I've been trolling the Digital Press site for a while now, but decided it's time to step in....

- Who you are
I'm Dean Dragoli in real life, dragsy on eBay, and D-Lite on several other sites.

- Where you live
Bay Area, California, just south of San Francisco. Originally from southeastern Connecticut and still have family over there

- How you found the forums
Joe is a Turbo-List member and saw some links to his site through that list about 2-3 years ago

- What your favorite games are
Well, don't really need to list all of them, but the Zelda series is slick, and I have a soft spot for anything Bonk related

- What systems you collect for
Big Turbo Grafx guy here and all a Neo Geo Pocket kinda guy. Lots of other Neo Geo stuff too! I'm actually the NGPC mod over at Neo-Geo.com as well

- What you do in "real life"
I'm a synthetic organic chemist at a biotech company. About 75% of my time is at the hood doing chemical reactions. the other 25% is at my desk, of which about 50% of that time is checking the forums (!)

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Like most people here probably, played lots of games in the 80's during the boom. Got out of it for about 7-10 years and got back in during the eBay era which made buying back all my old Turbo stuff easy!
I do lots of Turbo Grafx/Duo modifications, so that is a bit of my tech freak side too.

Hello I usually go by my initials MS3 , I'm 24 and live in Ca. I rent out a room right across from a dairy so the cows are mooing as I type. Right now I have a job changing tires which is pretty easy and pays well. I play my SNES most of the time since I got the most games for it. Been trying to beat the last boss on Demons Crest which is tough. Have a sega, satun, n64 , Turbografx 16, neo geo pocket, gba, atari 2600, cdx and a xbox. Finally collected all the megaman games for snes. Looking for a hood for my car a 66 dodge polara since the one I have flew off on the freeway and got ran over (didn't do that the owner before me didn't have the hood secured) Well have a nice day.

Hi!
I am Nicola, student, 23, from Italy. I collect everything I am able to find away from ebay (ebay looks like cheating my collection). Started playing on a c64, owner of 1600 single games from various format (expecially mega drive). I hate almost all japanese imports. My favorite games are: Frontier, Super Mario World, GTA vice city, all Mario Karts, Link's awakening...
When I was young I usually destroyed all the boxes of my games. Destroyed a pong for fun. One day one of my friend suddenly vomited on my snes (USA version) while playing mario kart with me.

Hi I'm Eli, 35 years old and I live in San Jose, Ca. I found out about this web site after attending CGExpo a few years ago. So yeah I've been lurking around for quite a bit!

My favorite games are Chopper Command (atari 2600), Raiden Project (PS1), R-Type (TG16), Mario Cart (SNES, N64, GC), Castle of Illusion (Genesis), Space Dungeon (atari 5200), House of the Dead 2 (Dreamcast),
Rygar (Lynx, arcade), Robotron (arcade), Tron (arcade), Phoenix (arcade), ...

I collect for Atari 2600, 5200, Lynx, Jaguar, Intellivision, Colecovision, NES, Gameboy, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Turbo Grafx 16, Sega Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Neo Geo Pocket. I also own a Vectrex but since I bought the multi-cart I don't actively collect for it. Also have a Game Gear and a couple of games but again I don't actively collect games for it.

In "real life" I work in the Semi Conductor industry. Very boring!

I had an Atari 2600 in the early 80's and loved it. I even bought the Supercharger when it first came out! I got Communist Mutants from Space for the Supercharger and couldn't stop playing it! Soon after, my neighbor got a Colecovision and I fell in love with it! But money was tight and I couldn't afford to keep buying games. So I sold my Atari 2600 thinking I was going to upgrade to the Colecovision but it never happened.

I was not living in Silicon Valley at that time (I was living in a small town outside of Modesto, CA) so it was fairly easy to move on with life and forget about home consoles. I did continue to play the arcade games at the local pizza parlors though but would not own a console system again until someone bought me a SNES during the 16 bit wars. Slowly but surely I started to get into collecting. Now it seems I'm collecting for just about every system out!

Oh well I'm enjoying every minute of it! :D

- Who you are: Matt
- Where you live: Maine
- How you found the forums: AdamG works at my local Gamestop and told me about it. :)
- What your favorite games are: Super Mario 64, Resident Evil, Castlevania 3, Super Mario Bros. 3, Doom II, Adventure, Space Invaders, Frogger, Mega Bomberman, Gunstar Heroes
- What systems do you own: Atari 2600, Odyssey2, NES, Master System, TG-16, Genesis w/ 32X, SNES, Game Gear, Saturn, N64, Game.com, Dreamcast, PS2, Game Boy Advance, Gamecube, Xbox
- What you do in "real life": trainer and cashier at a grocery store
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: I have played video games since very early on in my life. In fact I remember playing Flash Gordon, Riddle of the Sphinx and Spiderman on my uncle's Atari 2600 when I was about 3 years old. My love for video games never faltered as I grew older. I know have a 1000+ game collection spanning 20 different systems. I'm currently trying to get all US released NES games and I have over 500 right now, which means I've got another 150 - 175 to go.

Greetings from the Hoosier state! My name is Danny, and I'm from a small town in southeastern Indiana. Born and raised here... and still living here actually.

