Even though I claimed I was done with it, I went back to Bikkuriman World on PC Engine for some more punishment, and I kinda wish I hadn't. I wasn't off to a very good start, but I kept at it and used the continue code when needed. I got to the very last stage, and it took me a long time to figure out the maze but with a tiny bit of help from an FAQ I eventually got to the boss. He kept wiping me out, so I tried to get to him with a decent amount of life and items. After a very long time, I finally got up to him with fairly close to "full" life (full for me was seven hearts since you go back to five after every Game Over) and a potion that I really lucked out on when an enemy dropped it, so I thought I could finally do it... and I thought I had... I beat that stupid fire breathing dragon, my heart was racing, and I was so excited to have beaten him... BUT... that delay after killing him was all a trick and he then exploded into some old man that behaved exactly the same as the dragon and had the same power and life... :( I tried my hardest to beat him too, but I had already used up my potion on the dragon and I just didn't have enough life to pull it off. I dropped the controller; I couldn't take anymore. If I couldn't do it with the potion, which extremely rarely shows up as a dropped item, then I couldn't perceive any way I could pull it off.
Despite that immense frustration, I'm half tempted to go through the game again. I missed out on a whole long subquest that gives you an item that supposedly makes the final boss easier, and I also wasn't equiped with the best shoes or shield.

You mean it's four times the size of the standard Nintendo controller pak? The third party ones that are the same size are relatively okay, but any of the cards that store more are notoriously unreliable. They sporadically erase everything, regardless of how new, old, used, or unused they are. I'd get a standard controller pak ASAP.
Anyway, I finally got back into Wario Land on Virtual Boy, and since I had last left off at around stage 11 (out of 14), it didn't take too much effort to finish the game off. The final boss scared the crap out of me, though. o_O Freaky evil goblin face + Virtual Boy graphics that pop out at you = change of pants. :P I didn't get the best ending because I guess I took too long to beat the game, but it sounds like it's not a huge difference and there's not much in the way of an ending either way. Kinda disappointing that the first Wario Land on Game Boy had a longer, more varied ending, but thankfully endings don't concern me too much. I got all the treasure, though, so I unlocked the harder difficulty. I did the first stage on it, but I don't think I'll go through it all the way any time soon. Now that I tied up the last of my gaming loose ends, just about anything is open to me, so I'll have to think about what I want to play next.

I decided to start playing Mega Man Legends on PlayStation since I've had an interest in giving it a try ever since I heard it compared to Tail Concerto and because I want to annoy my boyfriend. :P Him and his brother are big Mega Man fans, so they've always ranked on the game for being so unlike the standard Mega Man games. And honestly, from my playing, it could have gone completely without the license. But just as a game on its own, I'm really enjoying it so far, and I do see a ton of similarities with Tail Concerto. The plots line up disturbing well - the floating islands above the ocean, the ancient civilization, having to dig up materials to power and advance the current civilization, having to use flying ships to get from island to island, a group of pirates attacking the civilians run by a spunky girl that ends up falling for the hero, the main baddies under her control being cute tiny servants that aren't truly bad, the whole focus on robots and the big robot boss battles, I could probably go on and on. The gameplay and artistic style are similar too. For all their similarities, they do FEEL quite different to me for some reason, whatever that's worth. o_O So far I still like Tail Concerto better, even if it does seem like Mega Man Legends will be a significantly longer game, but I'm glad I gave the title a try.

I played some more Donkey Kong Country 2 with my boyfriend, but this time his brother and his sister joined in. We're about half way through the fourth area, the haunted one, now. Actually, my boyfriend didn't do much playing so he missed some of my favorite stages, but we can always use Funky to go back. :)
After that I loaded up Mega Man Legends, and I just got the yellow refractor. I pulled a really stupid move too. I got the leg enhancement that makes Mega Man jump higher, but I was going nuts since it didn't seem like it was making any difference whatsoever. After probably 15 minutes, I FINALLY realized I have to equip the darn thing. :P I also have had a jacket that reduces the damage I take by 1/4, and I hadn't been using that for hours. No wonder I didn't notice a difference with that either, hehe. I guess the information is probably in the manual, but my copy of the game has everything but.

