Nintendo NES System - Video Game Console - $400
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/clt/1042150649.html
Mint condition Nintendo NES System - Video Game Console. COMPLETE and RARE.
How complete is it that is worth $400?
So the guy emailed me back......... Here is a summary on how its going so far:
Me in response the ad:
What does the system come with? How many games?
Him: It comes with the Control Deck and 2 controllers. No games
My next email:
And the price is $400? Really?
Response: What were you expecting to pay?
Next Email: Between $10-$40 at most. It matters if it has the new pin connectors, also if it had games. I picked one up today at a garage sale for $5 with a controller, power, rf, and 4 games. ( This is true, I traded some xbox AV cable to get the NES for $5)
His: It's brand NEW original NES in the original box, in the original packaging, in perfect original condition ! ! ! It's priced considerably lower than what is being asked on e.bay or amazon.
My Last one: Well, I didn't know your ad stated that you had a Nintendo for sale. Which box is it? Is it the ROB box? The Challenge Set? Action Set? or just the normal one? Could you get me those links to ebay or amazon of Nintendos for $400 or more?
$400 for a box NES with no games but its perfect....I am going to keep an update with this one.:duh:

Sometimes when I see people asking for ridiculous prices for games, I offer to sell them extras I have so they can "make a profit on it". If someone wants $30 for a Super Mario/Duck Hunt cart, offer to sell them a dozen copies for $10 each. Make sure to say you just want to get rid of them quick and don't care if you're losing out.
I ended up selling off a bunch of extra games(mostly N64) to an ebay seller(he didn't know I was aware of his account, he listed a phone number that I googled and it was listed in an auction of his). I watched the auctions of my games afterwards and he barely made anything off them, but I was glad to get rid of them. Originally this person responded to one of my ads(I didn't reply to his), but he mostly wanted popular stuff that's usually in high demand so I knew he was planning to resell it. I only offered him more stuff after I saw him list the games he already bought from me, that's when I offered a big amount of stuff. :-D

That reminds me of an ad I saw a long time ago, a girl around that age was asking for a talent agent because she wanted to become a model. She posted pictures of herself and listed her home address for her location. Some people just aren't that bright. LOL

I love it when people on CL list some astronomical, insane amount of money that you might have to pay elsewhere. Usually it's "I paid 2k monies for this new!" but this guy doesn't even say that (and it would be a lie if he did).

Sometimes those ads can work in your favor if you've got something similar to sell. Anytime I see something like that for sale for a ridiculous amount, I'll put up a similar lot for a reasonable price. My stuff seems to sell better than when there is no "competition".

Yeah, it really bothers me when there's no list or pictures shown(both the ones you posted have pictures, though very terrible ones). It's like they don't check how the ad looks after it's posted, they don't realize that the pics are resized.
I'm still bothered by someone I contacted awhile back, he didn't list the games and refused to tell me what they were. He mentioned that a lot were sports games but wouldn't name the non-sports games for me. Just a really lazy person. If someone doesn't tell me the names, I assume they're all junk so I avoid buying it.
Here's a slightly confusing one. "Lasted"? Is it broken now? "Only plays real copy games"? Does that mean originals or copies?

He mentioned that a lot were sports games but wouldn't name the non-sports games for me. Just a really lazy person. If someone doesn't tell me the names, I assume they're all junk so I avoid buying it.
[/url]
You're lucky. I contact people and they insist on reading the games over the phone. One guy had over 50 games of atari so one hand typing and the other holding the phone. Half were repeats too so he would say pac man then continue then add hes like another pac man or was that the same one...hmm.

I avoid calling people whenever possible, I called a woman once because she offered me an original Gameboy with games(which apparently had a full colour screen, meaning it wasn't a Gameboy). I phoned her when she told me to and she couldn't find it, and her pet bird was screeching into the phone constantly. It was painful to have to call a few times, so I didn't bother to phone back anymore.
Plus lots of times when someone posts a phone number the ad is a fake, it's only posted to bother someone late at night. I really avoid ads that ask to phone.
Anyway, I found another ad. It's not game related, but it's outright fraud.