I was born in March of 1979, and unlike most people here (I'm assuming), I didn't grow up with an Atari 2600. When I was 3, my dad purchased an Intellivision, and my brother and I played the crap out of it... so much to the point that dad had to hide the system every once in awhile so we'd go out and play. Hardcore from birth we were. LOL
So hardcore, in fact, that at the age of 4, I posted a score of over 500,000 points in Happy Trails (Activision game) for the Intellivision. Those of you who aren't aware of that game won't understand the big deal, but that's ok... I'm certainly proud of it. To this day, my older cousin tells me that was one of the most unbelievable sights he's ever seen... a 4 year old beating the crap out of Happy Trails. :D

Ok, I'm sorry. Enough bragging.
I've always been a hardcore gamer. Was playing arcade games at the age of 3 (Dad had to hold me up so I could see the screen). Started home gaming with the Intellivision, then Atari 5200 (Yes, my gaming career started on the two consoles with the worst controllers ever), NES, Super NES, Game Boy, N64, PSOne, Dreamcast, PS2, GBA, Xbox, and GameCube. After the Intellivision and Atari 5200 broke, dad threw them out, but we still had all the other consoles. My status as a classic game collector started a few years ago when I longed to relive childhood Intellivision memories, so I got on ebay and, over the course of a few months, purchased 4 Intellivision consoles and 88 Intellivision games. After that, I was hooked, I wanted to own everything! Luckily, I'd already built up a pretty good collection over the years, so I had a good start. Since the Intellivision buying spree, I've accumulated another Atari 5200 (with working controllers no less), an Atari 7800, all 3 Sega Genesis models, a Power Base Converter for Master System games, and looking forward to getting a Colecovision and Atari Jaguar... and anything else I can get my hands on.

My all time favorite games include:

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Intellivision
Metroid - NES
Pac-Man - arcade
Galaga - arcade
Super Metroid - SNES
Final Fantasy III/VI - SNES
Metroid Prime - GCN
Toejam & Earl - Genesis
Gran Turismo 3 - PS2
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - PSOne

My collection currently consists of nearly 1000 games, and can be seen in its entirety (updated regularly) at:
http://users.ign.com/collection/razuma

Well, that's me in a nutshell. Great to be among my own kind. :)

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I made a post in another thread, but was encouraged to make one here, so I'm gladly doing so. Every forum should have one of these threads, really.

- Who you are
My name's Justin, and I'm a couple o' weeks from 31. I go by JB Lars or JBLars (or even jblars) everywhere on the 'net.

- Where you live
I'm in DeKalb, IL now, but plan on moving closer to the city this summer. With any luck, I'll run into some of you nice people at the Midwest Classic this year.

- How you found the forums
Oh, who knows? DP's been in my bookmarks for years, I'm just now de-lurking.

- What your favorite games are
Off the top of my head, and in no particular order: H.E.R.O., River Raid, Krusty's Super Funhouse, Seaman, Skies of Arcadia, Crazy Taxi, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Tempest 2000/3000, REZ, SOCOM II.

- What systems you collect for
All of 'em. Bar none.

- What you do in "real life"
At the moment, not a thing. Anyone hiring? ;)

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I'm not even sure how I began collecting. I unearthed my old 2600 right around the time I got a blowout Jaguar at KB Toys. I lived in Norfolk, VA at the time, and through hanging out on RGVC's IRC channel, I met the illustrious AlanD, who's collection blew my little mind. (Seriously, check out his 'Room of Doom' pics, and then take my word that as incredible as those photos are, it's even MORE impressive in person.) I've been a garage sale/thrift store/flea market/clearance sale whore since then, and the rest is a blur.

I wanted a Commodore 64 as a kid, but got a CoCo 2 instead. Also, when the NES was in full swing, I still had a 2600. I didn't have a then-current console to call my very own until I bought a PlayStation in '98. So I'm chasing the opulent youth I never had. I also eat sweets before meals, stay up past my bedtime, and leave the refrigerator door open for minutes at a time.

I also collect CDs, comic books, superhero RPGs, really cheap guitars, and any other useless crap that catches my eye when I'm out looking to expand the game collection.

Hi my names Matt, and I'm a cartoonist (http://marine.strippers-corner.com/), and a raging heroin addict. I mean video games.

Been playing since I could fit a colecovision controller in my mouth at like age 2. I've beaten so many games its not funny, and wasted most of my childhood messing with games.

I like Rap Music, Insane Clown Posse, and Prince. Favorite movie: Pulp Fiction and if I could get quoted on one thing: 'It was like this when I found it, honest!'

And as for my favorite video games: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong Quest, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Final Fantasy Tactics, Zelda: OOT, Contra, Ganabre Goemon 1&2, Dig Dug, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, The Sims, and I've spent a great deal of time playing counter-strike.

I'm still trying to figure that one out myself!

Saturn and DC.
Saturn I have 170 games and counting. Just started on DC, have 6 at the moment.

I forgot to introduce myself earlier:

Hi, I'm Cesar, from Brazil. I live in Manaus, a city in the heart of the amazon forest, and I'm studying computer science. I'm just starting my collection. I'm a Sega fan (fan, not fanboy!) But I like many other companies too. (except Sony because their hardware isn't reliable)

I have a DC, a Saturn and a N64 and some games for them. Of course I have a PC too and some neat games to play on it. I have about 60 games, most of them boxed and mint. (not that important but I like to have them in these conditions).

