A brand new 60GB PS3 for only $1000. I know that the 60s are nice, but $1000?

Sounds like someone purchased a PS3 a few years ago at a high price expecting it would hold, or forgot about it in the closet. Maybe they wish it was unloaded earlier instead of being out so much monies? Or are they just crazy?

I'm tempted to make him a best offer of $5 to see if he gets the point. Furthermore, what is people's infatuation with selling open boxed items as "never been used"? Why would you open it if you weren't going to use it? In other words---bull shit!!

in that condition with the bonus sealed nes game maybe 70-85 would be about what id pay, though id expect to see it up on ebay with a $100 BIN plus shipping. Fact of the matter is I'm not nearly as impressed by and open "never used" system as I am a sealed system, and sealed systems aren't really worth it for me as i generally buy systems to expand my library possibilities. This is why ebay has such high listing fees, to teach this guy a lesson in evaluating the price of his stuff lol.

Umm didn't Nintendo sell a lot of systems w/o a factory seal? I know I had almost all of the N64 funtastic systems NIB and none had seals, NIB N64 gold TRU edition no seal. 2nd gen SNES new no seal. Sega didn't have seals either. Same for my Neo-Geo AES. One that does have seal was Pikachu N64, and DK N64. I do believe most systems don't have seals to cut open, so they can be opened, but still be NIB.
BTW my N64 gold NIB sold for $300+ 2 years ago, so people do pay big money for NIB.

Not sure where you got your N64's but I worked at Toy's R Us back then and they ALL were sealed. Pretty much all systems have been sealed since the 32bit era in the US (Japan, not so much). I know that the Nes Toploader came out around the time that the Snes was already out. While I can't say for certain, I'm pretty sure I've seen sealed ones on ebay before.

Not calling you out, but I do have proof of my Gold system that is unsealed but NIB. Damn shame that box was in rough shape, but I never came across another Gold system NIB. And as far as the Funtastic systems they were not sealed either. N64 Star wars limited edition, Pikachu, DK jungle pack, were all sealed though. I checked and my Gamecube, Wii, Dreamcast, Genesis all versions, CDX, were not sealed. I could go on, but the majority of systems were not factory sealed from what I own.

I actually like when people call me out but I know what you mean. Anyway, my Gamecube, PS1, PS2, Xbox(was) and Dreamcast are all sealed, but my Saturn(got it used) isn't and neither was my JVC X-Eye. And just so we're on the same page, by sealed I mean a they have a security sticker seal on atleast one side of the console box.

"Modded xbox 360 elite controller with rapid fire on both triggers $130 (note brand new controller modded.)"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to open something up to mod it and then test it to make sure it works? So not only is this not new, but it's a completely overpriced piece of junk that he hopes xbox live cheaters will buy.

Ah, well I'm late to the CL bashing. Hope nobody minds if I copy-and-paste some observations I've made in a previous post, having only been using it for about six months.
Around here the CL ads are comprised mostly of one of three basic types of sellers:
1. Can't afford the truck payment this month so he's trying to sell his used PS3 and/or games for original retail price.
2. Can't afford the rent payment this month so he's trying to sell his used PS2 and/or games for original retail price.
3. 14 years old, wants a DS. Mom won't pony up the dough and he's too lazy to mow lawns. Selling his Gameboy Color with two loose Pokemon carts (one without a label) for $50. Alternately, it's an N64 (1 controller) with a nasty stack of EA Sports and WWF titles for $80 .
And in any of the above cases, nobody ever lets little things like spelling or grammar get in the way of a pitch: "ok i have a old skewl nintedno i want a wii and ill trade u b/c this is like the first 1 and u can prolly sell it for big $ on teh ebay lol"
Funniest one I've seen so far locally was a guy selling his Genesis collection for $800 :?. A Model 2 with CD and 32X, approximately 60 games (nothing rare) and a bunch of third party controllers. The ad kept going on about he paid over $2000 for all of it brand new (the 90's are over old man...it's called "depreciation") so $800 was a veritable steal. After a month or so of listening to the crickets he modified the ad to specify that he'd also trade straight across for a set of replacement axles for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Aha, I thought, now we're getting to the heart of the matter...Don't know if he ever got it or not.

I love when you search for something like Atari and you see a good 20 listings "Atari with 20 games, $30!" "Atari with 40 games, $40!", and then there is that one listing "Atari with 5 games, $150. No hookups, untested"
And that person keeps re-listing every few weeks...
On the bright side, I picked up a Shock Troopers NEO-GEO MVS cartridge in excellent condition for $35 yesterday off of CL.
The problem I have with CL is I don't have enough money for all the stuff on it. There's a $100 NEO-GEO arcade cabinet right now (broken, but I can probably fix) that I really want, but don't have the space for in my apartment.
For some reason people are always selling off giant game collections in the area, and the great part about it is there are a couple shops in the area that buy those, split them up, and charge pretty reasonable prices for the individual games and systems.

I think the funniest CL game post I saw was one back in 03/04 where a guy was selling a saturn and said "power cord's kinda broken, if you wiggle it around every other minute or so while playing it won't shut off"

You know, if all of us bonded together we could combat this. For instance, everytime I see a stand alone Wii listed for anything more than $250 I flag it and thus it won't sell. Same thing for Wii Fits that are over $90. These people will NEVER learn if we don't get up and take a stand against them. I think people do that in my city because I was trying to sell my used one for the longest time with a shit ton of stuff for $500 (it was a good deal considering the amount of extras) and it kept getting flagged for removal. Sometimes it would only last an hour. So I changed my strategy and it sold. I think people weren't reading the description and just flagging.

Yeah that pisses me off actually. Who cares if someone is trying to make money on a Wii? People that flag them are just making them that much harder to find, thus driving up the price. Brilliant!

I'm not sure harassment is any less rude than hanging up on someone, but whatever.
He's not being rude by simply calling and informing her of correct information. As long as he didn't yell, make any threats or call more than twice--there is no form of harrassment.

True, it depends how he went about it. I had assumed it was a "you're so stupid for trying to make money" call, but that might not be the case. My bad.

I called and said: Hi, I was calling about the Wii Fit, does it come with the Wii...? No well do you know its $90 in the store. She hung up on me and then I called her back asking why she was being rude to hang up. I told her its $90 in stores and I was calling to tell her that. Then she hung up again.

While overpriced, at least it is really damn cool and in great condition. Well, it is to me anyway. I'd give him 30 for it at least.

I don't know whats worse in this thread, the idiots selling stuff for way out of the park prices, or the idiot trolls going around harrassing people, VERY tough call.