Hi there,
I need a receipt from a registered massage therapist for $500-1000 dollars.
Receipt needs to be dated for dates in 2008. My masseuse is gone to the states and I need these receipts asap.
If you can help I would be willing to pay $50-$100 depending on where you are located in the city.
Thanks for your help.

The nerd in me just had to determine all of the games in that picture. :moon:
The games are
Halo 1
Halo 2 CE
Deus EX
Battlestar Galactica
Unreal Championship
Need for Speed Underground 2
Everything or Nothing
Blood Wake
ESPN NFL 2K5
All those and the fact that there's NO power cord.....soooooo worth the money! ;)

I thought this is sad. Selling a loaded Ds flashcart.

"This is not a scam!!
I have all DS games on my computer and I put them on a memory stick that goes into a special DS cartridge that looks exactly like a regular DS game. There are 2 choices to choose from, the first stick will hold up to 49 games and costs $80 (thats only $1.63 per game!!) and the second one will hold up to 96 games and costs $125 (thats only $1.30 per game!!). You really cant beat that price!! All games are fully functional and are the complete game from beginning to end. I have no problems meeting up with anyone who wants to see it first hand to make sure it is real and works perfectly. This is the perfect thing for kids, cause you will never have to buy another game again!! Both my daughter's have them and absolutely love them! Here is a few of the games I have, but of course there are MANY more, this is only a very SMALL fraction of the games I have. If you would like I will email you my entire list. I am constantly adding new games to my list and if there are any you want that you do not see, just let me know."
Then he lists off the games..........

I can't decide if this guy is completely stupid or if he thinks everyone else is (http://baltimore.craigslist.org/tag/1066461718.html). He wants to give someone $3-5 a piece for these games:
Earthbound
Lufia 1 & 2
Secret of Mana
Secret of Evermore
Megaman X
Breath of Fire 1 – 3
Mario Kart
Chrono Trigger
TMNT: Turtles in Time
Final Fantasy 2 & 3
Final Fantasy mystic Quest
Star Ocean
Illusions of gaia
Mortal combat 2 & 3
Kirby in dreamland
Super metroid
Zelda A Link to the past
Super Mario RPG legend of the seven stars
Out of this world
F-Zero (all of them)
Boogerman
Ahh real monsters
Barring the few commons in there, does he really think someone is going to part with Chrono Trigger for $5 max? He also says he'll give a whopping $25 for Eathbound. It appears that craigs list people are indeed still stupid.

Yeah, these kinds of ads pop up from time to time. Usually, tho, they don't state how much they pay (beyond saying it's TOP DOLLAR) and they don't give you a list. It's why I rarely, if ever, respond to WANTED ads. If you can't do a search on CL and find what you're looking for, you're a moron or lazy. If you DO a search and find what you're looking for but STILL post a WANTED ad, it means you're cheap and/or a reseller looking to fleece someone. In any case, STFU, k thnx.

There are two types of people to advertise on Craiglist around me. First there is the collector view....
I am Looking for older video games and systems
I am serious collector of video games, items, and systems. I have been collecting video games for about 20 years. My intention is to one day have a video game museum. I am looking for older video games and systems. Heck, I am even interested in the boxes and manuals of games that you have! Even if you have something I am not interested in, I can give you honest feedback and value of what you have. The following are examples of what I am most interested in, please call me if you have the following games and systems. Have something old and taking up space?

He might get a reply, some people might not know what they have and just sell it for cheap. Years ago I passed on a copy of Earthbound for $7.99 because I didn't collect SNES stuff at the time and I didn't know about the game. Sometimes I see some of those games turn up at thrift stores for cheap(or I used to), so some people were willing to just give them away. I still don't like it when people post a want ad like that, it's way different than replying to an ad where the games are posted cheap.