I give my old systems (2600, SNES, PS) and games to some friends before I became interested in collecting. I kick myself since them...

Hey everybody -
I live in the sun-blasted desert, where I work in radio and play gigs with my surf band, The Sonars.

I was a big gamer as a kid, and got back into the hobby a few years ago.
I've been to the last 3 CGE's and I look forward to the next.

I really enjoy my Atari 7800, Colecovision, and Intellivision the most, as well as plenty of PS2.

I stay away from cute-mascot jumping games, especially those where you must kill others with your butt.
I love space games, anything where I get to fly a space ship and blow stuff up! I also dig RPG's, survival horror, and some puzzle games.

The classic games I'm best at: Berzerk, Sinistar, Bosconian, Tempest, Joust, and Gyruss.

I look forward to having some laughs!

Hi, My Name is Mike and I'm from Long Island New York. I came across this website last year when I decided to get started with a NES Collection. First off I'm really impressed with the way people act on this board and are quick to help each other out. Anyway, I've been collecting for a year now like I said and usually use EBAY and Gamestop and the occasional thrift to build my collection. At last count I'm up to about 260 games. Since I just started I'm sticking to American Games and Systems and mostly the ones I had growing up and sold off. Atari 2600, NES, Sega Master System, Genesis, Dreamcast, PS 1 and 2, All Gameboys, Virutal Boy, SNES, N64 and Gameboy all have a place of honor on my "Shelf Of Doom". I hope to get some more Atari Systems and Turbo Graphx 16 by the year is up as well as Sega CD, Game Gear and 32X. I'd also would love to come across someone who can tutor me in the ways of NEO GEO and maybe help me start a collection with that.

About Me: I'm a drummer in a Punk rock band called "The Clap" and I work at Costco (Pretty cheap games there). If I had a choice of jobs I'd definitly want to write music for games.

Why I collect: Mostly I started collecting cause when I was little my family wasn't to well off and when all my friends had NES I had an atari and then when I got a NES we really couldn't afford to many games. I think now that so many games are so cheap, I'm trying to compensate for my poor upbringing...jk...no matter how many games I had, I was happy, and no matter what I say, I mostly collect cause I love it, I love hunting for the games, and I love playing them when I can...I'm also very anal about things and the games give me something to fuse over...just try to move one of my NES carts out of Alphabetical order and I'll cut your hand off!

Hi everyone!

I am Joe, age 14, and I live in a town called Pleasantville (no kidding!!!)

One day, when I did a google search for some retro-gaming stores, I stubled apon these forums. I love this site and the forums are great!

As far as games go, I am a big RPGer. Most of my favorite RPGs are on my Super Nintendo. It just has so many awesome games. Super Mario RPG LotSS; Chrono Trigger; Earthbound; FF6; and others. Right now, I am playing through Mario RPG... again! I love it!!

Right now, I am working on my Super Famicom collection (imports). There are just so many games released for the Japanese market that werent released here. Also, in the near future, I think I will pick up a dreamcast for 15-20 bucks, get a boot disk, and play some imports.

As far as my real life, school takes up the majority of my time. I take the train to school every morning and home every night. This means 12-hour days. Then there is studying and homework. After that I play games, watch anime, read manga, or draw. My anime and manga collection easily beats out my games, but I love both equally.

I am looking foward to talking with everyone here!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! (Chinese New Year--Year of the Monkey)

i'm eldunko...from one of three places: Windsor, Oakville or the Ottawa Valley

i'm usually found roaming 3 boards: cgcc, atari-age and macaddict. I'm really into anything that's old and electronic related. If i see an abandoned MacSE sitting somewhere i'll usually take it home...even though I already have like 4 of them.

Because of that, my collection is rather scattered, often times i have no clue what i own and don't own. It's gonna be my summer project...organizing my mass of like a million genesis and TG-16's

Who you are

My name is Cindy, I'm a 18 year old computer tech student. I started out as a computer maniac and discovered the wondeful world of console gaming through emulation.

- Where you live
Canada, Quebec

- How you found the forums
Surfing around for information

- What your favorite games are
I didn't played enough games for console to have favorites, even if I still like my colecovision markman and regret my dead TI-99. So all my favorites are on computer, all the old classics like lemmings, incredible machine and keen.

- What systems you collect for
I acquired a SNES so I'll start there, but if I can grab other old system at my flea I'll probably expand my interrests, even if there are a lot of things to see on the SNES. I won't do full collections, I'm more of a gamer than a collector so I'm looking for playing value.

Hello everyone! I'm michael.

I've visited these boards all the time and finally decided to write. I've been collecting games for a while now. I learned of this site after receiving the Dp collector's guide 7 as a present.

I own around 800 games total, and I eventually hope to own every NES game released in america.

My favorite games of all time are Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Mega man 3, Breath of Fire 2, and Sonic 2. I'm definitely a die hard mega man and chrono fan, and my favorite system of all time is the SNES.

