic.
In the middle of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Disagea, Star Wars Galaxies, and Neverwinter Nights: Unretide expansion.

I currently reside in gamer hell, aka southeastern New England states region of the USA. Unless you think casinos are gaming. I don't. And I work at one. It does make me want to kill the dealer in Intellvision Blackjack though. Because he is a yellow and more facially expressive version of me.

Thank you and I hoped I passed the audition for the 2nd time. I went into lurk mode for the last 14 months or so..

Yo, gamers -

I'm Brendan, and I hail from the east. I was born near Chicago, then moved to Idaho Falls, ID, then ended up near Wilmington, NC for awhile, and finally, I'm here.

Unfortunately my reason for being here at the forums is originally because I wanted to plug (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20507) my convention, MAGFest (http://magfest.org/). But on the bright (?) side, it seems I've found everyone is it a little bit more geared towards games in the ways that I am, and respects the classics a bit more than, say, the folks over at the G4 forums (at least, so far). So you might be stuck with me for awhile.

Games that have made a big impact (some of these may sadden you; apologies in advance) on me to date that I can think of at the moment are: Arcade: Tempest, Sinistar, Dragon's Lair, Ninja Turtles, Mortal Kombat, Spy Hunter, STUN Runner, Hard Drivin, Marble Madness, Gauntlet, Sprint, Dance Dance Revolution
PC: Nethack has redefined my view on all PC games.
Atari: Most of the initial 2600 release classics / arcade bring-homes (Crystal Castles, Space Invaders, Asteroids), as well as lots of the early Activision releases (and Pitfall II).
Nintendo: Zelda, Contra, River City Ransom, Mario 2 and 3, Mega Man 2 and later, Pinball (ducks)
Sega: Alex Kidd, Spy vs. Spy, Columns, Y's, Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Other inspirational games: Final Fantasy, Bubble Bobble, Tetris, BC's Quest 1 & 2, Bomb Squad, argh too many games
I collect for, er, okay, I'm not going to answer this question, but instead I'll say that the newest system that I actually OWN (we have every system in existence <u>somewhere</u> in this house between my roomies and myself) is an original PlayStation.

In real life, I am a Pizza Delivery Boy. Non-paying jobs include running MAGFest and developing open-source software (see sig and/or website).

I watch anime and sci-fi, rarely use my TV except for videogames, spend a lot of time working on computers or playing around with linux/unix, write music, and, uh, stuff.

Hey everyone, My name is Ryan and im just about to be 15 (October 25th). I have been a member of the AtariAge forums sense about July under the same name, and decided to join the community over here! The systems I own (I dont collect for ALL of them, but most) Atari 2600 (around 150 games) Genesis (around 50) PS1 (20 or so) N64 (15) GameBoy Color (a measly 6 games) GameGear (3 games) PS2 (25) and am a HUGE computer gamer (I have a GeForce 4 4600 Ti, if that means anything to anyone), its impossible to estimate how many games I have bought throughout all the years. I have been playing videogames sense I was 3 and am an all around nerd. I look forward to meeting some of you, and a few I recognize from AA.com :D

Well lets see....

I'm 35 years old. My first game system was the Atari 2600. I went on to acquire an Odyssey 2, TI-99 4/a, C64, and an Amiga 500. Although I still have all my original systems and games, the act of collecting is rather new to me. In 2002 while planning my 11 year wedding anniversery to Las Vegas I noticed that CGE would be there at the same time. This was perfect since my wife is a diehard Keno player and I only gamble a little. There I got the collecting bug. When I got home I dug out all my old systems, brushed them off, and started them up. By the 2003 CGE I was collecting in full swing. Currently I am trying to finish my TI collection :D .

I cut my computing teeth on the TI, C64, and Amiga. I went on to get my Bachelors degree in Computing and an MCSE. I worked in the IT field in the LA area for 10 years putting in 20hr days and logging 300 freeway miles a day for ungreatful, spoiled, corporate types. In 1998 I had enough so decided to have a nervous breakdown @_@ .

Then a funny thing happened LOL this 30 year old burned out Agnostic found work in the oddest of places A Christian school. I now teach K-8
computer studies. This year I added a new elective, "Classic Gaming". I'm having a blast and reliving my youth 8-)

My name is Eric, I am 31 years old and I live in Quebec City. I have been collecting videogames for about 5 years now, even though I sorta took a break for the last two years, now I am back into it. :D

My first videogame was an Atari 2600, back in 1982. My and my brother got that as a Christmas present and we just played the crap out of Keystone Kapers and Decathlon. Those were fun times... we went on and got a NES and C=64. Ahh...being young again! 8-)

Favorite games? Well, I am more of a Fighting/Racing/Sports gamer. I have to say SoulCalibur (DC) and the Virtua Figther series are among my favorites. Arcade wise, my favorites are Battlezone and Bubble Bobble. Favorite system? I have to say the Saturn... with the Vectrex as a runner-up.

I'm collecting 3DO/Saturn/PSX/DC and some NES stuff. I've got a small collection (used to be a good one but had to sell a huge chunk of it away...and boy, do I regret that! hehe @_@ ) . What got me into collection is when one of my exes gave me an Atari 2600 Jr with 10 carts that her grandmother had... while doing some research, I discovered videogame collecting and that was it! I was hooked LOL
