I haven't been going on CL for awhile, mainly b/c I'm broke and have no money to buy anything, but I finally did today and found a few beauties. But I'd like to start it off in a different way, this one is actually someone on GTZ, and if posting this isn't cool, then please just snip this whole top section.

Anyway... http://gametz.com/user/585adam14.html <--- This guy is seriously bent out of shape because he thinks someone should want to trade a Wii for his PSP 1000! And gets mad when people cancel his trades b/c he doesn't say that it's a 1000. Furthermore, he's mad b/c people tell him it doesn't come with a box. Well, if you check his games link IT SAYS IT COMES WITH A BOX!!! Seriously... what the fuck?

Moving on to CL: http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/ele/1358951109.html

Here's a doozy for a modded Xbox:

http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/tag/1359551119.html

Excerpt:

.i would like to give it away because
we havent used it in about a year.the only time
we do is to watch a dvd in another room

so i am selling this item for 260.oo
because it comes with: the games, 3 controllers,
the cords..and fun...

Shucks, I'd really like to just let you have this for free, because it's so much fun, even though we ourselves don't ever play any of the games on it. So I'm sorry but I have to sell it for $260.00 because it has the games, you see?

...and if you would like to throw
in a confortable place to sit(ottoman) i will thro that in there
for $60....

Wait a minute....are you throwing in the Ottoman or are you asking me to provide you with one in exchange for the Xbox?

I AM NIGOTIABLE SO DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK
QUESTIONS!!

...wait for it...

please do not contact me asking like 50 questions
its either you want the xbox or not..

Ah, but questions abound in ad as loopy as this one, even if your mind isn't seemingly up to the task of presenting or processing coherent information.

Holy cow, our forumers aren't kidding when they talk about DC piracy. "Video gaming will never be the same." Indeed.

My sob story:

Was chasing around a few deals locally on camera lenses, got some mixed up. So after a week of barely missing meeting with this lady, I finally get there, and she's all like $170!

I'm all like oh :C

I thought it was $70 :D

She lowered the price to $130 on the spot...stupid me, I forgot to actually look at which versions of the lenses they were. $130 is probably about the limit of what it's worth though. $70 would have been a good deal. I'll probably just tell her to try re-listing to see if she gets any takers at $130, 'cuz somebody else might be able to use that film camera in which case I won't mind.

This is the $200.00 modded Xbox loaded with pirated games (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1612206&postcount=1657) I posted about a couple of days ago. Shocking that it's still up for grabs , as well as the ottoman, apparently. Oh, but now we have new details about the proposed furniture:

i will throw in an ottoman
i am trying to sell for 70 more dollors..almost brand new.bout a year old
has a cupl brown marks from when my dog layed on it...

Yep, there's nothing quite as dignified as playing bootlegged games on obsolete hardware whilst sitting in a dog's wet spot.

Painful... reminds me of a dude here that would constantly post two SNES sports games for $10 each (I believe it was NHL 95, and NHLPA Hockey). At least every 3 days. He finally caved, and was offering the deal of $15 for both. That one was every 3 days for a while too. I don't know whatever happened in the end.

As for the wife giving away a PS3, those kinds of ads usually turn out to be spam/scam B.S. just designed to get your email or have you call some recorded message. Even when they ARE legit, you don't get anything. The person is just using CL to make a point or whatever. It's like one dumb bitch of a mother is constantly posting "My son didn't do his homework (or whatever) and now I'm giving away his PS3/Wii/360/penis/whatever" but when you call, no penis! It's just "listen, you hear that, these people are going to take your penis if you don't do what I say!" Well fuck that. If you're not actually giving away penis, don't place the damn ad!

Another champion listing. I don't even know if they want to buy or sell. Probably sell, though, because you can't do anything with a broken compact camera.

I also contacted some people who had "accepting the highest offer" on their listing, but they emailed me back saying they expected 10x more than my offer. Without actually listing the details what was on sale. Hum de do.

Update: Hooray, they took it to a photographer friend and he said to sell it for $20 more than my offer. So they want to meet me halfway. Joyous day!

"Price my very depending condition" If this were to be translated into English only dependent on punctuation and not changing spelling of any words, it would mean "Please help me price my condition, that is very depending." To which you would ask "do you mean it's very dependable or that it's very dependant upon you?" And thus confuse the person greatly.

Ha! Look at this....

http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/vgm/1372512476.html

SNES, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the Mini version. The Mini version is a later version and is a lot less
clunky, taking up less space than the original. This is the real MIni version, not a knock-off. Rare and hard to find.
This one is in very good condition. Comes with 1 controller, 1 Super rare ASCII controller, and
Super Mario World.
The ASCII controller has a very nice turbo, and slow motion. Great when fighting hard to defeat bosses

http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/vgm/1364386737.html

Hey. I am selling my shaman who has been my main for all of WotLK because i am officially quitting WoW to focus more on school.

About the character:
-Male Troll Shaman
-PVP server(transfer up)
-Horde

Key Features:
He has 2350 healing weapon, 4/5 Furious & 1 deadly main pieces, full furious off-pieces.
Also has full Deadly Elemental(crit) PVP gear.
He has 450 JC/450 Alch as well with many recipes.(useful for making money)

With arena gear on:
22.5k HP
16k mana
854 resil
2625 Bonus Healing
or you can switch out the spell power trinket for a resil one for 962 resilience and 2514 spell power.
This is basically the best gear you are gonna find for any resto shaman out there...