I'm very happy to meet everyone! :D

I guess its my turn

Well...my name is Armez and I live in soaking-wet Seattle. I just happened along on this fourm by accident...(surfing the web for disscusion boards) and I must say it's pretty big in here!

I'm 28 and I've been playing since 4 (cousin had a magnavox pong type system) I loved it so much he gave it to me when he got his 2600. Buy my true vice is NES. I thought I had it bad, but looking at some of the pictures in here of gamerooms...whoa! I don't have squat! My wife is gonna love seeing some of these pics.

My NES collection is growing slowly...about 360 carts and 87 sealed...a few 3rd-party controlers, stacks of boxes and manuals...I try not to ebay it to much...I like the hunt.

Besides the NES, I do have other systems. All three Genesis systems, (the third one is still unopened) and about 13 games...I would love to get more, both SNESs with 11 games, an Atari jr? (the smaller black one) with 8 games. GameGear w/ 5 games, Original Gameboy,Gameboy color,GBA and GBA sp with 6 games left...I always trade these games away...I don't know why?

I'm trying to get my hands on some more handheld systems! Anyone on here have a Nomad/Turbo express/NGP/or Wonderswan color...let me know.

In my off time *wink*, I work graveyard for a retail company stocking merchendise...and training to be a fireman. Take a guess at when I sleep...more important, how much sleep I get a day.

I've met some really nice people from these types of fourms, but I hope to someday get together with some from my neck of the woods and play some games with them...maybe do some trading...who knows.

Enough of all my blah, blah, blah,...thanks for reading, and I'll see ya later!

Sashanan
01-30-2004, 02:32 AM
I'm Sashanan, a 23 year old database programmer from the Netherlands, and one of those people lucky enough to have been raised on the Commodore 64. I'm an active forum member and contributor at GameFAQs, specializing in FAQs and reviews for the Commodore; always figured it's better to fill a gap and risk having a small audience than to write for Zelda or Final Fantasy and just repeat what a hundred others already wrote, and better.

I was referred to these forums by another GameFAQs member when I stumped them with a question about C64 music, one I hope I'll be able to get answered here (soon as I figure out the proper forum for it LOL ), but after that I believe I'll be lingering. This place already feels like home.

Quick gaming history: first touched a Commodore 64's joystick at age 3, back in 1983, when my father had bought one of the things. Initially could only play under supervision (first game I remember playing is either BurgerTime or Donkey Kong, can't figure out which memory is older), but from age 6 on or so I'd be allowed to play the thing in the attic on weekends, quickly finding my way around our tapes and later our disks. Around 7 or 8 I wrote my first crude BASIC experiments, compared to which Hello World is the height of programming creativity. Nonetheless, the baby steps I took in programming then earn me my rent today writing Visual Basic data applications.

In 1988 our family Commodore broke down, but obsessed as I was with another chance to play those games, I saved up for one of my own. After hoarding my pocket money like never before and receiving a little financial assistance from my dad when I came up short, I bought my own Commodore at the end of the summer of 1989. That one still works today although it's tucked away in a box somewhere right now, in favor of emulation that doesn't require me to get off my lazy behind and hook it up.

There's hundreds of games on the tapes and disks that "came with the Commodore" (at the young innocent age I had back then, I'd never even heard of software piracy and really thought you could just get games for free as long as you bought the computer), and so I've got many pleasant memories of good games, but a couple that stand out for me are Black Hawk, Gribbly's Day Out, Montezuma's Revenge and Spike's Peak. All (well, except the latter which gets pretty annoying at times) are games I still like to pick up and play, and I'm pleased to see I haven't gotten much worse at them with age.

These days I don't have as much time to play games as I'd like to, and spend much of it on PC and PlayStation RPGs, but the Commodore gamer in me is far from dead. I am convinced that, if I live to be 80, I'll still be playing Montezuma while my grandchildren run around with their virtual reality Unreal Tournament 2060 headsets.

Well, that about wraps me up. Good to be here, seems a nice place. *tips hat to retro gaming*

Hello, I'm Lance Gaddie from Kentucky. I'm 20 years old and I just starting collecting games for about 3 months or so. I had my orignal NES that I got when I was about 3, and I just said What the Hell, I'll buy some more games for it, and one thing lead to another and now I'm addicted. I have a measely 150 games now for the NES and a small random assortment for other systems ranging from the Atari 2600 to the GameCube.

I found this site by surfing the web one day for rarity lists, and I've been visiting ever since. I mainly try to collect for the NES but I buy anything that I can find that is relatively cheap, being a college student I don't have too much money. I don't really have a "real life" outside of my girlfriend, school, and videogames, I'm going to try to attend the Philly Classic in March and mybe the CGE but who know's.

I think this place is great, thanks for your time
Lance

Howdy all

*Im Steve and live in Fremont Ca...

*I got turned onto the forums by Dangerboy, when he linked me the PSOne Collection list, so im here to help with my knowledge and maybe score some cool games...and get edumacated in the land of games even more than i currently am

* Fav games..... I tend to play a lot i lke the Action/Adventure stuff, Platformers and FPS games, ive also got a thing for those quirky Japanese games that make it stateside... (Incredible Crisis or Mr. Mosquito Anyone?)

