View Full Version : Craigslist people, are they serious?!??

I don't really shudder to go out again. Most people on Craigslist, that I have met are good people. In the case I described, wow really? The other little rant on craigslist I have lately when I post something no one wants to drive anywhere. Now I live about 50miles out from Portland and 120 miles out from Seattle. If I want something I will drive either way to go get it. When I post something over $50 in the Portland Craigslist, I get calls uhhh could you drive it to me, I don't want to drive that far. My response fill my tank...$20 or so and I will drive it to you. They are usually thinking only thing I have is a $5.
I also have an issue with that. "Will you drive to me? It's so far to drive to you."
"Sir, it's the same distance for me to drive to you."
"Oh, ok"

Here's a classic one. Was browsing through Craigslist when I came across a listing title PS2 Video Games - $25. Ok, I thought, a lot of games for $25. I clicked on it to see if it might have been worth looking into only to shake my head in disbelief.

In great condition...like new. 773-727-2840
These games are available for $25 each:
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Grand Theft Auto - Liberty City Stories
Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto - Vice City
NBA Street Vol. 2
Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition
Really, $25 for games that are maybe at most worth $10 each and in some cases aren't even. To be fair the two Resident Evil games may actually be worth around that considering Gamestop sold the GCN versions for a rather high price considering the age. I also got to love how hard the pictures are too see. I can't even see what games don't have cases.

The only thing I don't get is why you'd be willing to meet with someone without knowing how much you'd be getting for something. That's got to be a huge waste of your time.
Actually, a retail store was doing something like that when advertising on craigslist. Most people I know that have been to the store say it's great and well priced, but I've never been so I can't say for sure. I spoted an ad for a TurboExpress with a bunch of games, including Magical Chase. No price was listed so I replied and I asked what he was looking to get for everything. I got a reply back with him saying all the general type of stuff he's looking to get traded in. I asked about how much worth of stuff was he looking to get and if there was anything in particular he wanted as I had plenty I could bring him. He avoided telling me how much he wanted to get, and just said to bring everything. I didn't bother to reply back, he's maybe 2 hours away and since he didn't mention a price I assumed it was too expensive. There's also no way I'd pack up tons of boxes to just find out trade in values, that's way too much to bring.
I get replies from people asking if I can deliver games to them when they're over an hour away(for maybe a $5 game), I say no but I'd let them know if I'd ever be travelling that way. It seems a lot of people are just cheap, there have been several times as a buyer when I gladly offered to pay extra for the seller to meet closer to me, lots of times it wasn't to my area, just close enough that I could travel to it(maybe half hour away). It really depends on what's being offered for sale, for how much, and how far away they are.

$300 for an NES with 33 games. What a joke. I don't why the NES seems to be so sought after here. Prices are always insane on craigslist and I never see them in thrift stores.
I was at a Goodwill half off day a couple weeks back and I was waiting in line at the glass case behind this guy who was going through EVERY single DVD while dancing to some music coming out of his earphones. He also had the clerk put everything else on the counter so he could look through it (I was really nervous he was going to take the ten dollar Saturn I had come to get).
So anyway, he finally finishes and I step up when all of the sudden some obese black women comes charging up to the counter and yells over me to the clerk that she wants to buy the NES in the case. The guy pulls it out and hands it to her, so I cut in and ask to look through the small box of NES games next to it. The woman freaks out and trys to step up next to me so she can look through it with me but my wife moved over to block her... the whole time she was running all around behind us trying to look over our heads.
The only other NES I've seen at a thrift store in the past 6-8 months was a CIB one for ten bucks that I snatched up.

I'm selling it because i'm trying to come up with some money to help out my husband. Please e-mail me at chuckiesgrl@yahoo.com. Serious inquires only.
If you also know anyone who's interested in buying my Japanese Akita. He's just a year old now. He would be $500. He's fully house trained. He's medium sized, and white and brindle. He is current on all his shots and is very loveable. Very good around kids. He's both an indoor and outdoor dog. He would do great in an apartment or kennel. Let me know. Thank you.

The original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was released in the United States in August, 1985. Backed by classic games such as Super Mario Bros., Make no mistake, this item is as rare as it gets, wont find one anywhere around, EBay doesnt have any... The same system from the 80s, the ones your dads and grandparents played with. Its been played a bunch but still works, I promise that, it comes with Mario 1 and 3, The picture shows the 3 in 1 adapter, I do not have that ,plenty of games though and 2 controllers 1 of which is the unique dogbone controller, and Dr. Mario and I have plenty of other games like baseball wars, hoops, and wrestlemania, this is a collectors item. Like I said, works fine, comes with all he cables and cords, the console itself, is definitly something I would just sit on for a decade or two, the rarity of this will be only so high. If you have any questions please call me.
WOW....only so high until the market collapses..