Other features on the account:
70 Priest(this used to be my main, but never leveled it after i started playing my shaman)
75 Rogue
2 19 twinks(hunter and druid)

With the recent buffs to shaman and the gear that I have gotten for this character, I feel that $600 or best offer is fair.
Again, I am quitting WoW and will not be able to play anymore, but do not want my time go to waste.
SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. Local only(missouri)-CASH. I will meet you and log on with the character and transfer all information over in person on my laptop.
The only way to make sure that neither of us get screwed is to meet in person, and that is the only way that I will do this.
If you have any questions, email me back through here.

I don't care how much time a WoW charactar or whatever takes to accumulate these credentials, I am not going to pay $600 for something unless I can physically hold it.

The Asciipads aren't "super rare" but are rather nice controllers nonetheless. They generally go for $10-20 on ebay depending on condition.

Crap, I've chucked a ton of those in system bundles in the past just to unload them, thinking they were as worthless as most other 3rd party controllers. Well, at least now I know.

Well if it is anything but a SEGA Genesis Model 1 or 2, which it most likely is, it is definitely worth it. I'd guess it would be a Genesis since they were more common. Would be weird if it turned out to be a Nomad or SEGA CDX...

Well we all know that rarity is relative to the sellers personal experience with said item. In other words, if the seller's never seen it in their life, either has anyone else so it must be rare. ;)

I have all the Reg. Codes and well as a security token, not attached to a Square Enix account. LOCAL DEALS ONLY

he wants $75 for a 2600 (no power supply) and 21 common games. he says he researched on amazon and it would cost $132 to buy it separate through them. he also warns us not to email him and tell him how we can get it cheaper, which pretty much shows he is very aware that he is trying to rip someone off. what a dick.

And how do we 'take care of this'? Going about trying to stop this kind of stuff isn't going to happen. The companies can't stop it, what makes you think we can?

he responds pretty quickly with this...

ya can i call you about what time i can get it and a price depending on condition. my number is 308 258 7774

seriously... "price depending on condition"? is he really going to show up and try to haggle a $35 NWC cart down even further?

i almost feel bad messing with him. i don't think i'm going to email him again. by the way, i included his number because i'm pretty sure he lists it in his ad, anyway.

If anyone wants to spend $550 on a Nes, SNES, N64, PS1, and a Xbox 360, heres your guy.

Or if thats too much you can buy just the Nes, snes, N64, and ps1 systems for $400.

I remember some people said in another thread that they'd haggle anything down as much as they could no matter what it was. I think it would be stupid to try and haggle down anything rare and already cheap as you could lose out on it, but I guess it works for some people.

Just email back and say you might go as low as $30, but nothing less as it's a gold cartridge so it's a bit more special than games in regular cases. After a few more emails you could say that you just thought to check out how much they usually sell for(to make sure you weren't ripping him off) and you found out it was worth way more, so you'd change your mind about selling it. That should be fun to do. LOL

It's clearly a Dreamcast(it even says it on the lid) yet it's listed as a Genesis(they misspelled it). They mention it comes with 2 games, but didn't bother to list them or include a picture, though they did include 2 pictures of the same system. I also edited out their address as they listed it in the ad. Plus the asking price is insane, and where did they get that date from? Neither the Genesis or Dreamcast were released in 1995.

Another one that hurts my brain. Someone selling 2 Game Gear systems, $100 each or $240 for both of them. I have no idea why it's more expensive to buy them together. I'll just quote a bit from it since it's really long and most of it seems to be from wikipedia. I am familiar with the Video Time that they're mentioning, it's a really overpriced store that has a very good selection of games(it's too overpriced).

Sega Game Gear Portable System Origanal!!!!!(Collectors)(Mint)
Price $240.00

As you can see they are almost in mint condiiton. Ebay.com and Amazon.com are selling these for 299.00 Each. I checked collectors now! 240.00 for both or 100.00 for each!!!!!!! These will go very fast Video Time wants them but I thought I would give them to the customers at a lower price! Here is some history on them for you...

I'd like to propose a new word be added to the language:

"Craigtropy" - The slowly unfolding realization that you are never going to get the insanely high initial asking price for the junk you're selling on Craigslist.

Craigtropy can be measured by watching how the same seller, over time, keeps reposting the same item with increasingly less detail, as well as the occasional lowered price. Bear in mind, however, that price breaks are rare, because Craigtropy isn't necessarily the same thing as "coming to your senses".

Witness, then, this initial ad for a modded original Xbox (http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/tag/1359551119.html), which was originally offered for"$260.oo" [sic]. It then was lowered to $200 with an optional dog-stained ottoman thrown in (http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/ele/1368194681.html) to sweeten the deal. And now the poor, desperate seller has upped the offer to $225 or a laptop (http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/vgm/1382570802.html), and taken the ottoman off the table, so to speak. But notice how the ads contain progressively less detail. See? That's Craigtropy in action.

Craigtropy. Use it. Propagate it. Pay me a nickel every time someone else says it.