*I collect for the following systems.... PSOne, PS2, GCN, GB/GBC/GBA, XBox, DC, N64 and NeoGeo Pocket Color.... but i own a bunch more systems, they just arnt on the top of my collecting list...

*Real Life??? Well i worked for a Music Chain Company from fall of 98 up till mid Dec 03 when i shut down my 3rd store, im currently not working, and finishing up my last semester @ SJSU where i am graduating with degrees in History and Anthropology, and a Minor in American Studies, what i do beyond that, ive got no clue

* I've allways been a collector of sorts... but i really got started collecting PSOne games about 3 1/2 years ago as a way to release stress from the constant fighting with the then girlfriend...figured it was better to spend the money on games rather than her (even though she got me my PSX) before i just got lots of games and played a ton, but thats when the collecting really started

Hi Everyone
My name is Alan and I am born and raised in Florida. I have been into games since I was a little guy. It all started with my cousins Fairchild, which i was very envious of even at the age of 5. Then my dad bought an Atari 2600 when I was in like 3rd - 4th grade. It was his until I started wiping the floor with him in Combat and Home Run, then it became mine. I moved out of gaming in the mid 80's to baseball ( I played and was a batboy for the Orlando Twins) until I got a Vic 20 and then a Commodore 64. Played that religiously until I left gaming again in the early 90's (even though i had a Super Nintendo, I think I only owned Mario World, Mario Kart, and Madden 93. Lucky for me my wife plays games as well so when we got our own place I decided to set up a game room, and the rest is history.

I own quite a few old systems now, though I really focus on the new systems more. I collect games I wanted to play but was to poor for back in the day, and spend a lot of time with my Mame machine and the new systems.

My favorite games are Mario Kart, NCAA Football, Super Pac Man, Super Mario World, Video Pinball (I had that down to a science) and JUMPMAN for the Commodore 64, my all time favorite. I hunt for old games quite a bit and sell some on ebay. I love reading everybodys finds for the week posts and favorite games. Maybe know that I conquered lazyness I will post my own.

Hello, I'm Marty and I am a packrat.I lurked for years, have posted a little lately and because I have been trying to send so many people this way I thought I would introduce myself.I'm a collector more than a gamer.I love the hunt. The first games I ever got into were Legend of Zelda anb Super Mario Bros. when I was young.I loved the Mario Bros Arcade that I would play after school at a local hang out.
My biggest collection is my NES collection at about 300 games, but I love anything Sega more and anything less collected (RCA Studio, ODYSSEY and O2)I just recently hit the 1000 game mark across all collections.I love to find game related items, a sonic flag, a pac-man coffee cup, anything like that.
I just turned 31.I'm a Mom, my kids have been trained in the hunt and we can fan out and cover a garage sale or thrift store in minutes.
I like to play Sonic games, puzzle games, old arcade games (spyhunter, burgertime, donkeykong, etc.)
My rarest game is O2 powerlords.I have a stand-up afterburner, and would really like to get another stand up as soon as I can find one I can afford.
If your in or near Columbus, drop me a line.

Hi I'm Chris from Ontario. I grew up playing video games from the Intellevision up to the Super Nintendo. I lost interest in games around 94 or so, and just recently stuck my toe back in the water when I purchased a used Dreamcast system. Now I have to find games for the darn thing. They are typically cheap when I do find them, but, man, are they scarce up here.

I found this site when I googled info on top games per system. This place is an invaluable resource for gaming information, especially for uncommon games.

Hey there, Martin Bedard here, 22 year old from Saint-Lazare, Quebec, Canada. Known about Digital Press for a long time but never remembered to type it in when sitting in front of the keyboard LOL . Saw a post about you guys on Twin Galaxies so I went for it. I like all types of games from the classic arcade titles all the way up to the modern ones. All genres except sports, if I can play with a couple of friends that's fine but otherwise i'd rather die than play a WWF or foot/base/basket ball game by myself. Play it in real life I say.

I'm a collector without a budget, I like the idea of it and when I see something for really cheap on Ebay I tend to go for it but that's all.
I do have a fair amount of games though, it doesn't count though cause they're for playing not collecting :P . About 20 games for each nintendo system. I even have the Virtual Boy... woooo  . I'd like to branch out into other systems when I get rich and take over the world.

In real life I'm a University student who works part time at a pizza place. On the net i'm a regular at Twin Galaxies so feel free to ask about that or anything game related. I have a fair amount of world records so i'm pretty knowlegable in that department.

This is part introduction and part thank you.

I'm a senior in college who is scared of the real world so I decided to indulge in my childhood pleasures to give myself a bit of an escape. :) I lived with 2 PS2s, a PS1, a XBOX, a SNES, a NES and a Genesis last year (I had two male roomies, need I say more??) and it made me realize how much I missed my own consoles 2000 miles away at home. Now that all those wonderful boys graduated I live in a system-less house and I went stir crazy about three months ago. Back home, my N64 is in decent shape but my Genny is old and doesn't work to well so I decided to invest in a new one for my college apartment...

...which is where my thanks to you all comes in! I found this site from a google search last summer and since then you've guided me through buying a CDX and helped me keep myself from paying too much for some great games. So thanks!