I have in my possession.. the most awesome band name EVER! too bad I don't have a band and can never use it. but that doesn't mean it should go to waste!
This band name is VERY clever and most definitely unique. It would work really well with a band that has 1 female member, or any indie type rock/pop/punk band. Not suitable for heavy metal, but DEFINITELY not suitable for a christian rock group either. MUST be a band.
I am willing to sell this band name for $100. You give me $100, I tell you the band name. If you like it, you can go register it right away and go on to fame and glory. If you don't like it, that would really suck for you.
ha ha.
Email me if you want more information.
So, the name is awesome, but you may not like it, and isn't suitable for certain genres. Pay $100 for this information, and use it however you will. It's probably something terrible like Rainbow Butt Monkeys or Fly To France (both previously used awful names). This guy should be flagged (and possibly flogged). I kept the link up there if you guys wanted your own personal amusement... or the best band name ever ;).

ah, ok here is where shit gets all confusing and people wlil start fuckign with you. i shoudl have made it more clear. these games are only worth about 60$ each right now. in about 10 years from now the price will go up.
its like this..
Earthbound snes ---> right now the game is worth anywhere from 100 -- 150. thats just for the super nintendo.
The thing about these games is that if you have the original boxes etc it auto makes the value go up by aroudn 2021....
so if people think you are crazy. tell them to learn the depreciation and the value build up over the years with video games...
sorry if i miss led you, a few people on here have been sending me mssges saying i am crazy. but then again. they also don't have copies of the game :P
happy selling!'

I know enough, and know enough people; But you gotta look at it like this. its already listed at 112 for number1, and thats for a brand new copy never opened. but the chanses of you getting your hands on it brand new never opened is very slim.
every 20 - 30 years something becomes a vintage or collectable. alot of people don't understand that.
The price of something will drop for the first few years but will shorty bounce back up. ya get it?

you also have to keep in mind the amount of copies that they made, the condition of the game, did it come in its original pkging? and was the game a big seller when it was released? not every game will be worth lots.

So basically, this mental midgets whole argument is that 20-30 years down the road any video game will be several times its current value so why not just sell it now for that much. All right, I'll just head down to EB and grab all those PS2 games they have for $5 each and list them all for $200 because, according to this arrogant imbecile, it'll be vintage "someday".

I think messing with him and just not buying his game is worth it. Like most of the posts here show, anyone can post a bunch of crap for a high price. It just depends on the buyer to realize it is a bad deal or just not worth it.
That being said, there are some great stuff going for their right prices that people just aren't buying because of the price. Someone in the Chicago area listed a Virtual Boy lot that comes with 12 games in box (missing Jack Bros. and a baseball game) and the VB seems to be in good condition. It is being sold for $225 and is probably the right price, but it has been sitting on Craigslist for weeks probably because it is a little high for Craigslist. I mean on Ebay it could easily go for around that price or higher and would definitely be sold for around that price at a game store.

Anyway, after I arrive at the meeting place which I traveled a bit to(I got a ride from someone), I get a phone call saying he's still at home and his brother changed his mind about 2 of the games and just wanted to get one of them(it was the best one of the 3). I said he could just get that one but at the original price since I only took off $5 because he was getting several. He said he'd ask his brother and phone me right back, I waited 20 minutes there and never got another call. This was in winter time and I was waiting outside. Later when I got back home I sent an email saying a decent person would have phoned me to say they changed their mind instead of letting me wait in the cold.
I'm pretty sure he did it on purpose to try and haggle with me, thinking I'd agree to the lower price since I was already there. It didn't work because I don't do favours for people who try to manipulate me. Why should someone benefit when they're being a jerk to someone else?

That's why I never phone numbers posted in ads, I see plenty of ads that people post at about 2:00am with the hope of bothering some person who has that number(someone else, not the poster of the ad). Plenty of people call those numbers too, just in case it's a legit ad. I can't tell if it's a real ad or not, but I would guess it's fake.

Anybody deal with any of those idiots who swear up and down they're coming to buy something and don't show up lately? Fucking people man. So I have people who wanna meet up halfway sometimes or deliver it and stuff, honestly I just say no. Driving all the way across the state to meet with someone who may or may not show up makes you weary. Like if they don't show, not only do you not sell your item, but you wasted all that time and gas ($$$), and you pushed away other buyers. I can't do it.
Be a man and tell me you don't wanna buy my stuff after all. Don't make me drive around for nothing and ignore my emails and phone calls.
I guess you don't really understand how this works, its MY fucking add you shit head, and if you have a problem with my asking price, then maybe you should not say anything at all.
Well, he is right about this.

i have a working 17 inch CRT I put on my local Craigslist for $10 dollars for a quick sale
turns out people still want me to deliver it to them, help them set it up on their computer and other crap that would basically be like I am giving it to them for free
I even had one guy that called asking if it was an LCD
honestly who would sell an LCD monitor, even if 13 inch's for 10 bucks?

Been in business for 7years. Closing down due to getting bored with this kinda stuff.
again. I DO KNOW WHAT THINGS ARE WORTH. ie: a Mario Kart which normally sells for 25-30 I would be giving to you for 15-20
ie: an N64 that normally sells for 30-35 I would be selling for 20$
Where is he getting his prices? When could you get $25-$30 for a loose Mario Kart? I have to assume the amount he's looking for as a bulk price is way too high.

Uncle used to run a store, gave me his stuff since I collect video games, and there were some included.
Hmmm, that's different than running a store for 7 years and just deciding to close it down. I'm guessing he's lying, plus if it's Cellplanman he posted that he bought it all off another store owner that used to run a business.

Haha, yea no way a xbox plays 360 games but a very price on the debug as it usually sells for around 200 and up.And I really hope the person did not install a chip in a debug kit as its pretty much useless but I would say the person has no idea what he has so he's making up useless falsities.

Blah. Fucking people charging retail price for stuff like they are running their own wal-mart store or something. No, you're not walmart, your a regular person selling something. Stop asking for retail price. You're not retail.
I don't like buying BNIB stuff off craigslist especially if I'm being charged the same amount I would pay at a store because you never know where the person got the item. They could have stole it from a store and are trying to dump it on someone.
