You know, I could just be off my rocker here... but don't sports games usually subtract from the value of any system they're with?

Best (grossest) Craigslist story EVER
We're selling our air hockey table on CL currently... had a lady call last night about it.
She said she's 80 and likes to have the neighborhood boys come over to play games and go... skinny-dipping in her pool.
She then asked if it smelled. We said no... non smoking home. Then she asked if it smelled like boys.
No joke. You should have seen my dad's face...
Reminded me of this guy but if he was the black lady from the Pine Sol commercials...

24 is not a lot of games to type up in my opinion
My Response:I am interested if the right games are there. If I wasn't interested, I wouldn't of responded to you.
His: what games are you looking for and i am selling as a package not games alone. we have zelda, duck unter, super mario, and supermario bros 3. many more but thouse are the ones people are usally looking for
Mine:I know you are selling the system and games in a package. Though I like buying systems when I know what games are coming with it. Though I am not usually looking for Zelda, Mario 3, or Super Mario and Duck Hunt. Those are common games to get with the system. I am looking for the obscure games like Bubble Bobble, Donkey Kong, Little Samson and others like so. Common tip to save on email tag is to list the games. Saves the trouble with emails. There is a total of 781 games for the NES. I am looking for a lot of stuff that isn't common.
All could of been saved if he would of made a list. Thats all I am saying. Sorry for a mini type rant.:deadhorse:

i would have called instead of emailing. he can't say "it's too tough to read them" right? what i hate more is when they do this on something that they want A LOT of money on. this example, unless he just had 24 copies of mario/duck hunt (or 12 copies, since he lists 24 GAMES not necessarily 24 carts) it would probably be worth $100 to a reseller. But when someone posts "I have a PS2, a couple controllers, a memory card and 15 games for $200" well... it's POSSIBLE that there are 15 games there that would be worth that. Highly unlikely, but it's possible. and what is really stupid about that is that if you want THAT MUCH MONEY you'd better be damn prepared to WORK for it, not just some lazy shit with "i can't be bothered to list what games i have." DUH, it isn't worth it if you have cheap ass games!

I have an issue with people that don't list games.
I don't see nearly as many CL ads around my area for older games as some people do in more populated areas but I did see one just after Christmas that is a classic example of what your complaining about. The CL listing is expired but it basicly said 25ish NES games and I think it listed 3 of them with a make me an offer type vibe to it so I e-mailed the guy asking about it.
Me - May I ask what Nintendo games you have? Also you mention that you would be interested in trading but are you looking for anything in particular or at least an idea of what you would be interested in (for example if you wanted to trade them for PS2 games).
Him - i have games like pacman super mario 1 or 2 different ones duck hunt with the guns 4 controlers thats what i can name off the top of my head, i just bought an xbox 360 i need game(s) theres tons of other games get back to me
Me - Do you know if the games still work? Have you played them recently? If possible I would be interested in seeing/knowing what all of the games are.
Him - hey ya idk what there are right now but i played them once so they should work
Me - That doesn't sound very good, well let me know if you do happen to find them I still have about 100 then some in Xmas money that's burning a hole in my pocket.
Him - i will tell u with in 3 days what they all are
This last e-mail I got on 1-7-09 so I think even a genius like him knows that his 3 days he set for himself are way up :D Couldn't motivate this guy with the idea of money burning a hole in my pocket and besides the laziness & bad spelling this guy tops other bad CL sellers by not even knowing where the stuff he listed for sale is at lol
Here's another winner, this was the only item I've ever tried to sell on craigslist and this was back some time in September. Here's the subject line for the item "Wii Fit Bundle (New Sealed) - $100 (Montoursville)"
Him - Why are you selling this? Where did you buy it? How much did it cost? Will you take any less?
Me - Why are you selling this? Bought it for a family member and they changed their mind about it after I bought it
Where did you buy it? K-Mart
How much did it cost? 95.39 (After tax of course)
Will you take any less? If you like you can make an offer and I'll get back to you if I agree to it.
Him - You want more than you paid for it? I'll offer $50.00.
How selfish of me I'd be making $4 and change, with his brillent haggling skills he almost had me convinced that I would much rather lose 40 some dollars  I probably should have just ignored him when he first e-mailed me but I was interested to see what would happen lol I ended up returned it to K-Mart since they gave me a much better offer :D

As annoying as those ads/people are that won't list games, deals can be had from them since no one else really wants to put up with it either. For me it completely depends on how close they are. If I don't have to drive too far, I'll sometimes just set up a time and go see for myself. Sucks if it is all crap, but you never know.
Another approach that has worked for me is to be apologetic for the hassle: "I know it is a pain, but if you have a chance could you list all the games for me?". Also, suggesting a picture that you can read the titles from is another good way to go, since for some people (those that suck at/don't like typing) that is easier than typing 25 lines. Yeah, they are morons, but if you recognize that, give easy suggestions, and avoid offending them, you might get a deal.
@ FOne... You ask if NES games work? I've never asked that, and out of thousands of NES carts I think I've only had one that wouldn't work at all (Zelda, and I haven't taken it apart, so the battery might just be loose).