I don't pretend to know a lot and my collection is a drop in the bucket comparably -- and I'll probably do some stupid things as I get used to posting on the forums. Sorry ahead of time. Nice to be here, though. :D

Forgot to introduce myself so here goes. I'm 20 and reside in Michigan. I enjoy gaming on any platform but my favorite platform (also the platform I am starting to collect for) is the Sega Genesis. My first system ever was a ColecoVision that my dad bought at a yard sale back in about '88. My sister and I played the heck out of that system. Our favorite games that we had were Pitfall! and for some reason Cabbage Patch Kids: Adventures in the Park. LOL I remember racing my sister from the bus stop all the way up the driveway, into the house and down into the basement to fire up the ColecoVision and take the first turn playing it. In 92' we finally made the jump to 16 bit systems with the Sega Genesis. I got it as a present for my 9th birthday. I never had very many games but remember playing a lot of different games that I rented. The few I owned were Sonic, Ms. Pacman, Ariel the Little Mermaid, Cool Spot, Aladdin, Toe Jam & Earl 2, Paperboy, and a few more. After 5 years and many hours of playing the Genesis, the R/F/ connector cord broke and I never bothered to get it fixed or replace it. Shortly thereafter, I sold it in a yard sale (wish I hadn't done that). About 2 months ago I was browsing eBay and thought I would check out game systems and came across the old Genesis platform for cheap. Long story short, I decided to start collecting for the Sega Genesis. Here is a list of what's in my collection so far:

Sega Genesis System 1 (Model MK-1601) w/ Original Instructions
2 Original Controllers
Original AC Adapter
Original RF Switch

Each game has it's original box with the original instructions:

American Gladiators
Animaniacs
Cool Spot
Liberty or Death
Ms. Pacman
Mutant League Hockey
Mystic Defender
NFL '95
NHL '96
Powermonger
Rocket Knight Adventures
Sonic Spinball
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition
Strider
Super Monaco GP
Tazmania
The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare
The Simpsons: Krusty's Super Fun House
The Simpsons: Virtual Bart
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Zoom!
Game Genie w/ Box, Inserts and Code Book

I've paid a little over $100 (including shipping) for it all.

Sorry for the long post, there's my story. :-P

I've been an on and off lurker on this site for some months now and i finally decided to join the forum :D

- How you found the forums

Hmm...I think it was a link on another forum reguarding the "Rooms of Doom" section on the site.

- What your favorite games are

Super Mario 3, Sonic and the Streets of Rage series. Probably some others i cannot think of at the moment.

- What systems you collect for

Genesis is my main system i collect for. I collect domestic and import games for this along with my Saturn.

The rest of my systems i collect for but not on the same level as with my Genesis and Saturn

- What you do in "real life"

I work at a game store 8-)

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I gave up console gaming around '94 and stuck to PC games for about 6 years. In 2000 i bought a used NES (the 2nd one i have owned) at a garage sale and my interest in console gaming started up again.

This is another great game related site for me to visit. Here are some facts about me:

Who you are

My name is Eric and I am currently 37 years old.

Where you live

A place called Arnold, Maryland. I live very close to Washington DC.

How you found the forums

There was a link to this site from www.twingalaxies.com and I followed it.

What your favorite games are

My favorite game type has always been strategy games. Currently I play quite a few RTS games on my PC.

What systems you collect for

Currently I only collect classic handheld/tabletop games from the 70's and 80's. I plan to also collect a few classic video game systems I never owned, but always wanted to.

What you do in "real life"

I work as a software engineer and raise my 3 kids with my wife.

Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc

There's nothing all that interesting in how I got into collecting games. Though I think I have lived an interesting life so far. There is nothing I currently wish to share here about my personal life. Maybe when I get to know some of the members here a bit better?

my name is luke, and i live in northwest ohio. there are surprisingly many outlets for used games here, and ive found them all(i think). ive been collecting since late 2000, and have amassed a ridiculous collection of games spanning 35 systems(over 2700 unique titles) and countless hundred label variations. i have kept track of the games from the beginning, and tracked the cost of each(so i know how much ive spent total). i remember when i went from casual gamer to collector.....

but my background first! when i was very young we had a 2600. i played the hell out of the 2600, as did my brother and parents. my favorite game then was demon attack, id play that for hours(i think game variation 8, where the projectile moves with the ship), but also played frogger, pacman - the usuals. in about 1985 my best friend got an NES system for xmas...who didnt? me thats who. the folks didnt have a lot of expendable income to drop on video games, so i was told to go play my atari. they claimed the NES would take up homeowrk time too. long story short, i was the only kid i knew without an NES and i would stay up til 4 am on nights i stayed over at their houses playing excitebike, battletoads and the like.

my bro bought a SNES when he was a senior in high school, and i bought some games for that, but wasnt more than a casual gamer. then one day i brought out my old atari to play, and ended up convincing some friends to let me 'borrow' their favorite 2600 games. still a casual gamer, but a resourceful one. this is how it started..slowly. one day i was walking around one of the local goodwills(referred to from here as 'the wheel') and spied 30 NES games for $1 each. i didnt have an NES system so i coudlnt play them, but damned if i didnt buy all 30 of em. that was when i consider myself to have become a collector. i coudlnt play these games, but bought them to have. to look at. maybe it was me striking back(ask jung, freud or joyce brothers or someone) at the oppressive parents, or maybe it was just the same thing that makes us all do what we do. so then i found a blinky as heck NES system and thought that was great and it spiraled from there.