I generally avoid replying to want ads too, but sometimes I reply when someone just posts a couple of cheap games that they're looking for(like someone asking for a copy of Bubsy for the Genesis). When I see ads that are too general, I generally ignore them. I have sold off a few original Gameboy systems as people posted want ads looking for them, it seems I can only get a decent amount for them if someone is really looking for one and posts a want ad. I also see plenty of want ads where people are asking for systems for free, these are pretty bad too.
I'll post something positive today, an ad with a bunch of PS1 games for $5 each....including Final Fantasy VII. Too far away for me to get to, but it's nice to see that good deals still are out there.

The Final Fantasy VII is sold, same with Resident Evil 2. All the others are still available. They really didn't last too long, they sold a few hours after I posted here. It was just nice to see something decent for sale, usually I don't see good stuff all too often.
Often when I want to get a single game off someone, I just buy the whole lot and sell off the extras later. To just pick the best from the lot when the games are so cheap seems kind of bad to me, it's more helpful to the seller to just get everything(plus if several people reply, the seller is more likely to sell to someone wanting to get everything).

Same here, I figure they don't want to get left w/ crap they can't sell, and if nothing else I can trade it or put it w/ a lot of my own. And they're gonna want to sell to me rather than someone who's "cherry picking".
And... wow! We don't have libraries that rent video games around here, unfortunately. XD The closest we get is educational software, I think.

Older people do seem to enjoy playing the NES (especially Tetris). I'd say ore than half the NES systems I sell on Craigslist are either bought buy an old person or are going to be a gift to an older person.
In fact, I've given two to older relatives because they just wanted to play Tetris on it.

I have a true gamers collection I'm looking to unload as I have lost the need for it. I have 1,800 games ranging from atari 2600 through PS3 and Xbox 360. I have several rarities in the collection and hard to find games. I have all the systems to play these on as well except an N-Gage which I have about 6 games for. There are also about 250 Guidebooks as well. Some of the more rare games I have in this collection includes. (all of these are complete)
Tales of Destiny
Tales of Destiny 2 (sealed)
Shining force 3
Albert Odyssey
Final Fantasy 3
Chrono Trigger (super nintendo not DS version) complete
Entire Suikoden Series all complete
Persona 2, 3, and 4.
Einhander
Ergeiz
All of the Grandia Series
Marvel VS. Capcom 2 (PS2)
E.V.O Search for Eden
This list could go on and on all day and has a crazy amount of RPG's in it. More than any sane human could actually finish in a lifetime. Would be looking at 30k for the collection or for a C-5 Z06 corvette or a C-6 Corvette. Feel free to email me with questions

I have for a long time played video games and have wanted to in someway bring them off the screen of my tv in to real time so I have decided to make it happen. I don't have the money but I believe that if you pursue you dreams they will happen. So at some point it will be profitable but right now I am starting at ground zero. So I wish to build a team of designers, gamers, special effects, fiberglassers, vaccum molders and computer and electronic people to assit in making this a reality. I am working on getting a building to house the finish project. the other factor is time i would like this to happen asap.
As of right now all i can offer is the chance to display and strech the range of your artistic ability. I will not say that it can not be possible to make a profit if and when it becomes profitable for me I will in turn pay you for your help. but rather then put a misleading ad. Let just call in an invitation to the future on entertainment. Now let's make history!

He's singlehandedly trying to create video game theater. Someone should really throw wads of cash at this idea.

At least the 360 isn't RROD'd.
And I love how the "bad ass bronco for 10,000" is tacked on there as an afterthought. I suppose if that sells, then he won't need the gas money.
Don't drink and post on CL, kiddies.

I found one that's really way off. The seller has two separate lots listed in one ad, so I'll quote them separately. Remember, if you don't hear back it's because you're lowballing, not because the seller is insane.
