I'm sure I'm not the only one on digital press who spends alot of time scanning alot of craigslist for good deals. But why is it for every fair deal i see out there I see 10 deals that are like PS2 6 shitty old sports games ONLY $250!!! Then as if they know that their deal sucks they try to justify the outrageous price with some lame explanation of how much this shit cost new. "Oh man retail price when all these products were released was like $800 your saving $550!". It most closely reminds me of people trying to sell their computers in the classifieds. "COMPUTER FOR SALE! 3 years old, monitor, speakers, printer $700, i paid $2000 for it new!" Now to give this thread a little bit of room to move forward with discussion. Post the worst video game deals you've ever seen someone pull out of their ass.

*add* just thought of this, no mentions of paticular sales, sellers, or linking to any specific sales or sellers as this can be considered universally bad form along the lines of sale spoiling.

yes I see exactly that daily....

Also with the modded xboxs people still wanting $200+ on there for just the unit. Evn unmodded one's with 3-4 real shitty games for over $100

There is some douche that keeps trying to sell a loose genesis system with 5 bad games for $50 Half the stuff in the add isnt even spelled right.

Or the "VINTAGE" Nintendo 64 systems....... [smash head]

None of that in my local Craigslist, when there actually is a good post, it's genuine.

Still, nothing beats the $150 toaster NES with SMB/DH and Mario 3....

I have seen both good and bad ads. Some people may actually be ignorant of the lack of value of their video games. Also, since it doesn't cost anything to advertise, why not put it at a high price, you might just catch a sucker.

i beg to differ. i see your 150$ nes and raise you a 500$ snes. i called her and asked if she was serious then laughed at her. few minutes later she dropped the price on the ad to like 200$ lol

Atleast you get some fair deals once in awhile. In my local ads and Craigslist all I find is insane prices, an NES with 15 games...sounds good right? I checked out the game list, he had like 5 copies of mario brothers/duck hunt and just a bunch of crappy games...asking price, $250 firm.

EDIT: Also, people try to pawn off their PS2 games at 20 bucks a pop. I buy them from a pawn shop for 5-10 dollars each and they are atleast good.

One guy was selling like 2 NES systems and 4 SNES systems for 150$ saying its a "good resale value"

I see people posting NES systems for 100 bucks saying the local pawn shops sell them for 150...which is a flat out lie since I know EVERY single pawn shop in my area and the highest NES I found was 59 and it was boxed and in perfect shape.

Exactly.

I have to believe that most of the people posting their sales on craigslist (at least in my area) have absolutely no idea what these items are REALLY worth....hence I end up viewing PS1 and six games for $299. It has been the same in garage sale hunting. All these people really know are that games are in demand, so they think they are worth a fortune. I had someone at a recent garage sale ask for $500 for a SMS and five games. For me, ebay is a better option at this point.

The big problem with people posting these outrageously high prices is that you can't haggle. If someone is asking $100 for an N64 with three games, you can't really offer $40.

Let's not forget its that same ignorance for its worth that provide the awesome deals we find on there. Just as there are blokes who sells loose NES for 300, there are people who'd sell a cornucopia of systems and 200 games for 50.

Who cares if someone asks 100 for a SMB/DH, I'm interested in the ones selling FF7 complete for 5. :D

I agree. That is how I picked up a boxed Jaguar with 10 games recently. A couple of the games were rentals so had no boxes, but they all had manuals and the only ones missing the overlays were Wolfenstein and Cybermorph. i love when people are intentionally vague in the listings and not willing to help you out or answer your questions. your xbox with 25 games MIGHT just warrant that 150 your asking, depends on the games. Oh you can't be bothered to tell me what fucking games you have? BTW I am selling a car has some wheels and seats asking 7500 firm.

I walked into a pawn shop here and eyed an Intellivision in the showcase. The guy behind the counter jumped on my interest and proudly boasted, "It comes with a ton of games, too."

"Alright", I said, "Let's see 'em." So he pulls out a stack of games.. all commons. Space this, Astro that, Baseball, Skiing, Football, the works. So I look back up at the guy and he grins broadly, "Two hundred bucks and it's yours."

I can't help but laugh and say instinctively, "Are you serious?" The moment the grin disappeared from his face is the moment I knew he really *was* serious. I then look at the titles and say, "I mean, it wouldn't be bad if these were all uncommon, desirable titles, but these are all commons..."

He then gets in a huff and starts putting it all away quickly, exclaiming, "Well then. I guess I'll just take it over to [name of popular local game store]. Joe there will give me two-hundred bucks for it."

I blink and just boggle at the situation. I'm speechless for a moment, and then manage to explain, "Joe? You mean, the guy buying Intellivisions for ten bucks each and selling them for eighty?" The guy looks a little upset now, retorting, "He pays more than that! Joe and I go *way* back!" He gestures with his arms, as if pointing to exactly *how* far back he and Joe really go.

I shake my head and shrug my shoulders, "Sorry, man. I was there just last week and that's what he's paying. But don't take my word for it, go see for yourself. Anyway, good luck."

I promptly walked out, deciding to keep this shop on my list of stores to frequent. After all, a store with employees *this* dumb is a store that will price their rare stuff cheaply, only because they don't know better.

shit man i have a decent intellivision collection, there aren't too many rare or pricey games for that thing i mean i even managed to get thunder castle for under $10. It would have to be pretty loaded to hit $200 in my book, I'm talking intellivoice module with all compatible games, heman, thunder castle, spiker pro volleyball, and i dont even know what else. oh i know what could get me to pay $200 for an intv, if it had the keyboard component, or even the ecs.

Yea my genesis was having a hard time playing ps3 games so i stacked about 40 32x's (creating the worlds first sega 1280x) into that sucker all of a sudden nasa comes up to me all like "hey we need your super computer to save these astronauts who are trapped in the past" and i was like hmm i dunno this game of star wars arcade isnt going to play itself.

so long story short, i let them use my super computer (genesis with additional 32x's) and they went into the past where they encountered pretty badly rendered star wolf. After a brief battle they gave up on the astronauts and plugged a copy of starfox 64 into los Genetar (the name i have just assigned my super computer) and gave that a quick run though. After that we went out for strawberry ice cream. The end

I've been considering using the TG-16 expansion in the Laseractive but I don't want to get all tied up with that Russian mafia stuff. You don't want to push tech too far or those Russians will come-a-knockin'. I don't need that kind of trouble. I have a wife and kid to think about. You know?

"It has some games with it, but not sure how many."

It's possible the seller has a box of stuff the system was in and only set a couple games up for the picture

Well atleast he lowered the price by $150 this time. Must be because of all the people that emailed him and laughed at his stupidity.

I'm still wondering how his "research" lead him to believe he could get away with selling a used copy of the game for $300 in the first place:?

A brand new 60GB PS3 for only $1000. I know that the 60s are nice, but $1000?