Incidentally, the majority of the 30 games i bought at the wheel were adorned with the name 'PENNY YBARRA'. i still ahve many of those games. its like they have sentimental value or something. i dont know if i should hate ms. ybarra or thank her...
i guess shes responsible for starting it all...

so heres a terrible story for all of you. maybe youll learn a lesson or something. in my very early days of collecting(post 30 NES purchase, pre any other purchase) i went into a junk shop in a less than desirable part of town. all along the one wall were 2600 games. i, knowing nothing of rarity or that anyone else in the world cared about 2600, gazed along the commavid games and various other atari and xonox games and said 'man, ive never even heard of any of these games'... and the now horrible sounding "$5 each for atari games?!?"..those games were probably worth hundreds, though i only remember a few titles...so 2 weeks later the junk shop closes and has an auction and i thought it was the next week and drove by 2 hours after it started and saw it was this week and it was now over so i missed all of these games that were fantastic. i could have a rocking atari collection but i was stupid and sdidnt pay attention. oh well these things happen i learn my lesson! right?

fast forward about 2 years and im walking through the local savers(another junk store chain). my girlfriend spies something that looks a lot like a power pad, but its orange. she says "is that for nintendo?" and i, being a cocky i-know-everything-video-game-related-because-IM-a-collector say "nope" ....
so someone else got the family fun fitness pad. i did learn my lesson that time. now i look no matter what and have educated myself and continue to search out new information.

if anyone sees me refer to my girlfriend as a 'girlfiend', that is a term of endearment.

girlfiend, N. a female campanion that sometimes complains about the time and money invested in games and playing, then, after you convince her that she might like playing, usurps control of your system for (most commonly) a puzzle game.

"id really like to play the gamecube today, but my girlfiend has been playing EGGMANIA for most of the afternoon" but i will say eggmania is kinda fun...

i dont like buying off of ebay because most of the stuff i have bought from ebay comes in less than stated condition, and its no fun. some of the rare stuff you have to buy from ebay i understand, but anyone with a bunch of money could have a complete NES set in about 2 weeks. i enjoy finding the rare stuff at junk stores or mispriced at used games stores. i dont buy sealed items unless its to sell them because, though i hardly ever take the time to play my games, what if i really wanted to play the sealed game? then id have to open it and i can get much more for a sealed copy than an opened copy. not that i sell any game i dont have 2 of anyways.

my collection fills the larger of the two bedrooms in my house, and i am beginning to realize my collection neednt be as complete as i once believed. ive also ammased a bunch of doubles from garage sale buying (systems games, etc.) that ebay is going to see as soon as i find the time to test everything. with that money i should be able to complete my NES collection(63 games), virtual boy collection(2 games) and maybe ill spend the money to complete master system(42 games) and microvision(5 games).

someday i might get organized and try to submit photos of the game room for all to see.

oh yeah, im 25 years old. and found this site by looking for rarity guides. i printed those off to track the systems and games i dont have yet and checked in for about a year before registering.

i wonder how many have read this through start to finish? sorry for the long post, i dont know anyone else who collects, so you all are my only audience!

Hey, I'm Josh. I'm from Portland, OR. As for my age, since I'm not going to be updating this post any longer, I'll just say I was born on September 24th, 1982 and let you do the math.

I found Digital Press in February 2004 while looking for a Super Nintendo rarity list.

I'm more of a gamer than a collector, but I still have over 750 games in my collection, including over 160 SNES games and over 120 NES games.

A list of video games and systems I own can be found by clicking the "Game Collection" link in my signature. There's also a link to my CD collection (mostly hard rock, classic rock, and metal) if you're really bored. LOL

In no particular order, here's my favorite games for each system I've played:

Atari 2600: Pitfall!
NES: Super Mario Bros. 3
Super NES: Super Metroid
Genesis: Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Sega CD: Sonic CD
Game Gear: Sonic Chaos
Atari Jaguar: Tempest 2000
Virtual Boy: Wario Land
Nintendo 64: Mario Kart 64
PlayStation: Gran Turismo 2
PlayStation 2: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Gamecube: Super Smash Bros. Melee
Game Boy: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
Game Boy Color: R-Type DX
Game Boy Advance: Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow
Nintendo DS: New Super Mario Bros.
Wii: Wii Sports

I am obsessed with video games. I don't want everything, just stuff I know I'd enjoy, making me more of a gamer than a collector. But there's a lot of games I'd enjoy, which means I'm going to have one hell of a collection. LOL Living in Portland, OR, there's a good selection of stores out here that focus on new and old systems alike.

So there you go. Keep on gaming! :)

Hello, i'm Darren from Stevenage in Hertfordshire UK.

Video games have been a way of life for me for many years now. Starting back with the Spectrum 48k and progressing through to the Xbox now.

Like many fools i've sold to upgrade many times during my youth and am only now trying to grab back what i lost through my teeenage youth.