I played more Mega Man Legends on PlayStation, and I actually got my first Game Over in the Jyun Lake Sub-Gate. I played a lot more after that but I still haven't finished off Jyun Lake since I spent a bunch of time doing little sub-quests and mini-games. The racing mini-game sure is a pain in the ass. This game had me so bored in the beginning, but it gets better deep into the game, more enemies at there are located better spots.
I feel like I've been playing this game forever..
The worst thing about this game though is the bad checkpoint save/load.(aggravating).The game will save, then load into the next screen and my three man fire team will get caught up somehow in the checkpoint save/load..They die, causing me to fail the mission.
Sometimes reloading ,I can save one or two soldiers but usually I have reload the scene, starting over.

I'm up to the final boss in Mega Man Legends, or so I believe but I really can't foresee anything else changing in the plot to make it continue past the Main Gate. I have a few things I've missed, and I blame it on the fact that I didn't know until the final dungeon that I can examine weird spots on the walls to find stuff. I had always thought they were just something thrown into the wall textures to add variety. After I get the game beaten, I'll just use a guide to find the last couple things. For now, I'm saving up some zenny in order to by the armor that reduces damage by 3/4. I figure the mini-games at the TV station are the best for making quick cash.

I've been killing time on a number of Atari 7800 games, however the game I'm currently stuck with is Impossible Mission. Not the 7800 version, but actually the Sega Master System one, courtesy of Meka. It's a classic game, as I'm sure everyone knows. It still has a certain charm, a great challenge between action and puzzling.
Speaking of which, how the heck am I supposed to solve the puzzle pieces? I assume I'll figure it out eventually, by the time I can search all the items in all thr rooms. But, damn, this is gonna be tough.
I've seen ads for a Wii version of Impossible Mission, and there was talk last year about Commodore 64 being added to Virtual Console, but I'm not sure if that was true, or merely a misreading of press releases.
Hey, I just had to chime in about RE 4. I know I'm late to the party on it, but last night I pleyed the very enjoyable part where I had to enter the castle while bombarded by those fireball-flinging monks.

I beat Mega Man Legends on PlayStation with just under 20 hours on the clock (probably longer than what most people would get, but the town is so big and NPC dialogue changes so often that I easily spent a few hours just on chatting with people). The ending was pretty predictable, but it was very cute. :) After that, I loaded my file up again, and I spent a couple additional hours hunting down all the junk I missed. I was right, nearly everything I missed was in holes in the walls throughout the game. Now my file is as complete as it's going to be, since I'm not about to build my energy canteen all the way up to 50 points (it's at 20 now) and I never did upgrade any of my weapons. It takes such an obscene amount of zenny to fully do those things that it's best saved for easy mode where you get 4 times the money you normally get, and that's also the only way to truly have a "complete" file since there's a buster part that you ONLY get in easy. Since I'm not about to play all the way through the hard difficulty to unlock easy and then play all the way through that, I'll leave those things for another day. For now, I'm just going to beat the final boss once more on the off chance that all the things I did to complete my file might change the dialogue in the ending slightly (since it's one of those "walk around and talk to people" endings), and then I'm calling it quits on Mega Man Legends.
I also played a tiny bit of R-Type III via the Virtual Console on my Wii at my boyfriend's urging. Since I had never played the game before, I obviously got my ass kicked. :P We finally got our Wii online just the other day, so we've been trying out a lot of junk but that's the only actual playing I did.

I beat Mega Man Legends again as I was planning, but nothing was different about the ending except Mega Man commenting that he wasn't hungry when I checked the door of the Servbot restaurant. :P
Now I started up Nanatsu Kaze no Shima Monogatari on Saturn. I didn't even know of the game's existence until recently, but as soon as I learned that it was created by the same people as the Wonder Project J series and sounded even more similar to those games than E.V.O.: Search for Eden, I just had to get it, even if I still don't have my own Saturn. In fact, I think it was the last game the company ever made. So far, I don't really know what the heck I'm doing, but luckily there's an FAQ out there (only partial, though). The characters and style of the game sure is bizarre, like an even more demented Alice in Wonderland, but it's definitely intriguing. The pace is rather slow, but that's to be expected from an obese, dopey dragon, hehe.