I responded to an ad like that, a Genesis with a bunch of games(maybe around 20?). The guy refused to list the titles for me, I asked repeatedly and he said they were too many to list. I asked how many were sports games and he said most of them, I asked for just the names of the games that weren't sports games and still didn't get anywhere. I then told him that I don't spend anything without knowing what I'm buying, and to please list the games or I won't bother. I didn't hear back.
I once bought a huge lot of Genesis games, over 200 games in total. In the ad, all of the games were listed in alphabetical order. For someone to not bother with less than 30 games, they have to be really lazy.
I think the weirdest ad I replied to was somebody looking for a Genesis system and games, it specifically said in the description to let the guy know what was included and a price as he was looking to buy a system with games. I replied to the ad while listing what I had available, and the person wanted to sell me or trade me a Genesis system with games, even some of the games he had were the same ones I had, and he wanted to trade them for my system and games. I didn't bother to reply back, I wasn't interested in the stuff he had(and I would have to travel to his area to meet with him). I was really confused by that, he wants a system with games yet he wants to sell a system with games at the same time.
Here's an ad that's just annoying, and it keeps getting reposted every few days. It's a broken VCR, he should just throw it out himself. Technically electronics are supposed to be brought to a specific recycling depot, this guy just wants someone else to do it for him. At least it's free. :|

I've only ever had a few NES games over the years that didn't work and as everybody knows you can usually clean the contacts on an NES game to get them working (or at least working better) also cleaning NES games can be a real pain in the ass I'm probably going to walk on dirty NES games if they ain't anything special unless they are dirt cheap :) I still ask about games working sometimes in situations like this or if I run into games in the wild that look bad since I know that I'm pretty much going to be buying them as-is and at the least asking about if they work since it could swing things in my favor.

http://youngstown.craigslist.org/clt/1020475658.html
So how many is "many"? To us collectors, it's at least 50, and for that price it should be close to 50, something tells me there's probably 5-10 games there.

I don't consider any of these insane, yeah some of the games might be sports games, but it still doesn't seem like a horrible deal. Any of them really. The last one was probably just a typo, which since they listed the games I would assume that most people would also assume that it is a typo instead of "What's the sixth game! YOU SAID THERE WOULD BE SIX!?"
All of those are decent asking prices for what you would be getting, the only one that might be stretching it is the Sega Saturn, but it doesn't seem like a bad deal, could be some good games in there. The Dreamcast is a really decent price considering that even if you value the base console(cords, 1 cont) at $20-30 you are still getting a fair bit for your dollar.

Yeah, they're not too bad of prices assuming more than a couple of the games aren't sports, it's just the fact they don't list the games that bothers me. I've emailed all but one of those ads, to try and get a list, they'll probably give me the run around for a list as they don't want to work a little for the money.

I love when folks advertise a number of games as being a "HUGE LOT" and it's 8 to 12 titles. I almost want to message them asking, "OH MY GOD! THIS LOT IS SO HUGE!!! HOW WILL I EVER GET IT INTO MY HOUSE, LET ALONE MY CAR?!"
Or perhaps,

I must agree that CL is annoying reading the crap deals. But Ive found some garage sale like amazing finds.
Brave Fencer, Parasite Eve 1 / 2, Chrono Cross with guide and Vandal Hearts for 30 total. They were all 10000% mint and complete. The thing is the guy listed the post 2 weeks before I saw it so people in my area must not have cared to find this deal.
So pass through the 10 annoying posts to find the good one :)

Quoted for truth. You wouldn't believe (or actually I'm sure you would) the kind of insane deals I've gotten on CL over the years. Games I thought I'd NEVER see for sale "in the wild" or never get at a decent price (Guardian Heroes springs to mind). As much as I might laugh at some of the ads on CL, and be completely annoyed by the asshats, spammers and the like, I still love that site to death.

More like pass through 400 ads to find a decent post per day, and every 20 days there's one worth buying. And for every 10 of those great ones, there's one close enough to actually get to. That's what it seems like to me on average. :D
Of course there's truly great stuff that can be had through craigslist or kijiji, otherwise I wouldn't bother looking through it. I almost stopped going to thrift stores because they are nowhere near as good as they were a few years ago, but I still go occasionally just in case something good comes in at a decent price(it sometimes happens).
Ok, here's an ad. I flagged it for best of craigslist. :)

Hi,
I have been looking for year's for some good magick mushrooms or a small amount of acid/LSD but it's SO hard to find these days :( :P, I don't know anyone who has any and I really would love to get some for personal & spiritual use. I can't afford right now, (unfortunately), to order any online and I don't have a credit card, and I know here probably isn't the best place to ask...but I am running out of people to ask & am feeling hopeless, lol :( :P. If anyone has any or know's anyone with a reliable source, I would really appreciate the help...thanks & peace :).
P.S.: I used a little code-title, well for my own reasons, HAHA ;) :P.

Its just as simple as that, I'm sick of not being able to play my playstaion2 games on my playstaion3 (40GB). So I will pay one dollar for every gigabyte my playstaion3 is less than yours to trade consoles with you. I could also settle for downgrading to a twenty gigabyte playstaion3 but I would have to ask for two dollars for every gigabyte difference since I would prefer an upgrade. Thank you.

They could be. I assumed that they were NES games but looking again, it just mentions "Nintendo" games. They could be burned Wii games. I originally thought the seller was just lazy.

Oh.. yeah. The Pikachu statue is pretty unusual. I've seen it only like two other times. There's a guy on Youtube that owns one and I've seen a pic of one in the Nintendo store in NY (no idea if it's for sale tho).
I asked b/c I know the guy that's selling it. He's just trying to make some cash by selling a beloved collectible. I couldn't tell him what it was worth tho since I've never seen another one for sale, and he had no idea either. So I just mostly asked out of curiosity.

If I'm not mistaken, both Squeeze Box and Piece 'O Cake are at least $10 titles (which is good for an Atari 2600 game, most aren't worth more than a $1). I could be wrong tho, just going off the price guide here, I didn't bother checking Ebay or anything. I don't exactly have two PSP slims to trade. LOL