I'm not a mad collector, i like building my collections but i'm not one for spening into the £100's for a game.

I discovered this site due to the rarity lists, which i was looking for as a way to catalogue and gauge my current collection.

Hope to speak to many of you soon.

Cheers, Darren.

I'm Stephen from Toronto. I've been playing games for over 20 years and have been collecting for over 10. I collect pretty much everything console related, but I also play a lot of recent stuff for consoles and PC too.

I'm buying a bigger house soon and hope to get into Arcade cab collecting (I only have an Asteroids machine right now).

Hello there.

Dan here. I'm around 27ish and have been playing since 1979.
Around the middle of last year I started a site dedicated to the NES called aptly enough.... PlanetNES.

As far as what I'm into... if it's a video game that's not on a PS2 or Xbox, it's open season. I collect EVRYTHING video game related.

Anyway, I've been coming to digitpress for awhile now and thought I'd join up with the forum finally.
Thanks for taking time to listen to me drivel.

I'm joe ratulowski and currently live in Atlanta, GA by way of Western New York. Came across these forums shortly after discovering the DP site. Just googled for "classic gaming" and there it was.

I have small to middling collections for quite a few systems, but have just recently decided to concentrate on handheld, cartridge based systems. With my recent acquisition of a Microvision I am now only missing a turboExpress and a GameGear. Now I can truly begin to accumulate some games for all these systems.

Used to work as a systems admin, and a bench tech for a while, but found I disliked the work. So, now i'm management at a national home improvement store. Not sure which I prefer. If only I could find a job working on printers.

I'm Graham Mitchell. I'm originally from Seattle,WA, but I'm now in medical school in North Chicago IL (which is actually not Chicago, it's the middle of nowhere.) I'm 25 years old, and I live with my fiancee. Besides gaming, I have a fierce passion for rock music, in all its forms.

I must have started gaming back in around 1986 or '87. I was a bit too young for the '2600, so my first machine was a NES. As the years went on, I bought so many more consoles that I can't even count them. I have owned such machines as a TurboExpress, a Sega Saturn, a Sega Master System, Sega CD, 32X,Turbografx CD-Rom basically all the 16-bit garbage that came out...they all had gems though, and they were worth owning for those rare finds.

I've played 'em all since then, but nothing beats the 8- and 16-bit consoles for me personally. I have a sharp interest in more off-beat and obscure games. I also believe that video games are a viable artistic medium, and have a great appreciation for games that exhibit that fact.

I don't have time to play much anymore, but I read a lot, and hope to meet other people interested in the underappreciated classics of this unquittable habit.

Cheers, Graham Mitchell.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

How I began collecting...well, I got into roms to pass time at work, then I remembered a classic game from childhood and found it at the flea market - Stinger for NES - also grabbed up some other .50 games I found. SMB3, SMB2, Final Fantasy, Double Dragon 2. Got home and realized that I remember when I used to have a lot of games for NES (about 50-75) and I figured I'd start up a collection of them again. Now my collection in total is about 1700 games and over 500 is NES alone. Still not reaching some of the heavy hitters here like Joe or Achika but oh well...im happy! Hope to reach 2000 by mid-year.

uberhuge CV fan.

*high-five*

I'm Jimmy. I'm 23 and I live in Kansas...stumbled across this forum from a search engine, so I thought it looked like a cool place to join.

I listen to metal to a fault (especially black metal the past few years), and I sort of reintroduced myself to classic games recently, having dusted off the Genesis and repurchasing an NES. My favorite game ever is most likely Contra, and if you couldn't tell already, I'm becoming a big Castlevania fan, though I currently own only 7 CV games.

Hello my name is David, I'm 15 years old and I live in the USA(in AZ). I've been playing games for about 10 years (I got hooked on gaming from playing the NES,Genesis and Gameboy), and I've been addicted to games since I first played Super Mario Brothers. My current obsession(sp?) at the moment is finding a mint/complete Japanese Saturn from the 1994 launch date before Summer starts. Wish me luck! :p

I started collecting games about 5 years ago when my friend sold me his Genesis with 4 controllers and about 15 games. After that I had to buy more and more Genesis carts, then I bought a Saturn, then Dreamcast then Intellivision...and I've been collecting ever since.

I currently own around 17 systems (not counting doubles), from Intellivision to Xbox. And I like all genres of games.

My hobbys are: Videogames(playing/collecting), Watching Anime, Drawing Anime stuff, Programming homebrew games for the Dreamcast(though they all suck lol), as well as some other un important stuff...

Favorite games...

1.Shenmue 1
2.Goldeneye
3.Super Mario Brothers 3
4.Sonic 2
5.Final Fantasy VII
6.Twisted Metal 2
7.Final Fantasy VIII
8.Streets of Rage 2
9.NiGHTS:Into Dreams
10.Donkey Kong Country 2

Just to name a few :)

Favorite systems...

1.Dreamcast/Saturn tie
2.Nintendo 64
3.Genesis
4.NES
5.SNES
6.PS1

Forget that I like em all!

Anyway I hope that covers everything, I plan to post a lot on this site as it has lots of true gamers to chat with and interesting topics to read. Well, I think I'll probably go to bed now...cya later everyone! :)
